The Apostles is a warrior cats roleplay based in northern Wisconsin. On Lake Superior, the wild cats have made the Apostle Islands their home. It is on these islands - Rocky Island and South Twin Island - that the clan and tribe cats have lived in a peace and harmony that ebbs and flows with the tide.
But as the tides turn, so does the truce that binds them to one another; and as the water raises, a darkness follows, an evil that will end in bloodshed and violence.
Plot name: The Prophet Your character name: Yowl (what I'm currently leaning towards oop) How will this character fulfill the current plot's needs: A half-clan loner who, after a near-drowning experience at a young age, experienced visions that he is certain were the cats of Starclan calling him and his potential associates to some higher purpose. Exposure to the Tunnel Cats (maybe they're the ones that nursed him back to health after his accident??) only served to cement this ideal in his head, and when he discovers Poppy and her band of rogues, he is all too eager to insert himself into her group and become a most valuable asset. He's delusional, narcissistic, and manipulative, but entirely dedicated to Celandine's cause - if only for his own selfish reasons.
Plot Name: Spymaster Your Character name: Leopardface How will this character fulfill the current plot's needs:
Leopardface and Poppy already have a dynamic. They've established some attraction or, at least, interest in the others' character, and their dynamic is cautious while simultaneously intrigued. Narratively, this development would be natural and fit the pre-existing foundation they've set.
In addition to their acquaintanceship, Leopardface's character fits the role of a spymaster. Leopardface is a notoriously charismatic, calculative cat. Though he has a problematic background, his actions are justified given the circumstances (despite his ambitions' corrupt and genuine self-fulfilling nature). Leopardface cares about few things but high on the list include freedom, personal aspirations, and lust. The character of Leopardface is not above lying, scheming, spying, or any sin that perpetuates his lifestyle of self-indulgence. Leopardface leaving Lichen Clan and joining a rogue is a practical next step in his development as his hidden children may or may not come to light, his former mentor rises to power, and with no more chaos or paranoia running amuck, he finds himself bored and stifled by the new Lichen Clan regimen.
There are multiple angles that Leopardface can use to justify most outcomes. While Leopardface's character traits and personal pursuits make him a good match as a spymaster, he also has connections. Leopardface is the previous apprentice of the leader Yarrowstar, had contacts in the rebellion, and had kits in Redwood Clan.
I want Leopardface to dutifully follow Poppy's direction continuing their dance of guessing games and mental plays. He will covet his undeniable attraction to Poppy while simultaneously holding a rivalry (and somewhat attraction??), to Honeybun's character. I would like for him to challenge Honeybun at some point and in turn, this interaction strengthens rather than hurts their relationship because of the physical prowess and aesthetic godliness they parade (according to Leopardface, at least).
Ideally Leopardface will fit in well with this rag-tag group of cats and treat them kindly, basking in the benefits of lawlessness and impulsive desire. I want Leopardface to ultimately betray Lichen Clan in some way, coming full circle since his hesitant switch during the final battle.
Then, right as everything is too good for the spotted ex-warrior, I aspire for Poppy to betray Leopardface.
Plot name: Commander Your character name: Sugarplum How will this character fulfill the current plot's needs:
Sugarplum has always had a rocky relationship with Celandine and Poppy. Having first joined the rogues to curb her boredom, the groups generally brought out the worst in her, as she fought for her survival, and generally became more brutish and snappy. After their fall, leaving to live with Mercury mellowed the cat out a bit, but just as she began to teeter on change, the floods brought her right back into Poppy's paws, and it likely won't end well.
Sugarplum is not the obvious leader type. She's out for herself, but this time, there's someone else on her mind to - Mercury. This time, she wants to secure his protection as well as her own. The she-cat has skill in fighting, having learned LichenClan techniques that she can try to teach others. She's not a standout choice, but she's very, very smart. If Poppy approached her for her fighting prowess, she can easily see how this can secure her safety in a place that she doesn't see herself leaving anytime soon, so she'll take it.
