The Apostles is a warrior cats roleplay based in northern Wisconsin. On Lake Superior, the wild cats have made the Apostle Islands their home. It is on these islands - Rocky Island and South Twin Island - that the clan and tribe cats have lived in a peace and harmony that ebbs and flows with the tide.
But as the tides turn, so does the truce that binds them to one another; and as the water raises, a darkness follows, an evil that will end in bloodshed and violence.
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
⧫ Newtpaw is all things messy, a rowdy young man with a quick-to-come grin and obnoxious streak a mile long. He has a hard time melding together two halves of a whole: what he feels is right, and what has been shoveled down his maw as law. Perhaps due to their mother coddling them so and keeping the brother-sister duo close despite their difference in gender, or perhaps because like Wavepaw he is of a newer, more open-minded generation. For the life of him Newtpaw cannot reconcile that his sister, his best friend and - though oftentimes nagging - should be considered worthless but for the simple fact that she is a girl.
⧫ His want to make Saltwhisker proud of him often leads to Newtpaw spewing what Wavepaw refers to as 'imbecilic word vomit'. He always finds himself deeply regretting his harsh words and groveling to his sister for forgiveness in secrecy. In this sense - his own inability to voice how wrong he feels when he is told to snub his nose as Wavepaw for being a girl - he deems himself a coward. Yet he is too young to be assured in this forward way of thinking, a trait that is subject to change as he grows older and learns to think for himself, rather than to think what he is told.
⧫ Newtpaw very secretly looks up to Minnowstar, and such idolization is a foundation that he is ashamed to want to build upon. It makes no sense to him that should Lichenclan go to war, they fight with one half of their numbers. Surely if Minnowstar has the propensity of battle prowess, so to do other she-cat's hold the same possibility at the tips of their claws. With this thought in mind, he often finds himself paying close attention to his mentor's fighting techniques. Though he's been taught that she-cat's should not fight, he wants to know as much as possible in hopes that he can help Wavepaw achieve her goal of breaking free of her so-called destiny.
What are your personal plans for the character?
⧫ Newtpaw has an adventurer's soul and will find himself getting into plenty of trouble with Wavepaw by his side. Though whether his sister is there because of her own curiosity or attempting to keep him from his mischief-making will remain to be seen. He has an avid imagination of what the other clans are truly like, and wants to see for his own eyes whether Thistleclan and Redwoodclan are villainous heathens like he's been taught.
⧫ While he believes greatly in Wavepaw's abilities to be a break in the status-quo, Newtpaw doesn't like the fact that the she-cat continues to try to rope their mother into her own ideals. As far as he's concerned, Violetshade has lived the soft, day-to-day life as a care-taker for far too long and he worries that should his mother be thrown into battle that she will perish like their father did. Newtpaw's want to protect his mama will play a big role in many arguments with his sister.
⧫ Despite having his sister as his biggest confidant, Newtpaw is unable to voice the idea that his eyes tend to linger longer than appropriate on other toms. He is terrified that should Saltwhisker see the direction his wandering gaze takes him, that his uncle will cat on and thus oust him amongst the clan. He keeps his secret close to his heart, and finds himself praying to Starclan to remove what he views as an illness within. As he grows older, Newtpaw is subject to either embrace his sexuality or reject it completely based on IC events.
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
> Of Pestilence and Plague—born amid a sudden and devastating influx of the sickness that ailed them before, although his mother went to great lengths to remove them from the risk of infection, Loon is no stranger to the impact of the sickness they strove for so long to combat. Watching his father ail to an unshakeable cough that only seemed to grow with the passage of days, like his mother, he watched on helplessly as his father’s strength waned and he succumbed altogether. Loon shares his mother’s apprehensions about the sickness, though he rarely voices them, and though the grief he carries proceeding his father’s death is still a fresh wound yet to fully recover, Loon seems to stubbornly resent the idea of lingering long in thought on the matter itself. Still, though he is loath to voice anything bordering on pessimistic, he feels some doubt in regards to the tellers abilities after his father’s (in his opinion) avoidable death and can’t shake his resentment for his inability to save him.
