The Apostles is a warrior cats roleplay based in northern Wisconsin. On Lake Superior, the wild cats have made the Apostle Islands their home. It is on these islands - Rocky Island and South Twin Island - that the clan and tribe cats have lived in a peace and harmony that ebbs and flows with the tide.
But as the tides turn, so does the truce that binds them to one another; and as the water raises, a darkness follows, an evil that will end in bloodshed and violence.

Position Desired: Both
Leader/Deputy IC Sample:
Quickstar leveled his gaze over the distance skyline, body lulled into a near stupor by the gentile sounds of his home. The sun was beginning to lower and he knew back in cave, the clan was beginning to settle down for the night. His normal routine would see him settling down beside his mate and close friends for their evening meal with his senior warriors updating him on the day's events. He would take a moment to watch over the aspiring apprentices and silently observe the interactions of his warrior.
Everyday he was thankful for another day to see what he had strove for, what he had worked for.
Tonight, however, his routine would be different.
With a stretch, the charcoal tom slipped away from the shoreline to face the yawning mouth of the MoonCave he knew to be just beyond the turn in the rocks before him. Like so many times before, a flicker of uncertainty fluttered in his chest. He took a slow inhale, held his breath for three counts, then released it, imagining his uneasiness sinking into the rocks below to be swallowed by the waters beyond.
Tonight, Quickstar would welcome new apprentices to their ranks, and lead them in their first confession as apprentices in which they would devote themselves to their clan and understanding StarClan.
Tonight, Quickstar would not lounge and contemplate another day having passed. Tonight, Quickstar would open his heart and his mind to his ancestors, and beseech them to guide the new apprentices in their future. Tonight, Quickstar was a leader.
What is your character's top three goals/dreams for LichenClan after the battle?: very similar to Yarrow unfortunately XD. Quick likes to look at it as his 'Three Rs'
RECOVER
First and foremost, Quickstrike wishes to focus on recovering within the clan. There are many cats who have been wrongly exiled as well as wrongly pardoned. Quickstrike aims to rectify as much as he possibly can while tending to the blatant trust issues his clan has with authority as well as each other. He longs for a more cohesive unit, like that of RedwoodClan, though he knows many will view this thought in bad terms. The revolution has taught him one thing though, and it's that when bound together, they are the strongest.
RESTORE
Quickstrike is too young to have remembered a time before Minnowstar. The stories of LichenClan being pious, StarClan driven introverts seems foreign, yet oddly humbling and familiar. Knowing he has to bend to achieve support from the clan as a whole, Quickstrike will push for a restoration of old traditions. He wishes to restores the publics faith in StarClan, to make them turn towards themselves to become self aware of their actions and sins. While Quikstrike himself may not necessarily believe much in the old ways, he knows old habits die hard and will find comfort himself in the old ways. As he has never experienced the old traditions himself, he plans to appoint a small counsel of elders and senior warrior to help guide him in these ways.
REDEFINE
All he has are stories and the accounting of those his elder to know what it was like before. Having never been a true believer before the uprising, Quickstrike's new found belief in StarClan is fresh, and thus brittle. Taxed by the stress that will come with being a leader, Quickstrike would surely struggle once more with his belief in a great power in stark contrast to his reliance on them during the revolution. Quickstrike will not shy away from his insecurities anymore, however. He wishes to return to the more pious ways of old, but with a new twist. He does not want his clan falling into the cycle they've been stuck in, and he fears a resurgence of the current issues later down the line. He does not wish for his clan to remain stuck in their holes, with their heads buried in the sand like the old days, just waiting for StarClan to do everything for them. He wishes to redefine his, and his clan's, relationship with StarClan, and that means no longer obsessing over their approval, but rather asking for guidance, and learning to be more self reliant.
How will your character mend the relationship of previous Minnowstar loyalists and rebels?:
Quickstrike will allow all loyalists to come forth and speak their mind. And I mean it, like, he’s all ready for some fire and brimstone stuff. He will weigh the crimes they have been accused of, address them to the clan and the individual, and give them a chance to defend themselves. He plans on giving every single loyalist a chance to prove their worth and change, but only once. He will give them the choice of reform or exile. Reform will not be easy, for Quickstrike will not simply just let it be; they will be watched until they have proven themselves. Quickstrike strives for a LichenClan where they can live in peace and not have to be worried in their own home. Quickstrike will address his own sins as well, for he is not above the law and will accept all consequences for his own actions.
How will your character support building political relationships with the other Clans and Tribe? How will they redefine their relationships with RWC/TC?:
Quickstrike will first and foremost issue a formal apology and press that he is doing what he can to right was wrongs his clan, and those within it, have done. He will express outright that he plans on seeing to justice within his own clan, but will allow other clans to bring forth accusations of their own, of which he will investigate himself. He will strive to mend relations but will not make it a point to be friends, as his own clan has much that they need to do themselves. Quickstrike will honor his agreement to the Tunnel Cats and offer asylum to them, allowing them to come home once more. This will be extended to those who were wrongfully exiled or forced to leave, but do not take mistake him for his generosity; those who chose to leave will have no further opportunity to return.
How does becoming deputy or leader fit into your character's personal story/arc?:
From a character who was ostracized as a kit by his leader and family due to his bloodline, to publicly elected rebellion leader, and ending with accepting his destiny and stepping forth of his own accord to lead his clan into a better future.
Quickstrike started out as the outcast just trying to stay alive and unnoticed. He was unknowing of his true heritage until late in his warriorhood. He grew up oppressed, boxed in, and singled out for reasons yet unknown. He made himself small and weak in order to keep his life and his family safe. Despite all his trying however, time and time again he found himself or his family on the line. What started as a selfish effort to make the clan a better place for his sons has turned into something grander. He now wants a future for his clan as a whole where they can reach their full potential and not have to be afraid of their own home.
Him stepping forth of his own accord and wishing to lead his clan is a true testament to his character growth. With the rebellion over, Minnowstar dead, and LichenClan realigned, things look much more promising for the future he hoped to secure. He didn’t choose to lead the rebellion, heck, he doesn’t even consider himself a major player until later in the game. He was chosen to lead the rebels and accepted because he knew no other way. But now, Quickstrike wishes to actively take part in replanting LichenClan and wants to grow with his clan. And he knows the only way to properly see this through is to continue to guide his clan in their, and his, rebirth.
Name:Doge Experience: I have played a leader/admin position once upon a time when I was a younger pupper but I think I got the jist of what is expected of a HP on TA. Regarding the activity requirements and responsibility for one’s own threads to make the role lively. Am reliable shibe. Character Name:Wispfang Relevant Threads:
Witch Trials - At the time, it was clear that Wispfang escaped any punishment for his sins by simply being judged as useful and loyal to Minnowstar during her reign. Looking back on this after all that happened, Wispfang will come to understand that he was not judged by StarClan that day but instead judged by Minnowstar to not be a threat to her rule.
RWC vs LC - While the obvious highlight of this thread was Lionpaw’s death, when Honeybun appears as aid Wispfang finds himself full of humiliation. This thread cites the beginning of Wispfang’s disgust for his clan’s position. It also hints at Wispfang being almost a sliver away from disobeying, killing a rogue, despite Minnowstar ordering them to be allies.
RWC vs LC: Empire Strikes Back - This thread is relevant to Wispfang’s ability to lead and give commands that is most apparent in the beginning and the end of the thread. He does not show the most glossy or wholesome type of empathy for Sagefrost, but at least some empathy and desire to see her succeed is there. This thread is a good highlight to Wispfang acting with the success of others in mind because if they succeed then he succeeds as well.
Doctor Therapy - Having confided to Briar in a previous thread on the subject of Merlintail, Shellpaw, and Harrierpaw having a positive impact on his life. This thread goes deeper on showcasing Wispfang doing things with not only himself in mind. I would say this thread is the first instance of Wispfang labeling Minnowstar as an enemy. As Wispfang receives the answers to his questions through Briarfall’s silence.
Rejecting One Side to Join Another - With this is his rebel recruitment thread, this thread shows Wispfang acknowledging Lavendermist not only for her bravery but craves how much more free she is via being untethered after exile. She is taking risks to break the chains of Minnowstar’s wicked ways, and for that, Wispfang feels he cannot kill her. And instead offers to help, thinking of Merlintail, Harrierpaw, and Shellpaw.
*Honorable Mention*
Mamma Tide Knows Best- Wispfang faces the realization that at the end of the day he must not destroy himself and needs to reevaluate his loyalties.
Position Desired: Both. I'll write the audition in terms of leader. All of the below concepts can either still hold true or can be watered down somewhat to fit the deputy role. Leader/Deputy IC Sample:
A calm rain provided the rich cleansing of the forest and caves which LichenClan territory was desperately in need of. Wispstar was pleased to see an apprentice soaking moss in a pool. Turning the fibers of greenery into a means by which to scrub blood of unknown origin off of the sacred stone halls and chambers. ‘Clean the caves of the camp from the battle. This will be a task for all cats, able-bodied, not currently receiving direct care in medicine cat's den for serious wounds or injuries. I expect this to be done in the next few days.’ The pale leader ordered the task to every stable warrior, queen, and apprentice of the clan just yesterday. There could be a small smile seen forming in the corners of his mouth. Diligently a warrior could be seen accepting clean moss from the apprentice and carrying it away to be used. He took in a deep breath the idea of alleviating their camp from it’s own wounds would somehow soothe them, too. While Wispstar found himself impressed with his clan’s progress so far, he expected no less from them. They will clean these caves and I do not care what they speak of while they do it. I cannot think straight with all the blood, and I cannot stand the musk the other two clans have left behind.
Swiveling back, Wispstar turned from looking over the weathered high-ledge and made his descent to his new dwelling. Making his way into the recessed room directly underneath it. Staring numbly at the farthest wall, he wondered briefly how his announcement was perceived. Over-obsessing about every detail in hindsight as he allowed his weariness to show out of sight. Did I speak loud enough? He felt dread to even attempt to replay it back in his mind. Still shaken from receiving his nine lives, each and every of the nine sensations StarClan chose had been daunting. Wispstar sank in his newly fashioned nest. This was the place. She went mad in here. The thought chilled him even still enough to consider the revelation from Briarfall afterwards. She had one life left and went mad, paranoid to lose it.
The tapping of a set of paws drew closer, and Wispstar was surprised to see Saltwhisker standing at the mouth of the den. Narrowing his eyes at the warrior, he unsheathed his claws slightly. He felt his promise to Briarfall was on trial every new day; he was the best option and best hope to see the loyalists and rebels learn to coexist better than anyone. And he wasn’t afraid to correct a couple of older warriors in the process. You better be getting along with the rebels or I will make you meet your maker. This better be worth it. Wispstar thought to himself as he rose to acknowledge Saltwhisker, waiting until the seal point tom dipped his head.
“Something amiss?”
‘...Monarchmask is looking for a heathen. A rogue…’ Wispstar straightened his shoulders, continuing to listen to the warrior's report. He knew Monarchmask always seemed to have an affinity for strong warriors, but a rogue was no friend. “Thank you, Saltwhisker. I will talk to him personally.”
