The Apostles is a warrior cats roleplay based in northern Wisconsin. On Lake Superior, the wild cats have made the Apostle Islands their home. It is on these islands - Rocky Island and South Twin Island - that the clan and tribe cats have lived in a peace and harmony that ebbs and flows with the tide.
But as the tides turn, so does the truce that binds them to one another; and as the water raises, a darkness follows, an evil that will end in bloodshed and violence.
IC Sample: The morning was cool. Fog still hung in the air, covering the forest floor. This caused drops of water to form on Talons feet but he didn't care. He liked the feel of it, that is when he could through his thick fur. As he looked around, he opened his mouth to take in the scents of the forest. He could smell decaying leaves with a hint of moss. But most importantly he caught the scent of what he was looking for, an intruder. He signaled with his tail to his patrol to approach. "Is it him?" Asked his brother Falcon Who Watches All. Talon shook his head. The tom let out a grunt of relief.
The last thing his patrol needed to was to find someone that dangerous. "It's just a wandering kittypet." Talon told them in low tones before changing direction. They would leave this one alone. It smelled like it was terrified. Maybe that would be enough for it to leave their borders. He left a few scent markers to show that this place was inhabited, and that they should leave. "They are far enough near the border, this should be enough to deter them." he thought to himself.
They continued their patrol. The most they found were abandoned fox holes and other animal nests. They also picked up the scent of another cat. The one they were out here for. Talon lowered himself to the ground, signalling to the others to do so as well. He slowly approached the spot that the scent was strongest. Upon doing so, he saw a grisly scene before him. Two cats, dead. "I want you to calmly turn around and run. The enemy is close, but I am unsure of how close. We must return to camp and warn Creek."
Name: Vera Experience: I have held very many high positions with Warriors sites throughout my years roleplaying (too many to count actually). I've mostly played leaders and medicine cats as well as a few medicine cat apprentices. I don't believe I've ever actually played a deputy before oddly enough. I've had my about three to four Warriors sites myself, with one running just shy of an entire decade. Character Name: Icepaw Character Application:Icepaw Position Desired: LichenClan Medicine Cat Apprentice IC Sample:
Breathe was coming in and out at a steady pace, the chilly morning causing it to be visible like a fog covering the grass. A white paw stepped into a particularly muddy patch on the ground, sinking slightly as a tom shifted his weight as he moved through the grass. His paws moved swiftly as he picked up his pace, his breathe became quickened, his heart racing. Within seconds, Icefall was racing through the grass, mud splattered all over his pure white fur. The medicine cat payed no attention to the staining of his coat though as a sense of urgency surged through his entire being.
Icefall continued to run, racing further and further until he felt like his heart would burst out of his chest. He was gasping for breath now as he screamed, "No! I have to... I have to... I can't..." Icefall desperately tried to keep going, the sense of urgency deep within his very bones. Suddenly, the white tom was falling into nothing. Icefall looked to the sky, wondering why StarClan had abandoned him as he screamed. A second passed and he was back on his paws, his pelt perfectly clean and dry once more. Four cats sat before him, their paws glowing in the silver color that indicated they were StarClan cats. They all stared at him, not saying a word. Icefall dipped his head respectfully, waiting to hear what his ancestors had to tell him.
It was several heartbeats later when he realized that the four StarClan cats were not going to speak. He started to ask a question but as soon as he opened his mouth, the four cats faded rapidly away; leaving him in complete darkness. Icefall started to panic when a whisper sounded right next to his left ear, "Stop this before it is too late. Belief must be restored."
Icefall woke with a massive start, gasping for breathe as he did his best to recover from his dream. That sense of urgency was still with him as Icefall got to his paws. He shook his pelt to shake himself further awake. Icefall had not had a dream from StarClan in quite a few moons. This was a bad sign indeed. He had to tell Thievingstar. Now. This was not something to hide from his leader. She must be aware of what StarClan was telling them. But would she even belief him... after all, she knew he had a massive secret that if it ever escaped his mouth; there was a large possibility that he would not only lose his position but might also be banished or exiled from his very home. Icefall hated lying to everyone. But what was he supposed to do? The Clan needed a medicine cat. But they did not need a murderer...
The white tom had to try though. It just was not in him to give up, not when others needed him. His light blue eyes quickly found Thievingstar's den and Icefall wasted no more time in practically flying to her den to tell her the news.

Been rping for about 11 years now! Character Name: Chivepaw Character Application:Chive Position Desired: Redwoodclan Medicine Cat Apprentice IC Sample:
”Chivepaw its going to be alright. You are a great cat. You won’t be bad at being a medicine cat.”
“I’d say you were born for it to be honest!”
Chivepaw frowned at her white tipped paws, her tail tapping the ground beside her paws. Blue eyes flicked up to the starry speckled cats who were speaking to her, and she softly sighed at them. They both exchanged a look between each other, looking back at the apprentice who had her head bowed before them. They sighed, looking back at the young she-cat. They both padded over, one placing a paw on Chivepaw’s back. She glanced up at the star pelted cat, who smiled back at her, bonking their head to hers.
