The Apostles is a warrior cats roleplay based in northern Wisconsin. On Lake Superior, the wild cats have made the Apostle Islands their home. It is on these islands - Rocky Island and South Twin Island - that the clan and tribe cats have lived in a peace and harmony that ebbs and flows with the tide.
But as the tides turn, so does the truce that binds them to one another; and as the water raises, a darkness follows, an evil that will end in bloodshed and violence.

How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot?
being one of redwoodclan's few remaining senior warriors, she's grown accustomed to the ever-worsening war between her clan and lichenclan. she bared witness to heatherstar's leadership, a reign she could only describe as passive and, toward the end, bone-weary. finchstar's reign, in her honest opinion, has been no different. she's eager for him to make a decision that won't leave redwoodclan looking weak; a decision that finally pushes lichenclan back and forces them to rethink this entire war. she was pro-war, in the beginning, when she was younger, less inclined to see reason, and only cared about proving herself a valuable asset to her beloved clan. yet, as the moons dragged on, and the lives of her clanmates were lost in these senseless battles, she found herself taking a backseat to it all, much preferring to guard the camp than to sink her claws into lichenclan's warriors' pelts. this starving beast they've called war has taken everything from her and her family: foxfire, who'd, over the seasons, become a leper within his own clan and was later deemed traitor upon his death by them all. dandelionfang and woodfrost, who'd become war-hungry and hateful; sons that cursed their own father as a traitor. and although sickness had been sycamoretail's downfall, not war, marigoldleap likes to think it's punishment for her mother's cruel, bitter, shriveled heart.
*as far as the tribe is concerned, marigoldleap has no true qualms when it comes to them. they had done what any sensible cats would do when faced with such a devastating illness, though she often wishes that it hadn't affected her own clan so greatly.
What are your personal plans for the character?
personally, i would love for marigoldleap to have the opportunity to rekindle some sort of familial relationship with her brothers. and i say brothers because, although she and dandelionfang never had a huge falling out like she and woodfrost had, i don't see her being particularly close with him, either, on the strength of his bond with woodfrost. speaking of her constantly suspicious brother, these two may actually never rekindle their sibling bond, strictly due to their wildly opposite views on lichenclan — on the entire war, really. marigoldleap believes under better leadership, lichenclan would be tolerable, while i'm assuming woodfrost just wants to put the whole clan down, period.
also, since i'm on the topic of family, i would love to explore a future romantic relationship (possibly forbidden, because... like father, like daughter, amiright?). i feel as though she would've actually fallen pregnant when she was a younger warrior and either suffered a miscarriage or carried to full-term and they were stillborn. either way, she went through it alone, which is more fuel to the ever-growing fire between her and her brothers. she most likely would've seen this misfortune as a blessing in disguise because who wants to have kits in the midst of a war just to see them die, y'know?
i firmly believe that, before the war got as intense as it is now, she would have been real vocal about how lichenclan wasn't the [only] problem — that redwoodclan should've taken a stand long before their rivals got the upper hand on them. it definitely would've created a great deal of distance between herself and the majority of her clanmates. moons down the line, she most likely became a leper within the clan, much like her late father. mostly by choice, but it probably would also stem from the physical altercation she had with her brother, woodfrost, for calling her a traitor. the fight, coupled with his words, has probably been ingrained in a good few warriors' memories and passed down to their kits, nieces, and nephews.
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
Ara is, by default, concerned with the plot of LichenClan's rebellion. Because of her history, I intend for her to get as involved with that as possible! And because of her current living situation with her family in the tunnels, I don't think there's much reason for her not to.
How does she feel about LichenClan?
Ara doesn't remember much about life in LC, but she knows that she was born there and she knows that's where her mother was from - as well as everything that Vega and her grandparents would have taught her about her history. She doesn't hate all of LichenClan, but she does hate those that were connected to or supportive of Sagestar's leadership - since it resulted in many of her relatives' deaths (directly or indirectly). She believes that LichenClan, as a whole, is the victim and result of a long line of tyrannical leaders.
Beyond that, though, she's curious about the warriors of LichenClan (as well as other Clans). She feels a calling to their life, something deep-rooted that she can't quite explain. She knows she belongs with them, but she can't be one of them because of her station in life. So she yearns for the day when LichenClan is safe enough for her family to return.
How does she feel about the rebellion?
Because of her grandfather's wishes, she knows in her heart that the rebellion needs to not only survive but succeed. Or else her ancestors will have suffered for nothing. But Ara isn't a fighter by nature, she is a healer like her grandmother. She aims to help in ways she's good at;making allies, collecting information and herbs, trying to find and connect to StarClan as her grandmother had, and making sure that no one else dies under her watch like her grandfather did.
What are your personal plans for the character?
I'd like her to be a medic/aid when any fighting happens. I don't see her making a great fighter in the rebellion but she'd definitely want to help as much as she could in the ways I listed above; making allies, collecting information, gathering herbs, healing, trying to connect to StarClan, etc. I love that she's a healer because I think the rebels will greatly benefit from someone like that and it gives them a better edge without having to trust/risk a Clan medicine cat.
She's almost desperate to help others in need. I think she's a bit traumatized from her grandfather's death and doesn't want to see anyone else die, but she also recognizes the risks they all have to take. So instead of being paranoid or overprotective, she's prepared and always ready to mend what's broken. Even if she's not sure how to heal certain ailments, she will exhaust everything she does know. And that's something I would love to play out with others, especially as the proverbial shit starts to hit the fan! I'd also love to put her in a situation not unlike in the warriors' books, how medicine cats would go to aid warriors in the middle of battle! That would be super cool! Ara the Field Medic
Following along the lines of her adventuresome personality and the curiosity/yearning she feels about LichenClan, I'd like for Ara to meet others from the Clans (not just LC), making friends, learning about their ways of life. I think it would be really awesome if she gained some allies from the Clans so she has 'friends in high places'. As well, I think she would try really hard to end up in a situation where she could "run into" Briarfall by herself (if Raven's down) and ask her more about StarClan/herbs and such. They could potentially help each other as the rebellion plot unfolds.
