The Apostles is a warrior cats roleplay based in northern Wisconsin. On Lake Superior, the wild cats have made the Apostle Islands their home. It is on these islands - Rocky Island and South Twin Island - that the clan and tribe cats have lived in a peace and harmony that ebbs and flows with the tide.
But as the tides turn, so does the truce that binds them to one another; and as the water raises, a darkness follows, an evil that will end in bloodshed and violence.
Character name: Brookstone How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribe's plot:
The oldest of her sibling trio, and with her father withdrawing completely after their mother's death Brookstone hasn't given herself the room to truly grieve her losses. Instead, she musters up a smile, squares her shoulders and bears the weight of taking care of her loved ones all on her own. Brookstone truthfully doesn't know what to do with her sister, but to say she is happy with their current relationship would be a lie. She struggles knowing how to connect with the younger she-cat in a way that isn't overly controlling or commanding and I'd love to explore the nuances of that relationship deeper. She strives to be a pillar of strength to her brother, though she feels like she is crumbling inside more every day.
Nevertheless, Brookstone has always been a cat that perseveres in the face of adversity. She knows the meaning behind working hard and the rewards hard work reaps, and has thrown herself headlong into maintaining and strengthening her battle-skills. She's one of the first cats around to volunteer for patrol no matter the time of day or night. Brookstone can arguably be called a workaholic - but she wants nothing short of the best for her clan. Though young, she understands too well how fleeting life can be and wants to create a legacy like her own ancestors - one that will live on long after she is gone.
What are your personal plans for the character:
Ever the hard worker, Brookstone often volunteers for the less sought after patrols, picking up extra duties whenever she has nothing else to occupy her time. Her willingness to help has garnered the young feline a well-liked reputation, and secured her several friendships within her clan. These easy friendships segue into her relationships with her family - which range from dead in the water when it comes to Splashfire and thick as thieves with Creekwhisker.
Brookstone will struggle with knowing when enough is enough. Both with her penchant for needling information from others and working herself to the bone. She tends to drive herself past the point of exhaustion, a constant mantra of "be better, do better" on endless loop. The warrior refuses to simply relax, afraid that if she does she'll lose the tenuous grip she has on her grief and turmoil.
With her own background, she isn't the kind of feline to disparage mixed blood or outsiders. However, she tends to have the view-point that if you aren't for Redwoodclan then you're against them. She certainly puts her clan's wellbeing before the wellbeing of other clans and as such will maintain camaraderie with the other clan cats but shies away from friendships. Brookstone knows all too well how quickly the tides of war can change, and she's too afraid she would have to cut a friend down in battle to protect her own clan someday - so paws-length is the way to go as far as she is concerned.
Plot name: LichenClan Council Member Your character name: Deadeye How will this character fulfill the current plot's needs:
Like Monarchmask, Deadeye is a loyalist, although he has a low-class father. He supported Minnowstar up until her insanity, but would not complain at all if a Heron cat somehow came into power again. He has a reputation for disagreeing and disliking LichenClan’s new leaders, withdrawing into the shadows as a result, and continuing to support his family, one of the last to practice dying traditions. He mainly supports them by being Caveflower’s pawn and trying to guide the current apprentices in the right direction through bullying and manipulation. However, since Deadeye is a relatively younger cat and somewhat connected with the younger generation, he is knowledgeable about their wants and needs.
While Deadeye is not power-hungry, he has no desire for power himself, he does enjoy being in control of others. He has a desire to create trouble, as conflict is what he’s known for most of his life. If he were to be put on the Council, at first he would be averse to it. He has no desire to cooperate with revisionists. However, after some convincing from Caveflower, he’ll come to tolerate it and be enlightened as to how he and his family can use his position to their advantage. Caveflower in particular will manipulate him behind the scenes and take advantage of his position to further her own values, in particular in an attempt to get traditional values back in the Clan. Deadeye will try to use his position to keep the traditionalist cats– and his family– in their leadership’s minds. Although, he may from time to time suggest or support decisions that would either balance traditional and revisionist values or support revisionist values. Because, even though he acts most of the time in traditional interests, there is a deeply suppressed part of him that despises traditionalism and has a desire to be free and do what he likes. He hardly, if ever, expresses this part of himself and a position on the Council may be an opportunity for him to open up a little more, albeit slowly. Deadeye genuinely wants to see his Clan thrive and will work hard to be sure they have a good future– just in his family’s way.
Regarding Lilacmist, Deadeye is not very familiar with her but will work with her since she is a connection to StarClan and he is loyal to them above all else. After encouragement and pressure from Caveflower, he will confer with Lilacmist more, also seeking more knowledge about StarClan, and fully support her wishes. Lilacmist and Deadeye also share similar views regarding LichenClan traditionalism and the roles of cats in the Clan, so they should get along pretty well. Together, they could be a force to be reckoned with.
