juniper fang
thistle clan
long-hair seal-point she-cat with blue eyes
warrior

Appearance
In comparison to her other siblings, Juniperfang was always the taller sibling. She awkwardly lumbered over them with her willowy form long before her warrior days. Though, over time her body grew to fill into toned muscles and curves, solidified over harsh moons of relentless training. Most of her siblings averaged on the shorter side while the she-cat herself stood among the taller cats of Thistleclan. Even more so, her stature is embellished by her long, feathery coat that fills in each gap and crevice. Typically, the she-cat does well to keep it maintained. Juniperfang believes that her appearance is a reflection of her merit, and aspires to maintain the presentation of a disciplined warrior.
Juniperfang's pelt itself is a bi-color seal point consisting of creamy whites, light cafe browns, and a darker chocolate brown. The edges are accented with small dabs of dark that radiate with their gradient appeal in exclusive places such as the ears, beside the eyes, and elbows/knees. Her tail is long and plumy, to accompany the length of her ear feathers and whiskers. Both of these are light and delicate, often tussled by the simplest of winds. Beneath the coat is a relatively proportioned frame where not one feature stands out among the others.
Juniperfang is a consistent and enveloped package. Her head is broad and square, accented by the long wisps of fur that fade from her cheeks into the mane of her chest. Her ears are elegant swoops that stem from the apex of her skull and kiss the earth with their tussling fans (her paws mimic this in nature, long furs between her toes that she works hard to keep tidy). With watchful veils, her almond-hooded orbs are a deep and stormy blue, often draped with scorn and skepticism. In contrast, the she-cat's nose is a pale pink that travels down to hue her gums and paw pads.
Lastly, the way that Juniperfang carries herself is well postured. She is consistently poised and erect. You will not find this she-cat buckling or slouching. Her chin is held high to dismissively glean beneath her.

Personality
+ elegant, devoted, loyal, passionate
- repressed, self-righteous, cold, over-bearing, resentful
~ skeptical
As she carries herself, Juniperfang is elegant, though, the more critical eye can color this for what it is: repressed. This sense of stoic self repression applies to all aspects of her life, from the brutal calls of battle or a simple exchange beneath the sun. Though formal-but not too formal-the the she-cat's words carry an air of pretentiousness.
Because of this constant dedication to maintain her ego, Juniperfang is skeptical of others that do not fit her ideologies. She is especially skeptical of those who try to enter her circle- especially toms. Juniperfang has a very close-knit group of friends that she has deemed worthy of her inner circle and is suspicious of anyone who exists outside or tries to infiltrate said cricle.
Overall, Juniperfang is mostly skeptical of everyone's intentions. She typically assumes the worst in others and that they are self-serving. Specific qualities that perpetuate her judgement are characters she deems disrespectful to hierarchy, order, and justice.
Alongside this self-righteous moral highroad, Juniperfang is a devoted worshiper of Starclan. Yet, her faith barely breaks surface-level understandings. Juniperfang does not like to think of the abstract and is quickly overwhelmed by anything that may seem heretical. Yet, when faced with such cause she is quick to shut down the conversation rather than honor it, even for sociability's sake. Her dismissive nature leads to the next contributing factor in Juniperfang's personality.
This molly is far from confrontational, and overall avoidant. She despises conflict despite her vast array of disagreeableness. However, you can quickly catch her views and retorts seeping into her gal-pal gossip. Juniperfang often relies on her friend's support to hear her concerns and frustrations. These frustrations are typically delivered through a snarky murmur or quip.
Since Juniperfang is already comfortable and has an established set of friendships, her companionship is primarily unavailable. However, it is not because Juniperfang dislikes other cats and is unsociable, but rather, she is incredibly passionate with an overflowing bowl of love and dedication to those that she truly cares for- she shows this by being helpful and doing acts of service at every beck and call. She simply loves too much to love too many and the more interpersonal relationships she has, the more consumed she is by this dedication. However, this can come across overwhelming or intense to those who are more free-spirited and light-hearted. Juniperfang often struggles with disagreements between her friends during conflict, coming across overbearing. If the issues conflicts with her personal values and is not resolved, she will cut them out. Juniperfang has incredibly high standards and will not waste her time on those she deems unworthy. Even if deep down, she does love them. Yet, do not mistaken this for a small kerfuffle. It takes a devastating difference for Juniperfang to pull the den-slam such as: adultry, abandonment of family or clan (ironically), reckless killing, refuting starclan, or cowardice in the face of danger.
