The Apostles is a warrior cats roleplay based in northern Wisconsin. On Lake Superior, the wild cats have made the Apostle Islands their home. It is on these islands - Rocky Island and South Twin Island - that the clan and tribe cats have lived in a peace and harmony that ebbs and flows with the tide.
But as the tides turn, so does the truce that binds them to one another; and as the water raises, a darkness follows, an evil that will end in bloodshed and violence.
Character name: Smoke that curls around hallowed moon
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
Smoke will begin by being extremely skeptical of the Clans, especially after hearing that RWC considers them in their debt and TC/LC are spying and out to kill them respectively. He harbors a deep love for his tribe and doesn't want to see it suffer any longer. After the loss of Cardinal and the second round of sickness, he fears for their future. As well, His meek nature will make this hard to articulate however, and he'll start getting down about how nobody regards him or his concerns.
After awhile of this some point, he will begin to suspect that there is a bit more to the reason behind the treatment he has received because of his heritage, and want to know more about both Black Bear and Rain. This will send him down the path of hearing about the surviving tales from the great hunger. He'll want to move toward finding the truth of their tribe's history. This will also lead him to begin trying to get closer to Rain's heirs.
This process wont be a linear one, and my require support from friends along the way, but he'll know his family secret. Once he, does he will become gripped with frustration at the way his family shouldered the consequences of their history. His image of the tribe will shatter, and he'll flip to the side of clan support, convinced that their new perspectives are the way forward for the tribe that has yet to come to grips with it's past, and will help them find a place in the future.
What are your personal plans for the character?
Smoke works for the Guards, but his forte has never been tangoing with dangerous animals, and therefore will probably face a bit of backlash for that. He is more engineering-minded, and his paws find new ways to arrange and order his surroundings. He may be an outcast socially but his skills with the land are valued in the aftermath of blizzards and storms, where he sets to work repairing, shoring up defenses, clearing brush, and other civil tasks.
I want him to eventually become liked, (popular even? Am I that good?) but his core group will consist of a small group of his closest friends from both clan and tribe, and eventual mate. After learning about his "curse", he'll feel the need to break it, and may do so with a clan cat.

Member name: FALLENREAPER Character name: SPIDERPAW How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
At first, Spiderpaw will be against and reject the rebellion's idea. All he's known is that Lichenclan's leader and her medicine cat is the closest connection to starclan, and angering her would not benefit them. A fear placed in him by his environment rather than Shadowface herself. At this point in his life, he views Minnowstar's/Cinderface's words as natural law.
However, things that develop in Lichenclan might change that.
With his blindness, most cats disregard him as background rather than an actual cat.
Quickstrike- He loves his father deeply and enjoys the freedom he has with the older cat's distance. However, a sense of depression and loneliness had started to bloom in his heart. Though it's not said out loud, Spiderpaw feels like a wall is set between them. One he can't climb or overcome, and it left him frustrated. Little does he know, it's one he's made himself.
Shadowface- A bitter hate nestled itself into his heart when it comes to his mother. He believes her defiance and rejection of starclan has cursed him with the loss of his vision. While he holds firm memories of her love and to some extent, still loves her... some of her actions have left him confused. A rift every growing with each new conflict.
Cresspaw- Jealous of his brother since unlike him, he wasn't born blind. Cresspaw has every ability to become what he has to struggle to achieve. It's left the brothers with a bit of a divide that has grown over the moons. It doesn't mean he doesn't love his brother and will show small glimpses of it.
What are your personal plans for the character?
I aim to explore how a blind cat might fit into a clan, both how he could aid and overcome his short comings. Spiderpaw will be my first blind character, and he will be a challenge for me. I hope I can remember he is missing one of his key senses, sight.
Due to his disability, I expect the clan to either pity or shun him. This treatment will force him to find a way around his disability and fulfill his desire to become a warrior. To be seen as something other than a burden on those around him.
One way I figure he could do this is by depending on others. Sometimes even relying on those who he has grown to resent ones like his mother or brother. It is a fact of his life he will loathe with the growing moons and twist him into becoming a more vicious version of himself.