What are your character's top three goals/dreams for LichenClan after the battle?:
1. Wispstar upon coming into power, would quickly aim to reestablish that rogues are demonic outsiders. Minnowstar lied to them; she was corrupted, and left the light of StarClan in favor of wanting to have the maximum amount of paws to throw at RedwoodClan. In order to atone, Wispstar would order any and all rogues to engage physically the moment they are spotted on LichenClan territory. Also, if possible, rogues should be captured so they can use them as sacrificial offerings to cleanse LichenClan from previous sins. Any cat reported to Wispstar as being merciful towards rogues will be personally dealt with and punished.
2. Another goal for Wispstar would be to introduce at least a partial or major destruction of LichenClan’s aristocracy. Allowing family lines known as cursed or defiled by Minnowstar’s prejudice to breathe easier. Also, indirectly, he will destroy the typical idea of she-cats being told they need to seek out mates of high status. And while it is easy to label this as wholesome, Wispstar would do this more so as an experiment to see which cats will benefit and become successful with these new conditions. Taking great amusement in seeing what protest this might create among some, but taking pride in the smiles of those who it will benefit.
3. Wispstar will try to recenter StarClan in the eyes of the clan, but will understand that Minnowstar’s ways were extreme. Her suspicions and paranoia caused clanmates to despise each other as there was a very wide range of treatment from cat to cat under Minnowstar. He will look to level that playing field and cats who don’t believe in StarClan will not be heavily persecuted; they will be simply skeptics, those who just haven’t witnessed the light for themselves. The goal is essentially that Wispstar will seek to lower the prejudice that some cats faced within LichenClan before the battle.
How will your character mend the relationship of previous Minnowstar loyalists and rebels?:
Wispstar will strictly aim to enforce the idea that the rebels were doing the right thing all along. He, himself, is willing to admit to the new LichenClan that it took having to look at rogues everyday for him to begin to want what was right all along. Wispstar will destroy the idea of nobility being passed simply by birth or courtship. He will announce that cats considered traitors under Minnowstar should and will have a fresh start. Wispstar will also ask of the rebels that as long as the loyalists treat them with this newly restored level of respect, that they do not harbor any bitterness.
Wispstar will personally deal with any loyalist, rebel, or tunnel cat unwilling to treat each other with respect or quell hostility. The first visit from Wispstar would consist of reiterating his expectations and what will not be tolerated. With any need for a second visit most likely being a violent one for anyone who truly is not able to mend the relationships within their split clan. I think this would open up a lot of individual choices for what people would like to do with specifically their loyalists. But Wispstar will not allow rebels to feel superior either, so that is important to keep in mind as well. Overall, his new order would test each and every cat, with the final product being a more cohesive clan.
How will your character support building political relationships with the other Clans and Tribe? How will they redefine their relationships with RWC/TC?:
Wispstar will feel a stinging hostility initially towards both clans for essentially ravaging their camp. It would reflect during the first gathering, he would be cold, and keep his status report for LichenClan short and sweet. He would announce the readmission of any refugees exiled by Minnowstar as well as the tunnel cats that may wish to stay due to their past LichenClan origins. All would be allowed to return so long as they plan to be loyal and well-meaning. Following the moons after his first gathering as leader, and getting some of the newly appointed leader nerves out of his system, he will warm up past the feelings holding him back. Maybe warming enough to cause a ruckus.
LichenClan and ThistleClan could possibly forge a positive relationship, with Wispstar leading. If he is able to convince Stagstar to support his desire to eradicate the rogues. While obviously leaving out his true intentions on what he might want to do to them upon capture.
Towards the tribe is a bit up in the air for Wispstar as they’re known to exist, but they are currently out of reach, beyond the lake. If this were to change and they become able to cross over, it would depend on the tribe’s presentation or intentions. It can at least be said that Wispstar would not offer them shelter, still reeling from living with rogues. However, truly, if the tribe was in a disastrous position and desperate enough, Wispstar would offer them what they might need, but at a cost.
How does becoming deputy or leader fit into your character's personal story/arc?:
With initially out the gate only having his ambition and boldness, it did not necessarily fit him. However, over time Wispfang has become more faithful through the things he’s experienced and the emotions brought on by those events. He was all violence, all wrath, and all cunning to satisfy a craving for violence. But Wispfang has grown into a character that through his arc so far has brought instances of humility, or he has earned reasons to be more humble for this life. I would plan to continue his story as while not being an obvious choice for leader or deputy, but an ideal choice. A loyalist who fought for the rebels in the end, he knows what it’s like to be both and could find a way to bring them together. As stated in his 2nd goal, Wispstar is willing to abolish his own nobility that he enjoyed under Minnowstar. Under him, families who had their bloodlines disgraced publicly with punishment during her witch trials would earn equality.
He’ll pursue the rogues very early on, almost obsessively, once the clan has recovered. And I would like to expand on him earning humiliation to keep his wrath and bloodlust in check. He’s always taunted or mocked enemies for being unable to kill him in fights. I’d love to have him wake up in starclan-esque purgatory, stunned and being an absolute embarrassed trainwreck at the realization he just died. Losing his first life recklessly will be a pivotal moment for him and lead to his second character arc in which he has to learn to find a balance between wrath and humility. So forcibly having to face his flaws (through losing that life) plays into that by making him realize that leadership demands level-headedness and that he comes to see that if he wants to be a good leader and a strong one, he ultimately deserved that reality check.
Experience: Never RP'd on a forum before TA, so I have never been in a HP before in an RP setting. I debated if I was too new, but ultimately I do feel that I've been around TA long enough at this point to understand the main points of what's expected of an HP character, and I know I can devote the time and brainpower to doing so.
Relevant threads: If There's Darkness We're Lost in it - Fogheart examines the state of Lichenclan as several revelations about his clan mate's actions rock his loyalist views.
Serene Salvation Storm - During a turbulent day, he is confronted by a cat whose actions he abhors and shares his thoughts on Lichenclan's standing with Starclan in prayer.
Entering the camp second in the column of cats that had made the trek to the Gathering, Fogheart met the leader's eyes and nodded his understanding. He had offered to resolve the issue that had arisen at the Gathering, and they had agreed with his proposed course of action. He halted at the mouth of the tunnel and watched his clan members trickle past, before halting the two that he needed to speak to. One of them came grudgingly, anger flashing in his eyes. The other meekly, almost shy. Standing side by side, they could not have seemed more different. He led them further into camp, into an off-shoot cave where there were no inquisitive eyes or ears to worry over.
The Gathering had been proceeding smoothly, until Falconfire had yowled out an insult and accusations at Chicorypelt - in front of all three clans gathered. He'd accused the white tom of sharing Lichenclan's private information with a Redwoodclan molly who - Fogheart had noticed - Chicorypelt had seemed far too familiar. Falconfire had nearly launched himself at the smaller tom until Fogheart had leapt to stop him.
"Now then, to begin with." He fixed his eyes on Chicorypelt, his voice severe. "You are a Lichenclan warrior. And while being friendly at Gatherings is expected, a warrior should always have his clan's best interests at heart. Giving away privileged information to a cat that could someday be an enemy is not acceptable."
Quickly he turned to Falconfire, who looked positively feral at seeing Chicorypelt scolded. "And you are also a Lichenclan warrior. If you had concerns over Chicorypelt's actions, you should have aired them privately here in camp. By not doing so, you have made the same error as he did, and made our clan's problems known to others. You also nearly broke the truce of having peaceful Gatherings, and in doing so would have dishonored Starclan."
He stared both warriors directly in the eyes for several long silent moments, to impress upon them his dissapointment in their actions. "You have both dishonored your clan tonight. In manners unfitting of warriors. Due to that, after sunrise tomorrow you will report to the elder's den, and assist them by cleaning out their bedding and ridding them of ticks." He paid no heed to their rising arguments, not letting their words sway him though he did pay attention to what they said, and let them finish. Once their words had petered out and the cave was silent again, he continued. "Once those duties are finished, you will report to me for a patrol."
He did not share with them in that moment what his goals for that patrol would be. That he hoped to speak to them both in the other's presence and let their viewpoints be heard. That he wanted them to hear each other - and actually listen so that they could understand where their differences ended. It was the only way to stop the infighting that was still ongoing within the clan. He had to find a way for his clan mates to see what brought them together, instead of only what divided them. Tomorrow, on that patrol, he would start to try with these two.
What is your character's top three goals/dreams for LichenClan after the battle?: 1 - Help LC forge it's new identity by finding a balance between honoring old culture and embracing new ideas. (Should they return to pacifism? Should they embrace a more modern clan where there are no class-like expectations on toms and mollies? Etc.) Fogheart believes that he can do this by being the bridge between clan members that have opposing views. He wants to earn their respect and loyalty by doing all he can to see their perspectives, embrace things that are foreign to him, and resolve problems fairly. There is bound to be a lot of strife within the clan in the future, and Fogheart's calm and solid presence can help provide stability. Part of this does include punishment for loyalists and their war crimes - and Fogheart is prepared to take part in that himself. He believes that in doing so he can provide a fair example to the clan.
2 - Equality. Any cat that belongs to the clan, follows the warrior code, and believes in Starclan should have the same standing. Tom or molly, low birth or high. Fog wants to ensure that all of LC's cats feel safe and acknowledged. It's simple as far as he is concerned, and as deputy he will do whatever he thinks is appropriate to foster this equality. This goes back to seeking out viewpoints that are not his own, as some of the cats that have until now not been seen as equal will have insight he lacks.
3 - Lichenclan independence. While Fogheart acknowledges and appreciates what the other clans did to rid the island and especially LC of Minnowstar, he does worry that going forward Lichenclan will be seen as weak, like some sort of vassal state to be overseen by the other groups. Lichenclan needs to run itself and solve it's own problems from now on, and the cats within it should not feel as though any new problem that arises should be solved by the other clans. They need to be loyal to the idea of forging a clan to be proud of, together. This does entail that while Fogheart will certainly respect the other clan's territory and leaders, he does not want them over-involved in Lichenclan's future and he will guard clan secrets jealously.
How will your character mend the relationship of previous Minnowstar loyalists and rebels?: Once Fogheart fully learns and understands that there was a real rebel faction within the clan, he will believe that their goal was the right one. Removing Minnowstar from power was important. However he will also worry about loyalties. Lichenclan will be changing, and he worries that cats that were rebels once will continue to be if they are unhappy. On the flip side, he also will be very wary about the remaining Minnowstar loyalists that might hold resentment to the new version of the clan. As mentioned above, Fogheart will subject himself to punishment if necessary, and will hope that in doing so he can set an example to the clan of a cat willing to embrace change and accept wrong doings. His tactic to resolve tensions between these factions of cats will be to provide them common ground in himself and see both sides. Because one big challenge for the new leadership is also going to be LC cats adjusting to having active, involved leaders again. Minnowstar was distant and they haven't even had a deputy for moons. Some cats will still be in the habit of solving things themselves, particularly senior warriors. As deputy Fogheart could be faced with having to reign those warriors in and give them direction, or step in to stop them from acting rashly, and make decisions that they will disagree with. As deputy he will be the 'open door' that they can come to for problems. Should arguments or fighting occur, he might mete out appropriate punishments, but his main goal will be to understand what caused the strife in the first place and try and find a resolution to that. He does not want future hostilities within Lichenclan. That being said, any cat that continually causes problems will face harsher punishments - such as being sequestered, having duties/roles taken away, or for violent acts that can't be tolerated, banishment etc. As deputy, he would of course discuss these actions with the leader first to find the best solution.