With her family in mind, I think this is where a lot of Ara's frustrations will build from. She doesn't want to be stuck in the tunnels (who does?); she hates being trapped and in hiding, so she often strikes out above ground. Which earns her lectures from her brother, Altair, and the others. While she loves her family deeply, she also feels frustrated and gets very willful when she's got a hair up her ass about something. She's grown into an adult and by now she wants more to life; she's impatient for change. For this I hope that she'll have some meaningful interactions with her family, where they grow closer together though understanding and shared pain. And they can reel her back in when she gets too ahead of herself, helping her set realistic goals/expectations.
As for returning to LichenClan, on the one hand I want to say it would be a sure thing. Fulfill her dream of returning her family to LichenClan where she believes they rightfully belong. She could learn how to become a warrior and integrate herself into the life she was always supposed to have. But on the other hand, I think it makes more sense to let her decisions reflect IC events. The friends she meets along the way, the enemies she makes, and the things she'll witness/go through will all have an impact on this plot point. She may end up wanting to stay independent and living life on her own terms, remaining a friend to LichenClan but deciding to live outside their borders. Or she might fall in love with someone, and that could certainly complicate things! I'm willing to roll the dice on this one and let fate decide!
All in all, I see a lot of potential in her and I don't want her arc ending with the rebellion (whichever way it goes). I'm very excited to see where her and her family's story ends up, regardless of who plays her. Thank you guys for your consideration!
Member name: Captain! Character name: Altair How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
Altair will always follow his purpose. In this case, he’s decided his purpose is to help the rebels and will do whatever he can.
LichenClan: Altair loves LichenClan. He’s dreamed about living there since he was young and desperately holds on to the little memories he does have of clan life. He’s particularly fascinated by StarClan and the connection LichenClan has with them. He’s willing to take any bit of information he can get his paws on and will seek it out if necessary. He’ll fanboy over the LichenClan cats he meets to the point of being a bit of a nuisance.
Rebels: Altair will be overjoyed to find the rebels. They are what his Grandma was leading him to, and he starts to obsess over them. It’s his purpose to help them, and he starts to break out of his shell to do so. He needs to make sure they succeed.
Minnowstar: Altair pities Minnowstar. From what he can learn from the rebels, he knows she’s done serious wrong. Altair is firm in his belief that StarClan is wholly good and anyone doing bad in their name is misguided. He’ll hope that he or someone else can convince Minnowstar of her wrongdoings and redeem her. Even if that gets him killed, he refuses to give up on her.
Briarfall: Altair idolizes her. She’s a medicine cat with a direct connection to StarClan, and Altair wishes he was chosen like her. If they ever meet, he will overwhelm her with questions and stick like a tick to her side.
Bristlefur: Altair is unsure what to think about the LichenClan deputy. He’s pretty interesting since he’s a LichenClan cat, but Altair wonders why he hasn’t stood up for the rebels or questioned Minnowstar’s leadership.
What are your personal plans for the character? I’d like to call him Altar if possible (or just pronounce it like that in my head) and I like this faceclaim
Mostly, I’d like Altair to be a religious cat whose obsession can parallel Minnowstar’s. Once he started having dreams, he just kept asking more and more questions about what it meant. To summarize his traits he is: paranoid, wistful, curious, and reserved.
When he meets the rebels, he’ll have a chance to overcome his quiet nature and learn how to speak up for what he believes in. However, he’ll develop an unhealthy focus on the rebels and their goals and will struggle with ignoring everything else. As he stops having visions or finishes helping the rebels, he’ll realize he doesn’t have any purpose in life anymore. He’ll have to come up with a new purpose and meaning without relying on the words of his grandmother.
Before the rebels Altair is weakwilled and quiet. He’s rather reserved and doesn’t speak up much. Instead, he’s content with following the status quo. He struggles with understanding the feelings of others, and because of that has had a difficult time connecting to his sister and grandfather. Despite that, he’s passionate about learning and the mysterious forces beyond.
He’s being consumed by his dreams and the secrets of the tunnels. He wants to tell his family about his dreams but always finds an excuse not to. Not today, they’re too tired. Maybe tomorrow. So they’re a long-kept secret that has started to take a toll on him. He’s obsessed with the mystery of what they mean, and it’s starting to intrude into every waking thought. He’ll hear echoes in the tunnels and listen greedily to them hoping for more. His dreams are a constant repeat of travelling down the same tunnel, but he’s never quite able to reach the end. He spends a lot of his time sleeping, hoping that this time he can catch up to his grandmother. When he’s awake, he’ll often stare off at nothing while his mind whirls or find his paws wandering deep into the caves.
After the rebels Altair develops an unhealthy attachment to the rebels. He’s overjoyed to find what his grandmother was leading him to all this time and is eager to help them. Despite that, he still struggles with being too soft-spoken. Over time, the relationships he forms with the rebels will help grow his confidence and help him speak up more.
He’ll often pry too much into life in LichenClan, and ask triggering questions without realizing the pain he could be causing. He’s especially obsessed with StarClan and any bit of information he can learn about them. His eagerness can be off-putting and bring up bad memories of Minnowstar.
Due to his devotion to the cause, he’ll take unnecessary risks. He’s willing to put his life on the line for the rebel’s cause and has trouble understanding the pain his recklessness causes.
Beyond When he stops having visions and/or his job to help the rebels is over he’ll struggle with what to do with himself. He’s been so focused on interpreting dreams and following his purpose that there won’t be anything left for him. He’ll spend some time reconnecting with the family and relationships he’s overlooked and come to terms with the fact he doesn’t need some grand purpose in life. He’ll have to come to terms with what a healthy relationship to his faith is and set ground rules for himself.
After that, he can happily live as a StarClan loving cat who doesn’t need to wait on their every whim.
Member name: Lightning Character name: Adderheart Tentative fc: I'd like him to at least be a classic tabby, both to match the name as well as to differentiate him from my other cats. I like this cat a lot, but if a chocolate tabby is too flashy I can find a black one Note: I will use an extra slot award for him, so I will have enough character slots despite my current numbers.