Input from Captain regarding Caveflower's role:
"Seeing an opportunity when Deadeye is picked for the council, Caveflower will attempt to manipulate him to achieve her own ends. She can act behind the scenes, scheming to bring back traditionalist values to the clan. Her true end goal is to secure a position on the council for her family that could be passed down to one of her sons and their descendants. Whether she wins or loses is up to how the plot goes. I'm just as excited to see her win as I am for her to lose everything, or perhaps Deadeye will be revealed as the true brains behind it all, manipulating his grandmother when she thought she was the one in control. Regardless this will make for some fun political scheming and plays for power. Caveflower can get other traditionalist characters involved and help promote an ongoing conflict in LichenClan."

main points Representing the younger warrior population within the Clan, Ghostface is a cat with the fortune (or misfortune) of living a dual existence. Raised by the extremist Duckpuddle, he is not ignorant to and has had considerable exposure to the methods and practices of the Clan's more conservative population. He, however, is not a titular traditionalist, though he does partake in the culture to some degree—mostly in his unspoken piousness. Ghostface is deeply religious, has a profound interest in the ancestors, and has maintained a strong connection to them despite his parents' mostly agnostic ways. He deeply respected old traditions insofar as the old doctrines and faith and is particularly sympathetic towards the more pious populations in the Clan.
Ghostface, however, has no explicit interest in the family hierarchies of older families as he was never made to partake in them and never will. However, he has grown around cats who were made to and is as empathetic to their lives and unspoken hardships as he is indifferent to them. Ultimately, though, Ghostface is a centrist. He opposes no side more strongly than the other but instead supports an environment where both systems of belief can breathe and express themselves freely. He is a deeply empathetic individual, willing to endure the company of even the Clan's most obstinate, and has a particular affection for those deemed by the Clan to be outcasts or oddballs.
Within the council, Ghostface would play the role of mediator between the rebel and traditionalist groups. Having experienced both sides but not being so badly scathed by one or the other, Ghostface's more neutral approach to solving conflict will serve to ensure the existence of compromise and the continued respect for the opposing beliefs within the Clan. Ghostface's philosophical outlook on life and the many ways in which it changes, I feel, will offer unique talking points and considerations that either side may not be able to make based on experiences and hardship. Having had to deal with neither of those in significant amounts, he offers a fresher perspective on common issues.
Coupled with Ghostface's unambitious personality, you will have a tom focused less on steering the Clan for his own personal gain and more interested in social equality and freedom of expression. He is a cat without an agenda in the grand scheme of things, who will learn to adjust to his position among the council and work toward the change he has always thought of but never had the status to initiate.

context. Born within the era of the Heron line, Sagekit was given her name to reflect the devotion and support of the very leadership her parents hoped to gain favor with by naming one of their children after Sagestar. Though they were of average standing within the clan, Sagefrost was raised with the level of religious love that tipped easily into zeal and it was with this mentality that she sought to give herself to Starclan in an uncommon way among mollies. She was big and bold, brash and stubborn; the traits unfitting for a queen but where she did not fit within the mold her peers crafted for her Sagefrost sought to create her own.
Throughout Minnowstar's reign, Sagefrost was constantly throwing herself into battle. With blood upon her claws she felt the high of an adrenaline rush that only fighting for Starclan could bring. Even as she was wrongfully imprisoned for the deeds of her sister, Sagefrost never gave into the idea her place on the battlefield was wrong or unholy. She finally gained the recognition and merit she had craved towards the end of the war when her victories could no longer be brushed aside and ignored. She was a known name through her actions of her claws, wit, and tenacity instead of who's nest she resided in.
Her slow crawl to fame washed away quickly with the fall of her leader. Lost, Sagefrost took several moons by which her only company was herself and the shadows she cast. Where once her name was proudly spoken, now it was whispered and frowned at; her very face a reminder of a past so many of her clanmates were determined to forget. Through the season, Sagefrost learned to be patient and watch the new regime stumble on its own.
Though she supports some of the choices the new leadership has made like forcing the lazy queens into action and providing further opportunities for her gender, it is also the new leadership that has allowed the death of multiple medicine cats and the disappearance of clanmates. Their insistence on peace and sharing the Mooncave has darkened their corner of the island where once the stars shone brightly and proudly. She has not forgotten Lichenclan is Starclan's chosen and with the whispers of innerclan conflict stirring, now is the chance to correct the wrongs Minnowstar's death has left behind. main values/plans. Seizing the opportunity to drive out Quickstar's weakness, Sagefrost would not be opposed to attacking her leader or deputy in order to replace them with herself and fellow 'leader'. While not fully a traditionalist, she does side with them for the sake of regaining control of the clan and pressing a more volatile agenda against outsiders as a whole. She wishes to close the Mooncave to everyone outside of Lichenclan and would change the guards stationed at its entrance to the tunnel paths leading to the area from the other clans.