How will your character support building political relationships with the other Clans and Tribe? How will they redefine their relationships with RWC/TC?: Fogheart will not want any more tension between the clans. So far as he is concerned, the island has seen enough war to last a lifetime or two. That being said, he definitely thinks that there are separate clans for a reason - the cultures are different, the beliefs are different, and the goals of the groups are too. He would be polite to the other clan leaders/members at gatherings or upon meeting at a border, and even willing to work together in times of terrible strife (sickness, a natural disaster, etc). But he would not want to close the gaps entirely between the clans and become too close with them, because it is important to acknowledge those differences in the groups, not try to erase them. He also will be very intent on protecting Lichenclan territory. As for the Tribe, they would be foreign to him and not welcome on Lichenclan land. He has strong faith in Starclan and is a staunch follower of the warrior code, and the Tribe cats are not a clan of warriors the way Redwoodclan is, for example. Rogues are a violation of everything he believes, and if the rogues that have been staying with Lichenclan do not choose to join the clan and become true clan cats immediately after the final battle they are the enemy after that. Any rogue caught on Lichenclan turf is to be attacked and driven off.
How does becoming deputy or leader fit into your character's personal story/arc?: Fogheart's personal story is one of a cat that sees how Starclan and the warrior code intersect: the code was created by those same cats who are in Starclan now. Due to this, he believes that what Starclan wants of the clan cats more than anything else is to be honorable and dutiful to one's clan and leader, and faithful to the ideals they've laid out. Now that Lichenclan has gone through so much strife, and is in such a broken state, this is the perfect chance for him to try and spread that message further and be an example of a cat that can accept his own flaws, but still strive to be better. That is exactly what so many Lichenclan cats will need to do, if the clan is going to become whole, united, and figure out who they are again. Being challenged by cats that don't believe as he does - and having to figure out whether he can convince them, or if he needs to acknowledge their own viewpoints and change something about his belief system - is something that I really want him to go through, and I think that being deputy is a unique opportunity. Not only will he be responsible for the actions of others in a new way, he'll be thrown into unpredictable situations more, and have to answer to the leader personally. I'm also really excited at the prospect of a dynamic with the leader. Perhaps a bit of a jedi-padawan relationship, if it's the right sort of cat. I want Fog to keep growing and learning.
Name: Zuko Experience: None on this site, although have been leaders, deputies and medicine cats on other sites. Character Name:Blossomstep Position Desired: Medicine Cat Apprentice Medicine Cat Apprentice Sample:
"Blossomstep! You're needed!"
The urgent wail as Blossomstep stepped into the camp made her freeze, just momentarily, her grip tightening on the lavender hanging from her mouth, the petals shifting ever so slightly. The panic was only for just a moment, however - there was no way to hide, after all, and why would she want to? Not anymore. Reacting with haste, Blossomstep bunched up her hindquarters and strode into camp, taking three clear strides to cross the camp and straight into the medicine cat den, only to stop in horror as she found Oatpaw sprawled on the floor, his back leg twisted slightly. It didn't look painful, no blood, but the wild glare in Oatpaw's eyes said otherwise.
"Breathe, Oatpaw, breathe." Blossomstep let the lavender fall from her mouth, brushing it to the side with a careless paw flick. Sorting that would have to come later- there was no Orchidshade in sight. This was up to her. Racing over, the she-cat paused as she scoured over her herb piles for a few moments, mind racing. Poppy seeds... poppy seeds for pain - but no, first...
Turning, Blossomstep's eyes scoured over Oatpaw's legs, a paw raised but not touching. There was no infection, no smell of anything. Inflammation though. Twisted, but still in shape. That meant... dislocation, right? Blossomstep's eyes trailed up to the joint, seeing it - and only it - to be inflammed. Dislocation for sure.
"Okay - looks like your joint is out of place, I can fix it, but it'll be painful. Quick, I promise!" Blossomstep turned away to pull a big stick away from the side of the den and towards Oatpaw, "Bite down on this please - I'll be quick."
Once Oatpaw had taken the stick into their mouth, Blossomstep took a deep breath, pausing for just a moment. This was going to hurt - but it was for the best, right? Yeah, it was for Oatpaw. So, after the brief hesitation, Blossomstep placed both paws on Oatpaw's rump, and with just a moment, pressed all of her weight down. A sharp crack echoed through the den, accompanied by a wail from Oatpaw, muffled by the stick, but it was done. Quickly backing off, Blossomstep scoured the leg, relieved to see that everything was looking normal. The crack must have been normal...
"Okay, Oatpaw, that was really good!" Blossomstep hid her worry behind a chirrup, quickly heading to the piles and pulling forwards a single seed, "Take this. Your muscles will be sore, this will help. You can stay here for now, until Orchidshade gets back."
Why does your character want to become a medicine cat?: Ever since she was a kit, Blossomstep has had her eye on the medicine cat den. She finds herself drawn to the herbs and the medicinal aspect of that life, although she knew it would have to take a backseat to being a warrior, as the apprentice position was filled by a cat who came to be her best friend. Time has passed since, and still Blossomstep finds that the fascination remains. Whenever she has a break, she visits to help and learn more. Since Bouncefire left, her attendance has become shaky, almost hesitant - after all, this was Bouncefire's position, and she doesn't want to jump in and take it! That was never her idea, never what she wanted. The desire is still there, though, and if such a path was openly presented to her.. she'd find it difficult to say no.
How does becoming a medicine cat fit into your character's personal story/arc?: Taking the step into the world of the medicine cat seems to be the ideal next step for Blossomstep. Her heart has always lain with herbs and healing, despite not thinking that it would ever be possible. It would take her a while to step fully into the role, believing that they're not supposed to be here, that Bouncefire should be here instead, but eventually she would grow to accept that he made his own choice and took himself out of the Clan, and that this place was open. Blossomstep would embrace the art of healing and learn to grow and care for the clan in her own way.
How does your character view StarClan?: StarClan is not at the forefront of Blossomstep's mind. She knows that they exist (and conversely believes in the evil side where the evil cats go, Minnowstar be damned) and she respects them, but communicating with them is not the reason that she wants to step into the healing role. Personally, if she got this role, her mind would be full of fear regarding StarClan. After all, Bouncefire was a cat that StarClan chose and blessed, and they weren't the one who threw him out. What if they don't like her, or think of her as an intruder? This fear would cling to her mind until she gets clarity (whichever way it may be) at the half-moon meeting. Communicating with her ancestors is a skill that Blossomstep will need to grow and accept as she develops, and will largely depend on how the position goes.
How does your character view the other RedwoodClan High Position characters? Blossomstep holds a lot of respect for the leader and deputy of all of the clans (she used to not respect LichenClan, but she can deal with Yarrowstar and Quickstrike, just about). Finchstar and Icesong are no exception, and she admires them for their bravery and undying loyalty to RedwoodClan and their desire to make it better. She would be a bit nervous to express herself to them at first, but as time passes and she grows more comfortable in the medicine cat role, she would find it easier to talk to Finchstar and Icesong, slowly growing to view them as not untouchable, but just ordinary cats. Orchidshade is a cat that Blossomstep has known quite closely for her entire life. Ever since she was a kit, Blossomkit was always skirting by Orchidshade's words and punishments to spend more time in the medicine cat den. As Blossomstep has grown, she has become more used to Orchidshade's harsher words and manners, and learned how to tally with her well. There's still a little fear when regarding the medicine cat, but more in the way that Blossomstep doesn't want to cross her and her works, knowing how important herbs are to the welfare of the clan.
How does your character view RedwoodClan post-war? Blossomstep has always been incredibly proud of her clan - she always believed that they were in the right, although chose to support via the sidelines whenever possible. She's pleased with the new-found peace that has settled among both her clan and all of the clans, although she knows that there may always be a little prejudice towards LichenClan that she would need to work through (lest her father ever becomes known to her). She respects the RedwoodClan ways of peace and respect, and wants to keep this for as long as possible, reducing unneeded casualties. She knows, though, that this also depends on other clans keeping the peace also, and there's only so much that she can do.
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! The calico apprentice howled inwardly as she rushed back to the store of herbs nestled deep in Orchidshades den. Asterstorm had accidentally brought Orchidshade borage leaves instead of the dock leaves she'd asked for. The leaves have a similar color but the shape was different. When her new mentor had asked her if Oaktalon looked like he was an expecting queen, all Asterstorm could do was burn with embarrassment. The large white tom had come in for a minor scratch along his forleg and she'd brought him an herb to help nursing queens. If only she could bury her head into the ground now.
Instead Asterstorm rushed back silently and snatched up the correct green leaf. Immediately upon returning to her mentors side, Orchidshade flicked her tail towards Oaktalons injury. "Chew it up into a pulp and gently rub it into the wound. It'll sting for a moment but he'll get over it." Orchidshade meowed before turning away. Asterstorm gave a quick nod and got to work, making sure not to accidently swallow any of the bitter juices. The last thing she needed was a bellyache. "This might stain your fur for a bit but it'll feel better and no infections... so thats good!" she meowed to the warrior. The two quietly chatted for a moment while the poultice worked its wonders and the white warrior left in less pain which gave the calico a rush of pride. It hadn't been much but at least it was something.
"Make sure your paws are clean and start organizing those herbs..." her mentor called as she began to exit the den. "And don't mix them up this time" she added poking her head back into the den briefly before leaving again.
Asterstorm sighed lightly feeling a bit defeated and overwhelmed. Was this really what she was supposed to be doing? Her thoughts drifted back to when Orchidshade explained the dream to her. Standing alone and anxious in the medicine cats den, wondering about Bouncefire and wondering who could take his place as her apprentice. The wind outside began to howl and a furious gust blew into the den. It buffeted the medicine cats black pelt and in turn threw herbs and flowers into the air. Herbs flew around but the one thing that stood out the most in the sudden storm was the delicate purple aster flower petals. Even Asterstorm had a hard time arguing with the dream. But still she wondered if this was the right place for her.
A sudden wail interrupted the calicos thoughts and she turned quickly to see two apprentices pelting through the entrance, eyes wide. Panic filled Asterstorm as she realized she was without her mentor. Even more so when recognition hit her. These were her sisters kits. Whats happened?! she thought in fear as she raced up to them, smelling blood instantly. Berrypaw was clearly in pain, his face twisted up. Where as his sister seemed more calm... actually more annoyed than anything. Berrypaws tail was dripping blood all over the place as he lashed it about. "What happened?" she demanded as she sprinted back to the stash and grabbed some cobwebs. Berrypaw began to explain but Sunnypaw piped up explaining that they'd just been playing and she'd accidentally bit his tail too hard.
"Too hard? It's bleeding everywhere! Were you trying to bite it off?" Berrypaw retorted. Asterstorm snorted, eyeing the bite as she quickly pressed the webs against the wounds.