How will this character integrate into the current clan's plot (ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
Regarding LichenClan... At first, Adderheart believed that all of LichenClan was evil. He thought that they were tainted and wrong, poisoned by false idolatry. However, the cat has come to realize that the clan isn't entirely evil; rather, there are individuals that push heinous actions onto their subordinates and force those who do not agree to flee. He believes that the ranks must be purged of those that crave violence and bloodshed, regardless of their position regarding StarClan's intentions. Those that wave StarClan's flag as a symbol of war, and those that feast on blood beneath it, must be stripped of their station, exiled, or killed (preferably killed). He has gathered a fair deal of information regarding those in power and believes that behind Minnowstar's destructive rule there are those who use her insanity to do evil acts regardless of their beliefs in the stars. To Adderheart, these cats are just as bad as she is.
Regarding StarClan... Adderheart is a tepid believer in StarClan. He acknowledges that they likely exist, as to deny them is to fight against Occam's Razor. So many cases of their interference exist, and only some can be explained by scientific or natural phenomena. He also believes that some individuals have links to them that he does not. He believes what Altair says regarding his grandmother's voice and believes that Medicine Cats can receive prophetic dreams. What he does not believe is that StarClan works in absolutes, or that one might know what they say with certainty. The mystical and the logical are in two different spheres, and he much prefers to focus on that which he can grasp in his paws rather than relying on strange entities in the sky. He takes things literally in general and hates how cryptic dreams and messages can be. If he can explain something without the use of metaphors and dreams, he absolutely will.
Regarding The Tunnels... Although he struggles to show it in a way others can easily retain, he cares very deeply about many things. The plights of others pull at his heartstrings often, and he seeks to help others whenever he can. He has grown very attached to his tunnel-bound companions and will follow them to the ends of the earth no matter how much he likes to fight against them and their ideas (especially Vega). It takes a great deal of time to gain his trust, but he will follow his allies implicitly in large part because he knows that they care about him in turn and that their intentions are as pure as his own. He regards the tunnels as his home, even if he says that he's on his way back to ThistleClan whenever he gets mildly annoyed with one of his friends.
Regarding the Recent Events…Adderheart does not have the charisma that Vega has and has accepted that he will stand behind the tom working in the shadows. He believes firmly in his ability to make Vega's plans work, often chewing him out for taking reckless risks and reasserting himself as the team's "smart one." He knows they need someone to talk sense and express caution when needed. He seeks to rid LichenClan of evil, to return LichenClan's banished ones to their homes, and to fulfill whatever Vega needs of him (even if he complains the whole time).
What are your personal plans for the character?
Regarding Companionship... Adderheart has never gone out of his way for the sake of companionship. Most of the time he is content in his own world, somewhere his mind can churn through ideas in peace. He is an inwardly focused cat and has always felt like he was watching himself interact with others from a distance, rather than interacting with them himself. While he prides himself a logistician, unburdened by such things as friendship and love, he is drawn to some more than others. He does not hide his internal world, and those that accept him as he is rather than what he could be will gain his trust, loyalty, and even his companionship. What has tied him to Vega and the others has been a combination of a few things. Adderheart can tell himself all he likes that he remains because he has nowhere else to go, or because he is indebted to Vega's family, but he has genuinely grown attached to the small family of felines and would not leave until they see their purpose through.
Regarding Those Abandoned by their Clans... No matter how level-headed and rational Adderheart is, he is not cold. When he sees others in need, he rushes to their aid and does what he does best, even if he is rarely comforting or warm in his approach. It is this urge to help others that drove him as an apprentice to pressure Froststar into the war effort, and his interest in the ensuing battles and plight of individuals propels him to involve himself with the rebels. While originally, he fought for RedwoodClan's peace, he has found himself deeply drawn to those banished from LichenClan as they have been betrayed by their leadership in a way, he finds he connects with. He will continue to assist them wherever they need it, aiming to end the war and put an end to LichenClan's leadership. He is no leader himself, however, and looks to Vega to take charge (no matter how annoying the cat is). He prefers to take the role of an advisor, telling Vega when his plans are short-sighted and utilizing his talents to aid the effort. Vega may be the face of their movement, but Adderheart will always be a vital participant in any worthwhile scheme from the cat.
Regarding Strangers and Friends... Adderheart is interested in reigniting some of his former relationships, no matter how few remain. He was always a loner, so there are few he knows well from his life before the tunnels that have not died. He is definitely interested in meeting with "Finchy" again, though the cat he was when the pair were buddies is not quite the cat he is now. Regardless, he has thought often about how it was Finchstar that got him in the situation he is now and considers himself the creature in the shadows silently working towards the RedwoodClan leader's success, even if Finchstar is not aware of his secret ally. I am also interested in finding him some connections within ThistleClan. While he definitely was a bit of a loner, I would like for him to have cats who he would recognize and who would recognize him near his age in ThistleClan.
Regarding ThistleClan...Part of the reason I am interested in getting him a couple of connections in ThistleClan is that I definitely want to explore the concept of him one day returning. As he is now, he feels as though his "new life" is merely distracting him from his old. Despite this, it has been several seasons since he lived among the pines, and to return now knowing no one wouldn't make sense given how much an outsider he felt during his time there. As he continues to work with Vega and the others, ThistleClan is frequently in the back of his mind, but he almost always ignores that part of him that yearns to return home. Whether he chooses to pursue something with RedwoodClan (as they are who he feels he is fighting for), something with Vega and the tunnel cats, or trying to return will depend on how the rp shakes out!

How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)? I plan for Altair to be rather... awkward, with his current place in the tunnels. He doesn't remember LichenClan at all, but he's heard of stories, and from what he's heard, it's a place he'd love to learn more about! He tries to keep his thoughts about that to himself, though, as he's worried what the others may think - especially Vega, since he knows his father tries his best for him and Ara, despite the slight tension always present between the two. He also reserves judgement on any LichenClan cats for now until he's met them, but he's heard rather bizarre things about Minnowstar...