With Juniperfang's vast array of displeasing qualities, one may question whether it is worth involving yourself with Juniperfang. Firstly, Juniperfang is a devoted loyalist to her clan and friends alike. She will lay down her life with absolute dedication to protecting her loved ones and beliefs as a member of Thistle clan. Although Juniperfang is not a social limelight, she is talented through hard, smart work and dedication in the arts of warrior ways. Specifically, she is an excellent fighter fit with endurance and strategy. She is also a great teacher and has had successful encounters in delivering lessons to apprentices and other warriors alike. Additionally, Juniperfang is good at delivering earnest compliments. When she sees something in someone, Juniperfang's delivery and ability to hype up her loved ones is flattering. Because Juniperfang has the skill to back up her judgments, it makes others feel special to be recognized by her. However, upon further examination, most that have grown truly close the Juniperfang have seen her, monsters and all. It is common for someone to idolize Juniperfang, only to quickly learn they would want to be anything but her, trapped inside her own walls of judgement and self-doubt. This is likely why she keeps her inner circle so close.
It cannot be ignored that the largest contributing factor to Juniperfang's critical tongue and disagreeable personality is her imposter syndrome. Despite her feats and accomplishments, she always feels out shined by her male counterparts. Part of Juniperfang's critical reproving is reflected on herself ten times harder than any one individual. In addition, she manifests a lot of her self blame and short comings into recurring traits which bubble periodically, such as resentment and spite. Thankfully, her friends are well-aware of Juniperfang's shortfalls and love her regardless, as she is much easier to read than she aspires to be. There is little mystery with Juniperfang's air.
History
The seasons had been cruel when Juniperkit's bundle first christened the wordless leaf-bare. Thistleclan rejoiced in its blessing. Juniperkit was one of the last born of a great litter. In total, there were six: Yewkit (wish ), Firkit (Egotistic ), Birchkit (lightning ), Cherrykit (@blitz), herself, and Sprucekit (storm ) — all in respective order.
Being one of six, Juniperkit had to keep up with the rest. Yewkit and Firkit were the most dictatorial. Meanwhile, Cherrykit herself seemed easy-natured and quickly fit in with the tumbling boys. Juniperfang struggled in the shadows. In the den, Juniperkit was frequently teased by the louder voices. She spent the remaining time, until her warrior days, insecure about her height. Besides her outward appearance, it was obvious from her male peers that Juniperkit had a single treasured quality, the ability to form and cherish life.
When playing pretend war Juniperkit was often assigned to be the damsel queen in distress with Birchkit, small balls of moss tucked beneath her tummy. She would comfort the moss with soothing cues until embarrassed by her feminine nature as it became not just a roll but a permanent assignment. "Why can't Cherrykit play the queen?" to which they would retort, "Because she's going to be a warrior." Perhaps Juniperkit was teased for her feminine features. The dynamic did not last long. She was soon left to swallow her maternal instincts in light of her more demanding value, pride.
As they grew older Juniperkit developed general distaste for her siblings but grew closer to her father, Minkfoot, and her sister Birchkit. Yewkit and Firkit were big talkers. Where their charm easily manipulated the masses, Juniperkit found it deceptive. She did not see any sort of gain from fake interactions and was off-put but their abilities as wordsmiths, especially with what she judged to be empty compliments. Cherrykit and Juniperkit were simply too different. If there was one sibling that Juniperkit still treasured closely, Birchkit was often a sounding board for her apparent frustrations. Thankfully, instead of bullying Birchkit for being even more feminine than she, Juniperkit extended herself to create a deep bond and nurture the characteristics in Birchkit, that she herself could not face.