> Strangers Beyond the Shore—although many moons have passed since the Clans last visited their shores, Loon seems deeply fascinated by their ways of life. Deeply intrigued, he desperately wants to learn more about their self-acclaimed allies, though a small part of him worries for the debt they owe them with the offering of the life-saving herbs. Despite this, there is nothing he wants more than to lay eye on a Clan cat and speak to one himself.
> Teller O’ Teller—though Loon knows better than to voice such things aloud, he has little confidence in the abilities of those who are currently in power within the Tribe. Partially blaming them for the many deaths suffered by the Tribe, Loon, fed by the opinions of his deeply embittered mother, desperately seeks change that might land them on more sure footing in the future.
What are your personal plans for the character?
> Abandoning Tradition—although his childhood was deeply entrenched in tales of old and despite his reverence of Tribe traditions, in the future as the Tribe becomes more familiar with Clan politics, Loon’s understanding of tradition will be put under question, paving the way for the fostering of new ideas and customs that will allow Tribe and Clan to leave in harmony.
> Toxic Positivity—desperately wanting to transcend Sky’s legacy, Loon reveres the she-cat’s memory as well as her accomplishments and the decisions she made for the betterment of the Clan. However, a result of only hearing of the previous teller’s successes rather than her shortcomings, Loon’s perception of Sky is one that is of the belief of a certain, dogged optimism and sureness in oneself. Maintaining this belief and projecting those values through his actions, Loon has a hard time coping with negative emotions in himself and others and constantly masks and dissuades them through forced optimism and positivity—an act that takes a significant tole on him and leads to many conflicted emotions and startling outbursts.
> Indebtedness to One’s Blood—though only vaguely, Loon understands the importance of continuing Sky’s legacy, however the thought of settling down and raising a family in the future seems like a daunting task. He would much rather succeed her in actions that strong young, however the idea is not entirely out of the question. For now, though, he wishes to make her proud by replicating the stories he was told.
> A Discovery—Loon shares Sky’s adventurous nature and openness to new ideas and concepts; in the future, he might even have the privilege of uncovering some new knowledge or being one of the first to stumble upon some new, life-saving information.
> The Truth—in a time of hardship in which Loon questions himself and his worthiness of inheriting Sky’s blood, he shares honest words with a tribemate/family member that opens his eyes towards Sky’s similar struggles, opening him to his feelings and allowing him to accept the negative emotions he so often hides from.
Member name: latitha Character name: Bluestorm How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)? Thanks to being raised by Poppyfrost, she has grown up with a distrust in their leader and medicine cat, and by association, any 'Starclan fanatic' in their clan. She's willing to sit and listen to the ramblings of her clan-mates, to feign interest with a nod here and there, but she truly doesn't share the clan sentiment that Starclan is all powerful and sacred. She believes in them and respects their authority, yes, but in the end she believes that cats should take matters into their own paws with a limited amount of guidance.
Still, despite her contrasting beliefs, she doesn't have the heart to step out of line. She only wants peace, considering the blood that's being shed, and that especially applies to the inner-workings of Lichenclan. She's devastated at Minnowstar's thirst for battle and vengeance, yet she feels that she has no place to speak, fearful that, if she did, she might be shunned by the rest of her clan -- the clan she cares so much for and only wants to see prosper.
With her way of thinking, the growing rebellion has definitely caught her eye. She's a keen and clever observer, after all, so it's no surprise she finds out about the movement. Inside she hopes that they can become strong enough to do something to turn the tide, that the cries of fanatics won't overpower them. Still, she doesn't have the courage to fully support them, so uncertain about who to trust in the midst of all the chaos -- besides her own family, of course. She cares too much about Lichenclan to make a hasty decision that may throw everything into an even worse disarray.
