The Apostles is a warrior cats roleplay based in northern Wisconsin. On Lake Superior, the wild cats have made the Apostle Islands their home. It is on these islands - Rocky Island and South Twin Island - that the clan and tribe cats have lived in a peace and harmony that ebbs and flows with the tide.
But as the tides turn, so does the truce that binds them to one another; and as the water raises, a darkness follows, an evil that will end in bloodshed and violence.
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot: Smallstorm’s ire has collared her into an excellent fighter and hunter, but in turn it has frozen over her heart. She takes any idea of relaxing as a scathing insult to her dedication and self-esteem, and easily goes off at her clanmates, unable to reign in her sharp tongue. For anyone who is inspired by her devotion to her Clan and attempts to befriend her, she will slowly lead them on before something about them makes her wither enough to teach them a lesson in pain. As a result, Smallstorm’s deeper self-loathing hardens her almost desperately, a straitjacket to keep her from reaching out. She is critical of ThistleClan’s leadership after Thievingstar’s death, and almost fervently watches them for error, despite being in agreement most of the times.
As leafbare comes surging down the days, Smallstorm will be out of camp often, vigilantly looking to snatch up the last good prey animals. When someone can goad her into talking of ThistleClan’s current situations, she will express a rigid stance. The rogue attack on camp has made her form a brutal, unforviging opinion on any outsider, labeling them all as a potential rogue, and Smallstorm has promised herself to injure any she sees on sight. She supports the idea of hunting them down and extinguishing any threat they have to the Clan.
She does not hold the other Clans to the same scathing level as outsiders, and supports the idea of alliances as long as ThistleClan benefits more or equally than the other. A reflection of herself is found in these political stances, a molly who plays her relationships like cards, only striking deals if she is benefitted wholly.
What are your personal plans for the character:
This is my first time committing myself to playing an incredibly stormy, mean character in full, so I’d love to get Smallstorm in interactions that showcases those traits, whether it be arguing, picking fights, petty physical squabbles. I’d like to tack on that she shares a manipulative streak with her brother, however much she tries to play at seeming noble.
She will most likely make more enemies than friends, and those who do manage to stay her friend would often be those that are just as venomous. Smallstorm is loyal to her Clan but not to individuals at this point, and she would tell their secrets to someone else in an instant, the very reason she keeps her own close to her chest. A few might find themselves at the recieving end of her looseness with keeping secrets or personal details.
Speaking of Tornpelt, Smallstorm’s opinion of him currently would be shrinking down to a minimum. She is practically tortured at the memories of good times they spent together, while ultimately they’ve all been tainted by her icy lens of the world. She looks down her nose at him, anchoring her from ever healing from the rift that has opened between them. I’d love for this to develop ICly with whoever adopts Tornpelt, and see whether it accumulates into a reunion or forever splits them apart.
Has little outwards desire for romance, and acts repulsed by things she considers “sappy”. Often mocks anyone who tries to make moves on her or begins to view her as something more than a friend, afraid to enjoy the prospect of being wanted by someone and not just needed. I would love to actually play this out, maybe she goes too far insulting someone and has to apologize, it could even make her accidentally go overboard the other way and agree to a date or two before she realizes she’s accidentally cornered herself into a casual relationship…
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot: After a harsh season under Sumac's leadership, the clan needs a bit of sunshine. Foxtail will be just that. She was too young to understand what he did and why. While he was executing prisoners, Foxtail was playing with imaginary friends. Foxtail will do her best to bring happiness to those around her. She'll play pranks or throw surprises just to make anyone smile. Her positive attitude will be good for soothing tensions between prey-hunters and stone-guards sides and keeping everyone positive during the coming winter seasons.
Foxtail will be pro-unifying the clan. She wants everyone to be friends. She's also pro-clan cats and will advocate for a strong relationship with them.
As a to-be, Foxtail will be eager to learn everything. She wants to learn stone-guard things AND prey-hunter things and won't be happy when she's forced to choose one side. Her ancestor Fawn did a lot for the clan, and Foxtail has a lot to live up to. She'll start to crack under the pressure.
I am planning to adopt Foxtail and apply her for Teller's apprentice hehe. But if I don't get Teller's apprentice I still look forward to playing a happy-going character who does her best to always put on a smile despite the situation. I'll elaborate more in the HP application, but I have in mind a happy, bright-spirited cat who starts to crack under the pressure but can push through and come out stronger on the other side.
What are your personal plans for the character: I've always enjoyed reading about characters who put on a smile despite everything around them. They're smiling to make others feel like things will be okay. They'll turn to you and tell you things will be okay while running off into a dangerous battle.
I want to start with Foxtail being a naive happy kit who's forced to face the reality of the world (hunger, predators, war, etc.). She'll struggle a lot, but in the end, will become a resilient, strong lady who smiles, not because she thinks everything is perfect, but because she knows a smile will help those around her. She'll be silly and cheeky to brighten someone's day. She's not stupid. She knows they could all die tomorrow, but that just means they should live in the moment.
