The Apostles is a warrior cats roleplay based in northern Wisconsin. On Lake Superior, the wild cats have made the Apostle Islands their home. It is on these islands - Rocky Island and South Twin Island - that the clan and tribe cats have lived in a peace and harmony that ebbs and flows with the tide.
But as the tides turn, so does the truce that binds them to one another; and as the water raises, a darkness follows, an evil that will end in bloodshed and violence.
Name: Zuko Experience: None on-site, several off-site Character Name:Blossomstep Position Desired: RedwoodClan MCA
Medicine Cat Apprentice Sample: The day had been quiet so far. Cats mulling around, slipping in and out of camp with various tasks in their mind. Sometimes, she'd just sit and watch. There was a peace to cat-watching, really. Blossomstep knew these cats, yet what they were thinking was oftentimes beyond her. There was no desire to follow, though. She was happy here, leaves bundled at her paws as she sorted them away. Turning towards the chamomile drying out in the corner (you'd need that for winter, right? Never wanted it to die, and worst comes to worst? Dried herbs made for pretty wall dressings) a shuffle caught her, and the she-cat lifted her head to spot two near-identical cats walking towards her, one with his paw lifted high.
"Cressclaw, Elmlight?" Blossomstep spoke, nearing the duo. Cressclaw had been a LichenClan once, but that didn't bother Blossomstep. He was a RedwoodClan warrior, after all. A quick sniff at his lifted paw confirmed Elmlight's words. A bee sting. Bees, at this time of the year? That was far from usual. They'd usually be rarer in leaf-fall and leaf-bare, which made Blossomstep wonder about where the tom had been sticking his paw, though that was a question for later.
"Come - there's a nest just here, you can sit here. I'll get you something." Blossomstep quickly moved aside, letting Elmlight take Cressclaw to sit, before the former headed out herself. Blossomstep lowered her head to sniff at the swelling wound. The sting didn't seem to be there, nor was the swelling large - no allergy. Good. Turning away, the she-cat's eyes quicky roamed over the piles, before spotting, near the back - blackberry leaves. They'd need to restock, before leaf-bare took them all away, but for now, they were fine. Scooping two into her paw, the she-cat pulled them closer, before hesitating. They'd need to be in a poultice, right?
A brief pause later, and Blossomstep was moving again. One strand of that dried-out chamomile she'd been looking at just a moment ago, to the side. A sprig of chervil, just in case. Dock, too. Those would help. The she-cat got to work, chewing up first the dock, and the blackberry leaves, and finally, the chervil. That would help, right? She'd confirm it with Asterstorm when she got back.
Turning back to Cressclaw, she pawed the mixture together, gently applying it to the paw, muttering a quiet apology as the tom winced. The sting was small, and didn't take too long to cover. Once that was done, the she-cat used her non-messy paw to push the chamomile over, with a chirp.
"Chew on this for a bit, it'll help calm you down. I'll wash my paw off quickly, then take another look, okay? You'll be fine though - it's not that bad." Blossomstep gave a small smile afterwards (had she said it too quickly, too forcefully?), and quickly scampered towards the nearest water source. She had a lot of questions.
Why does your character want to become RedwoodClan's medicine cat?: Ever since she could walk, Blossomstep has found herself drawn to the herbs and life in the medicine cat den. She would sit in with Bouncepaw, follow Orchidshade, and found solace in the place during her apprenticeship. Whilst she distanced herself during her warriorhood, especially after Bouncefire left the clan, there has always been a draw to the place that the she-cat couldn't ignore, and even now, with Asterstorm at the helm, she can't help but daydream about the place. Helping her clanmates in the way that she feels most useful? How could she say no?
How does becoming a medicine cat fit into your character's personal story/arc?:: As mentioned above, Blossomstep has always loved the medicine cat den. She always treated it with respect though, as when she was young, there was never an opening. She wanted to be a medicine cat, yes, but to her, Orchidshade and Bouncefire were the medicine cats, and she understood this. She was going to be a warrior, but that didn't mean that she liked to watch the medicine cats work, and wonder about that life. Her apprenticeship went much of the same, although surely, her warrior duties began to pull her away, though she would still check in with Bouncefire, and keep the little tidbits of knowledge she had picked up fresh.
Then, Bouncefire left, and Blossomstep's world turned upside down. Bouncefire had been her best friend, and without him... she felt lost. Afraid, even. She felt scared to go near the medicine cat den, where he had once haunted, to talk to the former mentor that she had annoyed so much as a kit. So, she stayed away, far away, but never forgot. Then, StarClan spoke, and Asterstorm was called forwards. This despair hit Blossomstep deep, for how could StarClan do this - pass over her, and to a cat who was a settled warrior with a mate? The she-cat stayed far away then, not talking to either.
Orchidshade's disappearance lit a new worry and fire in the she-cat, though. On her own, Blossomstep grew concerned for Asterstorm, though never going close enough to check in, out of reserved fear. She held no grudge to Asterstorm, more to StarClan, for how would they want her? Blossomstep would never be expecting to join Asterstorm in the medicine cat den now, due to her age, but if it was to happen - whether Asterstorm personally asked for her, StarClan spoke for her, or some unwritten matter - Blossomstep would find her footing quickly, because she wouldn't feel like a replacement. She'd feel like she now belonged, and would throw everything into this.
As for her arc in future - I'd like to explore her relationship with Asterstorm, and how she wanted to make up for ignoring her, although Asterstorm probably didn't even realise. Being closer in age, it's possible that these two could form a closer friendship, close to each other and able to support each other, depending how things go. I feel like this path would be perfect for Blossomstep, as this would be her strong suit, and she would adore this. Her half-Clan heritage wouldn't stop her, either. She despises her LichenClan father (not knowing he's not there anymore), and still has difficulties with LichenClan itself. Facing them would not be a problem.
Regarding StarClan - Blossomstep would have a little bit of a difficult time trusting them. She didn't understand their past decisions, and they're so... vague. It would take her a while to settle down - if she can even contact them. Her belief that her half-Clan blood makes it more difficult for StarClan to accept her could transcend beyond what she can see. Perhaps her own belief makes contacting them harder, and it would be all her fault, and of course, if StarClan can't contact her... would it make for an entrance to the Dark Forest? She'd be sure that she would be able to recognise the Dark Forest, but... would she really? She doesn't know what they look like, after all.
How does your character view StarClan and the Dark Forest?: Blossomstep believes in both places. She has a bit of resentment towards StarClan, for choosing Asterstorm (and therefore no resentment towards Asterstorm herself), and has a few gripes towards them in general. It mellowed out in recent moons, especially upon the realisation that Blossomstep herself is half-Clan - them choosing Asterstorm made so much more sense now, because Blossomstep wasn't even supposed to exist. Learning to trust StarClan would take time, but not something that Blossomstep would be closed off towards. After all, they're the ancestors that they always listened to, right?
As for the Dark Forest - Blossomstep acknowledges their existence. She's slightly afraid of them - would her mother end up there, for bearing half-Clan kits? Would she, for being half-Clan? Regardless - she knows of them, and respects them in a slightly more feared way.
How does your character view the other RedwoodClan High Position characters? Finchstar: Blossomstep has always held the leader in high regard. She views him highly, having helped them through the war with LichenClan, and is glad that he's managed to settle down - she'd heard of the passing of his first brood, long before she was alive, and to see him at peace is something she's glad. She respects him, and honours his authority.
Tigerpool: Blossomstep hasn't really interacted with Tigerpool much, but she still views him and treats him with respect, as their deputy. He is a senior warrior, established with seasons of experience, and that's something Blossomstep is mindful of. She also respects (and is slighly envious of) his skills, for he was a warrior of high acclaim, something that she knew she would never reach.
Asterstorm: Blossomstep's previous feelings towards Asterstorm were mixed and marred with muddied experiences. The she-cat had always kept Asterstorm at arm's length, never fully being able to get over the jealousy that she has, although has recently realised that this was StarClan's fault. Blossomstep always knew (and watched) Asterstorm struggle with the transition, and pitied her slightly, but never approached her. To be working in close quarters with her... Blossomstep would aim to become her friend quickly, but not for malicious reasons. She knows that she was in the wrong for dismissing Asterstorm so quickly, and having the opportunity to make up and work with her... that would be something Blossomstep would love.
Shadepool and Meadowpaw: Blossomstep would be curteous and respectful to the duo. She had never really interacted with them before, but to her, they are her seniors (Meadowpaw has been an apprentice for a long time, after all), and she would seek to establish and good and trustworthy connection to them, as their relationship as medicine cats would ascend clan tensions (mostly).
Lilacmist: Similarly to the others, Blossomstep would treat Lilacmist with respect, and even admire her for having to step up after Briarfall left, just as Asterstorm had done. Blossomstep herself is slightly more hostile to LichenClan than ThistleClan, but would attempt to push this aside. However, Blossomstep isn't blind, and if Lilacmist was to be more aggressive with her current tactics... standings might change.
With the two missing medicine cats (Orchid & Briar), how does your character feel about becoming an MC?? Orchidshade's disappearance hit Blossomstep hard and painfully, especially having been on the patrol that concluded that she had drowned in the tunnels, with still no idea how she got down there. It wasn't until Briarfall also left that Blossomstep began to feel weird vibes about the situation. There's no one that she suspects, at all, but the coincidences are just too... well, too close in time, right? She'd be keeping a closer eye on Shadepool, but not obviously. If Orchidshade and Briarfall left... would Shadepool be next?
Their disappearances would not stop Blossomstep from becoming a MC, by any means. She'd throw herself into her work and the jobs, keeping herself alert for both herself and Asterstorm's sake - but she's still the newest medicine cat. She'd still be risking a lot, and might be far from safe, no matter how hard she tries.fraid? Do they think it's just a coincidence?

Note: To reduce confusion, I will be referring to Freezingsky with she/her pronouns to reflect his current point in his story.
Name: Silverfire Experience: A few on other sites, but not for long. Character Name:Freezingsky Position Desired: RWC MCA Medicine Cat Apprentice Sample:
Medicine cat apprentice. It was a role Freezingsky truly had never considered her calling, though, it wasn’t as if she had been even given the opportunity before. Orchidshade had Bouncefire as her apprentice for so long, and she had been in the middle of her training when Asterstorm had been chosen as Orchidshade’s second apprentice. Truth be told, she hadn’t truly expected to ever have an opportunity like this.
And she certainly hadn’t thought that she’d ever even entertain the idea of seizing said opportunity.
She had always expected to spend her life working towards being deputy. She’d work her tail off proving to Icesong she could be her successor, and when Icesong inevitably became Icestar, she would be chosen as deputy. Not because she was Icestar’s daughter, but because she truly was the best suited for the job. She would become leader after her mother, leading RedwoodClan to a new age of prosperity by being the perfect leader. Truly worthy of the title of Icesong and Gorseflame’s daughter.
