LITTER REQUESTS RULES
Please refer to the character rules before requesting a litter.
Both members must agree to the litter: Members cannot request a litter if the other member does not want to have kits. Practice consensual kits.
Cats can have a litter and be considered an official couple after three threads: Members can request a litter once their characters have roleplayed with one another three times and the thread is considered complete. A completed thread has at least six replies and reaches a narrative conclusion.
*Romantic interaction displayed in a clan meeting, event, or gathering can be substituted for a completed thread. The interaction must be more than a lustful stare, however.
Cats can have an affair and/or birth kits for the clan/tribe after two threads: Members can request a litter for an affair and/or birth for the clan/tribe once their characters have roleplayed with one another two times and the thread is considered complete. A completed thread has at least six replies and reaches a narrative conclusion.
*Romantic and/or cordial interaction displayed in a clan meeting, event, or gathering can be substituted for a completed thread. The interaction must be more than a lustful stare, however.
Cats in a non-heterosexual relationship: Non-hetero cats can have kits! However, to make it a tad bit more realistic, these cats will need to have another cat birth and/or father the kits for them. Members can either choose that an NPC has a litter for their characters or have a third member act as a mother/father if another member wants to offer their cat's....services.
If members choose to have an NPC litter, they can either have one of their cats + a random cat for the genetics in the litter generator or choose to have a completely random litter.
If members choose to include another character to birth/father the kits, then that third cat's genetics must be used with one of their characters or the third cat + a random cat.
Members do not create the kits: To create a litter, members must use the Litter Request Form and make a thread in the Litter Request board. Once the thread is created, a staff member will use the Litter Generator to determine litter size, color, and gender.
Kits can be put up for adoption after the litter request: Once the litter has been generated, parents can name their kits, choose pictures, and put them up for adoption. Members must both contribute to the name selection. Members can either use the pictures provided in the roll or choose their own.
*Kits not adopted by the time the kits are born will be announced stillborn.
Parents decide who can adopt their kits: This means that the parents can devise a question(s) for adoptees to answer in order to ‘apply’ for the kit. Potentially, this also means that multiple members can apply for the same kit, and the parents will have to choose who they want to adopt the kit.
If parents do not know what question(s) to ask, we recommend that they use the default question -- What are your plans for the kit (personality, plot, etc.)? -- for their application process.
Parents can also decide how long their application process will be open. We recommend one week, and two weeks at most in order to give adoptees enough time to write their bios. If a kit remains un-adopted after this deadline, they have until the kit becomes playable to find a roleplayer.
Parents are required to detail their application process in their adoption thread. We recommend using this editable form (but feel free to use your own):
Member name: Name here
Desired kit: Kit name here
What are your plans for the kit? / Or state question(s) here Describe ideas for personality, plot ideas, etc.
Parent roleplayers have first choice from the litter: This means that if one or both parent roelplayer(s) want a kit from the litter, then they can choose the kit before it is placed up for adoption. This must be discussed between both roleplayers before the litter is posted and then reflected in the adoption post (ie. where it says ‘taken by,’ the member must put their own name).
Members can only adopt two kits at a time: This means that if a member has already adopted two kits, then they must wait until one of their kits ages into an apprentice before they can adopt another. With this in mind, members should think carefully about which litters they want to adopt from.
Members have a month and half to create the kit bio: This means members have until the kit becomes ICly playable to create their bio. If parents or staff notice that a member is active, and the kit bio hasn’t been created, the member will be notified as the deadline looms closer. If the kit bio is unsuccessfully created before the deadline, the parents can either put the kit back up for adoption or declare the kit stillborn.
Kits are born after one real month: Once the litter has been generated, a staff member will also assign a due date. This should be one month after the 'conception.' Once the month has passed, members can birth the kits.
Kits can be roleplayed two weeks after their OOC due date: Once the OOC due date has passed, members have two weeks to create an accepted character application form for them. Once the two weeks have passed, and the kits are accepted, members are allowed to roleplay them at one moon.
Members can choose to do an IC birth thread: Members are not required to rp the IC birth thread if they do not want to. That said -- feel free to rp the actual birth of the kits if it is relevant to the character of if a member simply wants to for their own enjoyment. The IC birth thread does not need to be finished for a kit to enter the rp in a different thread, since threads can sometimes take longer than two weeks to finish.
THE LITTER GENERATOR
Litters are determined by the Litter Generator.
The absolutely, lovely and insanely talented Bandit coded a random litter generator that uses simplified cat genetics and math! While the generator was coded by Bandit, the genetic information came from both moony and c a n n a .
The generator is free; however, we ask that the code is not stolen and that our names are not removed. Thank you.
When litter requests are made and approved, a staff member will use the generator to fill the litter request. Staff members will roll the generator once, screenshot the results, and share it on the litter request board. Litters cannot be re-rolled. All rolls are final.
The generator does have the rare chance for deaf, blind, and stillborn kits. Two white furred, blue eye-ed cats have a high risk of deaf children. The generator also accounts for genetic impossibilities, such as male calicos or tortoiseshells.
*At the moment, the generator still has a chance for male calicos. If a male cats comes out calico, it will default to a realistic coat color based on the mother and father.
The generator provides simplified cat genetics, which means that the actual kits will be more complex. Once a member has received their litter generated kits, c a n n a will comment on the thread to deliver the final genetic information (and pics), which is more specified.
For example, if a kit comes out with amber eyes. Canna can specify if the eyes are yellow, copper, or orange. If a kit is born with a solid brown coat, Canna can determine whether the cat has points or spots. This method allows for realistic kits in a controlled environment.
Members and guests are free to mess around with the generator for fun. However, official litter rolls must be performed by a staff member.