If given the power, Sugarplum can fall into the role of a leader with surprising ease. She's never been given this power before, and it turns out that it works quite well for her (not for her health of curse, but for Poppy? Brilliantly.). She'll train others with a lack of emotion, watching them train, and won't be afraid to get her own claws out if someone falls behind. Her leadership skills will grow rather quickly as she finds leaership to be a path that she's rather skilled in. All of the time, though, she'll be watching. Learning where others falter, learning Poppy's own behaviours, because ultimately, she's out for herself and for Mercury - and god forbid that anyone hurt her mate.
Plot name: Commander Your character name:Honeybun How will this character fulfill the current plot's needs: Honeybun was there when it all started. From joining Lily's rogues and fighting alongside LichenClan in the final battle, Honeybun was one of only two cats who remained after Lily's fall. After finding Poppy during the blizzard, he made an oath to himself to stand by her side and see her ambitions through till the end. Honeybun is likely the cat Poppy trusts the most. He's straightforward and easy to read and is unable to hide anything from her. He is willing to die for her and her cause.
Honeybun's mother came from LichenClan. Though Bluebell struggled to remember her origin at first, she gave her kits lessons on how to live like a clan cat. Plus he spent time living among LichenClan with Lily's rogues and knows their territory well. Asides from basic clan life and customs, Honeybun knows how they fight. He knows LichenClan battle moves and tactics. In his youth, he picked battle after battle against clan cats, giving him the experience he needs to stand against them.
As commander, Honeybun will make sure his peers know how to fight and make sure they're fighting dirty. He'll be available for sparring threads and I'll work with others to grind up some nice stats.
Honeybun would take a straightforward approach to leadership, commanding his troops with pain and fear. He wouldn't be against bullying or beating up a cat to keep them in line. He'll build up a strong presence in Celandine, and be there to act as Poppy's enforcer. Taking on dirty work to keep her paws clean.
It'll be interesting to write how he grows as a leader, and how his morals are forced to change. In a plot sense, I'd like to have his dedication to Poppy cost him something. His innocent naivete, his family or his life.
Plot Name: The Prophet | Celandine. Character Name: Silver, formerly Silverpaw. How will this character fulfill the current plot’s needs:
Viewing himself a self-proclaimed outcast, Silver, endowed with the daunting task of exceeding the lofty expectations of his parents, has always felt ill-suited and ill-at-home within the pine forest. Showing a greater fondness for strengthening his mind than his body, where his father was known for his prowess in battle, Silver seemed only to inherit Graygaze’s cruel wiliness with little of the strength which made him feared. Because of this, his kithood was one in which he was largely overlooked. He lacked a fighter’s spirit, lied unwearyingly, and schemed so heinously even his father turned woeful eyes upon the extent of his callousness, his nature more akin to the cruel and spiteful habits of a fox than a warrior deserving of his blood. And so was he shunned by his own and shunned them in return for failing to acknowledge him, leading to an apprenticeship of spiteful isolation and self-indulgence.
During this time, he encountered Celandine’s leader, Poppy, caught in the snare of a bramble bush. In her, he saw all that he desired. The world in which she lived was lawless and free, a place where strength could be gotten as easily through physical means as it could with cunning. Enamored by her and all she represented, since their fateful meeting, Silver could not shake the encounter from his mind and sought desperately to meet her again—and would, eventually, come the flood.
Now a guest within the lodge, while his clanmates conspire to return home, Silver instead forges a plan to remain. Believing the rogues to know lesser than him, although he respects Poppy and craves her validation, he feels an apparent disdain for the rest of her subordinates. Because he believes himself more competent than they, he will seek to trick them, to fill their heads with embellished rumors and myths to establish himself as a reliable source of information, all while planting his own seeds to steer them as he pleases.
Where in ThistleClan, very few heeded his words, as a prophet, Silver will secure more power for himself than he has ever held. Undoubtedly it will go to his head, and his abuse of it will be noted in time. Still, his effort will be, initially, a ‘good’ one for Celandine and its people: to ‘civilize’ what he considers an unruly people—to cultivate them into respectable creatures and to aid Poppy in creating a society of cats that are deserving of the islands respect and consideration. Guiding them through signs no one can contest and feeding Poppy’s desire for leadership and power while earning himself the acknowledgment he has always felt deprived of.