But, of course, that wasn’t how life worked. She had expected that her life wouldn’t be exactly as planned, though she had hoped it was extremely close to her plan, but she hadn’t even entertained the idea that it would change so drastically. She hadn’t expected that Icesong would take a new mate, but she didn’t mind it. Forestflight was a nice molly. However, Icesong stepping down was a blow she had never expected, and to lose her to the tunnels? It had sent her spiraling.
Freezingsky’s plan was scattered, and she had been left to wonder- why? Why had Icesong left? It wasn’t her fault… was it? The thought had wormed its way into her skull despite knowing, logically, it was a ridiculous idea. It ran around her brain like a mouse running from a hawk, causing even the omnipresent feeling of discomfort when she dared to think of herself as Icesong’s daughter or a molly to dissipate, until it was all she could think about.
Somehow, she hadn’t been good enough for her mother. She had no idea how or why, but that had to be why she left. It just had to be. It was only recently that a second thought had entered her mind.
She had no idea where she heard about it, but somehow, she had overheard that Asterstorm was looking for an apprentice. Now, Freezingsky had never even considered becoming a medicine cat, and frankly she had no real desire to treat others, but she had quickly latched onto the thought and had twisted it. If she became medicine cat… then she’d be good enough for Icesong to return… right?
It was an extremely tempting thought. Especially since she knew that cats had to be talking about how she was a disgrace to her family. To the clan even. If she was medicine cat… she could prove that she was good enough.
Which brought her to now. Sitting, staring at the medicine cat den with a longing in her chest. Her ears folded back as she shuffled her paws. She could see Asterstorm moving in the stump of the medicine cat den. It was now or never. She needed to act before some apprentice took the position.
Shoving herself onto her paws, the calico molly took a breath. Then, she padded purposefully towards the den. “Asterstorm?” She called, sticking her head into the den. This was it. Her chance to prove that she was good enough to be called Icesong’s kit.
“I apologize for bothering you, but… well. I overheard cats saying you were looking for an apprentice, and, well…” She took a deep breath. “I’d like to be your apprentice, if you’d have me.”
Why does your character want to become RedwoodClan's medicine cat?:
Freezingsky’s decision to become RedwoodClan’s medicine cat is not entirely altruistic. In fact, she doesn’t really care about treating cats or interpreting prophecies. No, the reason she wants to become the medicine cat is because she’s absolutely desperate for some form of purpose in her life, and she desperately wants her mother to return.
From a young age, she had a plan for her life. And that plan involved showing her mother she should be proud to call Freezingsky her daughter. It involved becoming her mother’s deputy and succeeding her as leader. But this plan was absolutely destroyed when Icesong stepped down and left, forcing Freezingsky to confront the fact that her entire life had revolved around proving herself to her mother.
Couple this with her growing discomfort in her own pelt and a building disdain for being referred to as a “molly” or “she-cat”, as you have a recipe for a cat desperate for some direction. Any direction. So, when she hears about the fact that Asterstorm is looking for an apprentice, she will go and ask her directly for the role.
She believes it will not only give her a purpose and a form of direction, but that it will be enough to convince Icesong she needs to return and retake her position as deputy and will be enough to squish what she quite wrongly believes to be some insignificant worry about her own gender. It’s a position she desperately wants not because of the fact that she wants to heal, but because she wants a distraction from her own worsening mental state.
How does becoming a medicine cat fit into your character's personal story/arc?::
Freezingsky’s plot revolves heavily around self-discovery and stepping out of the predetermined box she’s placed herself in, as well as proving herself to herself. Currently incredibly unhappy and aimless with her life and still forcing herself to be Icesong’s perfect daughter, being medicine cat would give her a route to prove herself to not only herself, but to everyone she thinks might see her as a disgrace to her family and to her mother, although she doesn’t really have to do that.
I would like for her to struggle with her new role at the beginning, quickly questioning if she truly should be the cat for the job. The gender dysphoria that she tried to ignore by taking the job will come back tenfold as she continues to struggle with herb memorization. She’d struggle under the weight of her own standards, and would probably wonder if she would ever be good enough to be called Icesong’s daughter. It will take a couple months for her to hit rock bottom, but eventually she will, and will most likely wonder if she should step down. This very well could stem from her mistreating a patient.
Around this time, her gender dysmorphia would reach its peak, and one day, perhaps while speaking to Asterstorm about everything (maybe even fighting), she’ll exclaim that she’s put this much on her because she’s Icesong’s son. It’s a confession that will take her aback, and will lead to an even further break down as she confesses her hatred for her own pelt.
I’d love for whoever she says this to to recognize the pain and straight up ask her if she wants to be considered a tom. It’s an idea that will cause her to immediately feel right, and from then on, his entire outlook on life will change. He’d still be anxious, but he’d be more comfortable with himself. This new comfort lessens the anxiety he feels, and he’ll become better at his job. He’d be friendlier.
Eventually, I’d like him to sneak out to the tunnels to attempt to convince Icesong to return, only to fail. That will send him back, but he’ll bounce back somewhat quickly. From there, the plan is murky, but he will eventually realize that he’s not just Icesong’s son, he’s Freezingsky, RedwoodClan’s medicine cat.
He’s his own tom. And he doesn’t need to be perfect for his family to love him.
How does your character view StarClan and the Dark Forest?:
Raised with the stories of her father and sister in StarClan, Freezingsky believes quite heavily in StarClan. She values them almost to the point of a LichenClanner, often staring up at the stars wondering which one is Gorseflame, and which one is Frozenpaw. She desperately wishes to meet them, thinking of them as benevolent powers who guide the clans to peace. She also sees them as the definite leaders. If they tell her to do something, she will do it with little question.
On the flip side, she also believes in the Dark Forest. She hopes beyond hope that the cat who killed her father and sister is rotting there, constantly forced to feel the same pain he caused those two. She’d do anything to prevent him from returning. Anything.
How does your character view the other RedwoodClan High Position characters?
Finchstar- Due to being the former deputy’s daughter, Freezingsky holds Finchstar in high respect. She believes he always thinks he’s doing best for the clan. Keyword being thinks. With Icesong’s departure, her goodwill for the leader, while still there, has diminished. She thinks he should have stopped her mother from leading. That he should have kept her as his deputy. She respects him, yes, but is a bit critical of him now. However, she will never show it. After all, she must be the perfect cat, and perfect cats don’t question their leader. I’d love for her to grow to value him more, seeing him as a confidant, perhaps even a sort of friend or even father figure.
Tigerpool- On the other paw… Freezingsky despises the deputy, completely unfairly. She doesn’t think he has much value, seeing him as little more than a brute who was chosen to replace her mother because he’s big and strong. This hatred comes solely because he was chosen as deputy after her mother, and frankly, she’d hate any cat that took the position. For her relationship with him, I’d love for her hatred to grow to a begrudging respect, and eventually an actual respect. I don’t expect them to ever be friends, but I’d love for them to interact to the point of her hatred dying out.
Asterstorm- She knows very little about Asterstorm, barely caring about the medicine cat position until hearing it was open. She always thought Orchidshade chose well, but other than that? She didn’t really care much. However, I can see them becoming very close, with Freezingsky growing to see Asterstorm as a friend and someone she can speak to. Less like a mother figure, more a mentor figure (pun not intented), but extremely close.
Shadepool- Freezingsky holds a sort of wariness about ThistleClan, and this translates towards her being quite cautious around him. She won’t see him as a fellow medicine cat for a while, acting more along the lines as a cat who met an enemy warrior at a gathering. Cordial, but distant. Over her moons as a medicine cat, I would love her to grow more and more comfortable around him, eventually asking him questions about herbs like she would Asterstorm. This assumes Coyotecall doesn’t get to him.
Meadowpaw- Similarly to Shadepool, Freezingsky will be a bit distant towards Meadowpaw at first, though perhaps a tad less so due to her still being a ‘paw (despite Meadowpaw being older than Freezing). Again, cordial, but distant. I can see them becoming close, however. Perhaps not best friends level, but I’d love for them to become friends.
Lilacmist- Freezingsky, after hearing of Briarfall’s disappearance, will feel bad for Lilacmist. She knows how hard Orchidshade’s disappearance hit the clan, and while not knowing much about LichenClan, will assume that Lilacmist has also been hit extremely hard. However, she might seem a bit skeptical of Lilacmist at first, like she would the other medicine cats, but she very well could attempt to befriend Lilacmist.
With the two missing medicine cats (Orchid & Briar), how does your character feel about becoming an MC??
While Freezingsky definitely has some concerns about the disappearance of the two medicine cats, she isn’t truly that worried. She believes it is coincidence. After all, there was a massive flood right when Orchidshade vanished and it’s not unheard of for foxes to take cats. If prodded, she might say that there’s a chance it was TC or, more likely, rogues, but in all honesty, she’s not too worried aside from “I should be careful to be on my guard.”
She’s far too worried about her own issues to worry about a connection between disappearances, though, depending on what Coyotecall does next, that lack of caring might change very quickly.
Name: Captain Experience: RWC deputy - Icesong Character Name:Foxtail carried by wind Position Desired: Teller's Apprentice Teller's Apprentice Sample:
Moon wasn't pleased when she heard Foxtail was making her own den, and in all honesty the den wasn't as pretty or comfortable as their family den. But it was hers. A special place, not for sleeping, but for peace and quiet. Carved out beneath a small tree, her den led underground where the walls were made of packed dirt and propped up by sticks. In the middle of the den sat a small white tom with fur as bright as snow. Foxtail groomed his fur, nipping at knots and cleaning away dirt. And when a particular patch was smoothed, she placed a small flower, weaving its stalk through his fur so it would stay. His pelt was full of colors like the forest floor during leaf-fall. This was his third time here. And like before he complained about Prey-hunter duties and how much he struggled with them.
“You're unhappy.” She said plainly and stepped back to look the tom in the eyes. “I can see it.”
He remained silent. Foxtail let her shoulders slouch and moved to sit at the tom's side and leaned into him, pressing their pelts together. The den smelt strongly of sweet flowers. “You know… you look the happiest when you're telling me about fighting large birds or keeping the other Prey-hunters safe. Just last week when you talked about rebuilding your family's den, your face lit right up! You looked so brave and strong, like a cat who could keep us all safe. I'd trust you any day any time.”
When he didn't seem convinced, she pressed.
“Just give it a try for a few moons. No commitment whatsoever. Take on a few Stone-guard duties and see how it goes. Please? For me?”