"They aren't that deep actually. Tails and ears tend to bleed more even if the wound is minor." Asterstorm meowed calmly even though she was sure the apprentice could feel her trembling. Luckily like Oaktalon, the wound wasn't bad.
"See the wound is minor.." Sunnypaw drawled but Berrypaw just stuck his tongue out at her.
"You'll keep your tail, I promise" the medicine cat apprentice purred. She turned to her golden pelted niece. "Keep this pressed on your brothers tail while I go grab something to help with the pain" she meowed turning away. "And make sure you keep it pressed or it'll bleed more." she added more sternly. Realization struck her. She sounded like Orchidshade. She sounded like a medicine cat. A smile played lightly on her lips as the apprentice siblings bickered in the background. Maybe she was meant to do this.

Why does your character want to become a medicine cat?:
Want to become? Oh no. Asterstorm doesn't want to be a medicine cat. She wants to be a warrior. She wants an apprentice of her own one day, help them become a great warrior too. She wants to continue her relationship with Reedtail, maybe even have kits one day. But she’s been chosen. She is just as shocked as everyone else, if not more so! Even Orchidshade seemed shocked. She had to be wrong right? She must have interpreted the signs wrong… But she didn’t. Even though Asterstorm does not exactly wish to be a medicine cat, she will do whatever it takes to be a great one. Maybe this was Starclans way of giving her one last chance to redeem herself. A chance to change her ways for the better, a chance for her to help her clanmates instead of hurting them.
How does becoming a medicine cat fit into your character's personal story/arc?:
Asterstorm spent her kithood sickly and frail. Often visiting or visited by the medicine cat - as an apprentice she had an accident forcing her to spend an extensive amount of time in Orchidshades den. She hated it for the most part. Granted she had learned a thing or two, she was far more focused on one particular healing item. One she learned to abuse. It caused a tumultuous relationship with Orchidshade. It caused a strain on her relationship with her sister, unbeknownst to Daffodilshimmer. Since then she's been struggling to balance an unhealthy addiction to poppy seeds and her everyday warrior life and her relationship with Reedtail.
Becoming medicine cat apprentice will force Asterstorm to face reality. To grow up and mature. To leave her habits in the past. Her past injuries have made it difficult for her to be the warrior she should be but her passion to help her clan mates and those she cares about remains fiery. It won't be easy for her and it certainly won’t be easy for her new mentor. She will face many hard choices and she won't always pick the correct answer but her ambition to help her clan pulls her through.
How does your character view StarClan?:
Asterstorm has always believed in her ancestors but she cared more for herself for many moons. She prayed to Starclan when it benefited her in the moment. A name to praise when things go well but a name to curse when things go sour. But she never really paid close attention. The one thing she never wants to be is a religious zealot like LichanClan. So perhaps she hangs back from her ancestors in fear of becoming someone she doesn't like.
Being chosen would cause her views to change - at first with intense confusion. She won't understand, she’ll question Orchidshade, her leader, herself, everything… but she'll try. She work hard to see things differently - more openly. She will learn that every cats connection with their ancestors is different and that’s ok.
How does your character view the other RedwoodClan High Position characters?
As hard as Asterstorm has tried - she has not exactly impressed any of them. Poor Orchidshade has dealt with her in more negative circumstances than positive - at least as of late. She'd once destroyed Orchidshades den in a desperate hunt for seeds and was dealt a punishment for it by Finchstar. And how could Icesong forgive her for leaving Snowtalon in the recent battle with LichenClan? Especially after loosing her mate and daughter… If anyone is more surprised by this revelation than herself, it would be them! She has a deep respect for them all, keeping Redwoodclan running couldn't be easy afterall but Asterstorm is still young and stubborn... She won't make it easy on them. She will make it particularly hard on Orchidshade.
How does your character view RedwoodClan post-war? Asterstorm feels pretty neutral post war. She knows they won. Overall she was proud of her clan and she was happy they were experiencing a moment of peace. Maybe it was temporary. Maybe it wasn't. So why focus on it until it becomes a problem?
She isn't as non-chalant as she appears outwardly because inwardly, nightmares of the battle still plagued her. Every night she remembers. She remembers the pain in her body. The snarling face of the small she-cat who'd battered her. The blood that stained her nephews white pelt and the ground beneath him. His furious screech ringing in her ears as she fled. She never wants to see that again. She wants to be a great warrior but deep down she is terrified. She wished so deeply she could have helped him right then and there instead of running away.
So instead of focusing on her clan like she should, since the battle Asterstorm has been focused on herself. Healing from yet another shoulder injury, and healing from the intense guilt of leaving her nephew. Shoving seeds down her throat to numb everything that refused to heal. Besides herself, Asterstorms mind has had two main points of focus. Her poppy seed addiction and her growing relationship with Reedtail. Her days have been filled with outings with Reedtail or sneaking away to enjoy a high on her own or with her niece Mallowfrost. She did her job and stayed off the radar. She wants to continue to try to juggle her life but things aren't that easy.
Name: Catalysta Experience: TC Deputy as well as playing a healer (Ara) Character Name:Beaverkit Position Desired: RedwoodClan Medicine Cat Apprentice Medicine Cat Apprentice Sample:
It was a border skirmish that brought two mangled warriors into Orchidshade's den. She worked on one of them in that orderly and determined fashion of hers. Beaverpaw watched her from the corner of his eye. Sometimes the most valuable things he picked up on were from observation, nothing more. Every moment was a learnable moment.
She chewed a blended poultice of marigold petals and comfrey roots. He joined her without faltering, taking half, familiar with their properties and use. Wounds were the quickest killers; he took great care to remember their best remedies. Marigold, to prevent infection. Comfrey to soothe.
Interestingly, the flowered plant also aided in mending broken bones. A break could make the difference between a warrior continuing to serve their clan or not. What a bleak future that would be for a Clan, to not have someone skilled enough to set an injury like that.
They were all truly lucky to have Orchidshade. Beaverpaw was determined to ensure that he became as valuable as her. He could not instill false confidence in his Clan; he needed to be as skilled. One day she would not be there to offer her expertise. These sentiments floated around his mind as he gnashed his teeth through purple flowerbuds.
Once it was all chewed into a fine pulp, he pulled his attention away from his mentor entirely. It was of grave importance to give any patient his full attention. A small nick behind Tigerpool's ear, easy to overlook, could become infected if ignored. That infection would cause fever, inflammation.. A wound so close to the tom's ear and cranium, it could be cause for further complications.
A small swab of the paste glazed the tabby fur atop his neck. Fortunately, he held stiller than most. "You're used to this, aren't you," Beaverpaw remarked as he applied much more paste to a different, deeper wound.
Dark fur lined the warrior's claws. He could see scratches on the tom's paw pads, perhaps offensive injuries. "Put up quite the fight. I've heard of all the battles you've won. You're-" he swallowed, biting back a retch at the bitter taste of his herbs (something he still had to get used to). Pausing to rasp the medicine over the soles of Tigerpool's feet, he then continued, "You're a formidable fighter. All warriors should strive to be as strong as you."
Beaverpaw believed that fighting for the Clan was the major responsibility of all warriors. Pacifists had good intentions at heart, he knew that, but the stark reality was that everything RedwoodClan had was worth fighting for. Territory, prey, safety... honor. Though he did not prefer the path of a warrior, he held them all in high esteem -- but in addition had high expectations.
Despite his careful application of cobwebs, he struggled to get them to stick to the tom's sleek pelt.
"You should stay here, at least until it all dries. Let me know if you move to your nest, since I'll have to reapply the cobwebs," he spoke with firmness that didn't waver - even if Tigerpool was his senior by many moons. For, when it came to matters of healing, the healer should be referred to. "Your paws are at most risk of infection, even if the cuts aren't deep.. bacteria can get in easily. Keep them clean even after they scab. And don't scratch your ear," he urged, "You could tear the wound, and then it would be a much bigger problem. We want you back out there defending our borders as soon as possible,"he swallowed, but lifted his chin and gave an affirmative nod, "you should be at your healthiest for that."
He knew bedridden warriors, advised not to push themselves while they were still recovering, could become very restless and impatient. He would too. He imagined nothing could keep him from his duties, and only hoped that proved to be the same for his Clan-mates.
When Tigerpool is too old to serve the Clan, his contributions will be sorely missed... I should talk to him later about eating herbs that will keep him healthy. I'm sure Orchidshade will know the best ones for that,Beaverpaw mused silently, it'll be another branch of medicine for me to learn! At that potential, his whiskers quivered briefly with excitement.
"Now, let me finish examining you. You were fighting not long ago, your adrenaline might be numbing hidden injuries. You're not sore anywhere, are you? No strained muscles?" He glanced to his mentor then, where she sat tending her own patient too, "Those can be pretty serious, can't they? I'm sure there's something we can give you for things like that..."
It was while Beaverpaw was working that he was at his most talkative and most open. Communication played a vital role in efficient treatment, and in many other aspects of life too. Although, he only truly applied that to more official responsibilities. He would talk for a bit longer as he tested for tenderness along Tigerpool's flank. His touch was heavy and concentrated. Tigerpool was tough; Beaverpaw would need to be fully convinced before he was satisfied.
Long after the warriors fell into their slumbers, made comfortable by padded moss nests, Beaverpaw went over his treatment of Tigerpool many times over. At one point, he had to stifle the urge to rouse him to check for things that occurred to him later.
Rest is important. I will wake up before him to double check, he blinked, and make sure his wounds haven't infected. And I'll reapply the medicine, so long as we have the herbs to spare. To make sure, he busied himself among the well-tended stockpiles, tracking what they would go through over the next few days. I should probably ask Orchidshade if we can go and get more comfrey. We're going to run out of it. Hmm.. or I could get a warrior to take me. It's about time I started proving my memory of what she's taught me.
After a little while, he felt able to sleep soundly. Orchidshade's nest lay close to his. Pale eyes peered up at him as he slipped past. At the realization that she was awake, he stopped.
"We did a good job today, didn't we? They'll be better and back to keeping the Clan safe in no time," His chest puffed up and he smiled proudly. They shared a few words as he settled into his nest, where lavender stalks lined the edges to help quiet his oft worried thoughts. "See you in the morning..."
Why does your character want to become a medicine cat?:
Beaverkit is excited by the idea of medicine cats. But to him it's this far-off fantasy. A kit doesn't become a medicine cat apprentice simply because they want to. They have to be chosen... and he wishes he would be chosen.
Beaverkit was born after the end of a long and terrible war, one that lasted generations. What disturbed him most about his Clan's history was not that they'd fought, but that so many of them had died. He would come to understand that lives are lost every day, whether to the enemy or to disease, infection, injury. Lives ended too short because of something that could be prevented or stopped.
He wants to save cats. It's not that he doesn't want to fight, but he would much rather fix a wound than create one.
How does becoming a medicine cat fit into your character's personal story/arc?:
Beaverkit wants his path to be one of altruism, heroism. He will come to realize that one of the only reasons the Clans have survived for so long is because of medicine. Being able to do that for his Clan would be something he'd put his all into. It would forge the path ahead for him, leaving him with no question as to what he could do to ensure his Clan not only survives the worst the island will throw at them, but to also thrive despite those obstacles. This would instill in him a great deal of confidence.