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot: I am eager to see how Moon navigates the post-Sumac landscape, especially given her tendency to resent others and her personal abandonment issues. Like her resentment towards her mother for not rescuing her from the fire, Moon resents Fog for abandoning the tribe. She blames him for Martin's death, and upon seeing the tom return, she feels a mixture of relief and bitterness towards him. She sees Talon as a bystander that allowed much of Sumac's reign to carry on instead of taking sharp and decisive action like Sunrise did, but even Sunrise acted too late to save Martin's life.
She finds herself in an interesting landscape, one of only a couple prey hunter fledglings that stayed with the rank following Sumac's death. She is glad that many were able to join the stoneguards, and sometimes wishes she had found herself suited for that work, just like Martin did. Her relationship with her fellow preyhunters will be skewed slightly because of this, harboring a soft yearning for something "more" that she would not really want if it was handed to her.
I think that her feelings about the clans and their newfound closeness will develop as the plot progresses. She has seen what happens when the tribe is left to its own devices, and thinks that, if the tribe had been in regular communication with the clans, Fog would have returned to them much sooner. With this in mind, I think she does want some sort of bond between the clans and the tribe, but her opinion could change should the tribe ever be brought into one of the clans' scuffles. What are your personal plans for the character: I intend for Moon to have a similar personality to that described, with a reckless streak driven by her strong opinions as the only major addition.
I am excited for her to either be proven right or wrong in that her tribe judges her young motherhood, and how that reflects in her future relationships. As everyone knows, I do love to make my characters kiss other characters and will continue to do so if I find the right partner for her. It will take a long time to heal from Martin's death, but with time, she may one day find the right cat to have at her side. Given her need to feel grown up, someone who she is able to relax around and feel looked after might be a good fit, or someone who is calmer and cools her off after her passionate rants. I'm eager for her to develop friends and rivals as well, as I think that personally, I think more activity in the tribe would never hurt and I love existing in its unique culture.
Finally, I am very excited to explore her dynamic with her family. She will have a lot of resentment towards her mother as expected but will also heavily blame her for leaving Star so isolated when life in a community is so intrinsic to being a member of the tribe. She will be eager to reinsert herself into Star's life as more of a second mother than a big sister, wanting to teach and guide her in the things that she thought Sky incapable of teaching. This will only be a stronger instinct, given that her daughter will be a to-be with Star, and will therefore shift Moon's opinion of her sister to be one much younger and more innocent - more in need than a typical sisterly relationship might be able to give.
With Ridge, she finds true family. She clings to him, finding that he is the only cat who makes her feel like she is as young as she is. She will seek his advice, and will cry pressed into his fur, completely vulnerable in a way she is with no one else.
Feeling that she was forced to grow up too quickly, Moon struggles to let herself heal from her childhood wounds, as well as how to reconnect with that part of herself. She watches her daughter learn and grow and wishes that she could have done the same. Because of this, she fiercely protects her child's naive spirit, fighting away anything that might bring her harm or scare her into being something she is not. As her daughter grows up, Moon will struggle most of all with accepting that her daughter is becoming more independent, as Moon will always feel the urge to tuck Foxtail beneath her belly like a broody pheasant.
Character name: STAR SHINING ON BLEAKEST NIGHT (Proposed name change- Star Shining On Blackened Petals)
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot: Star returns to the tribe at a very tumultuous time. Sumac’s reign of tyranny has just ended, and rather abruptly at that, and the tribe is still recovering from the wounds he caused. The divide that the false teller created between his supporters and dissenters is still there, and stuck in the middle with absolutely no understanding of what is going on, is Star.
With no memory of how the tribe used to be, Star’s stance on the division is one of almost apathy. To her, the tribe has always been divided, so there’s little reason for her to even care about the division. Not only that, but it doesn’t affect her. She doesn’t remembered anyone besides her mother, and she doesn’t know anyone besides Ridge, Sky, Moon, and Foxtail, and the only two of those who are divided are Sky and Moon, and it’s not due to Sumac.
Another side-effect of her missing Sumac’s dictatorship, is the fact that she is just starting her training and feels absolutely no pressure to become one role or the other. The only cat in her age group to not be forced into being a prey-hunter, there’s definitely room for tension between her and cats like Melody and Claw, who were both forced to be prey-hunter fledglings instead of stone-guard fledglings. She won’t understand why cats would be envious of her ability to choose.
When it comes to clan cats, Star has absolutely no idea what to think. Having never met them, she is understandably wary to learn that, not only does she now have to live with a large group of cats, there are more groups of cats on their borders, with these groups being almost twice the size of the tribe. It intimidates her, and she’ll be suggesting that they leave them alone, believing them to be a threat.