As for LichenClan's cultish war, Altair doesn't understand. He believes in StarClan, but doesn't understand how they let such a war be enacted unless they supported Minnowstar, yet she seemed borderline insane, right? Vega's words about Cranefeather certainly make him think that way. One thing that Altair is certain on is that war is NOT the answer, and if they have to remove Minnowstar to stop the war, then he'd do so. Not that he has the courage.
Similarly, he feels like RedwoodClan are victims, but might be doing something to deserve this. StarClan would stop it if it was ruthless, right? Altair tries to ignore these thoughts, because what does he know? He grew up in the tunnels, out of StarClan's view! Either way, he's curious. The tom thinks that there is a lot more about StarClan to explore, and he's eager to learn, but doesn't express this desire.
He had little to no opinion on ThistleClan and the rogues, and no knowledge of the tribes existence.
What are your personal plans for the character?
Personality: ✔ Imaginative. Altair allows his imagination to carry him away a lot of the time, contributing to vivid dreams, but it also makes him an avid storyteller. He can lose himself in his stories, and could go on for hours if he isn't stopped. It is certainly some form of entertainment in the dank tunnels. If only he had young cats to listen to them...
✔ Cooperative. Altair isn't a leader. He gets on well with others, whether they are authority or family or otherwise, and therefore would find it pretty easy to get along with the rebellion, as his thoughts don't differ from their cause either.
- Pacifist. Altair dislikes fighting, both with claws and with words. This contributes to his unwillingness to express the entirety of his emotions, in case it causes a clash. He would rather talk things out. However, sometimes conflict may be necessary, and that is a truth that Altair isn't willing to accept.
✘ Secretive. Due to a peaceful nature and lots of nerves, Altair likes to keep his emotions and feelings to himself, as well as secrets. He is scared of how his family would react if they hear about what he thinks of their home, or his yearning to leave, or the voice he hears in his head. He'd rather avoid any clashes over this.
✘ Meek. Unlike Ara, Altair doesn't have the guts to stand up to something that could be upsetting him. Scared of repercussions, he would rather keep the peace and have things remain the same rather than any change, so he bottles himself up and lets things run by him, even if he disagrees.
Plot Plans:
First off, I think it would be fun for Altair to remember wisps of memory from when he was a kit - more like random names from when he was in the nursery. Briarkit and Brackenkit, the sisters. The blind kit Spiderkit, a newborn when he left. A scary medicine cat who gave him a fear of herbs. they would be things that keeps him curious about LichenClan life. Where would he be now, had he stayed as Gingerkit? They are questions he would want to answer.
I would like to explore Altair's dream ability more! At the beginning, I think he'd be scared and worried, since Rookflower is supposed to be dead, right? Surely only the medicine cats he's heard of have this ability? He'd try and avoid it, and that will start making his paranoia grow, up to a point where sudden statements and touches can scare him, possibly causing upset within his family unit.
Eventually, I think he'd snap, and start looking for Rookflower through the tunnels, although it'll wind him up when he gets nowhere. He'd start thinking something was wrong and that he just... isn't right, although still won't talk to anyone about it. He doesn't want to worry them or stress them out, after all!
Once he comes across the rebellion, there will be an instant sense of relief, but there will be a longing that comes with it. By this point, I envision that Altair will have become more comfortable with Rookflower's presence, and depending whether she disappears upon finding the rebellion or not will alter Altair's reaction. He's grown fond of the presence even if it stresses him out and if she leaves, it'll scare Altair, and make him wish for her back. However, I like to imagine that he'll find himself among the rebellion. He'll have more of a purpose in life, a clear vision, and slowly start to come out of his shell. He'll still be emotionally closed off unless someone gets close to him (which I imagine he'll like, he's never been close to anyone before), but he'll have something to work towards.
In the end, Altair's fate depends a lot on the rebellion! If he feels comfortable there, he may join LichenClan with them, but this also depends on how Vega and Ara's relations with him go, and whether they grow with him. Also, maybe the voices remain, and Altair chooses to remain in the dark so he can hear them...
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
"The rebellion, Vega!"
These words have rang in his ears ever since his father dissapeared into the rushing waters, but their spirit has been within him, with something in him pushing him towards the clans, since childhood. His frequent forays into the sunshine were met with words of all kinds, sometimes troubling and sometimes great, hearing of tragedies and heroes. When Cranewatcher established that their home within the tunnels was a place for him to assist the broken of the world, he became his greatest hero and vowed that he would stay true to his spirit even after death, and investigate his final directive. When he meets the cats of the rebellion, he'll understand where the gnawing inside of him was meant guide him and he'll commit to helping the Lichenclan outcasts as much as he can. As he goes along however, he may feel at odds with the love that he has for the ideals inside him, and the cats that he's grown to love.
His family in the tunnels have all been part of his father's tutelage, of some kind or another. These cats literally slipped through the cracks in the island, and while they are wildly different, he cares for each and every one. Altair, their differences so stark is the one he feels least connected with and the most confused by, but also the most concern for. Adder has to translate for him, often. Not much for the beliefs of starclan, he fails to understands what his dreams are meaning. He knows that something is up, and hopes that the new rouges will have an answer for both of them. Sometimes, his plans can come off as half cocked and wild, but they are all in service of those he loves, and at the end of the day, isn't willing to put them through more risk than they themselves aren't willing to assume. As for himself, all bets are off, and he'll die to ensure either his goals or their safety.
As the game he gets involved with gets more and more dangerous, he'll feel more compelled to remove the source of the pain this region of the island feels altogether, and as he learns more about he world his father left behind, he'll realize the other family that his father left behind for him. He hopes that with his family at his side, he'll finish what Cranewatcher started.
What are your personal plans for the character?