The kind of confidence to strive to play a bigger part in the more complex side of Clan leadership. Though he would be no leader or deputy, he would feel responsible for his Clan all the same - especially if he doesn't speak in their best interest when it matters most. Thus, he would involve himself heavily in that side of the role, providing as much insight as he could; relying on the support of his leaders; seeking answers from the stars, etc.
Beaverkit would live a life of dedication. Medicine would be his life's work.
How does your character view StarClan?:
Intrigued and mystified, Beaverkit desperately wants to know what it's like to connect with the ancestors of the Clans. He hopes to find answers to life's most important questions and problems through spirituality, through adamant faith. He will look for signs they've left in everything; every leaf and blade of grass could be a sign of something greater.
When he truly feels that StarClan is with him, he will find their presence warm and loving. To others, he will instill such confidence in these spirits. The Clans have much to learn from the dead, whether they simply look at the facts or open their minds to StarClan's influence. He will pray to them, worship them, and love them.
For those that Beaverkit fails to save, he would learn to guide them to StarClan's light. Encouraging those on their deathbeds not to fear the end, for it doesn't truly have to be. Death should not be filled with regret or strife or even reluctance. Lost lives should be honored. Although many won't feel ready, he will do his best to soothe their worries and wash away their stresses.
How does your character view the other RedwoodClan High Position characters?
Finchstar is a really nice leader, someone Beaverkit feels he could go to with anything even if they aren't particularly close. He watches the goings on of his leader and deputy from the nursery with clear intrigue. However, Beaverkit will come to realize that his leader struggles to make hard and fast decisions. It's something he thinks that only trouble or difficulty could come of that passive, nervous energy.
However, Icesong poses even more of an interest to him. He can see how seriously she takes her role as deputy and he looks up to that attitude. He believes all cats, warriors or otherwise, would benefit from being like her. Although she has a way of hiding her emotions, Beaverkit sees it and agrees with it. A leader figure should be level-headed and not let their emotions get the best of them. Icesong exemplifies that to a T.
Orchidshade is an enigma, a mystery. A cat who can stop bleeding and soothe sore throats and remember all sorts of medicinal cures is one thing already, making her and all those like her a savior of the highest proportions in Beaverkit's eyes. But to also be able to talk to their ancestors - and sometimes 'tell the future' - is another matter entirely.
How does your character view RedwoodClan post-war?
He was not born in the shadow of war, did not live to see the horrors of it. But he knows enough, and has the empathy to understand how hard, how frightening it must have been for his Clan. Many cats died, or experienced traumas that are beyond his young understanding.
Just knowing what happened, life becomes a treasured thing he won't take for granted.
Almost from the jump, Beaverkit wants to keep RedwoodClan strong, for them to realize that they're destined to be the greatest. Still, he knows they can become even stronger. A force not to be reckoned with. He wants RedwoodClan to realize its full potential and will push for successes that have the most positive impacts.
Name: Blitzen Experience: Rped deputy to leader (w/ Dogear) and two medicine cats on Carried Home Character Name:Dogear Position Desired: RWC Deputy
Deputy Sample:
The faintest shaft of milky blue light had beckoned Dogear from his sleep, far before the camp would be bustling with the Clan going about their daily routines. He carefully left the warrior’s den and stretched his legs in the empty camp, then headed out into the forest alone. He wasn’t worried about the dawn patrol– he had assigned the cats to take it last night. Alone, he took in the forest’s majesty and reveled in the early morning bird song and the feeling of the cool dew on his paws. As the sun rose and the forest warmed, it became more active and he hunted.
He returned to camp as sunhigh was nearing, and deposited his catches on the fresh-kill pile. The camp was fully awake now, and everyone was sharing tongues or having a morning meal. Dogear nodded to Finchstar from where he was speaking to Pebblefoot, their kits playing at their paws. He observed them for a moment, his green eyes giving nothing of what he could have been feeling away. Turning his back to the family, he gestured with his tail to a group of warriors who were chatting with each other. “I want you four to take the sunhigh patrol along the ThistleClan border.” ThistleClan had recently moved back to their territory, but Dogear had not easily forgotten Stagstar’s behavior over their borrowing RedwoodClan land. Emotions were guaranteed to be running high in ThistleClan, and RedwoodClan would not be caught unawares. “I want every blade of grass and tree marked.” He nodded to them and flicked his tail as a signal for them to leave. As the patrol departed, a tom looked back at him and Dogear wasn’t sure what that look in his eye was. As the tom turned back and the patrol disappeared, Dogear pondered the look for a few moments. Did he not like him? Did he say something wrong? Oh, well. He put the worrying out of his mind with a swish of his tail, then rose to his paws and searched the crowd of cats.
“Shalepaw!” Dogear spotted his apprentice play-fighting with another apprentice. Have they done any apprentice duties today? He wondered. It was nearly sunhigh. He sighed inwardly, no matter. He approached the apprentices, nodding to the other and then addressing Shalepaw. “Shalepaw, it’s time you were assessed.” Dogear smiled at the idea of his apprentice excelling at his assessment and becoming a warrior soon after.
“But I was playing with–”
“You can continue playing after you’re done with your assessment.” Dogear interrupted Shalepaw’s complaint, fixing with him a hard stare. “Go on.” Shalepaw got to his paws and stormed off to the camp entrance, disappearing into the trees. Looking after him, a thorn of pain started to jab him in the side. He started to worry that he was too hard on his apprentice, but he pushed the thought away. This was for the good of the Clan. Shalepaw just didn’t understand yet.
A flash of gray fur arriving into camp caught his eye. Sedgeshadow. Leftover morning dew sparkled alluringly on her long belly fur. He longed to walk with her again. He could tell that the two of them were similar, and he wanted to be closer to her. Dogear’s ears drooped only slightly at his disappointment that he couldn’t be with her right now. He had an apprentice to assess. He perked his ears back up determinedly and pursued Shalepaw’s scent out of the camp entrance and into the towering forest.
Why does your character want to become RedwoodClan's deputy?:
Dogear would not admit out loud that he wants to be RedwoodClan’s new deputy. He wants to remain humble and part of him would like to stay in the shadows and out of the limelight. However, he has served his Clan for a couple of seasons at this point and he has found that he enjoys serving his Clan in any way possible, and what better way to continue serving than to become deputy? He would still be doing what he loves and be able to implement his values more. The prospect is slightly intimidating to him, though, with the idea of filling Icesong’s shoes and working alongside Finchstar, but he has a determined attitude about it.
What accomplishments (ICly) has your character achieved to demonstrate their ability to become deputy?:
Dogear has demonstrated his ability to be a good friend to his Clanmates, mainly with Gullheart and Sedgeshadow. He can be a shoulder to lean on and an especially great sparring mate. He likes to help his Clanmates where he can, however he is often closed off emotionally and that sometimes makes helping his Clanmates a difficult task. His emotions can get the better of him, as seen when he tried to help Heathermask find Sandpaw but stormed off due to insensitive comments relating to his lineage. His origins can be a particularly touchy subject for him if not handled correctly when speaking to him about it. Otherwise, he has a mostly calm demeanor.
He has also demonstrated his ability to be a good mentor, as seen with Shalepaw, and ingratiate himself with other leadership positions in a tactical manner, as seen with Shadepool. His ability to mentor will allow him to train more great apprentices to serve RedwoodClan (he looks down on lazy warriors and apprentices). He believes that becoming close with the other leaders, deputies, and medicine cats is beneficial for tactical purposes, especially for maintaining peace or having allies during war. These positive attributes of his will help him be an efficient deputy.
What is your character's leadership style?:
Dogear is not a very emotional cat. Therefore, his main focus is usually on how best he and his Clanmates could serve the Clan. This would take the form of him mentoring apprentices, being very involved in assessing apprentices, organizing and going on frequent patrols, and being fairly strict on being sure that everyone does their part. He does not particularly like those in RedwoodClan that are lazy or like to goof off. He would be sure that everyone keeps their battle skills sharp, not because he’s afraid of a war, but because all RedwoodClan warriors should be prepared to fight for and defend their Clan at any moment. Hunting skills are equally as important, as the Clan has to be fed. He takes the warrior code to heart (though he is indifferent to the existence of StarClan) and is currently much more focused on bettering the Clan than he is on becoming closer to his Clanmates.
Regarding Finchstar, Dogear is similar to him in that he also wants to help any cat who’s in trouble and is fiercely loyal. However, Dogear is less indecisive and passive. He is strict and adamant about the things he is passionate about (serving RedwoodClan). He is also more logical and has a naturally curious and analytical mind. That being said, he will support Finchstar and encourage him forward lest they find something they disagree on. Dogear may want to do things differently, especially with battles and war.
How does your character view the other RedwoodClan High Position characters?
Dogear thinks that Finchstar is a good, genuine leader through and through, just that he could be more confident in his decisions. He will try to help him become more confident. They could possibly disagree on how to go about wars and battles or patrols and apprentice training, and I’m not sure how receptive Finchstar will be to Dogear’s push for more strictness regarding patrols, training, and serving the Clan in general. Dogear will definitely be close to Finchstar, but only close enough to better the Clan. He will not be close emotionally.
Dogear thinks that Icesong was a good deputy and approved of her kind nature and unwavering beliefs. However, Dogear is not a pacifist. He is conflicted on how he feels about her choice to step down and join the Tunnelers, but he believes that some cats must follow their own paths.
Dogear does not have a whole lot to say about Asterstorm, but believes that she has the potential to be a great medicine cat. He worries about how she and the Clan will get on now that Orchidshade is gone. He believes that the Clan needs a good medicine cat, especially now that they are approaching leaf-fall and leaf-bare. He’s a little suspicious about her. He will get her insight on whatever he needs, but aside from that he probably will not be very close to her.
What is your character's vision and/or goals for RedwoodClan in arc 2?
Dogear thinks that RedwoodClan is strong and showed that with how they fought during the recent war. He believes that Finchstar offering aid to the other Clans during the flood but going about it in a steadfast way is good also– he does not want RedwoodClan to seem like pushovers. They can provide aid, but they will not be taken advantage of. Dogear wants RedwoodClan to continue becoming more steadfast and strong and continue to be a Clan that offers aid where it’s needed. He thinks that the Clans can’t exist without each other and that it is beneficial for all of them to work together, especially in times of need.
Dogear believes that he will make RedwoodClan stronger through his stricter patrols and training, so that every warrior can be stronger and more helpful to their Clanmates. He thinks strongly that they need to be wary of ThistleClan, especially after they have borrowed territory from RedwoodClan. They need to keep a close eye on the bearstones and that border for stray ThistleClan scents after they move back into their own territory. With LichenClan, he thinks that they don’t need to be worried about them as much now that Minnowstar has been gone; he thinks LichenClan has enough trouble within their own Clan. Dogear thinks that they need to be wary of the Tribe, though, solely because they're something new and he doesn’t want them to pose a danger to RedwoodClan. He thinks they seem to be ok so far though.