Foxtail moved away and with a hop she was back on her paws and roaming around the den. She stopped and turned on her heels to glare at the wall.“And if anyone makes fun of you for it,” Foxtail pushed off of the ground and rose to stand on her back legs. She slashed at the air as if to fend off an attacker. “I'll beat them up for yo-oof”
Losing her balance, Foxtail stumbled to the side. She fell onto her back with a thud and flowers scattered across the den. Petals flew up and fell onto her and the tom. Foxtail looked upside down at him and broke into a laugh. “You -haha-” She raised a paw to point but she ended up pointing at the wall beside him. Flushing slightly Foxtail adjusted so it was pointing directly at her tribemate. “I'll do it with you. Just watch, I'll be the best Stone-guard on the island.”
How does your character feel about becoming the Teller's Apprentice, and how does it fit into their overall plot and story arc?: With Foxtail I want to explore the rise and fall (and rise again) of an easy-going happy character. I want her to face extreme adversity and still be able to smile. The pressures of being a Teller's Apprentice will be what pushes her to the limit. She'll be stressed and overworked. But she'll face it all with a smile and bear the pain. That’s not to say she’ll be rejected by her tribemates. Assuming she is accepted with open arms, she’ll need to learn to balance helping others and taking care of herself. Foxtail is the type to take on more than she can handle and will need to learn how to pace herself.
As part of her struggles, I'd like to write Foxtail as having a strong connection to her ancestors and show that great power can be painful. This is not a hard requirment of mine, but it would be very intresting and fun to write. I’d like her to struggle with constant visions, dreams and omens. Her mind will be a confusing mess that only Fog can help guide her out of. What manifests as kit-hood dreams and nightmares are actually her ancestors reaching out. As she ages, the dreams get worse. Despite being vivid and frequent, the majority of her dreams are about mundane things. She'll have a dream about drowning, which means it'll rain tomorrow. Rarely, if ever, will her dreams be actually important. But even then, who wouldn’t want the smallest glimpse of their fate.
Foxtail will be ecstatic to be chosen as Teller's Apprentice. She's excited to help out her tribe just like Fog does. As Teller's Apprentice, Foxtail will learn to control her dreams. She will learn to be a healer: physically and emotionally. Foxtail’s biggest strength is counseling. For a tribe that is so badly hurt by Sumac and constant disasters, Foxtail will be there to get them to smile again and help heal their hearts.
But by working too hard and dealing with dreams, Foxtail will struggle to keep her happy attitude. She’ll keep a happy face as long as possible even if she’s crying on the inside. She might close herself off and push away help, insisting that she’s fine. She’ll need to learn to rely on Fog and her family for support. She’ll realize that she doesn’t have to always be smiling and that it’s okay to cry sometimes.
With her adversity, Foxtail will grow into a calm, level-headed teller who knows how to guide her tribemates through similar struggles. She will be their rock to lean on in tough times.
How will your character help or hindered uniting the tribe?: Foxtail is a sheltered kit, and was separated from tribe politics. She’ll be entering blind. Her family’s opinions will be a strong influence on her one way or the other. But in the end, Foxtail is a cat who loves everyone no matter what, and will support Fog’s desire for unity. The tribe is stronger together. She is a neutral party, unaffected by the divide Sumac’s reign caused. Foxtail can bridge the gap between the two factions in the most innocent of ways.
Foxtail might trick a prey-hunter into helping a stone-guard. Or she’ll force them to sit together at lunch to work out their differences. She’ll ask a million questions to understand why cats feel divided and are mad at each other.
How does your character feel about establishing connections with the Clans?:
Foxtail is pro-connecting with the clans. Foxtail has never met a clan cat and doesn’t know about the current political struggle. She’s very curious and excited to learn about clan life and their traditions. Foxtail is willing to try out clan culture and would be down to experiment doing things like the clans do. Her pro-clan attitude can dive into what makes the tribe different from a clan and why it works for them. What customs should or shouldn't the tribe adopt from the clans would be fun to explore. Why they should and how to keep tribe traditions alive in a changing world is another interesting concept.
I can see her befriending a clan cat and bringing idea after idea to Fog. “What if we do this? What about that?”
How does your character view the other Tribe High Position characters? Foxtail will be taking on the role of little sister or daughter to the other high positions. They are a lot older than her. She has much to learn from them and will always be asking questions. After everything the three went through, Foxtail is a breath of fresh air. She is a bundle of sunshine who’s ready to make them smile and laugh. She can give them hope for a better, peaceful future.
Fog: Foxtail only met Fog when he returned and took his place as rightful Teller. Foxtail is excited to get to know him. She’ll ask uncomfortable questions like what happened to Sumac or why Fog left the tribe. Foxtail never had a father, and I’d like to see Fog take this role in her life. He can be there for the fun times, deal with discipline and be a shoulder for her to cry on.
Sunrise: Foxtail already has a mom but what if she had two. Or maybe an aunt. I see Sunrise being like a fun aunt for Foxtail. They can get up to shenanigans together and play pranks on the Stone-guards.
Talon: What’s better than one dad? Two dads! Talon can also fill a fatherly role in Foxtail’s life. I see him as a more rigid and rule enforcing parent, but with a secret fun side Foxtail likes to exploit. She will try her hardest to make him laugh.
Basically, it’ll be a sitcom about two dads and two moms raising their adopted daughter.
How do they perceive their role as teller? What is their purpose in becoming leader?: Foxtail's role as teller is a spiritual and emotional guide. She will be the tribe’s emotional core and uplift their spirits. She’ll encourage positive thinking, will be dedicated to holding celebrations and inventing new ways to make cats smile. When her tribe-mates are sad, she’ll be their shoulder to cry on. She will encourage them to pick the path that is right for them, she will not stand for bullying or unnecessary hate. Her goals as Teller are encouraging good mental health and always bettering oneself.
As their spiritual leader, Foxtail can seek out guidance from their ancestors but will do so when only necessary. Her feelings about her ancestors and her position as the tribe’s spiritual guide is something I’d like to explore IC.
Foxtail is a healer, not a fighter. She’s not the smartest when it comes to tactical planning, hunting or other typical tribe duties. She'll need to heavily rely on her peers (Fog, Sunrise and Talon). Foxtail’s leadership will be a collaboration and emphasize the tribe’s communal nature. Her head stone-guard will handle battles. Her prey-hunter will keep the tribe safe and fed. Meanwhile, Foxtail will keep everyone in a positive mindspace and physically healthy.
Potential plots: Foxtail comes up with a plan to unify the tribe. It's simple, stupid but might just work
Foxtail receives an omen related to the ongoing tribe plot. She struggles to understand it. Maybe she has a hard time convincing others to believe her, or they buy into her vision too easily.
Foxtail misinterprets a dream and she leads the tribe down the wrong path.
Foxtail and Fog disagree on an interpretation of an omen, Foxtail has to assert herself and convince him.
The tribe develops an over-reliance on Foxtail's predictions. Cats go to her for advice on the smallest of things, where to hunt or what the weather will be like. They can’t resist knowing a glimpse of their future. Foxtail is pushed to her limit and is exhausted by helping so many others.
Foxtail predicts the death of a tribemate or a tragedy in their life. Sometimes it's better not to know what fate has planned.
Foxtail deals with care-taker fatigue. She wants to help everyone, but needs to find a balance.
Foxtail trusts the wrong cat and vouches for someone ( a rogue perhaps???) who betrays the tribe. The world isn’t as perfect as she thought it was.
As a full Teller, Foxtail must turn to her head stone-guard to lead the tribe in a disaster (rogues invading, more predators, etc). She can't handle this alone and that’s okay.
Rogues and/or clan cats see a weakness in the tribe. With only half the tribe able to fight and a healer for a leader, they will be easy to steal land from.
Name: Silverfire Experience: Nothing for more than a few months Character Name:Emberscorch Position Desired: LichenClan Deputy Deputy Sample:
“Shadedrain, take a patrol of three other cats to patrol the ThistleClan border. Take cats who won’t start a fight- I don’t want ThistleClan to start fighting with us as well,” Emberscorch said, her good eye meeting the silver tom’s eyes. “And be careful. We don’t know if they want to take any of our territory,” she added, watching as the tom dipped his head. She wasn’t entirely surprised to see him go directly to Spotflint, though she had planned for her to lead a hunting patrol.
Ah well. There were more than enough cats for that. “Stormfoot, take Floodpaw, Shimmerscale, and Falconpaw to the RedwoodClan border. Once you’re done with the patrol, give them a hunting assessment. I want to know how Floodpaw and Falconpaw are doing in their training,” she explained, looking at the red tom and waiting until he agreed before looking around. She had no idea how Flashfang and Shimmerscale got along, but she needed to know how the apprentices were doing, and giving them a border patrol was just a bonus.
Her gaze caught the familiar smoke pelt of her former apprentice and the dilute tortoiseshell pelt of her current apprentice. “Ghostface, Hemlockpaw!” She called, raising her tail to get their attention. “You two stay here- I’m going to take you two on a hunting patrol once I’m done giving the rest of the patrols out,” she explained. “Get something to eat while you wait. Hemlockpaw, this will count as a hunting assessment for your name,” she said.
“Flashfang, take Driftfeather, Paleheart, and Deadeye and go the Sky’s Mouth to see how much you can catch there,” she ordered, looking at the group. Just one more patrol…
Her green eye fell on Caveflower. Like usual, anger bubbled up within her as she saw the queen lounging around doing nothing. However, unlike last moon… she could actually do something about this. “Nightclaw- take Caveflower, Sagefrost, Egretflight, and Boulderstrike on a hunting patrol to the shoreline,” she called, not even bothering to watch the queen’s reaction.
Standing up, she turned around and padded into Quickstar’s den. “Quickstar?” She called, waiting until the charcoal rosette tabby tom turned to look at her. “Patrols have been sent out, I’m just letting you know that I’m taking Ghostface and Hemlockpaw out for an assessment,” she explained. Once she got the okay, from her leader, she padded out of the den and headed towards where Ghostface and Hemlockpaw were waiting.
“Alright, let’s go.”
How does becoming deputy fit into your character's personal story/arc, and what is their vision for LichenClan's future?: As a member of the council, Emberscorch’s current personal arc is already tied heavily with the clan itself. Becoming deputy fits perfectly within this arc because of this. After struggling with her views on loyalty for a year, she’s become surer of herself. And she’s more than happy to speak up whenever something is wrong- something that would become more intense with this position.
Emberscorch’s arc is, and will continue to be, to help LichenClan grow. She wants to see the clan prosper until she dies. She is currently struggling with the fact that her joints are starting to ache earlier than most, however she refuses to let this stop her from helping the clan. Depending on whether or not she gets the position, she may or may not retire early. However, this retiring is less “retiring to the elder’s den to tell stories” and more “retiring so she doesn’t feel bad for slowing patrols down”.
As deputy, and as an elder, she would quickly start to learn that she isn’t useless. I plan on having her use her voice no matter the position to advocate for peace. Her vision of LichenClan heavily resembles what LichenClan was at the beginning. Peaceful and spiritual. She hopes to help get rid of the belief that family lineage is important, and hopes to promote unity among the clan.