What are your personal plans for the character? - I'm really interested to see what kind of dynamic she'll have in the clan, whether she bends to Minnowstar's harsh reign or she finally musters the courage to join the rebellion. Towards the end, at least, I want her to be involved in the turning tide of the clan, whichever way it goes, since she wants to walk in Egretfeather's pawsteps and be a strong advocate for her clan.
- Her family relations would be neat to explore, too, granted that her family members get adopted. If not, I want to see her get involved in the lives of her clan-mates, though she is reserved and stand-offish. She would make a good mentor, too, given her caring nature, plus her fierceness in protecting Lichenclan. Her interactions with others in general would be something I'd like to explore.
- With all the craziness going on in Lichenclan currently, maybe she could find a friend that becomes close enough for her to share her thoughts with, someone she trusts to not use her thoughts against her. It would be a good bit of angst if they did actually end up betraying her, reinforcing her mistrusting nature. Or maybe they could grow into something more than friendship over time?
Member name: Sloth Character name: Wilder (Maybe change to Flint or Oleander if possible) How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)? My aspirations for Wilder are for him to follow along with Lily and her power grabs, his desperation for her approval and unwillingness to anger her making him a ‘yes man’ to her every whim and desire. He will be a faithful lackey as she attempts to seize power over other rogues and will call others out on plotting against her, perhaps even going so far as to accuse someone of sabotage without proper evidence should he notice her being displeased with them, all with the goal to make himself appear more favorable to her. The inevitable shift in him will happen when he realizes his attempts are still not good enough for her; his paranoia leading him to believe she is out to finally be rid of him after one too many failures. Perhaps he will turn against her, believing the world is better off without her control and work hard to tear her and her organize down from within. What are your personal plans for the character? - Initially a die hard supporter of Lily, Wilder will fight those who wish to challenge her despite his impaired vision and not having the battle aptitude of Hawthorne. Perhaps he looses a fight resulting in further resentment towards his younger ‘siblings’ as he feels valueless compared to them. - On the hunt to prove himself, Wilder goes looking for trouble in Thistleclan to solidify his hate but instead of coming across vicious monsters he finds a queen with kits or a mentor with their apprentice. He’s forced to see the clan as a collect of cats instead of shadowed heathens as he’s comes to believe. - Realizing perhaps Lily is wrong about the clans, he begins to question other things she’s told him as well and decides to share his suspicions of Hawthornes origins. This could possibly lead to the two connecting for the first time and Wilder begins to feel he’s missed out on being friends with his brother who’s tried to be kind to him for so many moons. - Depending on how or if any of this plays out, Wilder could decide to try and over throw Lily from within; fed up with her cruelty and lies he plays the game until he sets up a plan to attempt her demise(?) or he gets caught and is killed/maimed/chased away.
Member name: Lightningtrail Character name: Poppy How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)? Poppy believes strongly in her mother's mission and wants to see it through. She truly believes that Thistleclan is a bane upon the island, and assumes that the rest of the clans are similarly evil. She has been raised to hate and does so earnestly. While never meeting Sophie herself, she has an idealized image of her that has been implanted in her mind from the stories she has been told. She was a perfect cat, kind and powerful, who was murdered in cold blood by Thistleclan. She hates Thistleclan and wants to help her mother either kidnap kittens in order to rescue them from a life of suffering and killing or to destroy the warriors of Thistleclan who perpetuate the horrible nature of the clan.