In a small way, I would like him to gain a taste of being recognized as if his dream had come true. Eventually, it would become an addiction that will drive him to pursue it without foresight and ultimately become a tool for others. At some point, this would lead to a big regret or realization he was wrong. He will get a 'glimpse' that being in Minnowstar's good graces has a price in the end, and it's not one he's willing to pay.
In the end, his dreams go up in smoke, and he spends the rest of his life trying to make up for his mistakes. Knowing that Minnowstar might bring the whole Lichenclan into ruin if her madness continues.
I'm currently loose with the idea as I don't want to set anything in stone until I've talked with Maxx and others involved in the Lichen clan. I also know how stories can change from their original goals into something else, and I'm open to that.
Member name: Immortes / augur on discord Character name: Tawnypaw How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
- Her response to the outsiders: Tawnypaw has had no love for the outsiders to begin with due to the death of her mother, and after the flood, her fur is constantly on end. Due to her powerful devotion to Thistleclan, it's very much possible that she will not only become rather blind to Thievingstar's increase of paranoia and madness, but also push for a more aggressive response to the outsiders. She is significantly on-edge, since she knows that in this state of weakness after the flood, there will be something in the dark waiting to pounce on them. Openly, she may express frustration towards her sister Pinepaw, who is not quite as extreme in her hatred of outsiders. One day or another that is going to get her into trouble. The rogues after all are the reason that her mother is dead. Perhaps this fiery attitude is due to her youth and inexperience in battle.
Nevertheless, Tawnypaw isn't reckless. She understands that in the wake of the flood, the clan is in no shape for fighting and she doesn't want to make things worse than it already is. The battered, ruined nature of the clan bothers her considerably on an emotional level, even if as a 6 moon old apprentice she cannot do much.
Tawnypaw's fanatical devotion to outsider hatred has strained her relationship with her sister Pinepaw, who's sweet but weaker nature gives Tawnypaw a headache. She is afraid that her sister will soon fall victim to the same fate that her mother did, and so has very forcibly taken her sister under her wing.
- The Curfew : This is perhaps one of the worst things that has ever been concieved in Thistleclan history. To her, this just seems to be a way to avoid solving the problem, to sweep it under the rug. She doesn't see herself challenging Thievingstar just yet but the feeling of being confined is getting on her nerves.
- Her family : Another topic that is quick to get Tawnypaw angry or grief stricken. She doesn't see how her father could have done what he did. She holds him in low regard, with bitter and resent. Given that she is a child who has been told a one-sided story, it will be a while before she is able to understand that he was blinded by love, and not motivated by disloyalty to the clan. After all, it will truly be a whlie before she can truly love someone else as a mate. I would love to expand on this in the future.
What are your personal plans for the character?
possible plot ideas / thread starters - exploring family dynamics. she does not get along with her father and her sister, so she's taking leaps into the big unknown without the hope that somebody will catch her. a good thread would be her paying the price for her recklessness, and learning that its best not to leap into problems headfirst. it's not surprising that the whole episode of her father has left her feeling disillusioned with the idea of family and
- repairing relationships with her sister pinepaw and allowing her younger sister to be on her own for once.
Member name: Owl! Character name: Lakesong (I'd love if I could change her suffix? My top contenders for a new one would be Lakelight (for her bright personality), Lakebloom (for her nurturing personality), Lakesplash (for her boldness), or Lakedawn (a combination of bright and nurturing, though more warm/comforting than fiery))
I'm also wondering if I could change her face claim to this kibby (seal tabby/lynx point) or this one (tortie point)— if these changes are too big I am definitely okay with keeping her original name and/or face claim!
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?:
Lake isn't too pleased with Thievingstar, as expected, given that she isn't the most mentally stable cat and Lake believes in the need for strong leadership. Especially in these times, with tensions grating between the other clans and with the rogues. They cannot afford to take any missteps, and she doesn't trust Thievingstar to make the right choices. She's also never liked her leader's firm stance against rogues, adding to her dislike of Thievingstar. She's not entirely approving of her cousin Stagflight either, because in her mind if you can't be a parent to your kits then there's no way should you be trusted as a deputy. She understood that he and Shadowheart had likely had an agreement where he didn't have to be in the picture... but he was perfectly okay with his daughters being orphans after her death. She believes that he should have owned up and stepped in, and was thankful that she was there to look after the kits. What would have happened to them without her?
