GENERAL BIOGRAPHY RULES
1. Use the Character Application Form to create the character.
Note: Tribe characters use a different form due to their longer names. Make sure to select the correct tab to use the tribe form.2. All character biographies must be posted in the WIP Biographies board for approval.
3. Each bio is broken into 3 sections: Appearance, Personality, and History.
Each section must be written in full sentences and meet the objectives outlined in the form.4. Characters cannot kill another cat in their own clan or tribe under any circumstance in the bio.
All histories must be written as a summation of the character’s life. This means it cannot be written as a narrative.
For example, a Thistleclan cat cannot kill another Thistleclan character.
5. Characters can use existing, accepted characters in their histories as long as the member who owns the character gives permission first.
6. If you want to use a deceased NPC character or character mentioned in the Island Timeline in your character’s bio, you must contact a staff member for permission.
7. When a Character Biography is finished, please contact a staff member via the discord in the #maintenance-request channel or on the site via a direct message.
8. Staff will then take 24 hours to review the bio twice.
9. If staff finds an issue with your bio, they will reach out to you directly to make any changes, often with suggestions.
11. If you want to edit and/or update an already accepted bio, please check out the "Update Bio" tab above for more information.
Changes can range from a name request change due to a repeated or banned prefix to content edits to meet the section objectives, word count, or site lore.10. If you need additional guidance creating a character, check out maxx 's Character Creation Pilot for a step-by-step guide in a video format.

UPDATING AN ACCEPTED BIOGRAPHY
1. After a bio has been accepted, you can edit and/or update it as your character changes throughout the roleplay.
2. To encourage regular updates, you can request a staff member via the #maintenance-requests channel to review your character's updated bio and redeem a spin on The Wheel of StarClan, TA's custom made prize wheel.
3. You can only request an updated bio review once per year, and after a staff member reviews the bio, they will "stamp" the bio with the last date it was reviewed for tracking purposes.
a. This means you get only 1 review per year. So Blazingstorm can get 1 review in 2023, 1 in 2024, 1 in 2025, etc.4. We recommend routinely updating your bios, even if it's not eligible for a review, to make the process easier. Updates should also relate to IC-growth and/or events. Acceptable edits include:
b. Once a new year starts, you can submit your character's bio for a new review. However, we ask that you only submit a review once you have substantial content to add, such as major ic-events to the history.
a. Appearance updates, such as new notable scars or permanent injuries4. Major edits to already accepted character bios are not allowed without staff permission, and in most cases, will be denied. This includes:
b. Personality changes, such as growing out of or losing an old trait or developing a new one due to in-character growth
c. History updates, such as important or impactful in-character events
d. Any minor factual information, such as age, rank, gender, faction, etc.
Note: All additions must have occurred in-character on the forum. No sneaking in any "Samplepaw was Minnowstar's secret advisor during her reign and frequently kissed her little toes."
a. Rewriting entire sections, such as the appearance (changing the cat's genetic makeup), personality, or history to the point of where it no longer matches the original5. After a staff member reviews and approves of your updated bio, you will earn a spin on StarClan's Wheel of Apostles, which will grant you a random tiered prize! The staff member will then screenshot the results, share them in the Discord, and record it our prize tracking spreadsheet.
b. Adding major and/or canon events into a history when your character was not present (a retcon if you will)
6. If you have any questions regarding updating your bios, please reach out to a staff members.