Regarding outsiders and the Tunnelers, Dogear has a soft spot for them, as he himself used to be a loner before joining RedwoodClan. He thinks that rogues are dangerous and they need to be wary of them, but the average loner won’t do the Clan any harm. He thinks the Tunnelers are great and have good intentions, and will be good as a spot of neutrality for the Clans. He is fine with taking in cats, especially if they’re down on their luck and have good intentions. He may get upset if a cat isn’t allowed to join the Clan because he believes that being in a Clan is a lot better than being a loner and surviving on your own– he knows from experience.

Deputy Sample:
"Ah, the mind of a militant too." Tigerpool paused from grooming and smiled that pearly, toothy grin. Bouncefire continued. He spoke of dreams, of cycles, and spiritual things that were far greater timelines than the tabby could fathom. There was a sinking feeling in his chest as Tigerpool gazed again back towards the waters. They had seemed so infinite, and now.... now a tom was in front him with a passionate sermon of life, rebirth, destruction, and it's a infinite whirl. Then, with a lofty paw with such haste as if LichenClan was at their very borders, Bouncefire stomped. A valiant yowl hooted. He talked about fantasies almost as vastly large and perplexing as the islands, their island, he described.
Tigerpool watched with a slight curl of amusement, nodding his head intuitively with the valiant musings of Bouncefire's philosophies. Then, Bouncefire pressed. He praised and pressed, body seeming to inch closer and room filled with the warmth — the tangible excitement, of it all. "Me?" Tigerpool echoed with the awkward twist of his jowls. Did he agree? Well, in a lot of ways, he had. But Tigerpool was not the most vocal in politics. Those days were long retired. His opinions often did more harm than good. A follower by heart, he didn't trust his instincts to sway the waters, and if it did, it was from reserves of his own busted, emotional dams.
"Ohhhhhhh, I don't know," Finally Tigerpool mused and the manner in which he was considering the thoughts rode on the delay within his tone. "RedwoodClan is the best." He agreed. "And, we all follow the warrior code, so I suppose it would be better if all the clans were a little bit more…or even, a lot more like us. But." He paused, pursing his maw once again in that contemplative state. But Bouncefire kept rolling. Tigerpool had walked in on a little kindled ember. It transmuted to a bouncing flame, caught some parched organics, and now the fire roared.
Me.... a hero? a .... legend? and it puzzled Tigerpool to hear that a cat thought of him this highly. Though inside, similar to how he felt when his children's eyes marbled dazzling swirls to glean his return from patrols, home, or even battles, his heart was warm.
Tigerpool knew he was strong and as courteous as they were, these exaggerations were quite funny. In the glow which danced upon his comrade's eyes Tigerpool now saw that despite how they could be parallel in stature and stare, he himself had many moons beneath his pelt. These moons were the weight that stopped his idealistic fantasies. Though, Tigerpool was neither much one for imagination either.
But there was a maturity to Tigerpool's perspective he had never reasonably considered; he had never felt quite his age. At sixty-six moons, Tigerpool was seasoned. It wasn't only the collection of numbers but memories he pulled with him through the leaf-bares. The senior warrior had had many failures and arguably more successes (he was alive right?), trained multiple apprentices, had a hot mate, a flourishing family, and was still in a competitive physique. In many ways, he felt that only now had he reached his prime. This was not true. Physically, Tigerpool's peak had ended. Now, it was three times the arduous effort to maintain the same status quo of a cat in his late 20's. But where quickness of reflexes and stamina waned, he did have experience on his side.
"I do agree with you Bouncefire. I'm tired of our clan always being on the defense." And he even dared sigh at that notion, and a conversation that was generally light-hearted in his nature did not weigh too hard, but there was a truth even to the surface of his tellings. "I don't care for the other clans. I don't want to share a den with fish breaths and pine dusters. But maybe... RedwoodClan's urhm... prowess could just, flex on the other clans." He nodded. "Keep them in line and remind them what they have forgotten. We're clan cats for Starclan's sake, ya'know? We have the code to keep us together."
Why does your character want to become RedwoodClan's deputy?:
Plot twist! He doesn't!! Tigerpool is terrified of leadership roles that have clan-wide implications and responsibility. A surprisingly emotional tom, Tigerpool struggles with the consequences of his actions. Though over time as a senior warrior he's had to step up and lead patrols and by example, he prefers to sit in a supporting roll. If Finchstar chooses Tigerpool as deputy, Tigerpool will initial have a lot of internal conflict but the people pleasing, harmonious wants of the tom will take it with grace. Behind the scenes, inner turmoil starts as he grapples with this new normal.
What accomplishments (ICly) has your character achieved to demonstrate their ability to become deputy?:
Tigerpool is a senior warrior that has existed since Green-leaf 00. During this time he accomplished many feats. including fighting in every major battle, earning 10 stats, and a battle buddy. Tigerpool has 49 completed threads. Currently, Tigerpool's bio is up to date!
In the clan, Tigerpool has a charismatic reputation for his goofy warmth and protective nature. He awarded me the "A Friend to All" pixel. Tigerpool has roleplayed with many cats in the clan acting as a mentor to comrades and actual mentor to multiple cats including: Ravenfeather, Lionpaw (RIP), and Berrypaw.
As a father, Tigerpool also has positive relationships with all his children and connections to those adjacent. Tigerpool's positive reputation and legend as a fighter will make the downfall of his character more enticing.
What is your character's leadership style?:
Tigerpool will start his new leadership by exploring multiple styles and strategies. This lack of consistency will result in contradictory behavior that shakes the stability of clan. Though Tigerpool has experience with a myriad of different apprentice learning styles, the knowledge and tools won't translate. Tigerpool will struggle, often going head to head with other warriors. Used to being a friend or pal when dealing with cats at his equal "level" in power dynamics, when comrades begin pushing boundaries the lack of experience and frustrations with his new roll, will result in Tigerpool either being walked over, or lashing out.
Over time, he will begin unifying the different perspectives and personalities of his clan under nationalism. At the end of the war, Tigerpool had a conversation with Bouncefire who acted as a foil to his more tame, nationalistic views. Tigerpool is more militant than liberal minded and will lean hard into the warrior code as a guideline to ground his alignment. When Finchstar may be kind and considerate, Tigerpool's warmth is conserved for comrades alone. As deputy, Tigerpool will show blatant hostility towards outsiders, half-bloods, other clans, and betrayers of the code. At some points, he may be pushed to challenge his values and go to cruel lengths. Tigerpool will begin fighting with claws unsheathed, drawing blood, and even pushed to kill.
Although Tigerpool's experience has made him less impulsive, he is still hasty compared to the average senior warrior. When faced with pressure, Tigerpool will make quick calls based on intuition or deep emotional charge. Some will promise victory, others will hurt them. Tigerpool does not want to be the hero but will recklessly put himself at risk for the benefit of his clan. I do not see Tigerpool ever becoming leader, but retiring early in the elders den due to a severe injury, or a casualty of battle.
I hope to lose the warm, friendly version of Tigerpool to a darker, more convoluted side of someone struggling with power and the downfall of its hunger. Friends and family of Tigerpool will slowly lose the characteristic warmth once familiar as his decisions challenge the values of Redwood Clan and they begin to parallel enemies once despised.
How does your character view the other RedwoodClan High Position characters?
When Tigerpool is first appointed deputy he will be careful not to step on Finchstar's toes; Tigerpool values Finchstar as both a friend and comrade who has earned respect through merit. Tigerpool will be unsure, respectful, and often seek Finchstar for advice. As Tigerpool enriches his taste for power, he will begin challenging Finchstar and harbor resentment over their differences. Their relationship will either be tense, or together they will pave a code-united narrative.
Tigerpool always had a deep respect for Icesong. Although they were not particularly close on a personal level, they had great battle chemistry. Tigerpool will might seek Icesong out for knowledge and support as he navigates life as a deputy.
Generations after he, Tigerpool does not have a developed relationship with Asterstorm. The tabby recognizes the importance of medicine and starclan, and will prioritize keeping herbs stocked and wounds treated quickly. As time goes on, he may prioritize the vision of the clan and battle over individual needs. He may twist reported omen's and prophecies to optimistically fulfill wishes of the warrior code but in such a way that his warmth and excitement is overwhelmingly, toxically, supportive.
What is your character's vision and/or goals for RedwoodClan in arc 2?
Tigerpool will initially have no vision or goal for Redwood Clan. He will shadow whatever ideas and thoughts Finchstar has. Over time, his values will develop and he will have strict faith and adherence to the code. Tigerpool will prioritize Redwood Clan over other clans, and begin using violations of the code like forbidden romances and taking in outsiders as scapegoats for problems that sometimes he created. Though his punishments will not be systematically cruel, he may justify impulsive decisions and outbursts with nationalistic views, encouraging others to unite under Redwood Clan's visions. Tigerpool will want to expand territory into either, part of the Lichen Clan shoreline or the birchwood forest. If we want tension with Thistleclan, he would try to claim Owl Tree but strategically it doesn't make as much sense because of the creek dividing them.
Since Arc 1, Tigerpool thought it was wrong that Finchstar prioritized aiding the tribe, leaving Redwood Clan without a leader, medicine cat, and senior warrior and open to attack. Thinking that now the tribe is indebted to them, Tigerpool will have no interest in continuing a relationship with the tribe unless it's goal is to push Redwood Clan's agenda.
Name: Maxx Experience: Orchidshade on TA, never missed a HU post!! Character Name: Fayre Position Desired: RWC Deputy
Deputy Sample:
It was the sunrise after Fayre was chosen. She awoke with the first snaps of dawn, though she never slept that night. "Ruefeather, are you awake?" Whispered Fayre, Dapplekit sleeping in the crux of their bellies. His ear flicked in response, and she caught his gaze. Fayre exhaled a sheepish breath. She had just stepped into the blessing of motherhood, and now the clouds showered her in newfound responsibility.
As deputy Fayre was in charge of seeing through Finchstar's vision. If he was the heart, she was the veins calculating where the blood would go, each limb would extend, and protecting the hearth of their vitals. Dottingly she looked to Dapplekit, whose tiny paws outstretched, claws whisker thin kneading into the air. Her brow sloped. Ruefeather was watching. With a weak smile, she turned towards him, and it lightened. It'll be OK. Fayre told herself. I will organize all the patrols, run the mid-day, check in with the reports, and return by dusk. Dusk, she determined, would be reserved for the last morsels of daylight to honor her daughter's days intently. Dapplekit's thoughts and feelings, her growth and accomplishments, Fayre would be there, and together they'd spend into the sunset sharing tongues. Then, to Finchstar's den, she'd meet where they'd reflect on the merits of their day. The moon hanging high in the sky, to Ruefeather's side, she'd join. It'd take a bit of adjustment but...
"I can do this." Fayre whispered to Ruefeather. Her chin was canted as she traced the last flecks of stars. It wasn't as if he doubted her. "I am used to being always on the move, but now, instead of danger, it'll be a sense of purpose." She continued, but Ruefeather could see the soft melancholy which ate her. Of course, she would be sad to spend less time with Ruefeather and Dapplekit. But, Fayre knew it was natural. She would still be there, and now, she'd be responsible for all she loved: Redwood Clan, her family.