She remains fully convinced that a rogue saved her life, after she put her pride aside and accepted their help. Lake thinks that if they were nicer to outsiders then the outsiders would be nicer to them. She's the teeniest bit smug about a non-clan cat helping Thistleclan out, but that's masked by the HUGE amount of concern for what is in store for them. They are a clan without their home, without their territory and security that brings. With a leader like Thievingstar, a deputy she doesn't particularly have faith in either, and such a young and inexperienced medicine cat— she has absolutely no idea what is in their future. Regardless, she's determined to do her best to help Thistleclan through this, and stand up to authority when she deems it necessary... which is very likely at some point in the future. If it comes to it, she's ready and willing to fight for her clan— whether it be against forces inside or outside.
(Since I'm new I definitely don't know everything about the TC plot, I'm mostly basing this off of the latest clan news!)
What are your personal plans for the character?:
I LOVE myself a good momma character, so I would definitely want her to be as big of a parental figure as possible for Tawnypaw and Pinepaw, more of a mother than a cool cousin-aunt. She would be quite similar in personality to both of them, combining Pinepaw's apparent kindness and Tawny's more spitfire nature (maybe they get it from her? Who knows haha), so I believe she would get along well with them. I know she'll be a lot more innately trusting than them and most of Thistleclan, as she's so openly accepting of others. That doesn't mean she would be easy to fool, though, she's just more likely to give a cat a chance.
I do think that Pine and Tawny will have some impact on her view of rogues, as their mother was killed by one, and I'd like Lake to struggle with that. Also because of the recent events of the rogue group driving them out of their territory. She does believe that the hostility of rogues was greatly influenced Thistleclan's own hostility, and she's doing her best to get her clanmates to be more gentle towards them. But she isn't sure whether it's making a difference, just a few cats being more open to rogues isn't enough. The whole clan needs to make a change. Maybe her second cousins? first cousins once removed? would influence an alteration of her opinion, since I can't imagine they like rogues very much. It would also rely on future interactions between her and any rogues— all of this would require plotting with people involved with her character.
It's also definitely possible that she could connect with Stagflight more, maybe try to see his side? Since she is open-minded, I think she would be willing to try and listen to his side if he offered it. Though it would likely take some arguing beforehand, because right now she'd still be pretty upset and short with him. Stagflight would have to be willing to put some work in to mend their relationship too. Lake might realize the importance of family and want to reconnect with those she has left, making her a little more open to working with Stag. This is especially after the loss of Pheasantclaw, who she wasn't very close with, and she may regret that she didn't make the best use of the time she had with him.
At some point I'd love for her to expand her family, though I'm sure it wouldn't be totally smooth sailing. She's always wanted to be a mom, and parenting Pinepaw and Tawnypaw will definitely remind her of that dream. Since she isn't getting any younger. She might take another "abandoned" litter under her wing or find a mate and have a litter with them. Maybe she'll rush into a relationship, get tangled in some out-of-clan romance, or whatever kind of road blocks and drama can be cooked up.

How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
Pebblefoot has always been a bit at odds with her stance on the war. She was raised during the time when Heathertar was rallying for a more peaceful way of life among the wartime struggles. She along with her parents, Finchstar, and the others than believed Heatherstars message, strove to live as if peace was an attainable ideal, both in the clan and the forest at large. She and those like her tried their best to live with it looming over her, and she remembers a time where the cats of RWC were free to pursue other interests besides hunting for the soldiers, and training to kill their neighbors. The time she wishes would return was full of culture and before the famine, times of plenty, where cats could pursue families and enjoy debate, spars and sport, and quality time with others spent truly being themselves.
She cannot deny, however, that this time was marred by death and destruction, and over the moons, a little bit of jadedness has been thrown into an otherwise bubbly character. Pebblefoot does not believe in the war and thinks it's nothing but a drain on the forest's resources. If she were a Pebblestar, they would have withdrawn immediately. However, she does recognize the gravity of the situation, and despite her very vocal and staunch anti-war position and support of the Tribe, he has been wary of the perceived "lukewarm" stance that Finchstar is taking toward the war, with RWC doing what she calls belong "actively on the defense." She watched her family die, one by one, due to her mother's similar tactics, until only 3 of them were left, and would like to avoid a repeat of that happening again. If the war would end the day after tomorrow, she'd happily spend tomorrow on the front lines if it meant she would actually help bring it to a swift end. If she was called upon to do her duty (which she has been in the past) she would fight with all the fervor her tradition demanded.