A major part of her character that I believe could be explored as a deputy more than a council member is her belief that all mollies should learn how to fight. She hates the denkeeper stuff, and truly wants the clan to move towards a sort of “molly power” system. She would check in on any litters that are in the nursery, trying to make sure they are not taught that mollies cannot fight.
Her main plan for the clan is for unity, and she will do her best to keep the clan united, even at the detriment of herself. However, with her belief in StarClan, it’s not entirely impossible for her to be swayed and manipulated by a cat like Lilacmist is the cards are played correctly.
Of course, this belief in StarClan already could cause conflict, with her believing the MoonCave should be open. She would be more than happy to help bring cats down to pray and to keep an eye out for others to make sure everyone can access the MoonCave.
How does your character view the rift between traditionalist and former rebels in LichenClan?: Being one of, if not the only LichenClanner to have gone from being one of Minnowstar’s most trusted loyalists and absolutely reveling in it, to being one of Yarrowstar’s most trusted warriors and regretting her actions as a loyalist, Emberscorch has a unique view of the factions.
Because of this unique view, she actually doesn’t dislike either of them. She understands why the loyalists believed what they did, completely empathizing with them. She does not hold any similar actions against any loyalist, so long as they actually change their ways.
She also does not hold the rebels’ actions against them. Minnowstar had to fall. She holds no grudge against cats like Quickstar for the fact that they attacked other cats, and believes no one should hold a grudge against them.
She sees the rift as unhealthy, but understandable. And she wants to try to mend this rift on the basis that yes, everyone was fighting for LichenClan. It was just the version of LichenClan that they were fighting over.
Now, that doesn’t mean Emberscorch views all the groups in LichenClan as good. Current loyalists, like Falconfire, greatly concern her, and she believes that the upper class is an actual determinate to the clan.
What is your character's relationship and/or view on the other factions?: Battle weary as she is, Emberscorch’s view on the other factions is one of “we should not get involved”. However, she’s quite concerned about ThistleClan and their aggression. Despite this, she does not think it is LichenClan’s place to step into the RedwoodClan and ThistleClan war.
Her views on RedwoodClan are views of guilt and admiration. She truly admires how resilient the clan in, and is more than happy to stay allies with them. While she will refuse to say it, she does believe that RedwoodClan deserves to keep the Bear Stones and she does think ThistleClan is overstepping their boundaries.
Her views on ThistleClan however, as far less pleasant. In her mind, they are far, far too aggressive and greedy. In her opinion, they are battle hungry and clearly untrustworthy, considering they took the land given to them freely while they recovered by force. She will not advocate to go to war with them, however.
The Tribe is a faction that Emberscorch is truly eager to learn about. She finds Fog and Foxtail nice, and definitely is relieved that they do not seem to want to cause issues. They seem peaceful to her.
Similarly, she views the Tunnel cats as peaceful as well. She does not understand them at all, and likely would hesitate to turn to them for advice, but she does not worry about them.
Celandine, however, is the group she is most worried about. She is quite concerned as to whether or not they will try to take territory by force.
What is your character's relationship with StarClan and the MoonCave? Emberscorch’s relationship with StarClan has been one that has changed drastically over the seasons, yet it has never waned. She has always believed they will guide the clan.
To her, StarClan wants what is best for the cats on the island, and she believes that they can force that to happen. She believes StarClan are extremely powerful, yet not all powerful.
The move to the Lagoon, however, is something that Emberscorch isn’t entirely sure about. She does believe that they moved there during Minnowstar’s reign, but she does not think they solely reside there now.
With her belief in her power, and her belief in the medicine cats, she’s hesitant to call either Briarfall (who she does believe in deceased) or Lilacmist liars. Instead, she thinks that StarClan resides in both the Lagoon, and the MoonCave.
This belief, however, puts her in direct conflict of Quickstar and Yarrowstar’s decisions to post guards at the MoonCave. She will not state publicly that she has an issue with this, as she does believe that unity is far more important at the moment, however. Orchidshade, Briarfall, and now Shadepool’s disappearances are concerning, yes, but she doesn’t think any of them are connected to the MoonCave.
She also has a bit of a selfish reasoning to want the MoonCave open, as she herself uses it quite often to go and pray or to just meditate. The MoonCave is a place of worship and peace for her.
What is their relationship with the current high positions and council members in LichenClan?: As a member of the council, Emberscorch is close to all of them, albeit on varying levels. She respects all of them, however, and truly believes that this is a good idea and will help LichenClan grow.
Her relationship with Quickstar, while not entirely close, is one of mutual respect. She highly respects the tom, and admires his strength and willingness to work for what he believes is right. However, she doesn’t believe he is infallible, believing that his belief that the MoonCave should be closed is a flawed one.
With Deadeye, she’s wary. The newest member of the council, she has yet to really learn what his plans are for the council and his views on everything. However, she does know Caveflower and she’s extremely concerned that Deadeye’s views will be similar. She is willing to give him a chance though.
Out of all the members of the council, she trusts Lilacmist’s input the most. She’s not close to her, but she did argue for her to be added to the council, and, if it is related to StarClan, she will argue for Lilacmist’s point unless it fundamentally goes against her beliefs.
Name: Aria Experience: None on site, have been deputy a few times Character Name:Driftfeather Position Desired: LichenClan Deputy Deputy Sample: Driftfeather surveyed the clearing, his gaze resting on the assembled cats with a mixture of pride and determination. As the newly appointed deputy of LichenClan, it was his duty to ensure that the daily routines of the Clan ran smoothly and efficiently.
"Attention, cats of LichenClan," he called out, his voice ringing clear and authoritative. "We have patrols to organize, hunting to be done, and the elders' den to check on. Let's not waste any time."
With a flick of his tail, he motioned for the senior warriors to take charge of the patrols, assigning each group their respective territories to scout and secure. Meanwhile, he made his way towards the hunting party, offering encouragement and guidance to the younger warriors as they set out into the forest.
Throughout the day, Driftfeather moved tirelessly among his Clanmates, ensuring that everyone was accounted for and that their needs were being met. His presence instilled a sense of confidence and reassurance among the cats, knowing that their deputy was there to lead them through whatever challenges lay ahead.
As the sun began to set, Driftfeather gathered the Clan once more, this time to share a meal and exchange stories of the day's adventures. Despite the trials and tribulations they faced, there was a sense of camaraderie and unity among them, fueled by their shared determination to protect and preserve their home.
With a contented sigh, Driftfeather settled down for the night, feeling a sense of fulfillment wash over him. Being deputy was no easy task, but he embraced the responsibility wholeheartedly, knowing that he was making a difference for his Clan and paving the way for a brighter future ahead.
How does becoming deputy fit into your character's personal story/arc, and what is their vision for LichenClan's future?: Driftfeather's ascension to deputy is the pinnacle of his personal journey, marked by years of striving to prove himself in the shadow of his sister. His vision for LichenClan is one of unity, where every cat is valued and differences are celebrated. He aims to lead by example, fostering cooperation and trust among Clanmates. Driftfeather is committed to upholding tradition while adapting to change, inspiring others to work towards a prosperous future. His dedication to LichenClan's well-being drives him to leave a legacy of unity and resilience.
How does your character view the rift between traditionalist and former rebels in LichenClan?: After Driftfeather views the rift between traditionalists and former rebels in LichenClan with a blend of empathy, pragmatism, and determination. Having witnessed firsthand the tensions and divisions that arose during Minnowstar's reign and the subsequent transition period under Yarrowstar's leadership, he understands the complexities of the situation and the deep-seated grievances that exist on both sides.
While Driftfeather respects the traditions and customs that have long defined LichenClan, he also recognizes the need for adaptation and evolution in order to thrive in an ever-changing world. He believes that clinging too rigidly to the past can hinder progress and prevent the Clan from reaching its full potential.
Ultimately, Driftfeather's goal is to unify the Clan, transcending the divisions that have long plagued them and forging a new sense of cohesion and solidarity among all members. He believes that by embracing diversity and inclusivity, LichenClan can become stronger and more resilient than ever before.
While he respects the traditions and culture of LichenClan, Driftfeather is not afraid to challenge the status quo if it means fostering a more inclusive and equitable society for all. He believes that by embracing change and embracing one another, LichenClan can overcome its divisions and emerge stronger and more united than ever before.
What is your character's relationship and/or view on the other factions?: Driftfeather values diplomacy and collaboration with other factions, understanding the advantages of forming alliances and fostering mutual aid. He is open to engaging with Tunnel Cats, Rogues, and neighboring groups, seeking shared objectives and collective prosperity. However, he approaches the idea of allying with RedwoodClan cautiously, wary of being drawn into their conflict with ThistleClan. Driftfeather prioritizes LichenClan's stability and safety above external entanglements, recognizing the potential risks and consequences of becoming embroiled in another faction's disputes.
What is your character's relationship with StarClan and the MoonCave? Driftfeather's relationship with StarClan is one of reverence and respect, rooted in the deep spiritual traditions of LichenClan. He believes in the guidance and wisdom offered by the ancestors, turning to them for guidance in times of uncertainty and seeking solace in their presence.
While Driftfeather holds a steadfast belief in StarClan's existence and importance, he approaches their recent relocation to the lagoon with cautious acceptance. He understands the necessity of ensuring the safety of the MoonCave and acknowledges the wisdom behind Quick's decision to post guards. While he may have reservations about the change, Driftfeather ultimately trusts in StarClan's guidance and supports measures taken to protect their sacred space.
What is their relationship with the current high positions and council members in LichenClan?: Driftfeather maintains a cautious stance towards Deadeye, harboring distrust due to his connection to Caveflower with whom he held a serious grudge. He remains wary of Deadeye's allegiance and influence within the council.
Concerning Briarfall ehile he currently extends a level of respect towards her, he fears the repercussions if the truth of her code-breaking were to come to light. Such a revelation would likely spark fury in Driftfeather, making reconciliation with Briarfall a daunting prospect.
Yarrowstar's once amiable demeanor now holds little sway over Driftfeather, as he perceives Yarrowstar's favoritism towards former rebels as unjust. This bias has soured Driftfeather's opinion, especially as Yarrowstar failed to provide Falconfire, despite his past transgressions, with a proper farewell, further straining their relationship and exacerbating tensions within the Clan.
In contrast, Driftfeather sees potential in Lilacmist, considering her the most trustworthy among the council members. He contemplates the notion of aligning himself with her, even if it means adopting a subordinate role, as he perceives Lilacmist's influence as potentially beneficial.
Name: Thunderfoot Experience: Deputy a few times different site Character Name:Thunderfoot Position Desired: ThistleClan Deputy Deputy Sample: Thunderfoot struggled to stomach the situation. He had been in many fights, from skirmishes with rogues to the assault on Bear Stones. He remembered snapping the shoulder of a RedwoodClanner, the memory surreal because he felt neither pity nor remorse. With Stagstar gone and Firfoot replacing him as leader, Thunderfoot found himself thrust into the role of deputy. What did Firfoot see in him that he couldn't? He wasn’t special; he was a warrior who did his duty as best he could, but everything had changed.