Fayre wasn't always accepted. Even now, she had her doubts. With the previous rogue first joined Redwood Clan skeptical eyes taunted whispers on the sidelines, and microaggressions plagued her from asserting themselves at the fresh-kill pile to "accidental" body checks on patrols. All of course, with that signature Redwood style, teeth smiling, warmth bundling their cheeks. Fayre was no mouse brain. She knew how to read between the lines. Just like the hidden meanings behind each nuance of language, she knew that the insecurity and hate within oneself perpetuated the pain of another. They loathed not her but their inability to cope with her role in this space. A space, which every willing cat was welcome.
Finchstar knew this. He paved a place for her within the clan, and in turn, she would serve even those who met her with hostile eyes. Fayre would show them what capturing the altruism that shone in Redwood Clan's spirit meant. To live by example was her mantra.
Pushing the flats of her head against Ruefeather, Fayre purred. Craftily, she wiggled herself from Dapplekit, watching her slump into Ruefeather's chest and left.
"Good morning, crew." Mewed Fayre. There was a brightness to her eyes. She had to crane her neck to level with many of the cats. "OK, we're going to do things a little differently today. The other clans are returning home, but we don't want them to feel too comfortable! That's why I gathered a few more faces." They don't think I'm weak, right? And, that I need so much support.... No, that's...that's ridiculous. "I want us to split into two groups of hunting patrols. Hunt along our borders. Ignoring the higher lands, team one is going to take the route towards bear stones, team two towards the graveyard. If you don't run into trouble, I want you to stage a border scuffle by the time you cross paths." Though a different gander shifted from each face, they seemed to catch the gist of it. "Patrol 1, Sedgeshadow will take Barkheart, Waspsong, Fawnbriar, Coldnose, and Blizzardpaw. Patrol 2, Loudstorm, you have Windstorm, Redcloud, Embersky, Trilliumstorm, and Berrypaw. I look forward to your return."
Why does your character want to become RedwoodClan's deputy?:
Fayre doesn't necessarily want to become Redwood Clan's deputy, but she finds the nomination the GREATEST honor. The previous rogue will be absolutely bewildered and humbled by the selection. Though she will feel a bit lost, and grapple with a bit of imposter syndrome (a normal amount, nothing huge!), Fayre will take her deputy duties seriously. As deputy, Fayre will bring some unconventional spice.
What accomplishments (ICly) has your character achieved to demonstrate their ability to become deputy?:
As a former rogue, Fayre has a lot of intel on the other clan's territories, especially Thistle Clan. She also has connections to rogues like Shiver, Poppy's (formally Lily's), gang, and knowledge of two-leg objects.
Currently Fayre has 14 completed threads. Though she is one of my less active characters, and newer relative to others, she has closed her intended arcs with reliable timing! I am excited for an opportunity to play and develop her more.
What is your character's leadership style?:
Initially, Fayre will feel like a deer in headlights. She'll be composed and graceful on the outside at her best, and a bit frantic at her worst. During her first moons as deputy Fayre will lean heavily on experienced friends and other HU's for support. Though sometimes she'll wonder why Finchstar chose her for this role, and if she's really the best, she will not openly doubt herself to anyone. But, she'll seek others often for advice, inspired to bounce off ideas and passionately thrilled by her new job.
Fayre advocates for working smarter than harder. Fayre is not lazy but any means! But, she is all about finding tips, tricks, and ways to make things more efficient. Fayre is a practical she-cat who prioritizes solutions. She is interested in coordinating unique battle, herb gathering, and hunting patrols. The ginger and white she-cat is also very invested in Redwood Clan customs and lore, so she would travel to the tunnels to learn more about their heritage and try to honor their essence when exploring structural opportunities.
As deputy, Fayre will always want to help those in need. Because of the kindness and altruism they extended to her she will feel the obligation to pay forward these practices. Fayre will work tirelessly to ensure that they can always take in another mouth, share herbs, and be there for support — even if it's for other clans. This strategy might cause tension, as Fayre sticks by her heart and truly believes she has the brain to make everything work and limit the world's suffering. It is an interesting mix of idealism, practical nature, and faith in her capabilities. She will not accept loss, which may cause tension.
Fayre is kind, fair, and consistent. She believes in both Starclan and the warrior code. When it comes to punishment and upholding boundaries, cats will know that she holds herself and others to high standards but will always give cats the benefit of the doubt. She always believes in each individual's best, even when they have doubted her rogue heritage. Fayre will always promote the idea of chosen paths in life, decisions, and consequences. Yet these consequences will not be punitive in nature but based on the laws they operate under as a rubric: the warrior code and their faith to Starclan.
There is potential for tension between Fayre and Finchstar though I believe they will be a mostly harmonious duo. Fayre's consistency can lead to inflexibility. Her will to help rogues, loners, the tribe, and other clans could stretch Redwood Clan too thin, and hurt Redwood Clan in the long run. Having rogue heritage, Fayre may struggle to gain the trust and support of older warriors. Fayre also struggles with a fake-it-till-you-make-it attitude which during confrontation, she is evasive and in extreme cases, keep secrets and lie. At the very least, she has a tendency to withhold information. All these flaws can further play into the struggles of rogue heritage and what it means to be "Redwood Clan" blood.
How does your character view the other RedwoodClan High Position characters?
Fayre will have a deep respect for Finchstar. In many ways, she idolizes the tom. However, Fayre will also stand by her ideals and if she disagrees with Finchstar. I want Fayre and Finchstar to be friends even when it is difficult. Despite inevitable differences and tension, I want them to be supportive of one another because ultimately, Fayre respects Finchstar and feels indebted to his kindness.
I want Fayre and Asterstorm to develop a very close relationship. Fayre is not judgmental of cats with difficult pasts, and will see a lot of strength in Asterstorm. Fayre and Asterstorm can bond over how they fell into their roles as deputy and medicine cat. I honestly feel like Asterstorm will be the cat that Fayre is the most vulnerable with, confiding information and her backstory to Asterstorm, confiding things that she may not have told Finchstar or really dove deeply into with Ruefeather.
Like my application with Tigerpool, I want Fayre to seek Icesong out for advice! However, this tone will be different. Fayre will feel much more mystified by Icesong's presence. She will want to find out the history of Redwood Clan and more about the ancient clans and their culture. Using this information, Fayre will come back and try to brainstorm new, proactive ways to form Redwood Clan patrols and unify moral.
Towards the tribe, Fayre will be intrigued and think of them as no more different than another clan. She will want to extend aid and partnership to them as much, if not more than any of the clans because of her negative experiences with Lichen Clan and Thistle Clan. Even if she wants to aid the other clans from suffering and hardship, she doesn't necessarily want to find political allies in them. Her best potential relationship is with the tribe and I see her personality meshing well with Fog's.
What is your character's vision and/or goals for RedwoodClan in arc 2?
Fayre's vision for arc 2 is to be harmonious and altruistic. Yet, if pushed too far or frightful that Redwood Clan is taken advantage of, she will encourage them to be formidable foes. Redwood Clan's strength rest in their kindness and unity, and that is never to be toyed with. At least, these are Fayre's aspirations... But not necessarily how it'll go down :-)
Idealistically, cats of Redwood Clan will grow uncomfortable with the change and skeptic of her new-age liberal minded way of running things. Why is this newbie rogue telling us what to do? Is she even qualified? She just got here! Though she adheres to Starclan and the warrior code, her proactiveness could be seen as annoying and she will fall under scrutiny by more traditional and classic Redwood Clanners. Perhaps there could be tension of those supporting Fayre when she makes mistakes out of ignorance due to her rogue heritage and more scrutiny against outsiders, refugees, and mixed blood cats can begin.
An arc where Fayre has to prove herself would be cliche but a classic tale. Yet, I want this to be done with the support and strength of other misfit, non conventional cats of Redwood Clan. Pacifists, refugees, and mixed-bloods can unite to show why the chosen unity of Redwood Clan and their altruism enriches their strength.
I definitely want to see a head to head with Poppy and her gang. As sisters gone sour with pre-existing beef, it would be amazing to see a feud between Poppy's gang and Fayre's patrols.
Name: Aria Experience:Deputy and MCA on different sites Character Name:Oaktalon Position Desired: Redwoodclan Deputy Deputy Sample: Oaktalon frowned looked down on returning border patrol. They came back into camp beaten and weakened like a lopsided badger. How shamefully but at the same time concerning. The deputy keep his eyes on his warriors- his family while the spoke of the recently spat against Thistleclan. Of course the rogue-like clan were picking their noses were they don't belong. He remember when Milkblaze was killed. No matter what other say none of the others clan could be trusted. "Dappleshade, Milkfeather, Heathertail. Head over to Asterstorm right now and report back to me when you done."
He looked towards curlycloud and the walked into separate camp part of the camp. Not only good friend of Finchstar he confined in her what he could in others. "Hello, my dear. It's just as I expected. Thistleclan is pushing and we going to have to start pushing back. I am not a tom of war...not like I used to be however it may have to rear it's ugly head if Stagstar keeps pressing our hospitality." He pressed his mate fur knowing how much she hated it. Being deputy was a change he never expected however he honored Icesong's choice. He would make Redwoodclan would glorious in her place. "I will speak with Finchstar about up the patrol and speaking on it in the next gathering. I don't what or when but we will not follow the same mistakes and failures we had with lichenclan."
Why does your character want to become RedwoodClan's deputy?: Oaktalon being selected as deputy would come as a shock but he knew that Icesong wasn't the same she-cat she once was. He has gone through almost the same changes. They both suffered with lost of friends and family. The moment he gotten the rank he vowed to make Redwoodclan better than every before. He will controls his deputyship instead of leading the rank control him. To him, it's an important but it will not change who he is and what he aiming for. He's ambitious nature resurfacing however might turn him and his pride into a double edged-sword.
What is your character's leadership style?: Oaktalon is not Finchstar he can't never be as benevolent his leader but for that he had come to respect him for. They will never complete see eye to eye but butt head so much. Oaktalon gives him "tough love" being blunt honest with his leader on what he feels is best or disagrees. Oaktalon priority is make sure the next generation is able to hold her own as while the war with Lichenclan is over with Thistleclan being nosy.
Oaktalon will push for redwoodclan to be prepared for anything. However due the issues/insecurity he had with his previous and now dead apprentice parsnippetal. Oaktalon will push for council with senior warriors on how best to handle mentorships as whole and to help cover his faults. With the clan only one medicine cat with basic teaching now that orchidshade is gone/dead. Redwoodclan is vulnerable and Thistleclan might take it a sign to strike. He want Redwoodclan needs to be able to handle matter themselves instead of relying on Thistleclan or other outside party for held. He doesn't want to completely shut out outsiders as some of them have become noteworthy powerful and capable individuals but from now they will be tested and if they doesn't pass they can't stay.
How does your character view the other RedwoodClan High Position characters?
Redwoodclan High-ranks: Finchstar and Asterstorm are very good cats. He will reply on them more than the others way around. Oaktalon understand Asterstorm will need more time to adjust to being the sole medicine cat of the clan among the death that may come with. He will support maybe as sort of uncle/brotherly role in the place of what gorseflame was to her.