In this way, she doesn't necessarily believe that every cat in Thistleclan is born evil. Instead, she believes that as the kittens grow up, they are turned into murderous monsters, and are indoctrinated into an evil system. Because of this, she is fascinated by how a happy or kind young cat could be corrupted by the clan's society and will seek out opportunities to watch younger cats interacting with those that are older. She would never admit this to her mother, because this curiosity could drive her to introduce herself to clan members, and asking deeper questions about clan life. While Poppy only knows what her mother has taught her, she is still younger and impressionable, and it's possible that she could be shown that Thistleclan isn't quite as bad as Lily claims. Even if Thistleclan cats managed to convince her that they aren't completely evil and corrupt, her loyalty to her family trumps all. It is highly unlikely that she would ever turn on her mother or her plans unless her mother chases her away. She is much more likely to attempt to explain to her mother her newfound insight.
She knows nothing of her original mother and family and sees Lily as her only mother. Hawthorne and Wilder are her only siblings, and she would never betray them as long as they keep her around.
What are your personal plans for the character? - Poppy follows her mother wholeheartedly and supports her in her quest to destroy Thistleclan. She personally involves herself in the situation and challenges any cat that may question Lily's mission. - She spies on apprentices and their mentors, watching them from afar. Maybe she gets caught and is chased off, but her curiosity will get her to return time and time again. - She eventually meets a younger cat (either an apprentice or young warrior) that she decides has not been completely brainwashed by Thistleclan adults. She talks with them about what life is actually like in the clan. This could lead to more meetings with young cats, where she learns that Thistleclan is not as evil as Lily says they are. - She confronts her mother, saying that she's been talking with some of the cats and explaining what they say about the clan. She is then put in her place by Lily, and decides that it is foolish to trust any clan cat about anything, or is chased away. - If Lily keeps her around, she then uses her kinship with the apprentice/apprentices to betray them, giving Lily an advantage in her cause. - If Lily chases her out, she continues to meet with the apprentice/apprentices, finding them to be the only relationship she has left. She either is turned away by Thistleclan for being a rogue and her family ties and she grows spiteful of Lily, working to destroy her, or she is allowed by Thistleclan to give information about her movement that could help them defeat her.

member name: Illi
character name: Tansystrike
-----------------------------------
how will this character intergrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (ie. what are their opinions on current events)?:
> Tansystrike's rebellious tendencies don't appear to be slowing or changing despite them being the cause of him becoming a warrior 3 moons later than his sister. Instead of admitting to himself that his behaviour is the cause, he has formed a jaded view of his father and refuses to pay attention to his wishes or wants, often going out of his way to bring an insult or snarky comment into his father's day.
> His entire view of the warrior code and his clan shifted when his mother was killed. He sees no point and no end to the war that is still continuing and would be more than happy to smash both clans heads together at a chance of some resolve to the conflict. His respect for his clan is dwindling and he doesn't hold back from showing it.
> Tansystrike is at a point where he is unsure of which path to take in his life. He has motivation to attend battle training but more often prefers to do this on his own and whilst this provides his clan a sense of loyalty from him, he does not share the same feelings. He is, at heart, a troubled tom riddled with and crippled by grief.
> His main feeling towards the tribe is one of curiosity but after the sand bar washing away and their access to the tribe being cut off, he can't help but feel distrust building within him. He feels that the tribe may have brought the sickness on purpose, to weaken them but it is something he is undecided upon and until a time where he can get answers for himself, it is likely to remain unresolved.
-----------------------------------
what are your personal plans for the character?:
> Tansystrike is going to become more rebellious, his altercations with his father and sister most likely becoming more prevalent over time. His attitude towards Clovershade is likely to grow meaner and both of these could either end in him getting in serious trouble if he becomes violent or someone helping him come to terms with why he is acting this way.
> The clan is unlikely to notice much of a shift in his behaviour and he will be able to pass himself off as a loyal hardworking clan member without much effort which could in turn allow him to slip under the radar with certain things and in situations.
> He will grow and if the clans are able to reconnect with the Tribe, I would like for him to find solace away from home, in an environment and atmosphere different from the warring territories of the clans that he has been brought up within.
> Finding a love interest would certainly be interesting and I think it would be good for him to have that someone to put his trust into and perhaps slowly bring him out of the state that he is in.