Dealing with Snailtail and Cinderfeather had been tenuous at best. However, Firfoot had entrusted him with the responsibility of keeping the clan running, and there needed to be some heavy changes. Patrols were one of them. "Ryestalk, Pipithawk, Nettleshade, you're on hunting patrol today. Mothfern recently spotted prey near the Bear Stones. I expect you back in no more than four hours." Prey was extremely scarce, but they had new precious territory now, so they were going to make the most of it. They needed every hand on deck.
"Following that, Turtledove, take Foxclaw and Dragonfly with you towards the RedwoodClan border. Do not pick a fight with RedwoodClan, but if they start something, show no mercy."
He knew RedwoodClan was just biding their time, gaining back their strength for another attack. This time, they would be prepared. RedwoodClan wouldn’t hesitate to tear through anyone who stood in their way, but the Bear Stones were ThistleClan’s now and would always be, as long as Thunderfoot was alive.
How does becoming deputy fit into your character's personal story/arc, and what is their vision for ThistleClan's future?: Thunderfoot views his role as deputy as a way to atone for his past wrongs. He feels he wasted and ruined his life, but this position gives him a purpose, something to strive for, and the ability to make changes he never could have before.
Becoming deputy provides Thunderfoot with the validation he craves. It makes him feel important, especially after his argument with Cinderfeather and the conflict with Snailtail during the flood and after. These events shattered a part of him, and he’s been struggling to recover. Being a deputy makes him feel valued not just as a clanmate, but as an individual.
Yet, Thunderfoot has never been involved in politics and doesn’t fully understand the real duties of being a deputy. He’s always participated in patrols but has never been the one to organize them. He tends to act on what he thinks is best, which might lead to pairing an apprentice with low self-esteem with an overly strict mentor or doubling patrol duties to ensure enough prey. He might wield his power too liberally.
Thunderfoot regrets everything he didn't do. He never made amends with his half-siblings and treated them horribly. Now, he doesn't have the chance to make things right with them, nor with Streamwhisker or Snailtail, who looked to him as a father. Blinded by grief and resentment, he failed to see how much he had fallen until it was too late. Being deputy is his chance to make Thistleclan better, to make everything "right" where it’s possible.
He can’t fix his past with his family, but he can ensure the clan is happy and thriving. He finds contentment in seeing them live their lives from a position of power, even if it’s without him.
What is their relationship with and/or opinions on the current high positions in ThistleClan?: Firstar Thunderfoot doesn't know Firstar personally but respects his decisiveness, especially in taking the Bear Stones. He acknowledges their shared experiences of broken families and poor choices. Thunderfoot aims to be a voice of reason to balance Firstar’s ambition and doubts, admiring his drive but wary of the risks it may pose. He is curious about how their relationship will evolve, especially if he learns about Firstar's deal with rogues.
Meadowshine Thunderfoot feels deep paternal pride for Meadowshine, having watched her grow into the esteemed position of medicine cat. Though they haven’t had a heart-to-heart in a while, he respects her role and is always ready to listen, despite their differing beliefs in StarClan. Thunderfoot vividly recalls a time when Thistleclan had no medicine cat and is protective of Meadowshine, valuing her contributions immensely.
Shadepool Thunderfoot held Shadepool in high regard, appreciating his empathy and calm demeanor, which balanced Thistleclan's boldness. Shadepool was a crucial support for Thunderfoot during difficult times, and his death(thunderfoot thinks he is dead) was a devastating blow. Thunderfoot honors Shadepool's legacy, considering him one of the best medicine cats Thistleclan ever had. Determined to uphold Shadepool’s standards and values, Thunderfoot carries his memory as a reminder of the positive impact Shadepool had on the clan and on him personally.
How does your character feel about Firfoot's duel with Stagstar and his new position as leader? Thunderfoot's feelings about Firfoot's duel with Stagstar and his new position as leader are complex and multifaceted.
Initially, Thunderfoot is taken aback by the duel. He views Firfoot's challenge to Stagstar as a bold and unexpected move, and it causes him to reflect on his own position and ambitions. Despite his surprise, Thunderfoot harbors a grudging respect for Firfoot's audacity and determination. He understands the desire to make a significant impact and sees some of his own aspirations mirrored in Firfoot's actions.
However, Thunderfoot also feels a twinge of envy. Firfoot's ascension to leadership represents an achievement Thunderfoot secretly yearns for—a validation of worth and a chance to make a difference. This envy is tempered by Thunderfoot's awareness of his own shortcomings and his understanding that leadership entails responsibilities and challenges he might not be fully prepared for.
Thunderfoot's primary concern is the well-being of Thistleclan. He hopes Firfoot's leadership will bring stability and prosperity to the clan. Despite his misgivings, he is willing to support Firfoot and work alongside him, striving to fulfill his duties as deputy to the best of his ability. Thunderfoot sees this as an opportunity to learn and grow, even if he has doubts about Firfoot's methods and motivations.
Ultimately, Thunderfoot is cautiously optimistic. He hopes Firfoot's leadership will provide the clan with the strength and unity it needs. Thunderfoot is determined to do his part, driven by his desire for redemption and his commitment to Thistleclan's future. He knows that his own path to atonement is intertwined with the clan's success, and he is prepared to face whatever challenges come with Firfoot's new position as leader.
What is your character's relationship and/or view on the other Clans, Tribe, and Tunnel Cats: RedwoodClan Thunderfoot doesn't concern himself with RedwoodClan's desires. He knows they will fight fiercely to keep the Bear Stones, and he's prepared for that challenge. RedwoodClan is a formidable adversary with strong, unified connections, unlike Thistleclan, which often faces internal divisions. While rogues pose a different kind of threat compared to seasoned warriors, Thunderfoot never underestimates them as potential allies or enemies. He understands that RedwoodClan, with their war-hardened experience against LichenClan, cannot be overlooked.
LichenClan Thunderfoot doesn’t prioritize LichenClan, whom he dismissively refers to as "starlickers," but he remains vigilant for any information about them. The last thing Thistleclan needs is to be attacked by two clans simultaneously. Thunderfoot believes that finding a way to either ally with LichenClan or pit them against another clan is crucial. Keeping LichenClan at least neutral towards Thistleclan is essential to maintaining control and safety.
The Tribe Thunderfoot views the Tribe with cautious curiosity. Having been isolated from the clans for so long, their current state and intentions are uncertain. However, he sees a potential opportunity for an alliance, even if temporary. Thunderfoot knows that Foxtail, a key figure in the Tribe, is influential and could be persuaded. Building a rapport with the Tribe might weaken RedwoodClan by undermining one of their supporters. Beyond this strategic interest, Thunderfoot doesn’t see the Tribe as a significant threat or ally.
Tunnel Cats The Tunnel Cats are an enigmatic group, generally viewed neutrally by the clans. Thunderfoot respects their neutral stance but has little information about them. He is curious and considers engaging with them to see if they could be useful allies or if their neutrality might benefit Thistleclan. Thunderfoot is open to learning more about the Tunnel Cats and assessing whether they are worth the effort to pursue as allies.
What is your character's opinion on the territory war with RedwoodClan? Thunderfoot fully supports the decision to hold the Bear Stones, ready to put his life on the line for it. RedwoodClan has always had the high ground, both literally and strategically, forcing other clans to approach them in times of need. Thistleclan has been flooded twice, leaving them stranded without a safe place to call home or hunt. The Bear Stones provide the safe haven they desperately need in case of future danger. Thunderfoot wholeheartedly believes that the Bear Stones must remain in Thistleclan's possession, no matter the cost.
How would your character react if they found out about Firfoot's deal with Poppy? Depending on their relationship, Thunderfoot would be deeply distraught that Firstar dared to make a deal with rogues, especially with Poppy, after what happened with Thievingstar and the numerous attacks by Lily. He would be cross for a while, feeling betrayed and disappointed. However, he would understand that, at that moment, Thistleclan was weak and needed to make tough decisions to match their adversaries. Despite this understanding, Thunderfoot would be firm in his belief that Poppy, being a true rogue, will eventually betray them if RedwoodClan or another faction offers a better deal. Initially, he may begrudgingly refrain from stopping Firstar, acknowledging their current advantage and feeling indebted to Poppy for not taking in Snailpaw and Slushpaw during the flood. However, Thunderfoot would insist that Thistleclan cannot rely on her rogues definitively and must cut ties with them once their mission is accomplished.
Shocking as it may be, Thunderfoot doesn't harbor a strong bias against outsiders (Loners, rogues(MINUS POPPY), etc.), mainly due to the fallout with his family and their parting ways to other clans. In fact, if outsiders can prove their worth and endure the scrutiny of his clanmates, Thunderfoot believes they might be useful. Currently, outsiders aren't a priority, but he remains open to the possibility with time.
Name: Blitzen Experience: None on-site, but have played deputy to leader and a medicine cat on a different site Character Name:Foxglovefire Position Desired: LichenClan Medicine Cat / Apprentice MC/A Sample:
The young she-cat stared at the herbs lined up in front of her paws. She glanced at each one, spotting the differences between them. She knew one of them for certain was dock– Blossomstep had told her about it yesterday. However… the names of the other three weren’t coming to her immediately. Neither of the RedwoodClan medicine cats was here to help her today, and it caused occasional worry to spike through her and ruffle her fur. Her brows furrowed as she tried to remember the names of the herbs.
“Foxglovefire!” Her fur bristled as she started. Foxglovefire stood and rushed to the den entrance. A stocky tom was waiting for her, standing next to a gangly newly-made apprentice that made him look enormous. She wanted to shrink beneath his gaze but forced herself not to, focusing on the apprentice instead. She was holding one paw off the ground.
“I stepped on a seashell shard,” the apprentice explained, overturning her paw. “Can you get it out?” Foxglovefire leaned closer. The shard was small and stuck into her largest pad.
“Yes,” she replied, feeling slightly more hopeful. This is just like a thorn, she thought, easy enough.“Hold still.” Carefully, the she-cat leaned down and took the shard between her teeth. Sudden awkwardness shot through her, imagining the two other’s gazes on her, and she pulled the shard out quickly and let it fall to the floor. She swept it to the side with her paw, and when she looked back at the apprentice’s pad, a thick drop of blood was welling up from it. It occurred to her then that she maybe should have brought an herb with her before pulling the shard out. “Uh– one second,” Foxglovefire glanced sheepishly up at the other she-cat– her face was wincing with pain– before retreating back to the herb store.
