DEADEYE
LICHENCLAN
flame point tom with blue eyes
warrior
cis male
47 moons
Appearance
May I
Though Deadeye is taller than his sister, Rotflower, he still stands at about average height. He carries more muscle on his bones than she does but he is not pure muscle— he is lean and agile. This allows him to strike in battle with accuracy, making up for him not being a heavy hitter.
Deadeye’s pelt is thick and long. It requires quite a bit of care, and Deadeye indulges in it. He prides himself on looking presentable at every waking moment. His fur is mostly cream in color, and turns to darker oranges toward his extremities and in some faint patches on his back.
Deadeye’s muzzle is slightly squished against his face, shorter than most others. His face is round and slightly square-ish. His ears are very triangular and tufted at their tips. His eyes are a striking blue, matching the lake on a bright sunny day, though Deadeye is anything but. His nose is a light pink.
Personality
stand unshaken
Deadeye is a loyal traditionalist LichenClan warrior. He is unwavering and passionate about his Clan, or what it used to be, at least, and in his values. He is skilled and charming, but also unpleasant and likes to create confrontation. Ultimately he is loyal to StarClan and bends to their will, or what he thinks is their will. He is closest with his family, but does not enjoy them particularly. He tries to surround himself with those that think similarly to him, and distances himself from untraditional cats.
+Charming: Despite Deadeye’s often pessimistic demeanor, he knows when to have fun. He can be charming and flirty when he wants to, and is helped by his confidence. He knows he’s one of the Clan’s most valuable warriors (in his eyes, anyway) and uses his charm to keep close to other loyalist cats. He’s assertive and not afraid to speak his mind. He still sees himself as high-standing even though the Clan has taken on new leadership and is changing to be less traditional right before his eyes.
+Skilled: Deadeye is a skilled warrior. He is strong and quick, striking with accuracy. He is also skilled mentally. His life of war has made him experienced and intelligent. He is a hard worker and continues to seek out ways to become a better warrior. He also knows what’s good for his Clan, and tries to use his skills to help things go back to the way they were, but it seems like he has yet to learn that not many share his views anymore.
-Unmoving: Deadeye is unmoving in his beliefs and values. Toms being strong warriors who protect and care for the Clan, and she-cats aiding by providing them with strong warriors, he believes, is the way things should be. That is how Caveflower raised him, and he can’t imagine it being any different. He is extremely devoted to StarClan and is simply unwilling to change in his ways. This also makes him controlling and stubborn in things unrelated to his values. This can make him unbearable to be around.
-Confrontational: Deadeye’s entire life has been war and confrontation so that is what feels natural to him. He will go out of his way to create confrontations and in a way, it comforts him. It makes him feel in control when he’s the one to start it. He will oppose views with someone just for the sake of argument. He can also be moody. He likes to spar, sometimes without warning his sparring partner. This makes him toxic and unpleasant to be around for some. He does not see a problem with him creating confrontation.
History
amidst a crashing world?
Deadkit was the first born among his littermates to Waterlily and Sweetbee alongside his sister, Rotkit, and brother, Tick-kit in leaf-bare of the 2019 season. Oblivious of the meaning to his name and the circumstances surrounding his birth, Deadkit loved his parents and siblings and spent time playing to become a strong warrior.
Within some moons, though, he learned. He learned what his name meant and was disgusted with it; he wasn’t dead, so why name him Deadkit? This made him feel estranged from Waterlily, and he started spending more time with his grandmother, Caveflower. She taught him the way things should be: all about StarClan, the great Heron line and how wrong Waterlily was for taking Sweetbee as a mate and tainting their family name. Waterlily’s wrongdoings only motivated him further to do things the right way and become a warrior his Clan could be proud of. Though he distanced himself from his parents, Deadkit still tried to be close with his siblings and encourage them to see things the correct way.
In his apprenticeship, Deadpaw was given to Duckpuddle to train under. Duckpuddle helped further instill traditionalist values in him. Additionally, she was a very tough mentor, but Deadpaw was determined. She helped push him to become even stronger, and together they spent time discussing the war, which Deadpaw wanted to be in. He deeply wanted to support his Clan and Minnowstar. Though he wasn’t able to participate in any major battles in his apprenticeship, he honed his skills and by the time he became a warrior, he was ready.
A young warrior, Deadeye participated in LichenClan’s attack on RedwoodClan where LichenClan lost. Deadeye was frustrated with the loss and wanted his Clan to be better. In the meantime, he’s taken notice of Rotflower becoming closer with Caveflower. He cautiously starts to spend more time with his sister when previously he was too caught up in his training to make time for her.
His Clan allying themselves with rogues did not sit well with him, but he supposed he was ok with it if it would help them win the war, which proved to be the case when they helped LichenClan defeat RedwoodClan in their ambush on LichenClan. Deadeye continued to begrudgingly support Minnowstar; she was his leader and he was one of the most loyal cats in the Clan, but even he could see through loyalty and recognize that something wasn’t right with Minnowstar. And, like any good loyalist, Lily acting as their deputy enraged him. StarClan had no place in her heart and she had no LichenClan blood, therefore she had no right to become their deputy. Deadeye’s frustrations drove him to aid in interrogating and tormenting younger warriors. He didn’t want them in his Clan if they were not going to be loyal, StarClan-abiding warriors.
An older warrior now, Deadeye fought in the final battle and was not afraid to attack his Clanmates who turned out to be rebels. In his excitement and determination, Deadye assumed that his family could hold their own. He turned out to be wrong when his brother Tickfur was killed when he had his back turned. Deadeye only discovered his body after the battle had ended, and the loss of his brother threw him into grief. LichenClan was ultimately defeated, and the tom is still frustrated about the loss to this day. He likes to think about how he could have done things better. Deadeye has not been appreciative of the newfound peace, as he has practically only known war all his life, and searches for conflict constantly, mostly taking his frustration out on his sister. He hates LichenClan’s new leadership and is waiting for things to become rocky again. He is still mourning his brother.
When the flood in the season of 2023 came and LichenClan was forced to shelter in the birch forest, Deadeye was unhappy. He’d much rather have spent his summer fishing on the shore. Sharing RedwoodClan’s resources also did not sit well with him, but he was relatively okay with it if it meant that it would help his Clan survive. Caveflower and Rotflower’s recent litters have also taken his interest, and he’s keen to guide the kits in the right direction. He wants his Clan to grow strong again in their own territory before leaf-bare arrives.