The cat has still got it. He uses his charm and favor to navigate the world, and sometimes that map takes him into the pelts of others. He tires of these one sided relationships, but the connections he makes in the next few seasons might lead to a final few flings before he settles down. I want to explore the tension with Dapple, as she's been his rock through all the hard times, and greatly admires her as individual. Despite what she may say, he finds her a kindred spirit, apt to keep taking the biffs she deals out. He fears however, that a relationship with her might somehow disrupt the deep trust that she's built up with him and is afraid that she'll think he's not capable of truly giving up the fast and fleezy life, amid other concerns now that Lichenclan is involved with their operation. He also fears that Altair will grow apart from him even more, as the two have a connection.
Family being one of his priorities, he wants to help Altair in any way that he can, and perhaps use his knowledge of the tunnels system in order to help him see if there is any substance to the dreams that he's been having. I'd like to have a few threads of them together, gathering resources or whatnot, above ground, as like him, enjoys the sunshine. Adder and Vega are going to bicker and argue like and old married couple, but he trusts him a lot as well. He probably wouldn't ever say it seriously, but he realizes that his sharp mind is they key to making his crazy plan work, and Vega is a bit jealous of it sometimes failing to sound as intelligent.
His love of family, however, was borne of the will of his parents, and stems from his idealism and Cranewatcher's work and stories, and he's always felt the pull to live up to that legacy. He'll start putting together things that his father told him once the new members of his family show up and begin spilling about the current state. He will grow to generally like, and he'll want the full story. He'll begin to pore over his father's work more and more, and want to begin to assume Cranewatcher's former position in the effort to stop the suffering near the cliffs. After he'll want to meet the current crop of leaders like Quickstrike, or at least let them know the status of their compatriots, and that they have support from deep within. He'll learn more as he continues his service, whatever form that takes, and should he ever hear of the circumstances of himself and Slatestep, he'll become enraged at both himself and Minnowstar for ruining his family. He'll try to find him and if Maxx is down to plot, he could try to undo some of the damage that she has inflicted, and possibly even learn the identity of the heron line. This could be a good point for development where he finally swears off the last bit of his toxic immaturity, and once more finds his way toward true love and purpose outside his activism. This could happen a multitude of ways, or he could stay unhitched and not (but i'd like him to haha)
One thing that will become wildly evident to him is that his goal of keeping his tunnel friends safe and helping the rebellion, and continuing the old mission of helping all those who pass through the caverns will be at odds. Both are sacred, and the choice will be something he feel ill equipped to handle on his own. In navigating the liberation of the clans and the deepening of his own fervor in his dad's world, I'd like his constant "walking to line" between these differing relationships to end as it would be straining the trust of those he cares about. He'll need to examine himself, see which ideals of his father's truly belong in the here and now, and make the tough decisions about who belongs on his home. One of the themes of his life is balance as both a good and bad thing, and while he tries so hard to maintain it, as that of his home upsets, so will his.
After all is said and done, and what change he had a hand in bringing about is here, he'll feel a sense of accomplishment, but also longing. The next adventure calls to him, whether it's family or for himself, He could pick a clan to integrate with, as many of his friends have expressed interest in joining a clan and if the world there seems to support it, he might think it good for them. He may also petition Ara at least, to stay with him and turn the tunnels into a permanent sanctuary for those that are sick, broken, and in need of some respite from the world. Should none of these come to pass, he'd feel compelled to wander the island in search of cats to assist and causes to bring to life.
We felt that zuko's proposal better aligned with the future of the rebellion plot. However, we encourage you to apply for other TA Canon Adopts! Thank you so much for applying.
Member name: Raven Character name: Dapplefang How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
Post Cranewatcher Experience: Losing both Rookflower and Cranewatcher so close together has thrown the balance of Dapplefang’s world into disarray. She wants to do her best to support Vega as he moves into the spot as ‘leader’ of their tiny group. Deep down, she worries about the changes that are surely on the horizon as the group adjusts and learns of goings on outside of their tunnels.
The Rebellion: Although Dapplefang harbors no great love for the Clans after her experiences, one thing that she’s certain of is that she hates LichenClan. If she knows that there are cats out there actively working to restore peace to the forest and overturn the violent regime, then she will do anything in her power to support them.
RedwoodClan: Dapplefang is unable to let go of the hurt of losing her family and being left for dead herself. It was no RedwoodClan warrior that came to her aid, but Vega. As far as she is concerned, her loyalty lies with him now. She stayed away from the cats she grew alongside because of her distaste for Heatherstar’s passivity. How is she supposed to know if Finchstar would be any better? She, perhaps unfairly, blames Heatherstar for the death of her mentor and family and isn’t convinced that Finchstar wouldn’t have let the same thing happen. She is not helping the rebellion for the sake of her birth Clan, though, but for the sake of every cat on the island. Minnowstar and LichenClan are a menace that should be stopped.
The Tunnels: Even though she talks a big game about being careful and exclusive with who they show themselves to, she has been unable to turn away a cat in need (Looking at you, Adderheart). The thought of living with the sun on her back again is appealing, but she recognizes the safety the tunnels offer them especially in regards to the late Cranewatcher.
What are your personal plans for the character?
Regarding Vega specifically, I would really be looking forward to exploring their relationship. She views him as her best friend and trusted confidant and, try as she might, she can’t ignore the stubborn crush she has held for him for what’s felt like countless moons. It breaks her heart whenever she thinks he’s been out with another she-cat, but she would never let it show. Jealousy from losing her first crush to her sister shows its head here too, but she tries to keep it subtle. She fancies the idea that they end up together, but is going to have to come to terms that her plans may have to be put on hold with news of LichenClan’s active rebellion.
Afterwards, faced with the prospect of returning to RedwoodClan or any Clan, she would hesitate. Provided they don’t have a cataclysmic falling out, she would want to follow him. If that meant going back to a Clan, she would go. But if he were to choose to stay in the tunnels or live above ground as a loner, she would make up some excuse to go with him then too. Who knows, she may even work up the courage to call him out on his promiscuity and confess her own feelings.
She is going to have to work through her past traumas to adjust to trusting strangers again as her world expands including being hyper aware of how these strangers are treating the cats she has grown to love as her own family. Even though she hasn’t had kits of her own, I picture her becoming protective, almost maternal, especially when it comes to younger cats.