Quickly, she looked at the herbs she had lying on the ground and throughout the store. What’s good for cuts? While she thought frantically about it, she wrapped some cobwebs around her paw. Cuts, cuts… Foxglovefire thought she might want to disappear then– what if she couldn’t remember it? She could practically feel Caveflower breathing down her neck as she tried to recall the herbs. Her heart beat faster. She looked at the herbs lying on the ground again, and her ears perked up. Dock! She snatched it up and bounded back to the waiting apprentice.
“Here,” she chewed the dock, wrinkling her muzzle at its bitter taste, and felt awkward again as she applied it to her paw and then gently rubbed it onto the apprentice’s. She tried to focus only on the paw as she pressed cobweb onto it, then stepped back. “Okay, you’re all good. Oh– and you should go easy on it today. Stay in camp, but tomorrow you can go out again.” That was the right thing to say, right?
The mentor and apprentice pair bid her farewell, and as their pelts disappeared back into camp, a strange, empty, lonely feeling tightened her chest. Foxglovefire swallowed uneasily and the bitter dock brought her back to reality. She shook her head, sighed, and went back down into the den to wash the herbs and cobwebs off her paws.
How does becoming medicine cat fit into your character's personal story/arc?:
Foxglovefire has never wanted or pictured herself being a medicine cat. She wants to be a warrior through and through. However, I can picture her becoming mc because of a sign of sorts and her being forced into the position. Becoming mc will be very scary for her.
I’ve always imagined what it would be like for Foxglovefire to go down more of a corrupted/evil path. She’s already disillusioned with her family and is especially bitter towards Caveflower. She’s felt trapped and not free to do what she wants her whole life, and being mc would enhance those feelings of entrapment. Eventually, I would like for her to break free of the imagined confines she keeps herself in and make a final stand against Caveflower/her family. The road to that point could be one of becoming so angry and bitter that she violently frees herself. A way down the road, if she does go down a corrupted path, I want her to eventually realize her faults and become a good cat again.
I can see this corrupted path being perfect with Coyotecall. Foxglovefire is young, emotional, and afraid– easy to take advantage of and manipulate– she’d make quite a good pawn. At first, she won’t be entirely trusting of Coyotecall. He would earn her trust, perhaps by appealing to her fears and insecurities or turning her further against her family. Caveflower I’m sure would also take on a more active role in her life once she becomes mc, much to her dismay. She will eventually be willing to carry out tasks for Coyotecall but, further down the road, will realize that he’s evil– maybe with the help of one of the other medicine cats or a good friend. Towards the end of their relationship can be when Foxglovefire finally has the courage to stand up to Caveflower, for better or worse, and then return to life as a warrior. Her return will be interesting and offer obstacles for her as she learns how to be a true warrior.
As a note, Foxglovefire will not be a great mc. She will try, but I can see pressure getting to her and causing her to mess up sometimes. She may be slow to learn herbs and not as feeling or sympathetic towards her patients as she should be.
What is your character's relationship with StarClan and the MoonCave?
Foxglovefire has always believed in StarClan but has never encountered them personally. She doesn’t know much about them aside from what she was taught, but doesn’t have a problem with them being present at the lagoon given that the MoonCave and tunnels give her the heebie jeebies. She didn’t have a positive baptism experience and hasn’t had positive experiences with the tunnels either. So, she doesn’t mind Quickstar posting guards nor would she mind the MoonCave being closed off entirely. She believes that all the Clans should be able to convene with StarClan when they want to, so wants them to have access to the MoonCave as well if it’s safe.
How does your character view the rift between traditionalist and former rebels in LichenClan?:
Foxglovefire was raised in a traditionalist family but doesn’t hold their values despite her going along with what her family wants. She’s very much rebellious at heart, but won’t interfere if someone wants to practice traditionalism so long as it isn’t hurting anyone or no one is forced into it like she was. The former rebels interest her– she wants to be like them– and she wishes her Clan wasn’t so divided, but doesn’t necessarily want to be the one to unify it even though she wishes it was more unified. She doesn’t like sticking to one side and wants to mingle with others who are different more, but often refrains from doing so out of fear of displeasing Caveflower.
What are their opinions regarding the mysterious disappearances in the tunnels (Briarfall, Yarrowstar, and now Lilacmist's death) and Quickstar's sudden rise to leadership?
The tunnel disappearances are deeply unsettling for Foxglovefire and have given her a fear of the tunnels and MoonCave. She thinks that something is haunting LichenClan and that the disappearances can’t be coincidences (as I said, Coyotecall will have to earn her trust). Regarding Quickstar, she does trust him and supports the changes he’s made to the Clan. She has no reason to not like him and has a vague hope that he’ll save her from the clutches of traditionalism somehow.
What is their relationship with the current high positions and council members in LichenClan?:
Foxglovefire has mostly kept to herself and her family so far in her life. She’s not super familiar with Quickstar, Emberscorch, or Ghostface, but she doesn’t dislike them and would try to get them to know them better if she becomes mc. She has less favorable thoughts on Deadeye as he’s close to Caveflower and supports her views- she tends to avoid him. She’s also not familiar with Briarfall and only has very vague memories of her, as she went missing when Foxglovefire was a young apprentice. Foxglovefire enjoyed Yarrowstar when he was their leader and is sad that he’s gone. Minnowstar is probably what she imagines when she envisions ‘evil.’ She blames the old leader for her circumstances (that being, her being trapped in her traditionalist family).
What is their relationship and/or future opinions on the other medicine cats?
As Foxglovefire doesn’t know much about the other medicine cats besides the disappearances, I can see her wanting to get to know them better. She does have sympathy for them. There will be pressure on her to catch up on their circumstances and learn quickly, I'm sure. I can picture her feeling a bit ostracized from the others since she’s so young and inexperienced with herbs and StarClan, while also wanting to learn as much as possible from them so that she can catch up. Eventually, if she can have positive relationships with the other she-cats, she could come to admire them and support them.
Once Briarfall returns, do you plan on continuing in the role as medicine cat in LichenClan?
When Briarfall returns, Foxglovefire will return to life as a warrior. As I mentioned, being medicine cat is not her destiny. She is truly meant to be a warrior. Whether her return is messy or not, depending on her actions as mc, remains to be seen.

Name: Wish Experience: Minnowstar 😐 Character Name:Blazingstorm Position Desired: ThistleClan Deputy
Deputy Sample:
"And if you happen to find any code-thumpers out there—" Blazingstorm smirked from the shadows of the fallen-pine. "Send my best regards to Finchstar," he finished, giving the patrol permission to attack any RedwoodClan warriors straying too close to stones. With a final jerk of his chin, Blazingstorm sent them off before succumbing to a full-body stretch. He relished in the release, ready to grab a piece of fresh-kill and finally eat—when the telltale sounds of an argument caught his attention.
What's this?
It was coming from the apprentice's den, and by the intensity of their growls, a duel was imminent. A toothy grin widened over his maws, the snarling and hissing music to his ears. What is it this time? He wondered. A she-cat? A nest? Blazingstorm vacated the fallen pine, and crept toward the apprentice den. Ever since Firstar defeated Stagstar, duels were happening more frequently, and Blazingstorm reveled in it.
Nature was healing itself.
Outside the den, he eavesdropped, the snarls deafening into blows, angry hisses dissolving into the occasional grunt or whimper. Yet even as the signs of defeat grew near, he did not intervene. Never would he get involved. Not unless a stronger cat was mercilessly beating a weaker cat to death—and even then, Blazingstorm might give pause. A duel was a sanctum between the challenger and the challenged.
One, two, three.
The fight was over.
A flash of fur shot from the den and tried to dart past. "Not so fast—" Blazingstorm slammed his paw over the apprentice's tail before he could run away. An angry hiss exploded from the young tom as he whirled on Blazingstorm, anger coursing through his eyes—and tears.
"Easy," he warned, studying the apprentice. He was small, even for his age. Probably a runt. Did he challenge an older apprentice to try and prove himself? Or is he being picked on?"I only want to talk." Eyes downcast, the apprentice mumbled under his breath as Blazingstorm released his tail. "You lost, so what?" The apprentice flinched.
"Easy for you to say," the apprentice muttered. "I bet you've never lost a duel before."
Unable to stop, a barking laugh escaped him. "You think Firstar named me deputy because I've never lost a duel before? You think we're like those shore-beaters by the lake? Electing our leader because we carry some fancy blood in our veins?" He cut the apprentice a glance. "In ThistleClan, we fight for everything we've got—and sometimes, we lose."
The apprentice sniffled.
"Losing builds character," Blazingstorm growled. "We often learn our best lessons in life by not getting what we want." He tilted his head toward the apprentice's den. "I don't know what that was about—but sulking around camp all teary-eyed and snifflin' ain't going to fix it." The apprentice finally glanced up at him. "Figure out where you went wrong, whether it's because you weren't fast enough, strong enough, smart enough, and start training to change it. Then when you're ready—"
A tooth poked from his maws. "Challenge 'em again when they least expect it." The apprentice blinked at him, probably too stupefied to answer. Blazingstorm curled his upper lip. "Now scram," he barked. "I got shit to do, and I'm tired of lookin' at you." Without so much as a glance, Blazingstorm left the apprentice's den in search of food.
How does becoming deputy fit into your character's personal story/arc, and what is their vision for ThistleClan's future?
StarClan dealt Blazingstorm a rough paw from birth. Born a runt wearing a she-cat's pelt, Blazingstorm quickly learned that growing up in a Clan of barbed tongues is not for the weak-willed and thin-skinned. While some might crumble under the "tough-shit" ThisteClan mentality, Blazingstorm thrived. From apprenticeship to warriorhood, he's proved his loyalty and unyielding devotion to ThistleClan time and time again, despite his at times questionable decisions (sleeping around and cheating on his first mate) and methods (throwing apprentices out of trees…throwing his daughter's boytoy off a cliff).
Through tireless training, he's earned a reputation as one of ThistleClan's strongest and fiercest warriors. He fought alongside Graygaze in the final battle and avenged his friend's death and trained two apprentices into respectable warriors. He's active in Clan politics, and always willing to voice his opinion, no matter how unpopular.
Being chosen as deputy feels like a logical progression for Blazingstorm at this point in his story. He's now a senior warrior of considerable rank with cross-Clan recognition due to his prowess in battle. Choosing Blazingstorm would send a strong message to the other Clans that ThistleClan is not fucking around. No longer are they the piss-babies getting washed away by the flood or the pine-sap suckers hiding in their underground tunnels. Blazingstorm's gonna run his warriors through the frickin' gulag and help Firstar reinstate the duel culture of ThistleClan's past. Get ready for concussies and shin-splints.