What are your personal plans for the character?
Another way she feels at odds, is with herself. Pebble cannot stand the idea of being tied down, to a tom, to a place, or to a cause. This was sufficient enough to drive her fickle nature in her youth, and it still is. However, now that she's older, the thought of family has crossed her mind more than once and idea of kits now does battle with the idea that kits will restrict her. I'd like her to eventually find that cat that she loves more than she's iffy about, with a possible fling along the way?
Pebblefoot will be 100% bardstyle. She is noted for her sound and while she speaks her mind on most anything, more are inclined to listen to her singing voice. Music comes to her with ease, and often she will be found singing something to herself, or to a plant. She believes singing is one part of some kind of immutable and inexplicable science of spiritual health, one that she believes Orchidshade isn't very privy to despite her status as medicine cat. To that end, she'll do her best to act as one that can lift the mental states of others, with smiles, song, amusement, distraction, and anything else she can muster. This will extend to the lowest of apprentices to the ruling body. Having known Finchstar for awhile, she'll have watched his decline and seen echoes of Heatherstar's story, and will want to assist him in trying to claw out of the hole that he's in, for both his sake, and the clans.
The same goes for his brother, with the twist of having had to put up with him for a lot longer. What once was valid criticism, has soured to her ears and now is bordering on insufferable pessimism. Both of the siblings are loud and opinionated, and can be prone to debate. Pebble is no stranger to having her ideas denounced by him, and will in turn attack his positions on the war and Tribe. This is just one of the ways that the two strong redwood warriors express themselves to each other however, and a lot more time is spent sharing tounges and comforting each other against the world that they live in. She does her best to spend time with Clovershade and Tansystrike, but is more focused on the latter and hopes to one day convince him to get closer to his father if she ever gets the chance.
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
› Saltwhisker's ideals - outdated and traditional as they are, clash sharply with the current regime. He has a strong jealousy of the Heron bloodline, wishing that their pure, powerful blood was his own. Not only that, but he believes that mollies should not be leaders, and rather should spend their time and energy raising and taking care of the next generation in the nursery. They should not become warriors, or deputies, or a leader. This makes Minnowstar's election absolutely ridiculous, especially after Molefur's suspicious death. Why was a she-cat, of all the candidates, selected based on blood alone? As a result of this, Saltwhisker is absolutely tireless in his duties, believing that through hard work and prayer alone, he could claw his way to the top. Perhaps he is mistaken in this belief, perhaps he is not.
› He sees Starclan as a force to be reckoned with, a true fountain of power that will illuminate the path and clear the mind. Additionally, his cruel and warlike tendencies are ruthlessly expressed on the battlefield between Lichenclan and Redwoodclan. He sees the cats of the redwood as filthy heathens, and he would gladly push for a more dominant lichenclan presence on the island - even if such a position has to be gained through bloodshed and battle.
› His relation with his family is ... strained to say the least, and this is most apparent in his relationship with his sister, Violetshade. Due to his traditional and sexist views of the role mollies should play in the clan, he hardly interacts with her. She was a meek and submissive apprentice, which, is honestly accurate to how mollies should be. His niece, Wavepaw, constantly bothers him, a true twist on his views.
plot ideas › As is probably expected, Saltwhisker's will be one of the most outspoken voices regarding the conflict between lichenclan and redwoodclan. Like most of the warriors, he will probably be on the sidelines, but that doesn't mean that he won't put his two cents in regarding his warlike views.
› It's very likely that he will have not just one, but two mates in his lifetime. I plan for him to have one mate (in a fling perhaps) that will bear him strong lichenclan kits that he can raise up with his warlike views, but it's unlikely that that mateship will be a loving one, given his sexist views. However, in the future, I plan for him to settle down with a molly that manages to change his staunch, outdated views on gender roles. Maybe he will even repair his relationship with his family - especially his sister and his niece and nephew.