Plot name: Physician Your character name: Belladonna How will this character fulfill the current plot's needs:
Being raised by Vixen and Mizar, Bella has the basics of herbal treatment down pat. She knows how to bind minor wounds, a few herbs that are useful, and where to find them for the most part. Her sweet, gentle nature makes her approachable for both clan and rogue alike. It can also lead to some interesting conflicts too.
I will be honest, the main thing against her as a healer is her experience. She's only played meddie for her mothers and brother during most of her youth. Keeping this in mind, I still put her up as an option. Even if she doesn't get it, I hope she can play alongside the main healer to both grow her healing skills and provide an interesting dynamic.
Plot name: Spymaster Your character name: Vixen How will this character fulfill the current plot's needs: Vixen has developed the skills of lying, always ensure there's a hint of truth in there. When she has a purpose or in the mood, she has no issue being sociable. Though she has been known to confuse cats about her motives time to time. She has knowledge about the territories due to her need to keep her herbs stocked in her den or to ease boredom. She knows Thistle Clan well enough to have once found their camp which allowed Lily and her rogues to move in. Poppy has encountered and interacted with Vixen so she is able to realize how dangerous and useful she is.
If she becomes spymaster, Vixen is likely not going to be the only one. She'll make a network including cats, either clan or not. It will take a little time, but she acknowledges it is far more efficient than collecting it all alone. At least a few cats from Thistle clan knows her face and scent which makes infiltration impossible.
(I will note, the roles for each is flexible and is just a starting point. It's easier to build than have an outright plan since often plot change and I wanted to be adaptable.)
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot:
Having placed himself apart from his Clanmates, there will be a bitterness in Nettlesting that he'll always nurture knowing that by merit of blood and birth, he has been and is still, judged differently. So it'll be no surprise that he has always taken great pride from his accomplishments as a warrior, fighter and importantly, a mentor. He won't desire to prove himself as much as illustrate the simple fact that he can be just as good as the rest of them: not a black sheep, but the dark horse.
Being bested by his sister after so long spent quietly luxuriating in his successes without quite realizing it, will have left a surprising chip on the tom's shoulder however. Something that will undoubtedly have been made worse by having to cater to her post-injury alongside his mother. He'll feel, well, increasingly stung by the forced proximity to his dysfunctional family. Nettlesting will continue to wish for nothing more but to estrange himself from them and their similar yet contrasting ideologies.
This, along with the death of his mentor and the recent conflicts will have left him increasingly restless and dissatisfied. Naturally, he'll hold the tales Graystar's exploits in high esteem, and privately desire the return of the days where ThistleClan tested its mettle in innovative and ambitious ways.
What are your personal plans for the character:
●I can see his need to challenge the status quo being a brewing storm that only gathers more clouds with time. He wouldn't go outright against his loyalty to the Clan, but if the situation called for it, I imagine his views would naturally assert themselves and that he would continue to push his beliefs.
●More subtle in his wit, he would be a cat of slight smiles and elliptical remarks: with just enough rudeness sprinkled in to let you know you're being insulted. In short, insufferably perfect (mostly). Despite the air of mystery he would cultivate though, Nettlesting wouldn't be all ice queen, and I think it would be interesting to play out the private moments where he relaxes and lets down his hair, so to speak.
●I can definitely see him continuing to clash with his family, with all the good juicy conflict that entails 🔥
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot:
Creekwhisker’s promise as a warrior is threatened most significantly by himself and the ideals that he holds himself up to. Even as far back as Ginger, he finds that his family is one of good, strong stock, and he has always found it difficult to live up to those figures in his head. Though he found a new energy with his training following his mother’s death, Creekwhisker knows that he will never be a legendary figure on the battlefield, but he will strive to uphold the values that RedwoodClan holds dear, with a particular focus on community and morality.