Regarding inter-Clan/Tribe politics, Blazingstorm is interested in continuing their conquest for Bear Stones and establishing it as reliable hunting grounds for ThistleClan. His interests include securing the Estuary for ThistleClan (since the Tribe isn't exactly claiming it as their own). To prevent future floods, he wants to either a) reinforce the Vale by redirecting runoff pathways or b) move their camp permanently to higher ground. When it comes to wars or calls for peace, Blazingstorm does not care if ThistleClan appears "villainous" to other Clans/Tribe if an opportunity presents itself. While he does not want to lose able-bodied warriors to causeless wars, he is pro-sending his warriors into battle to strengthen their borders. He is reluctant to make alliances, largely believing ThistleClan is self-sufficient on their own. This especially applies to rogues (more on that later).
What is their relationship with and/or opinions on the current high positions in ThistleClan?:
Blazingstorm ultimately respects Firstar, despite any of their differences. They share a common language (grunts and curses) and goals for ThistleClan (securing reliable territory and strengthening their image). While he does not regard Firstar as particularly impressive in battle (he could use to lose a few pounds), Blazingstorm admires him for challenging Stagstar to a duel and winning. That cinched any of his lingering doubts. Want to earn Blazingstorm's respect? Beat his ass. His only qualm is this rogue business. He's not a fan of that (again more on that later).
Harboring an extremely wishy-washy relationship to StarClan, Blazingstorm understands at a very, very base level that medicine cats = good because they heal him and his den-mates. Anything else is a lot of hogwash and poppycock (words Blazingstorm would never say because he's not British). A sentimental part of him wants to believe in StarClan because of his deceased loved ones, but it's hard to wrap his very concussed head around it. So if Meadowshine or Shadepool were to proposition him with a prophecy or omen, he might call bullshit depending on how "insane" it sounds to him. If either of them were to unsheathe their claws and bitch-slap him, he might change his tune and listen.
How does your character feel about Firfoot's duel with Stagstar and his new position as leader?
Stagstar—in Blazingstorm's eyes—has never compared to Thievingstar, and made a piss-poor "replacement" for his former mentor. While he didn't outright dislike the tom and trained with him whenever Stagstar was hankerin' for spankin', he did not regard him very highly. So when Firfoot returned to camp and announced Stagstar's defeat, Blazingstorm got excited. A little giddy in his "Blazingstorm way," hungering for a fight of his own. It reminded him of ThistleClan's "glory days." The stories of Graystar and past duels. So he does support the change. If Stagstar can't defend his rank, then he doesn't deserve to be leader. It's as simple as that. He respects Firstar acquiring leadership using that method. However, the jury is still out on whether he'll fill Thievingstar's…cat shoes.
What is your character's relationship and/or view on the other Clans, Tribe, and Tunnel Cats:
RedwoodClan: While benefiting from their alliance during the Great War, Blazingstorm maintains that ThistleClan would not have had to get involved if RedwoodClan had just fought their own damn battles and defeated LichenClan once and for all. He hated living on RedwoodClan soil. However, he does enjoy the extra and reliably-sourced prey the Bear Stone supplies them with. Give credit, where credit is due. He would like to continue using it—if RedwoodClan oh so obliges.
LichenClan: Do not get him started on those shore-beaters. Blazingstorm believes LichenClan is a bunch of religious fanatics and too unstable to take seriously. They're on their second leader and on medicine cat #3 within a season of defeating Minnowstar. A rogue-sympathizing LichenClanner murdered Graygaze. He's seen nothing good over there and is uninterested in ever sympathizing with them. Send another cat to the border, he'll cliff-toss their ass.
Tribe: Blazingstorm wants to take advantage of the Tribe's naivety and kindness. He is not openly hostile towards them, but they promote peace and don't fight? Hello? That's an open opportunity waiting for them to pounce on. Especially the estuary! It could provide their Clan with a substantial fishing source during the colder months since the lake cannot freeze.
Tunnel cats: Against his better wishes, Fernfeather went to join the tunnel cats, and then returned; thus proving Blazingstorm right. There's nothing good going down there either. If their strange connection to StarClan already didn't put him on edge, the sudden mysterious disappearances only makes it worse. Blazingstorm does not want to send any of their apprentices down there, and he openly disagrees with their philosophies regarding forced peace.
What is your character's opinion on the territory war with RedwoodClan?
After living through both floods, Blazingstorm understands the pitfalls of ThistleClan's territory. He's not naive enough to think it won't happen again. They need a long-term solution in place before the next flood. Is it taking land from RedwoodClan? Probably not. Blazingstorm wants to reinforce the Vale, or ultimately move camps, so that it does not become a repeat issue. That said—extra territory from RedwoodClan never hurts. He enjoys the additional hunting grounds and ThistleClan is benefiting. He just does not want to permanently move into their forests and set up a new camp at the stones. The pines are their home. He supports the conflict as long as it does not ultimately hurt ThistleClan and their warriors in the long run.
How would your character react if they found out about Firfoot's deal with Poppy?
Well—after assessing Dragonfly to gain entry into ThistleClan, Blazingstorm learned of Firfoot's arrangement with Poppy. He does not know the finer details—but he does not like it. Rogues murdered his mentor, aided in killing Graygaze and many of his den-mates, and continue to—in Blazingstorm's eyes—plague their Clan. He cannot fathom why Firfoot would want to side with them. ThistleClan does not need aid from anyone. They are strong enough on their own, and if this proves false, then Blazingstorm believes that is something that can be fixed through training.
Regarding this knowledge, Blazingstorm has not confronted Firfoot because he's waiting for the opportune moment. If he's chosen as deputy, it would be top of the list for him during their initial meeting. He does not want to use the information against Firfoot and pretend not to know. Blazingstorm wants to understand, dissuade any further "deals'' from coming to fruition, and rid the rogues from ThistleClan's territory. This would be a point of conflict for them as leader and deputy, which could potentially lead to interesting interactions depending on how Firfoot responds and his own plot progression.
While adamantly against the arrangement, Blazingstorm could be convinced to continue the partnership if Firfoot proves to possess ulterior motives, such as double-crossing them, or finding a way to get Blazingstorm "on board." He's not a complete lost cause. He just really hates rogues (ps. This is Wish saying she's flexible and does not want to rp Blazing as just refusing to interact with the rogue plot or stopping it. She is down to clown and have some fun)!
Name: Lightning Experience: Various on other sites. LC medicine cat apprentice on TA Character Name:Mist that Travelled Beneath Redwoods Position Desired: Head Stone-guard
Stoneguard Sample:
The morning had come with a wave of rain, a rare time of relief when the heat of the sun was so intense most days. Mist stood at the edge of the tribestone, glancing from one gathered stoneguard to the next as he considered the tasks for the day. With the rain, there was a great deal of relief to be had, but there was also much to do.
"Boar, can you and Sky head to the estuary? If the rain is heavy enough to flood, it will flood there first. Report back if you notice the water level rising, otherwise, we could make use of the cool weather to work on the bramble barriers there." The other clans were the source of constant worry for Mist. The estuary suddenly made the land between the tribe and everyone else accessible and easy to access. For better or for worse, it was now a vital piece of land to maintain and keep an eye on, as it was the tribe's only true border. He could only hope it would never see the bloodshed that the clan borders saw each season. But it's best to be prepared.
"Smoke, Rain, and Falcon. I'd like for you three to work on making sure that the dens on the tribestone are stable and sturdy despite the weather. If there are any that are in danger of collapsing, please see to it that they are reinforced." It was not light work, despite largely occurring near the tribestone. There were other days for keeping an eye on the furthest islands - when the weather was unusual, Mist always preferred to make sure that every cat was well taken care of at home before checking on the lands beyond.
Mist turned his attention to the rest of the stoneguards. "Tooth and Claw, please see which patrol Sunrise has assigned you to. Predators may not be as active in this weather, but the preyhunters can still use you to bolster their numbers and keep their patrols protected." He noticed Talon, sitting to the side and smiling with a look not dissimilar to pride. Mist took a breath and tried to smile back, but the strangeness of giving orders had yet to wash away. Making eye contact brought a wave of nerves. Mist tried to settle them with a deep breath.
"Star, you'll, um, be helping me check on dens." The first that came to mind was Song's, for he did not even want to imagine what might happen should his pregnant mate have the den collapse on her head. But the has-beens are more important to check on. So that was where he and the to-be would start. "A-And Talon, can you take a couple of the other to-bes to practice sparring? It's been a while since they've gotten to practice." Of all the seasons to spend resources on defense and training, the warm summers were where the least number of paws needed to focus on hunting. If they were going to get the training they needed, then they must practice as much as they could while the weather was still hot and prey was rich.
Mist raised his tail high, signaling the end of his assignments. The stoneguards shifted, preparing to head off to their designated assignments for the first half of the day. Mist was quick to collect Star, greeting her with a warm purr. “You ready? Hopefully, all will be well, but it’s best to double-check all of the dens when the weather shifts.” And he began moving forth, headed towards the den Maple made with Talon to check its structure first.
How does becoming lead stone-guard fit into your character's personal story/arc, and what is their vision for the Tribe's future?:
Mist's life has revolved around the tribe long before he joined it. A few moons after creation, he met Song and the tribe when they visited RedwoodClan. Since then, his arc has been filled with longing for a place to live where war did not constantly threaten the horizon, where he felt he could belong and make a difference, and where the ancestors would accept a rogue-born feline among their ranks. He aided Fog in returning to the tribe after receiving a vision from the Tribe of Endless Life foretelling his role in helping the Teller go home, and has since thrown his all into giving the tribe his full effort. Despite having only been a full member of the tribe for a short time, he has dedicated his life to their betterment.
While initially he will struggle to accept his new role, he will step up to the position with intense dedication. He will find a purpose in protecting his new tribemates as well as the family he has started with his mate, Song. While he will still struggle with his nervous tendencies at times, he will slowly but surely rise to one day meet the expectations for the role with the support of his father-in-law and previous head stoneguard, Talon.
Mist's priority is ensuring his tribemate's safety above all else. Predators and natural disasters are more immediate threats than enemy cats, so Mist will attend to these threats with more dedication than the prospect of war. He hopes to not face any cat in battle, but as the connection between the clans and the tribe continues to strengthen, he fears that they will be drawn into conflict and will aim to postpone it as much as he can.
His connection with the land is not as strong as many other stone guards who have spent their whole lives tending it, so he will look to his tribemates to ensure the tribelands are as healthy as the members. The work suits his nature and he will pick it up quickly, becoming the expert his role implies. He does know a great deal about fighting, death, and war. He is afraid of battle, but if necessary, he is uniquely capable of leading his tribe in combat against enemy cats given how often he watched Finchstar and Icesong do the same thing. His warrior training will be put to use in ensuring his fellow stoneguards are skilled fighters, and that preyhunters are capable of defending themselves. With a unique knowledge of the tactics of clan cats and rogues alike, he will help his tribe succeed in whatever dangers they might face by ensuring they are prepared for anything should the threat of war begin to shadow the tribe's doorstep.