Member Name: Ego/Egotistic Character Name: Dapplefang How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (i.e., what are their opinions on current events)?
The Rebellion— A group of LichenClan's most sordid individuals, Dapplefang, will regard the rebels and their ilk with a particular prejudice. So long gripped by the political biases of Clan life, where others within the tunnel faction may willingly offer them aid, Dapplefang will take longer to warm, viewing them through that jaded lens of one who knows the ways of war and those that have fought in them. With time, interaction, and coaxing, Dapplefang will come to view them as assets to stir the island in the direction of peace which she so gravely wants and will aid them in their endeavors, teaching and guiding them to the best of her ability as a seasoned warrior. In the wake of the rebellion and their needs, Dapplefang will revive the warrior she once was and cast aside her promises for peace for the sake of what she hopes to be the greater good.
Ultimately, while viewed with suspicion, Dapplefang will view their cause as noble and greatly admire their courage and sacrifice to see through what she, in her fiery youth, was unable to with tooth and claw.
RedwoodClan— Her former home, left behind for a life amongst the tunnels... Dapplefang finds that within that lofty forest there is little left for her anymore. Having lost both mother and father, mentor and loved ones, of the people she would return to, they are but strangers in her eyes—ones that will offer her little warmth but perhaps instead see the cowardice that led to so long and mysterious an absence. Due to this, she is dogged by feelings of guilt and melancholy surrounding the topic of her former home. Dapplefang, despite being left at the border to die and despite her indebtedness to Vega and his people, still greatly cherishes her Clan and their legacy despite her own opposition regarding the way the Clan itself was run under Heatherstar's leadership and her own hatred for the former leader's passive ways which even now she blames for the losses the Clan still experiences. Still, she has learned from them and vows to never lie by in idleness to allow those she loves to meet a similar fate.
However, she will always be gripped by the hardships her Clan has faced due to LichenClan's tyranny. While her efforts are not solely for her Clan as they once were, she values the time spent amongst their ranks, fighting alongside them and witnessing firsthand the consequences of heedless fighting just as well as she values the Clan's mentality and values, instilling them even today into the tunnelers ideologies.
Lily's Faction— A new stench has permeated the glade, and it is one she likes not. Though it may be some time before Dapplefang ever discovers what it is that LichenClan has gotten themselves into, when the time of their reveal comes, she will view the rogues as further justification for action. Where formerly they idled and took in the refuses of war, here lies a threat that can challenge even their secret way of life. Dapplefang will be forced to view this temporary allyship with apprehension, further pushing her against her morals and into action, finding both a way to quell the threat… and perhaps turn it in their favor.
LichenClan— The Clan responsible for stripping everything from her, Dapplefang does not share in Vega's want to rectify the star-crossed tyrants accountable for the death of her own, yet rarely utters such things aloud. To them, she regards with utmost suspicion and distrust, yet for the sake of Vega and all others within the tunnels, maintains a certain forced neutrality for the sake of her savior's own interest. When word of Minnowstar's most recent actions reach them, deep down beneath the earth, Dapplefang will feel roused against the warrior kept dormant for so long and the itching for battle coaxing her.
The Tunnels— Cranewatcher's tunnel-dwellers are her people now—she with nothing left to her. Having healed her hurts, padded her belly, and heeded her stories, not only does she feel an indebtedness to these cats who dwell beneath the very stones of the island but a kinship. She learns from their ways and develops a want to aid all those who have met a similar fate to herself. Having retrieved Adderheart's fox-marred body, she felt further ingrained the certainty that this path—this way of aiding the islands refuse—was what the stars have destined her to do, though she knows not why or for what purpose. It has been moons now, and though Dapplefang sometimes laments the life she left behind, she knows that to return would be to return to a life that no longer provides anything for her. With no family, she has made a new one within the tunnels and views them with the fierce love which RedwoodClanners are known for… and this time, she swears to never let them meet the same fate as the last.
What are your personal plans for the character?
Temperament | Battle-hardened, jaded, and no stranger to war, Dapplefang has since harnessed the worst of her impulsivity and easily roused anger, yet wields a tongue that is blunt and facetious in its nature. Of those within the tunnels, of Vega and Adderheart and his offspring, she views them as one might view their own kits—with a fierce and unyielding protectiveness. To them, she offers the full of her loyalty and the aid of her body and brutish strength, letting no harm fall upon them and upholding in full the RedwoodClan values instilled in her at birth.
Future Development | Since found at the border and tended under the watchful eye of Cranewatcher and Rookflower, and since also learning of the loss of all that she holds dear, Dapplefang not only wrestles with survivor's guilty but a growing abhorrence both for passivity and fighting. Viewing her homeland as one of idleness and impudence, though her blood will always long for those proud redwoods, her home and her loyalty remains with Cranewater and Rookflower's ilk, those whose way of living better satisfies her than any other.
Since joining and earning the autonomy she lacked within her own Clan, Dapplefang has settled comfortably into a life of hiding. She is Vega's most loyal confidant and imparts on him the same fierce loyalty she gave to his predecessors, not only for his part in saving her but also in his steadfastness as a friend to her. And so she serves him and his cause with mind and body, a valued asset within the tunnels as she is a skilled and deadly fighter, though one that has since dulled their claws.
As the rebellion comes face-to-face with the tunnel-dwellers, Dapplefang's beliefs will be challenged by the advent of a new force and cause of which she has sworn herself to aid. She will wrestle with offering these cats resources, with healing their hurts and listening to their woes, but in time may begin to develop the neutrality she has always felt herself lacking in regards to LichenClan. Through their stories of lost homes and wrongs endured, Dapplefang will feel revive in her something she has always been forced to keep dormant.
