LITTER REQUESTS
RULES
RULES
[PTabbedContent][PTab=Rules]
LITTER RULES
1. Kits cannot be created and must be born onto the island via the Litter Request Rules.
2. Members must agree to the litter before a litter is requested. Members cannot request a litter if the other member(s) does not want to have kits.
3. Before a character can qualify for a litter, they must have already completed 3 threads on the forum. As a reminder, a complete thread must be at least 6 posts in length and reach a narrative conclusion.
a. Threads must involve other characters outside of the relationship, such as family, friends, enemies, a clan-mate, etc.4. Once a character qualifies for a litter, the "couple" must complete at least 3 threads together*. Large and/or group threads are permitted. They do not have to be 1v1s. However, the characters in the litter request must interact with one another in the thread and total 6 posts between them.
b. Threads can be about ANYTHING as long as it's not being used to meet an additional requirement, such as to train an apprentice or earn a battle stat.
Note: Members can work on their character threads + their relationship threads concurrently to apply for a litters. Staff only asks all threads are completed before the request is made.5. Non-hetero cats can have kits! Kits born between non-hetero characters have two options to choose from.
*If you're characters are in a Forbidden Relationship, they cannot use Gathering threads toward a litter.
NPC litter: A nondescript, unnamed NPC queen can gift her kits to your characters to adopt as their own. NPC litter kits will have randomized genetics.6. To request additional litters, characters must have at least 3 more threads between them and 3 more threads with other clan-mates for each character, and the kits from their previous litter must be at least 6 moons old before more can be born.
Donor cat: Another member may offer their character as a genetic “donor” by either fathering/mothering one half of the litter’s genetics. If you are interested in this route, drop a line in the #plotting or #looking-for channel on the discord to find an interested donor
7. Once the litter requirements are met, members must create a thread in the Litter Request board.
Thread title: Litter Request: Character 1 Name x Character 2 Name (ex. Litter Request: Yew x Morning)8. Once the thread has been posted, please submit it to the #maintenance-request channel on the discord, so a staff member can perform the official kit roll using the litter generator and iron out the official kit genetics.
Thread content: Litter Request Form
9. All litters, unless it's custom and/or using a litter-related prize, are subject to a flat stillborn rate of 20%, and based on the season, can only have the following number of kits:
11. Kits can be roleplayed two weeks after their OOC due date. They will start out at one moon old.
12. Once the litter has been generated, parents can name their kits, choose FCs, and put them up for adoption in the Adoption board. Both members must be involved in this process.
13. The following information must be included in the official litter adoption thread:
15. Parent roleplayers have first choice from the litter. This must be discussed between both roleplayers before the litter is posted and then reflected in the adoption post (ie. where it says ‘taken by,’ the member must put their own name).
16. Kits who are unadopted by the 'playable date' (i.e. 1.5 months) have 3 options, which the parents can choose from (both parents must agree):
[/PTab][PTab=Custom Litters]Spring: 1-3 kits10. Kits are born after one real month. Staff members will assign a due date to the litter after it is rolled. Once the month has passed, members can birth the kits in a thread if wanted. Birth threads are not required.
Summer: 1-3 kits
Autumn: 1-3 kits
Winter: 1-2 kits
Members can only request 4 kit litters using a custom litter prize.
Adoption Rules: Parents must dictate their own adoption rules or lack thereof.14. Parents decide who can adopt their kits based on the rules they establish, and how long the adoption process will be open. We recommend one week, and two weeks at most in order to give adoptees enough time to write their bios.
Litter Context: A paragraph providing context for their litter, such as the history of the parent’s relationship, the future family dynamic, and why they did or did not want kits.
Thread ideas: List at least five thread ideas that either involve their entire family, individual threads with each kit, or a combination with their mate, etc.
15. Parent roleplayers have first choice from the litter. This must be discussed between both roleplayers before the litter is posted and then reflected in the adoption post (ie. where it says ‘taken by,’ the member must put their own name).
16. Kits who are unadopted by the 'playable date' (i.e. 1.5 months) have 3 options, which the parents can choose from (both parents must agree):
a. Parents can say the unadopted kits are stillborn.
b. Parents can say the unadopted kits never existed at all.
c. Parents can choose to keep the kits 'alive' until they are 6 moons old.i. If they keep them alive past the playable date, they can no longer 'claim the kit's name.'
ii. If the kits are not adopted by their 6th moon, they must be declared dead and the parents can decide their IC fate (death by illness, injury, etc.).
CUSTOM LITTERS
1. Offered as a contest and/or event prize, members may request to use a Custom Litter.
2. A custom litter allows members to customize the size up to 4 kits, genders, and coat and eye colors (as long as it is genetically possible between the parents) of a litter. It also protects the litter from stillborn rolls.
a. Members cannot give their kits rare traits unless the parent(s) genetically carry a rare trait.3. While entirely customizable, members can choose to randomize parts of the litter if they still want to leave parts of it up to chance.
b. Custom litters do not protect the litter from the 'unadopted kit rule' (#16 in Litter Rules)
For example, members can choose the litter size and genders but decide to leave the coat and eye colors up to genetic chance.4. If members choose to randomize a part of their litter and do not like the results, they can request changes to the randomized roll until they are satisfied with the results.
5. Similar to a normal litter requests, member must still follow the litter process and post an official litter request thread using the appropriate “custom litter form" listed in the "forms" tab above.
6. Once the kits have been finalized, members can post them up for adoption like a normal litter request.

THE LITTER GENERATOR
Litters are determined by the Litter Generator.
The absolutely, lovely and insanely talented Bandit coded a random litter generator that uses simplified cat genetics and math! While the generator was coded by Bandit, the genetic information came from both moony and c a n n a .
The generator is free; however, we ask that the code is not stolen and that our names are not removed. Thank you.
When litter requests are made and approved, a staff member will use the generator to fill the litter request. Staff members will roll the generator once, screenshot the results, and share it on the litter request board. Litters cannot be re-rolled. All rolls are final.
The generator does have the rare chance for deaf, blind, and stillborn kits. Two white furred, blue eye-ed cats have a high risk of deaf children. The generator also accounts for genetic impossibilities, such as male calicos or tortoiseshells.
Note: At the moment, the generator still has a chance for male calicos. If a male cats comes out calico, it will default to a realistic coat color based on the mother and father. The generator provides simplified cat genetics, which means that the actual kits will be more complex. Once a member has received their litter generated kits, moony will comment on the thread to deliver the final genetic information (and pics), which is more specified.
For example, if a kit comes out with amber eyes. Moony can specify if the eyes are yellow, copper, or orange. If a kit is born with a solid brown coat, Moony can determine whether the cat has points or spots. This method allows for realistic kits in a controlled environment.Members and guests are free to mess around with the generator for fun. However, official litter rolls must be performed by a staff member.

THE LITTER FORM
1. The following forms are used when requesting a litter.
2. Litter requests must contain:
a. The Litter Request Form or the Custom Litter FormThe Litter Request Formand
b. Genetic Form for each character involved
Note: If you are requesting a NPC litter for a non-hetero relationship, note this in the genetic form and enter random or n/a for each option.
Members requesting a custom litter must still provide genetic information for each parent involved, so staff can determine if the kits are realistic and/or perform randomized rolls.
The genotype requested if available in the genetic form is the long list of letter pairs that represent the genetic make up of the cat. This information is useful for moony when she confirms the genetics, but is not required if you do not have one made for the character.