› I'm not sure of the role Saltwhisker will have in the rebellion. While it is more than a little obvious he has . . . issues with the current leader, Minnowstar, and the Heron bloodline as a whole, the warrior code and Starclan dictate will drive him to at least put up with the leader. Saltwhisker is a fierce believer in Starclan, and it's possible the rebellion will reject him anyway due to his more than belligerent attitude toward Redwoodclan. This might change IC, but for now, it's possible I will have him remain neutral.
› Finally, Saltwhisker will be one of the first proponents in leading the younger warriors in a training/fighting regime in order to whip them up into shape for battle. He hates weakness in all forms, after all, and will settle for nothing less than lethal warriors ready to spill heathen blood at their leader's beck and call.
Extra › I am open for plotting, should anyone have any good ideas that line up with the set demands. I absolutely love Saltwhisker!
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
Wavepaw is indignant of the role being forced upon her in Lichenclan based on her sex; she disagrees abhorrently with the sexist double standard that exists in this long-lasting tradition. She had, as a kit or in early apprenticeship, taken a (not-so) silent oath to herself, Starclan, and anyone who will listen to be the best warrior the clan has ever seen -- gender be damned. Wavepaw will never mean to be a role model herself, she simply push to become a warrior as she does not see herself any differently than a male born cat. In her young age, Wavepaw feels superior to she-cats who succumb to their caretaker roles, and will undoubtedly get herself into conflict as a result.
She looks up to Minnowstar for the sole fact that she is a she-cat who leads Lichenclan; if Minnowstar can shred through the expectations of being a she-cat, why can't Wavepaw? This consuming thought will ensnare Wavepaw's ambitions and direct her IC interactions accordingly. Nothing will stop this she-cat as long as she is being told she can't achieve something.
Wavepaw is a staunch believer in Starclan much like all upstanding cats in Lichenclan -- however, she does not believe the ban on she-cat leadership came from Starclan, but from living cats incorrectly interpreting them. As such, she will find herself in hot water for not knowing when to keep her spiritual opinions to herself -- a trait that could vanish with age and experience.
Wavepaw is much too young to see how Lichenclan's internal conflict connects to the clan's reverent following of Starclan and outdated politics. Wavepaw was simply born into this time and does not have the ability to see the full picture, no matter what she is told about the past of Lichenclan. What Wavepaw does know about her clan is there are cats that say she-cats have one role -- and yet Lichenclan had a female leader.
Wavepaw believes Thistleclan and Redwoodclan are full of heathens -- or are to blame for doing something to anger Starclan-- but this thought could be challenged based on IC events. For as long as she believes this, Wavepaw will be bellicose and poncy towards outsiders.
What are your personal plans for the character?
Wavepaw will end up getting into mischief with her brother, Newtpaw -- mostly because she will be trying to stop him from getting himself into trouble -- (she also may want to witness the outcomes of his shenanigans). What the two will get up to will be decided IC / plotting with Newtpaw's adoptee.
Wave does not want her mother to surrender to the life of a perma-queen -- she will do everything in her power (manipulation included) to lead her mother down the path of a warrior. She has seen a curiosity in her mother that she relates to and Wavepaw is determined to exploit that. Perhaps this is because, deep down, Wavepaw believes her drive comes from her bloodline; since she does not remember her father, that leaves only Violetshade left for her to relate to.
Wavepaw looks up to her uncle as a strong, diligent Lichenclan warrior (perhaps until she discovers just exactly how deep-rooted his outdated, bigoted beliefs are). If Wavepaw encounters constant animosity from her uncle, her image of him as her role model may crumble, transforming them into bitter rivals that Wavepaw will break her back countless times to prove Saltwhisker wrong.
Her ambition to be a ferocious warrior will drive her to serve her clan as devoutly as those she idolizes. However, there is an entrenched doubt residing in her gut that will spread through her as the conflict within Lichenclan develops, and Wavepaw grows to understand it (or not... this is for IC events to decide)
Wavepaw rejects all indications that she should be a caretaker in the nursery. As such, she will target any cat that suggests she should with vindictive subterfuge. At this point -- as she is a naive apprentice with something to prove -- this behaviour will not change. How she's shaped IC will decide if this trait sticks or changes
Wavepaw will begin to question exactly what makes Thistleclan and Redwoodclan heathens. Why did Starclan push them away and embrace Lichenclan? The answers Wavepaw finds for these questions will determine her future with the Rebellion: will she be for or against them?