I view Dapplefang as a disgruntled veteran, privy to the ways of war and no glorifier of it. She has since cast aside her war-hardened ways and irascible temper for one of subdued wisdom and carries herself as one who has experienced a great deal and learned even more. I like the idea of a warrior who has since vowed to never spill blood unless necessary—someone who fights with blunted blows and heavy hits, but never to the point of cruelness and certainly never to the extent of pleasure. Likewise, I like the idea of having that vow be questioned by the rising threat of LichenClan and the need to shoulder her old ways again for the greater good. In my mind, I imagine Dapplefang as a cat of good temper and humor, rich in empathy, honest to a fault but still with a certain coarseness to her. She is stubborn but well-meaning and, with no concrete code to guide her, navigates the world as she wishes, not as the stars decree. I can see her being a valuable asset to the tunnel-dwellers—the brawn of their faction—and a steadfast defender of their home and people.
I would like Dapplefang to hold a close bond with all the current tunnel-dwellers in terms of relations. Of Vega, there is no questioning her loyalty. He is one of the few cats whom she will lower her guard for and confide in and expects the same from him. There is no cat in the world she trusts more with her life, and because of this, she guards his well-being and his family with a fierce and unshakeable zeal. Of his offspring, the meek Altair and the adventurous Ara, she bears a similar affection and protectiveness, viewing them almost as though they were her own little ones and guarding them accordingly. Of Adderheart, I imagine even him to be considered for rare instance of Dapplefang's tenderness. Believing firmly in RedwoodClan values for family and community, Dapplefang navigates all those accepted within the faction as she might her own Clan and is a constant and present shoulder on which all can lean. I like the thought of her being a pillar within the tunnel community, shouldering everyone's burdens whether asked to or not and a neutral part on which all come to confide in.
Concerning what happens after they give aid to the rebels, I would like to feel this out through IC interactions. I can see Dapplefang either staying within the tunnels to live alongside Vega and her family, or leaving them to watch over LichenClan, feeling her skills and knowledge are better suited to aid the Clan in rebuilding. This is open, but I feel she would follow her heart and protective nature, maybe even rekindling in their allyship a longing for the life she has since left behind.
We felt that ego's proposal expanded more on the character outline. However, we encourage you to apply for other TA Canon Adopts! Thank you so much for applying.
Member name: Raven Character name: Silkfeather How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
StarClan. Belief in StarClan is something Silkfeather has struggled with since she was young. Her memories of her father are very distant and fuzzy. Though she is sure that he would have told her and her sister stories of their ancestors, she has difficulty recalling the nature of those stories. She doesn't think that her father or her aunt would lie to her about such things, but there is still a disconnect for her. One thing she has settled on as she's matured is that there is certainly a higher power that looks over the forest. Whether or not that is StarClan specifically, she can't say, but something guides their paws.
RedwoodClan. Slikfeather loves her Clan loyally. Where her Clanmates have doubted Finchstar as a leader, she has shown him nothing but unwavering, if not quiet, support. She tries to help whenever she can, however she can, from gathering herbs to extra hunts when she knows the warriors are going to need their strength. She knows what an incredible burden Finchstar must have on his shoulders becoming leader so young and has vowed to do whatever she can to try and ease that burden (as long as it doesn't come to verbally confronting her Clanmates).
The Tribe. Silkfeather is all for helping the tribe. Many want to blame everything that is wrong on this new group of cats, but to her it just doesn't make sense. Marsh-heart succumbed to his illness well before the tribe ever made an appearance in their lives. Bad things happened before they knew about the tribe, bad things will happen after. As far as Silkfeather is concerned, they are a group of cats just like herself and her Clan that were in need of help. She is intensely curious about their way of life and always trying to learn more.
LichenClan. This is probably the most negative she feels about another faction. Beyond her hurt feelings after losing her mother to a LichenClan attack, she feels bad for them having to live under Minnowstar. She's seen the furtive glances on the warriors faces at gatherings. They look almost hunted, like they're afraid that they are being spied on and that breaks Silkfeather's heart. Minnowstar expects such rigid religious control over her warriors, but Silkfeather thinks that they should be able to experience greater freedom to live their own lives. Not every cat is built the same, after all.
ThistleClan. Slikfeather thinks its interesting how close the pine cats seem to be to being rogues while still functioning as an actual Clan. As far as she knows, the leaders still have nine lives and their medicine cat still talk to the stars, but beyond that StarClan seems to be a much smaller part of their lives. While not as strict as LichenClan, the belief in RedwoodClan that StarClan guides them is pervasive and she finds herself enchanted by the idea that it's not that way all over. She is also trying to find out how they tolerate denning underground...
War. Silkfeather is not a fan of the war in principle, but neither is she opposed to it. She sees it as a necessary evil in a multitude of ways. Minnowstar has made it no secret that her intent is to wipe her Clan from the face of the island and she wants to protect her home, but she also wants the LichenClan cats to be liberated from their oppressive ruler. War took her mother and very badly wounded her sister so she would just as soon not have to fight, but she isn't going to get that luxury any time soon.
Family. Silkefeather adores her family and would do anything for them. She hardly remembers her father, but she does find herself missing the idea of him she developed from stories told to her by her mother and her aunt. She misses her mother dearly and strives to be the kind of cat she thinks would make Feathernose proud. As the only surviving members of her family, she feels very close to Orchidshade and Sleekfang. Although she doesn't always agree with her sister, she would move heaven and earth to help her. She likes to spend as much time with Orchidshade as her aunt will tolerate, asking her questions about medicine, the tribe or whatever happens to be on her mind at the time.
What are your personal plans for the character?
My big plan for Silkfeather is to have her badly wounded in the next big battle and become a tunnel orphan. She is very interested in other ways of life, so I think it would be interesting to explore the internal conflict she would feel there between staying to learn about the tunnel cats and returning to the family and Clan she is so loyal to. Ultimately, I think she would turn up back in RedwoodClan, but she may linger in the tunnels or return to them at some point.
Especially once she realizes that the cats in the tunnel are aiding a rebellion in LichenClan, I could see Silkfeather sticking around to help in any way she can. She knows that her family are probably worried about this, but she would see helping LichenClan in this way as a very important step towards ending the war that is putting her home in danger.
I also think it would be interesting to explore her relationship with religion. With family that serves as a medicine cat, there is plenty of reason for her to believe in StarClan, she just can't quite get herself to believe in the same way that other cats seem to be able to do.