What are your personal plans for the character: With Star’s life up to this point being one of isolation, I would like to explore how uncomfortable she feels suddenly living in a large group. Her personality would stay extremely similar, though I’d like to to add “soft-spoken”, “analytical”, and “fiercely loyal” as positive traits, and “a loner”, “blunt”, and “easily overstimulated” to her as negative traits for her personality.
I’ve already done the whole “finding your place in the world” once, with Primrose and have plans to do it again with Falcon, so I’d like to steer away from that. Instead, with Star, I’d like for her to know where her place is- a prey-hunter- quickly. She’ll find joy in it.
What I would like to focus on, is her culture shock. Going from living with just her mom to living with so many cats, while something she was excited about at first, didn’t turn out like she wanted. Instead of being great, she finds herself overwhelmed by the sheer amount of cats. The constant talking is hard to get used to, and I want her to struggle with that.
I’d also like for her to struggle with how she’s seen. Training with her six moon old niece will have skewed the way others treat her in terms of maturity, and her personality won’t really help that. She’ll feel stuck as a child, which will not be helped by being a to-be. I can see her eventually snapping that she’s much older than everyone acts like she is. She’ll get tired of being seen as a kit fairly quickly.
Her family will also be a point of struggle. Caught between loving and having a close bond with Sky for being the only family she remembers and desperately wanting to have a good relationship with Moon, Star will feel pulled in two directions. Throw in Ridge, her highly respected great-uncle who Moon is incredibly close to, and the ever optimistic Foxtail, she’s going to have little clue how to navigate the family.
The final major thing I’d like to play out with her, is her self-consciousness. Her scars are a massive part of her, leaving the left half of her face bald and with weakened eyesight in that eye, and an uneven tapestry of patchy fur and bald burn spots on her left side. With no one else in her family having injuries that come even close to her scars, she’ll feel very self conscious, and will see herself as “ugly”. I’d like for her to find a partner who sees her and teaches her that she’s beautiful.
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot:
Sky is going to find integrating herself back into the tribe difficult. After living on her own, she feels awkward being around lots of cats and gets anxious when faced with speaking in front of many cats at once. She will mostly do her stone-guard duties as is expected of her and nothing more at first. She’ll feel lost and hopeless, wondering how she could possibly feel normal again with the past still occupying much of her thoughts. She still tries to stick close to Star, finding comfort in the other cat who shared a difficult part of her life with her, but being so close to Star hinders her from branching out into other relationships. Star is someone to relate to, and Sky can hardly relate to her tribemates.
She will try to confide in Ridge and hopefully grow closer to him to start with. I want him to help encourage her to become closer to her family and former friends. I am also extremely interested in developing her friendship with Fog. Maybe they can relate to each other and bond over their experiences of being separated from the Tribe and how much their lives have changed. When Sky starts to feel more comfortable around her tribemates, maybe she will start to suggest doing more of certain duties that Fawn invented for prey-hunters and stone-guards to do. Though it will be slow-going, I want her to eventually become very passionate about the tribe and its success. Even though she was curious about the Clan cats at one point, I’m not sure how curious she will be about them now that she’s returned. Her main focus will be on herself and her family, and eventually, her tribe. However, I do not plan on her ever having a hatred for the Clan cats.
What are your personal plans for the character:
With Sky, I will mainly focus on her attempting to rebuild her relationship with her family and tribemates. She is going to be sad, anxious and on alert for a while after joining the tribe again, maybe turning into a people pleaser, so I want her to find others who will help her become more comfortable and relaxed. My ultimate goal is for her to be happy again someday and for her spunk to return when she gets older. She will find relief in Foxtail, who may become a light in her life and someone to motivate her to try harder. However, her relationship with Moon is going to be tumultuous I imagine, and may even hinder her progress toward being happy. She may avoid Moon if it’s bad enough, which could stop her momentarily from becoming close to her family. I hope for her to eventually find a mate, too; someone she can confide in and who is gentle, understanding, and kind, but also pushes her to be her best self.
sprite by rain RWC: Dogear, Shadowpaw TC: Cherrybite, Splintersight, Ridgepaw LC: Deadeye, Juncoshadow, Foxglovefire Tribe: Sky Where Thunder Roars
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot: 1. Ridge insists that the tribe must go back to their old ways, for their trials and tribulations are (by and large) because they have lost their way. Though he is pleased by the restoration of Fog to power, he will bring his concerns to the re-throned Teller. He is a traditional guy who believes his experience is paramount. Surely, he thinks, a cat of Fog's wisdom will listen to him. 2. Ridge will continue to mostly keep to himself. His relationships outside of his family will be sparse and bare. It will take some serious work to win him over and earn his trust, but it can be done! I think it would be fun to really develop a hard-fought and hard-won friendship or relationship with someone outside of his preexisting inner circle. Perhaps he can learn to love again, too. 3. He will likely never learn to trust the clans. They are far too different from what is right and familiar to him; they are war-torn in recent moons for a reason, and Ridge is far from interested in exploring that reality. He will be a markably outspoken anti-clan tribe cat, no matter how many bureaucratic meetings and polite small talks they can have. It might be interesting too if one of his own family or friends ends up in a forbidden relationship and he maintains his hard line against the clans.