”You will be a very good medicine cat. You have a great mentor, a good clan, and everything will be alright.”
”We promise..” They both faded away, and Chivepaw waited to wake up. But she didn’t. Instead, the world went dark around her, the young apprentice pulling her tail in over her paws. It was eerie. It wasn’t good. She didn’t like how silent it had gotten, how dark it was. Red splashed at her paws, and she reared back, her head snapping up, eyes wide.
Something was near. And it was coming closer
Chivepaw’s head shot up, her chest heaving for breath, her eyes wide as she glanced around. Sunlight filtered over her, just as warm as the last day. Nothing seemed wrong in the slightest. Her heart began to slow down, her expression going from terror to confusion, her brow still tightened as she glanced around the medicine cat den.she tightened her tail to her, trying to remember what had unsettled her so. But the dream was already fading, tendrils of it merely brushing her fur, sending spikes of unease through her, but she was quickly forgetting the details of the disturbance to her sleep. She stood, stretching, before her tail flopped onto her head and she giggled.
It was just a nightmare, she told herself. Just a nightmare. Nothing more.
Oh! Maybe Orchidshade would want some help! She left her nest happily, ready to start the day.

Name: SHEEPISH Experience: none on this site, but i've played leaders, deputies, and medicine cats in the past. Character Name: MINKFUR Character Application:MINKFUR Position Desired: DEPUTY of redwoodclan IC Sample:
dew trickled from a broken elm leaf branch as droplets hit the ground with soft pitter patters remnant of soft kit footfalls. a slivered moon hung high above the tree canopy, barely shining amongst the star-dappled blanket of the night sky. minkfur stared up, able to spot such a masterpiece between the 'v' of two splayed oak branches. what a wondrous place, a beautiful land filled with enchantment and hope. yet her claws scraped against dark clay ground, carving ragged lines into the maimed earth. impatience. it filled her belly like hunger, scraping against her chest desperate for release, and yet she held it back with every gulp, every breath, every unspoken word she wished permission to utter, and yet knew she'd never gain. the beautiful stare turned hard and cold, internal injury rearing up under thick emotional scarring of her battered heart.
how dare they? questioning her, judging her. minkfur - never good enough, always the trouble maker. "not a real clan cat." truth be told, no cat outright said these things, but she knew they thought them. felt them. believed them. no matter what she did, no matter how hard she tried, winning the respect of her peers seemed an impossible task every second of every day. how many pieces of prey must she bring home for redwoodclan to acknowledge her hunting skills? how many battles must she fight to earn their respect and understanding? minkfur remembered when she carried her apprentice name, back at her first gathering. the redwoodclan scent hadn't pierced her coat back then, and her mistress' perfume remained embedded in her skin and stunk like… like a twoleg nest. a thistleclan apprentice made a comment, and a senior warrior had to hold minkpaw back from slashing the cat's muzzle with newly grown claws, as hers were sheared off by her twoleg. it burned, that memory, and the shame she felt remained an emotion she seemed unable to rid.
her only hope seemed climbing the ladder of success, earning the respect of her clan not through deeds or examples, but position of power. if they couldn't offer their love freely, she'd have to require it. minkfur never imagined life as a deputy, or even leader, but desperation sunk its ice-cold talons into her soul where panic remained active. finchstar… a good cat, a kind cat. he liked her. he respected her, at least so she believed. the older tom never brought up minkfur's status as an ex-kittypet, because to him it simply didn't matter. did he even remember? did he even know? that very thought eased minkfur's fury and she looked back up at the sky, serenity now coating her pelt like the warm, leaf-fall breeze. yes, it would be alright. she would survive, and she would find her belonging. mudtooth was wrong. minkfur was a clan cat, even if it took more than proving herself for the rest to believe.
Name: Raven Experience: Leader, deputy, medicine cat on various sites throughout the years since like 2003-2004 or something like that Character Name: Owlfang Character Application: Owlfang Position Desired: ThistleClan Deputy IC Sample:
Anxiety tensed the shoulders of the brown tom as he pushed his way through the undergrowth. Trailing behind him was a trail of youngsters and his mission for the day. Owlfang glanced back at the apprentices and took a deep breath. Today he was meant to be assessing the skills of the Clan's apprentices. It was an important job for the deputy so that he would be able to report back to Thievingstar about the young ThistleClan cat's progress. Still, just him and the apprentices made him apprehensive. He could assess their technical skills just fine, but he wasn't sure he would be so successful if he tried to relate to them or give them advice. Given that, he had still insisted on leading the session alone so he could prove that he didn't need another adult to manage a group of younger cats.
Despite his misgivings, though, he held his head high. No matter what, he had a job to do and his Clanmates were depending on him.Well, maybe that was a little dramatic. But his leader needed to know how training was coming along. The apprentices' mentors needed to know if there were things they didn't realize needed work. The warriors needed to know they could depend on the cats that would one day battle beside them. And the apprentice's could use the encouragement of knowing that they were doing a good job. Some of them might even impress him today. Not that he would know how to let them know though.