Extra › I'm incredibly open to plot. I love this character and wanted someone already integrated into the clan <3 ty for considering me
Member name: Sloth Character name: Clovershade How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)? Growing up Clovershade hasn’t ever really known much outside of strife and the threat of war. While a part of her yearns for a resemblance of peace she supports her father’s ideals and shares the sentiment of those that believe it is won not expected. That being said, she isn’t one to go out of her way to take charge or give input as to HOW that peace is accomplished. Losing her grandparents, mother, and aunt to battles has made her rather reluctant to join in on border skirmishes or battle training. She’d rather tend to others or provide silent support to those who need it. She’s content to be told what to do and is attentive to details and sensitive to others moods.
Clovershade is of the belief they should readily help the Tribe. After living through so much loss she will readily support any cause that will directly result in preventing others from experiencing the same thing. She isn’t very vocal about this support but all the same is thankful they helped the Tribe when no one else would. She’s very concerned they have lost contact with the Tribe and hopes they will regain it as she feels a friendship with them would be very beneficial for her clan. What are your personal plans for the character? I’d love for Clovershade to find her voice. I’d like to start her out as very timid, overly emotional, introverted, and quiet. She keeps her head down, does her work, and readily follows orders. She relies heavily on repetition and finds comfort in doing things methodically (i.e. taking the same patrols, grooming with specific steps like starting at her front feet and working her way back, and eating the same breakfast everyday). She likes to stay busy so she has less time with her thoughts and has an innate desire to make friends despite not knowing how to properly socialize with others and is concerned getting close to another will result in losing them and feeling pain in the long run. I’d love to have her start by being more open about how she’s feeling with her aunt and as she opens up she starts to feel less like she is constantly living under a cloud.
It snowballs from there and if the clans reconnect with the Tribe I’d love for her to make some interclan/tribe friendships. Being close to a Tribe cat would make her question the severity of the warrior code and would cause some direct conflict with how she was raised and her fathers beliefs. If not that, I’d like to perhaps make her a permaqueen and have her find happiness raising the younger generations, their free spirits and love bringing her peace in her own heart.
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
› The War — A distantly whispered subject in the nursery, while rearing her brood, Violetshade’s ears remained inward rather than outward. War was a necessity, but one that did not concern her, whose duties had never extended beyond the nursery. Still, acknowledging the reality that it is a danger her kits may one day face, she has grown gradually more attentive on the topic itself, herself worrying about the risk it may create towards her offspring now that they have come of age.
She feels as though by strengthening herself she can shield the younger generation from war—considers it her duty, even, as a mother who has overseen the rearing of many LichenClan kits—and has begun the process of shouldering that burden so they might be spared from the reality of such things.
› Animosity and RedwoodClan — In her youth, malignant thoughts towards RedwoodClan were so commonplace they were not to be questioned, and so she never has. Though she does not outwardly address them with repugnance, she regards them with a certain wariness and distrust that keeps her in agreeance with Minnowstar’s rhetoric. When the sickness struck, she thought only of her offspring and obtaining medicine so that they might avoid the plague themselves; when RedwoodClan asked for assistance, she thought nothing of turning them down for cats they had not known for more than a season cycle. Though their losses following leaf-bare pain her, she still would not have trained the sequence of events. She, however, does not agree with LichenClan’s raid on RedwoodClan’s camp, thinking it was a terrible thing to put upon the queens and their litters at the time. War belongs at the border.
› Isolation of the Moonpool — One of the few actions enforced by Minnowstar that she is not in complete agreeance with, Violetshade is a strong believer in the strength of StarClan—similarly she believes all cats with a propensity for such things should have the option to strengthen their love and understanding for their ancestors. To withhold the opportunity for redemption from those deemed cursed, to her, is extremist and an counterproductive act and not one she is in agreeance with. These sentiments extend to all other harsh enforcements of faith. A gentle hand leads best; to lead by force rather than example is a path she refuses to tread, and so has raised her children with similar beliefs.