An eagerness to prove himself will drive Creekwhisker in all that he does, though this will, as if always has, conflict with his shy nature. The death of his mother could have pushed him either of two ways, but he finds himself embracing a pacifist nature with his earnest belief that violence only breeds more violence. Though not particularly outspoken, Creekwhisker will have a solid moral compass that he struggles to stray from, and this informs his quiet yet steadfast support of Finchstar’s aims to form and maintain strong relationships with other groups and outsiders. Naturally, the stories Creekwhisker enjoyed so much in his youth drive him to be more accepting of outsiders, the tales of Ginger flaring in his mind at the merest mention of aggression towards those not of RedwoodClan birth.
What are your personal plans for the character:
- Having always been a mediator for his sisters, Creekwhisker places much of his self-worth in his ability to provide something to others, and is extremely sensitive to the behaviour and attitudes of others. This creates a cat who overthinks to the extreme and who views many issues as things that he is duty-bound to fix. Unfortunately, his lack of innate combat skill (or willingness to engage in violence) has only driven him to cling even tighter onto his abilities to talk others down, and Creekwhisker will find himself facing just how much of himself he puts into those around him and how he might rectify that.
- This segues into his relationships with his sisters, which have always been positive despite their own fiery attitudes towards one another. Creekwhisker often feels torn between the two, as though he alone is bridging the chasm between them, moulding himself into someone who can glue their family together and hopefully keep it that way. There’s a safety to be found around them though, their stronger personalities affording him a quiet place in which to reside, where the eyes of others skate right over him. At times, perhaps particularly once he seriously starts thinking about his social circle outside of his family, this will become uncomfortable for Creekwhisker, which could open up some interesting plots for the siblings. Ultimately, he will aim to bring his sisters back together and try to encourage and help them to mend their relationship.
- He will endeavour to make friends, though certainly be unsure about how exactly to do this. As with many things, Creekwhisker will see this as something of a task, breaking it down in a methodical way to tackle smaller things that will hopefully come together to aid him in making friends. Of course, these things are rarely as simple as that, and socialising outside of his duties will be something that Creekwhisker continues to struggle with, though a part of him enjoys such challenges. When he does make friends, he will be attentive and fearful in equal measure, largely as a result of his lack of experience in maintaining friendships.
- His apprenticeship displayed his strength in stealth, and I would love to explore this side of him more and what it means to him. Fighting from the underbrush isn’t the most common of tactics among RedwoodClanners, but Creekwhisker will find much more comfort in working in such environments as opposed to outright battle, and so he will strive to improve upon this however possible. Despite his openness towards outsiders, he still values his clan above all else, and is not confident or forthright enough to refuse an order when given to him, which could definitely be a source of internal strife later.
- In short, just lots of fun opportunities for a conflict of interests, struggling with the familial relationships around him, and trying to make a name for himself outside of the stronger personalities that have overshadowed him previously.
Character name: Flickersight How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot: As tensions continue to build between RedwoodClan and ThistleClan, Flickersight also feels his resentment for LichenClan grow as well. He blames them for the death of his mother- if they hadn't needed rescuing, his mother wouldn't have died. Flickersight resigns himself to his duties, and is simply interested in getting from one sunrise to the next. He keeps a close eye on his children and sister, ensuring they stay sharp in anticipation of the next terrible event that might befall them.
The grief of losing his mate and mother back-to-back causes him to become a bit more reckless with his own life despite the hypocrisy of his behavior combined with the iron fist he has over his sister and children. Suddenly, he is the same person he ways during his apprenticeship letting his own father get hurt as he stands idly by. Maybe he wants to feel "proactive" about nipping ThistleClan in the bud before they can get to RedwoodClan (and his family) first.