Owlfang finally reached the clearing where the assessment would take place and turned to face his group as the young cats fanned out in front of him. "Today you're going to show me how well you fight. After that, on the way home, we will have a hunting contest. The apprentice that catches the most prey on the way back to camp earns a day of rest tomorrow," he announced. Sharp blue eyes scanned the apprentices as he paced a line in front of them. "Pair off," he instructed. "You will fight until one is pinned. Then the winners will fight each other until there is one that remains." Maybe the idea of a tournament would inspire them to try their best today. "And I'll be watching and offering advice as I see fit." He paused, his tail flicking back and forth as he tried to decide what to say next. "You may begin," he finished lamely.
Name: Catalysta Experience: Played leader, deputy, and medicine cat apprentice positions. Character Name: Hawktail Character Application: HAWKTAIL Position Desired: ThistleClan Deputy IC Sample: this thread is intended to show a side of Hawktail not often seen, where she momentarily 'lets go', point being that - on rare occasions - she is capable of that even if it's still colder than most. her thread with Ratwhisker is a good example of how much she cares for the Clan - to the point of letting go of pride/not putting the needs of one before the many - in spite of her very barbed way of putting it to him. Her apprentice training thread shows how she takes steps to make sure a given apprentice is truly ready for any situation. In her border patrol she is quick to evaluate a dangerous situation and take action, although it definitely lacked compassion and, daresay, ethics. It's a slightly tragic example of how logic-oriented she is as opposed to listening to her heart [or the hearts of others]. In any case, she saw a problem and dealt with it immediately in efforts to keep the Clan safe. Here's one of her in-action posts from the October border patrol confronting the fox dam:
Hawktail felt Mintnose come up beside her, the scent of fox blood and vomit on his muzzle. Hawktail's nose wrinkled, but it was hard to differentiate the disgust on her face between the wrinkling of her lips as she bared her teeth at the fox. She hadn't realized that killing the fox kits would have put such a toll on her warriors - and Adderpaw. She glanced behind herself to see where the apprentice was. He was climbing his way out of the fox burrow, a look in his eyes that spoke of his thoughts. Hawktail shrugged this off with a strict thought, Life is tough and it doesn't get easier. If Adderpaw had not learned that yet, well, what better time than now?
"Yes, we have to overwhelm it and keep it away from each other," she pointed out quickly to Mintnose, turning back to the bigger issue before them. Foxes were quick predators, it could seriously injure one of them if they weren't all careful about what they were doing. Speaking of, where was Flowerbite? Right as the thought crossed her mind, a dark shape moved around to the opposite side of the fox. Hawktail hadn't even noticed the tortoiseshell molly, her movements had been so quick and silent. Flowerbite commanded Adderpaw to stay back and, for the moment, Hawktail agreed on that. The apprentice clearly needed a moment to collect himself, but perhaps he could be of some assistance momentarily...
Flowerbite moved in on the fox's face, a bold strategy. Hawktail couldn't say she wasn't both impressed and completely horrified. Flowerbite was putting herself in a very risk position. As the fox turned to snap at the warrior clinging to it, Hawktail charged forward with a swing of her tail to signal for Mintnose to follow suit. The fox's eye caught sight of her charging toward it and, as Hawktail leaped for it, it braced against her. Its jaws gnashed and she hooked her claws into its shoulder. It yelped from the pain of Flowerbite's... bite and Hawktail's claws and, hopefully, whatever Mintnose was doing.
"We need to chase it across the border, we can't let it stay here," she shouted, leaping away right as the fox's jaws clamped shut on the space where she had been. It snapped at her again as she was landing on her feet; she didn't have enough time to react except to flinch. Its teeth snagged the side of her face, and Hawktail yowled in pain as the fox shook her. Her cheek was sliced open. She growled viciously and dug her claws into its face, searching for its eye. Her needle-sharp claws hit their mark and Hawktail cut through its eye with great force. The fox instantly released her with its own cry of pain and Hawktail backed away by a few tail-lengths, the side of her face a mess of blood.
Tail lashing, Hawktail pulled a poker face to mask the searing pain in her cheek. "Adderpaw," she beckoned to the apprentice and spoke quickly, "we need your help. Listen to me. Do not fight it. Stand beside me but not too close; I won't let it get to you, I promise. All you have to do is be intimidating, okay? Don't be afraid," The fox was visibly overwhelmed by the warriors' attacks, and likely put off now that she had injured its eye and the other warriors had given it their own scars to remember them by. She was not going to risk it running off deeper into ThistleClan territory. That put the Clan at risk.
"Mintnose, Flowerbite!" she snarled, "We have to get it across the stream now," They were already right beside it. What they needed to do was simple. "Don't give it any other escape route," Hawktail, hopefully along with Adderpaw, would take the fox's left. Hawktail's fur was bristling, her back slightly arched, and her tail held high as she snarled at the fox. It growled back, but didn't appear willing or wanting to fight again. It even stepped back a few paces, though it didn't want to turn its back on the cats - with good reason. Good, she thought as she stepped forward with each step the fox took back, attempting to 'herd' it toward the stream.