What are your personal plans for the character:i want to play another sexy angry old man im sorry i also think it might be fun to build up a ton of relationships with him, to open up his heart and get him close to a handful of choice individuals (outside those in his family he already cares about)- maybe even try to give him some more kids- and then make him my first retired character onsite. i have always struggled with developing character arcs and also allowing them to have real beginnings and ends- ESPECIALLY ends. I think Ridge would be an excellent character for me to challenge myself with, having been an established character within the tribe and also having his story end there as well. letting things go and giving closure to plots and characters would definitely be new for me, and i'd love to try it with him. of course, it would likely take a year or two, but that would also bring about a new longevity challenge as well!
Because I cant help myself and I have no self control
Character name: Ridge Where Eagles Roost (I would like to change his name to Boar who Breaks Boulders if possible) How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot:
Boar has always been a firm believer in following old customs and traditions. The recent trouble with Sumac was deeply unsettling to him and he believes the continued suffering of the Tribe was a direct result of the Tribe not following customs closely enough. (For instance, Stone-guards hunting resulting in even less prey for the Tribe than before and cats not regularly communing with their ancestors on The Stone That Never Ends has resulting in more cats not being able to decipher when the ancestors are trying to guide them.)
With the return of Fog he will initially be excited and feel as though normalcy can return to the Tribe however this will quickly turn to skepticism when he realizes the Tribe will be attending the Gathering and involving themselves in clan affairs with the creation of the estuary. He is paranoid the clans will bring their customs to the Tribelands and result in further separation from their traditions. As a result, Boar will stress the importance of their culture to the younger generation in the hopes they are not swayed by the clans and instead will be interested in following through with creating their oaths and focus on continuing to heal the land after the fire ravaged the islands. In that way, they honor their ancestors and continue the circle of life.
Due to Sumac's recent wrongful leadership, Boar will also want to focus on integrating Sumac supporters and Fog supports back with one another in a harmonious way that does not involve fighting or judgement. While it was difficult for him to refrain from outwardly speaking out against Sumac due to his family responsibilities; he does not fault his Tribemates for seeking answers in Sumac's guidance but rather that they need to reconnect with their ancestors spiritually in order to find the true way once more.
Overall; Boar will be against forming clan relations, want to focus on healing the land, and insist his Tribemates attempt to connect with their ancestors through communing at the Stone that Never Ends.
What are your personal plans for the character:
My personal plans for Boar are largely outlined above with his insistence on following through on old customs but I'd also love to explore his relationship with his remaining extended family and possibly his own at some point. Because of Blackbird's death, he will never get to truly fulfill his Oath and this is a fact that will haunt him deeply. His desire to become Blackbird's mate traveled with him throughout his life however due to his cowardice he was too late to win her favor. As a result, he will make an effort to be more forward with his intentions though a large part of him feels he could never truly love any other cat having spent most of his life pinning for Blackbird. I would like for him to find love at some point and be able to accept and move on from that chapter of his life that haunts him.
He will still be very envious of Talon and work to prove his worth, a part of him hoping to replace Talon should anything happen to the tom. Boar will also work tirelessly to ensure his niece and her family are not tempted by clan customs and instead help reignite a passion for the ancestors in them due to Sky and Star's prolonged absence.
Character name: Flowerfang How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot: Flowerfang would side with the more neutral of the RWC cats. She's been trained heavily in fighting skills and takes pride in her own abilities. Despite Splashpaw's difficult apprenticeship, she's prepared to give it another go and build herself into a better mentor. She knows it will be hard work, but another set of paws willing to toss in is only going to help the clan. Flowerfang believes building a stronger Redwoodclan will deter any future wars and give other clans a pause before starting anything. What are your personal plans for the character: I've never been a fan of roleplaying romance (not opposed to it), but I think if Flowerfang found a cat that made her consider, for even a second, about settling down, it could be a fun way to start flexing my romance skills. Her ideal partner would be someone patient, willing to take the time to I don't think she would like motherhood still. She gets enough parental experience by being a present aunt for Flickersight's kits. Speaking of her brother, she doesn't know where she stands with him currently. She feels guilty for confessing their mother's secret, but is glad to have the weight off of her chest. In her head, Flickersight will come around to Rowanleap eventually. She hopes that with the secret washing her father of true guilt, he'll finally see that their father is truly on their side.