Depending on who she stood alongside, Sagefrost would eventually have conflict with whoever was in power based on her nontraditionalist standpoint regarding the role of females within the clan and would actually press to provide equal opportunities for fighting and hunting even with backlash from the queens themselves. She is vehemently opposed to the caste system and would work to dispel it-likely causing a lot of tension with the very traditionalists she originally supports in order to seize power.
Depending on plot development, I am not opposed to Sagefrost being forced to turn against the 'leader' she helped placed in power or alternatively she has a moment of reflection where she realizes the harm she is causing the clan as a whole through her brash actions. For consequences, I think this would be a very bittersweet wrap up to her plot line and am not opposed to her death as an outcome.

Saltwhisker
Secondary Character
Option 1
LichenClan | Traditionalist/Loyalist Warrior
context.
Saltwhisker's traditional views and strong faith is no secret among the clan. In his mind, their connection to the stars is the most important thing. It separates and bestows a heavy responsibility upon them to enforce Starclan's will. This line of thought is a product of being raised during the reign of Sagestar and his mentor's training. He was a loyal warrior during those moons and continued well into Minnowstar's era. He believed by serving the Heron line, he followed the will of Starclan and thus put his jealous away. Despite doubts starting to surface, he continued that service during Minnowstar's era. He even killed a suspected traitor within his own clan to prevent her sin from infecting others. Shedding blood is nothing new to him especially if it protects their faith.
When the rebellion broke out, Minnowstar's reign ended. Yarrowstar took over and Saltwhisker hoped for a return to the old ways. Instead, he struggled underneath the new leadership. The first real concern happened after Falconfire's death. Yarrowstar denied him judgement from Starclan causing the bi-colored tom to speak out. Others soon joined his voice, but instead of listening... Yarrowstar held to his judgement. In Saltwhisker's eyes, he saw a threat to their connection to the stars. No cat was above them, yet their leader believed he was.
From that point on, their connection to Starclan seemed to struggle. Yarrowstar and Briarfall both disappeared. The former, Saltwhisker believed it was their ancestors' doing. Retribution from above. However he didn't understand why they took away the medicine cat too. Next came Lilacmist's death and Quickstar's wariness forbid all cats from the mooncave.
This stirred him into joining the meeting with Deadeye. For not the first time, he voice his concerns and worries to others that shared his worry. One thing became clear. Their way of life was threatened and it was their duty to protect their right to serve Starclan. By any means necessary.
main values/plans.
Here's how I see him approaching this plot.
While Saltwhisker isn't against attacking and seizing power through force, he lacks the skills and power. Using his support from the loyalists, he'll focus on more manipulative methods vs open hostilities. Those methods would gradually become more brutal as time went on and threats to his power grew. His first step would be to either create tense between the clan and the leadership or weaken those in charge. If sacrifices must be made, he's not against making them. Especially of those who lack faith. He'd ensure the events couldn't be traced back to him easily.
Once in a position of power, he would start making changes. Some shifting back to the older traditions including focus on prayer, faith, and loyalty to Starclan. The mooncave would be open to Lichen clan for prayer and confession. Any tunnels found would be watched or closed off, protecting them from outside threats. Conversations with the other clans would be kept to a minimal in case of sinful infection. Those who have proven their faith and loyalty will eat first, while those who fail will eat last if anything is left. These are a few of the things I can see him doing and implicating, but not everything.
I will note, I don't want to set anything in stone for this plot, but rather give a few ideas I had for it. Including the ending.
If he lives, he'll likely be banished and live out his days in the rogue lands. Depending on future chapters, I'm willing to have him make cameos or come back as support cast. I've always loved the idea of reoccurring villains in a way because the world isn't a fairy tale. Evil doesn't always die, but it's not always the threat it was.
If he dies, the clan will have a decision to make. Either allow him rites and face Starclan's judgement or leave him to rot in the Dark Forest by denying them to him. If allowed Starclan's judgement, he will accept their decision and submit to it. This can range from banishment to the Dark Forest or something worse. If he's denied rites, his anger and bitterness will consume him while he wanders the Dark Forest. Making him a shadow of his former self.
These are at least two endings I see happening, but if other ideas come up, I'm more than willing to listen and build upon them.