Finchstar will fine Oaktalon to be both brash but meaning well. Oaktalon wants is best for their clan even it meaning against Finchstar more harmonious ways. Well in other I can see them coming an to understand since Oaktalon knows Finchstar's new family he might be persuaded to push towards his side if needed.
Lichenclan High-ranks: Oaktalon can't forget the suffering Lichenclan has done . He respected Yarrowstar however anything to do with Lichenclan he takes with a gain of salt especially with the recent death of Milkblaze by their hands he has all the more reasons to be wary. He will never completely trust them but will never be completely against allying if it means biting a bull. He will turn the side eye. Briarfall might be the one he presay likes given without her and other rebels given off in the war things may not have turned out the way they have.
Thistleclan High-ranks: Stagstar and Firfoot want is best for their clans however he knows powerful ambition when he see it. Thievingstar was bad enough however the next bullhead leader might be even more worse then him. Thistleclan needs to be watched maybe even taken down a pegs if needed be. Shadepool is likely the most level-headed of the lot alongside Meadowpaw. I don't think he could dislikes them.
What is your character's vision and/or goals for RedwoodClan in arc 2? Redwoodclan has grown post-war they have a successful few months of their lives being at peace. They have comfort each other, mourned, and to some extend let go. Now the tides are changing! Oaktalon wanted Redwoodclan to stand on it's own two paws by any means necessary. He feels that the victory over Lichenclan wasn't a real one. They had to help at every angle to get anything done. They were babied it's unaccepted. He's own ambitious was quenched due the end to the war now that quench all but now resurfaces in full forces. He will need to kept in check him or be lost to the fire.
While Oaktalon wants to the community aspect of the clan to remain but he will push his clanmates towards being to retaliate and win. No longer with Redwoodclan seem like outsiders friendly clan that they are known to be but a close-knit family ready to fight together at a moment's notice.
Name: Captain Experience: RWC deputy for 2+ years Character Name:Dapplepaw Position Desired: RWC MCA Medicine Cat Apprentice Sample:
Dapplepaw
Hidden within an old redwood stump was a den of horrors. Woven moss and lichen hung over the entrance, swaying slightly in the wind. Outside cats stayed far away from the den, a sickly sweet smell of herbs and illness kept them away. But the small blue tabby inside wasn’t so lucky. Thymepaw was sat in a small nest of moss. Dapplepaw urged her to wait as she turned back to the herb stores. Groves in the wooden walls held an assortment of herbs. Picking up a large leaf, Dapplepaw began to examine the wares. She started with a wide chervil leaf, then picked up purple-blue brownwort and a few other herbs that caught her attention. Dapplepaw held the collection carefully. She sliced a small slit in on the end of the leaf and then weaved through the stem. Once the stem was through, she bent it to ensure it stayed closed. Finally, Dapplepaw returned to her patient. She held out the small leaf bundle to Thymepaw and smiled.
“One stomach-ache cure.” She said. “Come on, give it a try.”
It was hard to tell what was wrapped inside of the leaf. A few sprigs of lavender stuck out, and was that grass? The whole thing was dipped in honey which was now dripping onto the floor in large globs. It smelled sickly sweet, like rotting fruit. Dapplepaw pressed it into Thymepaw’s paws and waited for her to swallow it. As soon as Thymepaw did, the she-cat’s face went green and she ran off to the corner of the room.
The sound of dry-heaving was not a deterrent, and Dapplepaw immediately headed after Thymepaw. She sniffed and poked Thymepaw’s side. “How do you feel? Was it the lavender? Hmm or maybe not enough honey…”
Why does your character want to become RedwoodClan's medicine cat?: Dapplepaw’s first memories are outings with her adoptive father as a kit to pick herbs and learning from him their uses. Her second memories are learning strange rogue skills (building traps, dens, etc.) from her adoptive mother. She is innately curious about the world around her and is always trying to learn how things work. She loves learning. That’s why she’s drawn to herbs and their fascinating uses. She’s curious about why they can heal wounds and what more they can do. As an apprentice, Dapplepaw started to use what her father had taught her about herbs to begin creating her own concoctions.
A few moons into her apprenticeship, and it isn’t going so well for little Dapple. Born runty and weak, Dapplepaw still hasn’t caught up to her peers. She’s uncoordinated and struggles to get her body to work the way she wants. She tries to apply reason and logic to understand how fighting and hunting works But no amount of thinking will replace the skill she lacks. Dapplepaw has just started to get frustrated with herself and the world around her. Nothing is working out for her. So the chance to become a medicine cat apprentice is her golden ticket. How does becoming a medicine cat fit into your character's personal story/arc?: Dapplepaw's current arc is her struggle to keep up with her peers and her insecurity about not being born into the clan.
Her becoming a medicine cat apprentice will only put the spotlight on her and her origins as a rogue kit. She’ll be forced to confront it as it becomes a part of her daily life. Some cats may not trust her. Refuse to get treated by her strange methods and go to Asterstorm instead.
With her training struggles, this is her way out, a perfect chance to do something she’s good at. And at first, everything will go smoothly. Dapplepaw already has knowledge of herbs and their uses thanks to Ruefeather’s lessons, and what she doesn’t know Dapplepaw will pick up quickly. She’s got a fantastic memory and is eager to learn. Everything is perfect. That is until she attends her first half-moon gathering.
Dapplepaw’s current arc is about learning to overcome her struggles. Despite being smart, there are some things that won’t come easily to her. I plan to tackle themes of imposter syndrome with her and the feeling of never being good enough. By becoming a medicine cat apprentice, Dapplepaw will have a false sense of security. After failing as a warrior apprentice, she found her calling as a medicine cat. But she’s forgotten one important part of her job: StarClan.
I’d like her to struggle to connect with StarClan and have that be her major stepping stone in her arc. No amount of study will allow her to speak with StarClan, and Dapplepaw will have to come to terms with that and accept that sometimes she’ll need to ask for help. In the end, she’ll learn to let go, to not think for a second and put her faith in her ancestors. Then finally she’ll reach them. Dapplepaw’s arc and how it can tie into the current site plot: From what I’ve seen of the site plot so far, it seems as though the medicine cats are losing their ties to StarClan and are getting influenced by the Dark Forest. Dapplepaw being unable to speak to StarClan fits perfectly with this. At her first meeting, she could hear nothing or just a few mumbled words. Most of her inability to connect is her own mental blockers, but I can see it tying into a clan that’s getting cut off from their ancestors.
Some potential plots from this are: Dapplepaw lying or pretending she can hear her ancestor’s words, she may lead the clan astray with false prophecies. She gets frustrated and tries to fix her problem alone. And if our beloved Lilacmist finds out and offers to help? Dapplepaw won’t be able to turn her down.
A big part of Dapplepaw is her heritage. At the moment she and the clan believe her to be a rogue kit, abandoned in the clan’s territory. And while she was raised by Ruefeather, she was also raised by Fayre, a former rogue. With the clan’s growing divide on accepting outsiders, Dapplepaw becoming a medicine cat apprentice will only fuel that fire. Can her clanmates trust her to heal them? They may fear her turning on them.
And if her true half-ThistleClan heritage comes out? Her clanmates may not trust her to protect them in a fight against ThistleClan.
Finally, Dapplepaw will be a bit of a scientist. She won’t be constrained by traditional medicine cat remedies, and will often want to experiment with new herbs or combinations of herbs. She’ll go to the ends of the island to seek out new flowers to use. On a large scale, Dapplepaw can cause a major incident in the clan and get her clanmates sick. On a smaller scale, cats can come and go visit her, sometimes getting caught up in her wicked experiments. How does your character view StarClan and the Dark Forest?: Dapplepaw doesn’t have a strong belief in StarClan. She knows the stories and believes they are real, but she’s never thought much about them. This will change when she becomes a medicine cat apprentice. Dapplepaw will take a different approach to her relationship with her ancestors and try to rationalize their existence. She’ll question how they work. Do they need to eat? How do they know the future? Trying to explain how StarClan works will put a strain on her connection with them. She won’t be able to get the same vivid dreams as her peers, and even if she does, Dapplepaw won’t know what’s from StarClan and what’s just a dream. To fully connect them, it will take time.
But who knows if StarClan will be able to reach her or time, or if the Dark Forest will get to her first. How does your character view the other RedwoodClan High Position characters?
Finchstar: Finchstar is a cat Dapplepaw would have seen a lot growing up. She was raised beside his own kits and Dapplepaw considers Violetpaw and Thymepaw to be her sisters. The three of them are very close and often get into trouble together. Dapplepaw sees Finchstar more like an uncle. She likes him, doesn’t always take him too seriously and respects him as the leader of their clan. She won’t take her relationship as his spiritual guide too seriously and I don’t see him being able to confide in her. Instead, she’ll be around to give him a little joy in his life, tease him, and sometimes get him to try a new lavender herb mix.
Tigerpool: Tigerpool has begun to push back on taking in new outsiders, and is skeptical of their intentions. Dapplepaw was lucky enough to join before this, but I can imagine he might still question her loyalty. She’s a strange cat who likes to break the limits of the rules and do rogue things (like building traps, etc.) I can see their relationship being very tense. On her side of things, Dapplepaw is afraid of Tigerpool and might lie to him to make him go away.
Asterstorm: Asterstorm was happily a warrior before she was chosen by StarClan, and Dapplepaw is the complete opposite. Dapplepaw wanted to become a medicine cat apprentice and can’t understand why Asterstorm was so sad to give up her life and mate. Asterstorm hasn’t been a medicine cat for very long and is still learning from the others. I imagine Dapplepaw showing up already knowing her herbs and being a fast learner will cause some insecurity. Their relationship will be a bit tense. They may fight over why Asterstorm is sad about losing her mate. And don’t get me started on Dapplepaw wanting to experiment. She’ll try random plants just to see what they do or prescribe different herbs than what she was taught. She’ll drive Asterstorm crazy. But with time, they’ll learn to love each other.
Shadepool & Meadowpaw: Despite the strained relationship between their clans, Dapplepaw will want to spend time with the ThistleClan medicine cats. She’ll constantly be pestering them with questions and (plot-willing) wander into camp to say hi. Dapplepaw will be a source of joy and positivity for Shadepool, and she’ll be a friend to Meadowpaw.
Lilacmist: Dapplepaw will really look up to Lilacmist. As the most recent medicine cat apprentice to get their full name, Dapplepaw will try to learn as much as she can from her. Their relationship may take a more sinister turn as Dapplepaw struggles to connect to StarClan and Lilacmist provides the perfect solution. I can see Lilacmist happening upon Dapplepaw at the apprentice’s lowest moment and offering to help guide her in all things spiritual. With the two missing medicine cats (Orchid & Briar), how does your character feel about becoming an MC?? Dapplepaw is saddened by Orchidshade disappearing, and I think hearing of Briarfall going missing will make her worry more. She’ll be paranoid about the same happening to her but will put on a happy face and pretend all is well. Dapplepaw will dive into her studies and focus on them instead of the looming dread. This is her chance to be a medicine cat, she can’t let it go just because she’s scared! I can see some interesting threads between her and her parents with them worrying for her and Dapplepaw pretending to be fine.