› The Tribe — When news of the tribe first began to spread, Violetshade felt nothing if not unnerved. More cats meant an increased strain on their island—it meant less resources, less land, and worse the implications of war. And so, when LichenClan met the new presence with animosity, she found herself feeling similar sentiments. With two kits to raise in the midst of a war brought on by the tribes appearance, compassion for those who resided beyond their border was unthought of; she had her own family to think of, and to extend such concerns to a tribe that only brought more questions than answers wasn’t something she could risk. Likewise she blames them considerably for the current conflict and has openly stated that had they been left to die, none of this would ever have happened—their lives could have gone on as they always had.
› Minnowstar + Bristlefur — Violetshade doesn’t agree with Minnowstar’s ascension to leadership, but has withheld such opinions to herself. She views the she-cat’s rise to power as one that was not only abrupt but poorly considered—a sentiment that has been further fueled by the constant and ceaseless feud between RedwoodClan and LichenClan. She has grown weary of war and of seeing her young ones pitted against each other in preparation for yet another and desperately wishes for such fighting to end. Not only that, she believes Minnowstar’s manner of leadership one that functions only through force and not genuine loyalty. She fears for her daughter who shows some high regard to LichenClan’s leader.
Of Bristlefur her thoughts are mixed. She believes him a stolid supporter of StarClan, but his gruff personality and harsh mannerisms as well as his advocation for war has labeled him in her eyes as another danger to her kits. Still, she seems willing to give him a try, if not anxiously, for she fears what his connection to Minnowstar might mean for the Clan as a whole.
› Cinderface + Briarpaw — She bears a sort of respect for both she-cat’s as their combined effort has seen her kits as well as many others safely into the world. Paired with that respect is a certain unease at the power the two must wield as well as the wisdom so easily at their disposal. She maintains a certain soft spot for Briarpaw in her young age and desperately wishes for her success.
While she never had an affinity for fighting, Violetshade is known to make regular visits to the medicine den, often with herbs to bolster their larders and requests for advice.
› The Sickness — It was unfortunate, the plague that gripped the Tribe, but then what could they have done? And similarly, when it found itself into the forest, what good would it have done to share? They would need the lungwort if the plague were to tramp within their borders, and in her eyes, it was for the best such things be kept within their boundary lines than outside of them. She could not bear to lose any more family after Mallowfur, especially not her son or daughter, and while her heart aches for the queens whose own broods may have suffered, her priority will always remain within LichenClan and no further.
What are your personal plans for the character?
› Violetshade’s primary focus will be on personal growth and further integration into her existing family—this means rekindling old flames or fortifying existing relationships with her kits and kin. Throughout this process, I intend for Violetshade to be offered new perspective through not only her family but others she interacts with (whether negative or positive) for her to grapple with and work through mentally.
› Violetshade will feel a similar obligation to change towards herself as well as her offspring and will actively attempt to guide them down the appropriate path. She understands, to some extent, the importance of stability within a Clan that steps precariously on the edge of rebellion. Likewise, she feels a certain heightened responsibility and indebtedness to her daughter, whose desperation to fight against social norms may lead her down a destructive path. In a similar fashion, to her son she feels the same concerns. Both have grown unruly in her passivity; it is something that is like to be a problem in the future, one she must prevent from escalating.
› Although Violetshade may further integrate herself into Clan politics and beliefs and strive to strengthen herself as a warrior, I also think she will find herself—in the process of all this disillusionment—become more strongly inclined to the rebellion and the new way of life it offers to her young’uns. Seeing an opportunity for a life not led by fear will embolden her to support them in any way she can; as someone who is rarely noted to go against the grain, this may allow her some advantage.
› Despite pursuing warrior duties amidst increasing tensions, Violetshade’s affinity for rearing kits will remain and she will be a regular advocate in the nursery. She cares for the young of LichenClan as much as the old, and feels it is her duty to apply herself evenly to both. As such, while she may improve herself and expand her responsibilities beyond rearing kits, there will always be a part of her that longs for the comforts provided by the nursery as well as the satisfaction of seeing young ones into their apprenticeships.