It's also always fun to have a plot where she's oblivious to someone having a crush on her. After she is recovered enough to return home, I hope to see her establish friendships all over the island as she chases her lifestyle-related curiosity.
Character name: Storm that Rumbles like Distant Roar (have talked with Moony, would be changing name to Gale that Foretells Distant Storm, aka Gale)
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)? AND What are your personal plans for the character? (combining the two sections as both mix together and don't want to ramble too much, hope that's alright and i can go more in depth anywhere if needed <3 )
OH MAN the real question is how won't he? I'd plan on getting this mans as involved with the plots going on right now as I am physically able. Want to get him in before things really start taking off, so I'm jumping on the bandwagon now. I'd love the chance to get involved with the tribe plots personally, and Gale's built like an important plot boi that was sadly not shown interest until now c':
Gale never trusted Creek fully, perhaps warming to him before his sudden death, but now that there's another young, inexperienced teller? Could could the tribe trust Fog's word? Could the ancestors really have approved? He isn't sure whether this is the path the tribe should be heading upon. He was wary of the fog and the destruction it brought, wondering if it was a sign. But will he do anything about the current state of the tribe, after sitting on his grandmother's secret for so long? Well, maybe not before, but now that trusted prey hunter Sumac is standing up and voicing similar, albeit more confident doubts...? Maybe that's the push he needs.
Overall I think Gale'd be uncertain, stuck in his head, very much the cat that worries but never does anything to try and fix what's worrying him. He just lets it eat him up. Talks himself out of things on the daily, often he wants to say something that he just can't work up the courage to say, or his mouth works faster than his brain and he words things clumsily. I wouldn't describe him as particularly shy, just super nervous when in social settings. If anything, he talks too much. He wouldn't have a tendency to spill secrets by accident, but he would overshare and not especially know what is and isn't a faux pas.
He knows information that could've been used to disrupt Creek's legitimacy and by extension, can be used against Fog. He also knows he's the only one who knows (at least, he thinks he is pfft), so the judgement is on his shoulders. Gale wouldn't be particularly malicious with wanting to reveal what Rain told him, he simply wants to do what's best for the tribe. He never wanted cats to know before, because a white lie is better than the horrible truth, but if he has to? If it means they can appoint an older, trusted, more experienced teller? One that might save the tribe? Just like his grandmother, he'd do anything.
He was terrified Creek might follow in Rain's pawsteps, with the famine and coyotes and sickness in the past moons, so he only eats the prey he helped catch, or he eats nothing at all. Even though Gale is a nervous cat, he would value life experience a lot, and highly respect cats older than him as well as his peers. He is knowledgeable and knows more than one might expect him to with his slightly scatterbrained demeanor, but he's an easy learner and always willing to help out. Notably, he would have taken on more prey-huntery roles with how scarce food is, helping and learning more from the hunters he patrols with as well as watching out for predators. Maybe he even suggested they eat the coyotes because why not maybe they taste good???
Gale would be generally traditional, and not especially trust the clans/outsiders or want help from them, saying the tribe has survived on their own for so long. He hears of all the wars and infighting over there and does not want to be involved in it. He does appreciate their help with herbs and such... but knows that there's always strings attached, and worries the tribe might take on more than they can handle—their safety should be their first priority, not worrying about the clan cats. He takes the washing away of the sandbar as a sign, saying they should cut ties with the larger island, and keep to themselves.
He'd be very close with his sister, wanting to protect her more than anything, the way he wasn't able to help his father and grandmother. That's one of the main reasons he became a stone guard—he'd lay down his life for his tribemates and fight for those he cares about. As for relationships aside from his sister, I can see him being friendly but not especially close to anyone his age or otherwise. Other than to her and perhaps his cousins/other kin, he's an enigma.
I'd plan for him to get in contact with Sumac and the other "rebels," to test the waters with them and see what they're all about. Also, put out feelers with his other tribemates for their general opinions. I can't imagine anyone taking much interest in this wallflower-y, rambling stone guard, but he'd keep bothering seeking out Sumac until he picked a side. I don't see Gale revealing what Rain did at all soon, as thinking about itmakes him ill, and knows how upsetting and dangerous the information is. He wants to know Sumac's vision first, to know they both have the same intentions.
Gale's old enough to know what Sumac's family is like, and would not trust him easily. While he might be mistrustful, he'd also be very easy to manipulate. He thinks he's being careful, but really, kindness and time (a lot of it) is all he needs to open up. Fairly conflicting traits on paper, but the main cause of it is his inability to discern a cat's intentions, true or not. He does not read tone very well, and isn't especially perceptive to the more subtle aspects of communication. I can easily see him being used, especially by silver-tongued and slightly shady Sumac.
I'd also love for him to forge a friendship or some kinda relationship with Smoke, possibly telling him what his grandfather did if he thinks it might... ease his mind to know the truth. It depends on what Kaz would want for Smoke, so I'll definitely be a-plottin. Knowing what he does, he'd feel sorry for Smoke's family, but he'd have mixed feelings about Black Bear himself. He knew what he did was for the greater good of the tribe... but was it worth it? He's aware it's hypocritical of him, but there are lines he thinks no cat should cross. Perhaps, that was why Black Bear's descendants were cursed? Maybe the ancestors were punishing them now, with all this.
As Gale starts taking more of an interest in politics I'd like him to gain more confidence in himself, but not really realize how much he might be missing/how little power he really has and knowledge he really knows. But trick himself into thinking he is more than that, possibly with the help of other cats. I think a well-intentioned but misguided cat would be interesting to write getting carried away with something that's more than they bargained for. Especially with the repercussions.
I think he'd be an interesting be wrench thrown into how the tribe's plot is developing. It would totally work with his personality to never tell if needed for the plot—But if Sumac needs a rock solid reason to convince some of the less sure cats that Creek and Fog were never meant to be tellers, and takes a chance on this funny lil stone guard? Well.... Gale might be the man. And if things go south, he's already started down the road to developing his grandmother's paranoia, and may end up more like her than he thought.