I would be eager for a plot that does result in combat or hostility, whether with the clan cats or otherwise, even if Mist is trying to avoid it. At first, he might feel disillusioned with any combat the tribe might face, wondering if he had run away from one war only to end up in another. I want him to have to face his cowardly nature and find the courage and strength to defend his family and his tribe.
What is their relationship with and/or opinions on the current high positions in the Tribe?:
Mist sees Foxtail as a very brave and noble child. While Foxtail's role requires a certain level of importance and respect, Mist sees her as a young cat who needs guidance in deciphering her visions rather than a teller to heed without question. He is eager to help her grow as an individual, but won't always be quick to accept more naive decisions. He might question her and try to help her grasp more nuanced issues she lacks perspective on, especially when it comes to relations with other clans. Ultimately, he will follow her, but it will not be blindly.
Sunrise is one of the cats Mist respects the most of all the tribe. He sees how deeply entwined with the land and the prey that inhabit the island and finds it incredibly inspirational. Despite his respect for her, Mist feels as though she has not been appropriately held responsible for her actions. While he is no stranger to cats killing in combat, he believes that killing Sumac was a criminal offense and that attacks against clanmates or tribemates, no matter how wrong the other cat is, are totally and completely unacceptable. He fears that her actions will cause the tribe to look upon those who kill with less revulsion and that his new family will end up in a similar situation as his former clan - locked in wars and killing to defend themselves.
Mist is close with Talon as his son-in-law. He views the tom with a great deal of respect, and he believes Talon has grown to place some amount of faith in him too after eagerly accepting Mist taking Song as his mate. He will reach out to the former head-stoneguard for advice frequently and will not hesitate to voice his respect for all Talon has accomplished.
Mist also has a relatively strong trusting relationship with Fog. After aiding the former teller in returning to the tribe's island and informing him of his dreams of the endless, the pair have a mutual solidarity in their want for the tribe's success. Mist respects Fog deeply, and believes his vow to aid Fog a season ago has carried over to aiding him in supporting Foxtail in her new role.
How does your character feel about Foxtail's frequent (but not always accurate) predictions?
Mist does believe that Foxtail's predictions are more accurate than not, and the times in which she is incorrect are more a matter of not understanding the true meaning and interpreting them incorrectly. He has witnessed the accuracy of some of her predictions and acknowledges that her connection with the Tribe of Endless Life is unusually powerful. He also believes that, if her predictions can aid a clanmate in staying safe or protecting their loved ones, it is Foxtail's responsibility to inform them.
Simultaneously, he acknowledges that, at times, they might be interpreted incorrectly. When they are predictions that affect the tribe as a whole, he will want to engage in a discussion about their potential meaning as he knows Foxtail is still young and lacks context about the greater world to make certain decisions without help.
How does your character feel about the Tribe's growing relationship with the Clans? Do they want to continue the relationship?
Mist fears the relationship with clans growing stronger and wishes that the tribe could remain separate. He yearns for a tribe that does not see combat but knows that, the closer they grow to the clans, the more likely it is that they will face it. Simultaneously, he recognizes that, if they are to survive more times of hardship, it is vital for them to maintain some sort of connection. He hopes that his relationship with RedwoodClan will help the pair to continue their allyship into the future, but fears that RedwoodClan might eventually call upon the tribe to aid them in battle instead of more mundane support like possible herb exchanges and learning from each other's cultures.
Despite his reservations, he does want to continue the tribe's relationships and maintain their position within gatherings, if only to seek allies for if/when the tribe faces another disaster. The benefits outweigh the drawbacks, though he will act with caution whenever possible.
How does your character view the working relationship between prey-hunters and stone-guards?
Mist sees tremendous value in both groups and strives to maintain each group's sense of importance and freedom to act according to their strong suits. He remembers watching skilled hunters get looked down upon for their lack of battle prowess (Parsnip-petal for example), and talented fighters be punished for not hunting as much as expected of a warrior (Lionpaw). While he knows the value of being able to hunt and defend yourself, he recognizes that the tribe's division of labor allows for each group to be even more successful in their duties. He hopes to show his tribemates this as well, acknowledging both groups equally despite being the head of only one. He will seek to continue the working relationship between both groups and dismantle the problematic views that Sumac instilled during his time as teller.
Name: Maple Experience: None on TA, but I was a medicine cat and staff member on EOD back in the day Character Name:Sandpaw Position Desired: LichenClan Medicine Cat Apprentice Medicine Cat Sample:
Plink, plink, plink
Water slowly dripped from the ceiling and into a small pool next to where a small sandy-colored she-cat sat sorting through piles of leaves and roots. She was not yet 12 moons old and found herself far from her family and friends. Not yet 12 moons and dabbling in tinctures and poultices in a place she could have never even hoped to dream of.
‘Burdock roots chewed up for rat bites. Bramble leaves are good for bee stings to bring down the swelling. These leaves here are good for expecting mothers... but what were they called again?’
Sandpaw looked up from the little piles of herbs that she’d been sorting to see that Briarfall was no longer beside her. She turned her attention back to the herbs, only mildly disconcerted, and decided to ask later when she saw her new found mentor next.
‘Celadine for soothing eyes. Coltsfoot for easing breathing during bouts of whitecough. Comfrey was for so many things I can’t remember them all right now, chamomile is good for strengthening—’
A whisper of air with a sweet and inviting scent interrupted her thoughts, brushing delicately over her fur, and she raised her head. ‘Was that-?’
“Cardinalkit?” Her voice broke the silence of the tunnel. “Is that you, sister?”
She paused in her studying and rose gingerly to her feet - muscles aching from the dampness in the tunnels and her prolonged crouched position.
Out of the corner of her eye, a flicker of red flashed in and out of existence. “C… Cardinalkit?”She whispered. “Please send me a sign if you’re there… Am I doing the right thing? Is this really what is right for LichenClan?”
But there came no answer, and so the little LichenClan apprentice walked further into the tunnels, letting the darkness wash over her. What little light the cavern had provided was gone now as she relied on her whiskers and sense of direction to guide her.
Was leaving her clan so suddenly and without a word to train as a medicine cat the right thing to do? What was Foxglovefire going to do when she returned to claim the position? Would she even have any support as she stood in the center of camp, alone, with only her word to prove her claim?
Sandpaw shook off her dark thoughts. StarClan’s will is true - they will guide me forward. I must believe that everything will turn out the way it needs to be.
How does becoming a medicine cat fit into your character's personal story/arc?:
Sandpaw is a devout young she-cat who has a strong connection with StarClan and her own spirituality. She loves her clan and is loyal but she feels a disconnect from warrior duties and training that she hasn’t been able to explain. She often gets distracted or bored by tasks like hunting and battle training. She currently has little purpose outside of her commitment to StarClan and her memories of her sister and I would love for her to discover a passion in healing and helping others and using her skills for the betterment of the clan. I think that discovering the ways of Medicine Cats will help Sandpaw discover her purpose and her true most self-actualized self and that she can grow and blossom in the best way through this path.
Sandpaw is currently enamored with the idea of her late sister Cardinalkit sending her signs through the presence of cardinals. In the tunnels with her family (Coyotecall event), Sandpaw is going to hallucinate signs and be convinced that her sister is speaking to her and guiding her path forward. In training to become a medicine cat with Briarfall, she could fall further into delusions in her beliefs or come to recognize true signs for what they are and be able to move past her sister's unfortunate death and enter the life of a medicine cat with full dedication and devotion to StarClan.
Leaving to train with Briarfall in the tunnels will bring focus and purpose to this young cat and help her realize that she needs to live life and reach her fullest potential rather than have her head up in the stars wishing her sister had never passed.
What is their current relationship with StarClan? Could they be tempted by the Dark Forest (Coyotecall)?:
Sandpaw is strongly devoted to StarClan, as I mentioned above, and would only be tempted by the dark forest if they were tricking her through the image or voice of her dead sister Cardinalkit. This is her ultimate weakness and the thing she would need to work through with training.
What is their relationship with the current LichenClan high position characters?
Sandpaw is not a traditionalist, she does not agree with the families who place importance on high status. She is a revisionist who wants LichenClan’s connection to StarClan to remain strong and for the clan to grow and change. She believes in balance above all.
Quickstar: She agrees that extra security was necessary and good (especially following Lilacmist’s death) though she does question the methods in forcing the perma-queens out onto patrols when it had been so long since they were warriors. She believes a more gradual transition back to duties would have been more effective. She like's that Quickstar is making changes and likes him as their leader.
Emberscorch: Sandpaw likes that Emberscorch is working towards balance in the clan and that she is loyal to LichenClan’s growth. Emberscorch offers a unique perspective having been a loyalist previously. Sandpaw has a lot of respect for her deputy.
Foxglovefire: Sandpaw does not yet have much of an opinion of the new medicine cat who took over Lilacmist’s position. She would feel sympathy for the cat who was thrust into this challenging position from a sign rather than a passion for the position.
What do they think about Briarfall's disappearance? How will they react to discovering that Briarfall is alive?
Sandpaw would be thrilled that the illusive figure she’d grown up hearing about was actually alive. She would see it as a sign that StarClan’s will was powerful and true. She will believe that StarClan is guiding LichenClan in the path they need to go. Sandpaw was born in a time of a lot of turmoil in the medicine cat den (and within the clan in general) - She had known Lilacmist in her kithood while Cardinalkit was sick and she was devastated when the medicine cat was found dead. She was seeing the world through a kit’s eyes and held only admiration for the medicine cat who was caring for her sister and didn't see signs of anything else. She will understand why Briarfall left (if that plot point is revealed to her), and if Sandpaw remains unaware, she might try to convince Briarfall that StarClan has proven that they want her back in the position and for Briarfall to return to LichenClan.
What does your character think of the new rules regarding the MoonCave and tunnels?
Sandpaw is upset that the MoonCave is off limits to her, as she feels drawn to its connection to StarClan. She was baptized in the waters with her siblings just before Lilacmist’s death and the resulting increase in security so she remembers how close she felt to StarClan in that moment and is craving that connection again. She understands the increase in security but wishes it was no longer necessary. She wants there to be more investigation into what is going on in the tunnels/moon cave and she would crave guidance from StarClan on this. She thinks StarClan is encouraging them to find the source of what's going on. She doesn't want the clan's connection to StarClan to be filled with fear in their most sacred spots.
Sandpaw will be fascinated by the tunnels because when she is drawn there by Coyotecall, she will see hallucinations of her sister and cardinals. Before this happens, she is of the opinion that the tunnels are dangerous - but soon they will be drawing her in.
How does your character view the tension between the traditionalists and revisionists in LichenClan?
Sandpaw is a revisionist and believes that traditionalism is not required for devotion to StarClan. There are some traditions that can be kept as they define LichenClan and who they are, but there are also traditions that are outdated and serve no purpose but to hold some cats above others. She thinks some of the new rules regarding the queens are harsh, but she believes that change is necessary in the long-term.