Member name: Silverfire Character name: Hawthorne How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)? Well, considering it says in the adopts that he’s helping Lily out, he doesn’t have that big of an issue with what she’s doing. Though if possible, I’d like him to not enjoy the fighting but still reluctantly do it. What are your personal plans for the character?: oh boy. After the fight, I’d love to have him decide he doesn’t want to fight. Why? I want him to have someone he cares about die (preferably an NPC crush) in the fight with TC. I want him to eventually learn about his heritage and even attempt to rejoin TC. He’ll get very interested in clan life no matter what. Maybe he’ll try to join RWC if he’s rejected by TC. Maybe not. He’s gonna realize that his upbringing was not healthy somehow though.
He’d be a dumb, arrogant, loyal, loving tom though. He’d love his siblings, any mate he takes, and his true family. He’s a complete doofus who wouldn’t understand why others don’t agree that he’s amazing. More lovable than hateable, he’d have a very strong will and would be stubborn as all hell. He’s not gonna give up on something.
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes’ plot (i.e. what are their opinions on current events)?
› War Contributions — Lily’s usurpation allows Lily’s spawn and her followers to claim the reigns of the rogue effort. A favored member of his adoptive family, Hawthorne selflessly offers his body in the pursuit of his mother’s ambitions. He grows further interested in their members and weighing their integrity and usefulness in the battle effort.
› Different Yet The Same— hawthorne upholds a traditional rogue mentality. having lost his foster mother to thistleclan warriors—in addition to his foster mother sophie—he greatly abhors them, although his opinions on the clans and their customs will change over time with continued exposure.
› To Know One’s Enemies— an insatiable curiosity and drive to accomplish Lily’s ambitions lead Hawthorne to investigate their adversaries. Time prowling the borders and the occasional close call and interaction allow him to better grasp their customs and weaknesses; in addition to developing a deeper understanding, Hawthorne becomes plagued by feelings of déjà vu and a piqued interest in the Clans that goes beyond prodding for an advantage.
What are your personal plans for the character?
heavy focus on strengthening the rogue efforts to overthrow the clans—while hawthorne will have interactions with the clans, his main focus for a time will be ensuring lily’s ambitions come into fruition. feelings of indebtedness tie him to lily, encouraging and unshakeable loyalty and support of his wishes and his own personal upholding of her beliefs. intentions are to focus on the idea of living with a foot in two separate worlds. a fascination with clan life and later a feeling of loss will conflict with the beliefs he was raised into; eventually self-loathing and disillusionment will urge him to usurp his own caregiver and betray his own family in search of justice for the family he lost. m
› Betrayal— concerns of heritage arise as the dichotomy within hawthorne’s makeshift family grows. word of his true heritage is revealed through some means (whether through oleander or the clan itself) that lead him to pursue the truth.
› Denial— when word spreads of hawthorne’s heritage, the tom denies his past and seeks to prove his loyalty to the rogue effort through extreme and risky behavior. what relations may have been formed over the border will be destroyed in an effort to reaffirm his position within the family and the rogue group as well as to cope with the truth—one that contradicts all of his beliefs. a moment of vulnerability will make hawthorne extremely malleable and open to influence, weaponizing these relations for the sake of the cause.
› Thicker Than Blood— feeling misguided and taken advantage of by lily, while entertaining her plight for a time, hawthorne will begin to amass support within the rogue body, himself planning to forge a coup strong enough to over lily at the height of their success. realizing he no longer owes her his loyalty, tension between the two will steadily grow until they capsize.
› Silver Tongue— relations with a thistleclan warrior leads to the beginnings of a friendship. piqued but wary, hawthorne pursues the relationship with good intentions initially; however, realizing a certain advantage in close ties with the enemy, hawthorne stoops to coercion to acquire more information. depending on how/when the relationship pans out, hawthorne may become more fond or abhorrent of the clans.