What are your personal plans for the character: - I would be interested in exploring more of his grief and how he deals with it following both the deaths of his mate and mother as well as Flowerfang's reveal as to why their parents broke up all those moons ago. He may begin to question everything he's known, specifically in terms of his family. I'd like to really hammer out all the stages of grief, especially confounded with the information he's learned. - I'd think Flickersight could take another mate, but he might treat it as a distraction rather than an actual relationship. He might find a way to drive a wedge between his new mate and his children, keeping them from getting too close to one another. He is fiercely protective of those he loves, but it often will come across as domineering and controlling rather than protective. - He becomes sharp and guardy with his clanmates. He doesn't distrust them by any means, but he puts his nose to the grindstone and works hard instead of trying to make friends... Or even conversation. If they aren't his sister or his own children, he comes across as largely disinterested and cold. Even his own father will find it hard to get through to him. - Piggybacking off of the last plot point, he might really meet someone to fill Frecklewing's shoes. However, he is fretfully in another relationship already! (I've read about forbidden relationships, but I'm not 100% if this falls under that because it's cheating. I plan on it being intra-clan unless I get a saucy idea lol; I can always modify this idea!). He swears his current mate to secrecy, and allows his new mate to meet his children and even his father. He carelessly tosses his mate to the side for his mistress, deciding that she fits the role of mother and lover far better than the other. He's fretfully more like his mother than he ever wanted to be.
Plot name: Thistleclan Tunnel Cat Your character name:Kestrelcall Extra details regarding Kestrel: Because Kestrel is an archived character I would need to adjust/update her history but bullet point plot hits would be as follows. When the call came for Thistleclan to join alongside Redwoodclan during the war, Kestrelcall refused to answer it despite her ability to fight. Hearing about her refusal, leadership went to her directly and demanded she join in on the battle. Still, Kestrelcall declined vehemently that she would ever raise a claw against another cat. Sickened by her weakness; Stagstar renamed her Brittleheart in an attempt to shame her and label her a coward to anyone who might cross her path. Disheartened by her name change but forever the pacifist, Brittleheart accepted his decision silently. Though many clanmates avoided her already, Brittleheart became an all out social outcast among Thistleclan’s ranks. When the opportunity to join the tunnel cats presented itself, Brittleheart jumped at the opportunity to live a neutral life dedicated to keeping peace. Despite everything she’s been through, Brittleheart cares deeply for Thistleclan and hopes to prove her worth to them anyway she can. How will this character fulfill the current plot's needs: If staff approve the character update written above, Brittleheart would make a great tunnel cat as Thistleclan has all but written her off as useless for her unwillingness to draw blood during conflict. She is an adamant believer in keeping the peace through diplomacy and is determined to show conflict Can be resolved through mutual understanding. As a tunnel cat, Brittleheart would focus on learning the ancient history to see what can be taught from the past so they can avoid future mistakes while also making a point to try and recruit any other warriors who may feel trapped in their own respective clans.
Brittleheart has been approved for the role: ThistleClan tunnel rep. You may start plotting to move her into this plot. let wish know if you have any questions.
Character name: Nettlesting How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot: Nettlesting is proud of his clan and willing to fight for it. He's a great warrior for ThistleClan to have. He's all for pressuring RedwoodClan to give up their land, but doubts Firfoot and Stagstar's ability to follow through. The clan is small and lacking in strong warriors.
With Nettlesting, I'd like to explore a different side of ThistleClan politics and have him openly question Stagstar and Firfoot's stance on outsiders and forbidden romances. He'll embody the free-spirited side of ThistleClan's culture with a flair for rule breaking and selfish opportunism.
I'd like to rename him, Marshgaze something along those lines. murk/haze/mud for a prefix + a sight related for a suffix.
I'd like to use a rare trait to give him bad eyesight. He can still see, but only well up close. Marshgaze = for his muddy eyesight At a distance everything is blurry. Despite his disability he's been able to excel as a warrior and would often beat his sister in fights.
As mentioned above, I'd like him to explore the more open, rule breaking side of ThistleClan's culture. I'd like to see him bend rules, deal with the consequences and refuse to learn his lesson. He remembers a time before ThistleClan was so afraid of outsiders and wants that back. Mudeye is dissatisfied with the way the clan is going. He has always been proud of his rogue blood, and embraces a more harsh and brutal fighting style. In his opinion the clan is turning away strong fighters and recruits for no reason. If anyone can hold their own they should be allowed to join.
He's got an easy-going lackadaisical vibe that attracts others, but he prefers to be alone and is rather cold. Though he's always down for a game or competition.
I'd like to explore his relationship with his mother Splintersight, seeing how their politics compare and if that will be able to pull them together or push them further apart.