While the others played, Juniperkit spent most of her time as her father's shadow around camp. Their relationship wasn't particularly chatty, but Minkfoot was gentle and understanding with her qualms. He also encouraged her in whatever passions and interests the young kit developed and held much knowledge.
At 6 moons of age, Juniperkit was apprenticed under Hawktail (@catalysta ). At the time, Hawktail was already a seasoned mentor. Their relationship was efficacious at grooming her skills as a fighter, but in other ways, such as social skills and dealing with conflict, Junierpaw became avoidant. She easily caved under Hawktail's regime due to her respect but would often project this harshness and pretentious attitude onto others. This behavior was likely an outlet for her relentless compromising. Juniperpaw's father was generally suspicious of Hawktail's influence on her and found himself losing the kind and gentle daughter he embraced. Unlike others, Minkfoot acknowledged Junierpaw for her natural maternal instinct and fighting spirit. He understood the two could co-exist and was disappointed that only her will to conquer feasted while her inherent nurturing nature dissipated.
Juniperpaw quickly progressed. While others spent time sharing tongues, Hawktail and Juniperpaw were battle-practicing in a nearby glade, likely to have been there since the first cracks of dawn. During this time, Juniperpaw also developed a crush on the warrior Stagflight (budgie ). Though he barely knew she existed, Juniperpaw would always volunteer for patrols he led and find small excuses to cross paths.
At 11 moons, Juniperpaw was the first of the litter to receive her warrior name Juniperfang, for her ability as a graceful fighter. However, Juniperfang was not elated. She suspected her early warriorship, more than merit, was to expedite Hawktail's availability as a mentor. Morningkit had just reached six moons, and Hawktail was a prime mentor. Juniperfang still carries this suspicion and fails to truly acknowledge that her early warriorship was due to genuine reasons.
A few moons passed, and Minkfoot was killed in battle against a band of foxes. Juniperfang was on patrol during this occurrence and returned to only an empty shell of what was once her father. Cherrybite and Spruceshade had failed. In distaste, she cast the two from her life and held onto this resentment. If she was defending him instead, Juniperfang believes Minkfoot would not have died. To this day, she still talks to the spirit of her father and mourns.
Moons passed, and Juniperfang's previous mentor was eventually awarded deputy. Juniperfang was proud of her former mentor and felt pride by association. But, Hawktail was as demanding as ever. Juniperfang worked relentlessly at the deputy's side with aspirations that the eventual Hawkstar would someday choose her for deputy. It seemed natural, considering that she was one of the youngest apprentices to be made a warrior and a prized pupil of Hawktail.
A rogue by the name of Curiosity began stalking and threatening Thievingstar. In a patrol, he nearly murdered the young apprentice Nettlepaw and killed the warriors Cederflame and Crowfrost. Hawktail made it out alive and decided to step down from her position as deputy. Juniperfang experienced mixed feelings, angry at the rogues and hungry for revenge, but a small glimmer amongst her starved for the role that Hawktail relinquished. Juniperfang felt like naturally, this would be her chance to rise as deputy. However, Thievingstar chose her brother, Firfoot, instead. Juniperfang was devastated.
Storms brought heavy water in their bellies; It coursed through the camp's tunneling veins. The flood hit Thistleclan and ravaged their camp, destroying their tunnels and sending them from their homes. Juniperfang prioritized getting her apprentice, Tawnypaw, to safety. After assuring Tawnpaw was on dry land, Juniperfang returned to the flood site and led the other cats to high ground. Their home was now inhabitable, Thistleclan relocated to the Great Owl Tree. After the flood events, in a fit of rage Thievingstar demoted Firfoot from deputy. In his place, she chose the warrior, and Juniperfang's crush, Stagflight.
During the season of 2021, Juniperfang experienced great turmoil in multiple fractions of her life. Compared to her other siblings, Juniperfang was always closest to Birchsong. Though they hadn't been spending as much time together, Birchsong pulled Juniperfang aside one day to confess something important. It felt like no time had passed, still rich in the intimacy they had shared since kithood. However, things took a dark turn when Birchsong unveiled she was pregnant with the rogue, Oleander's kits. Juniperfang was upset, immediately growing distant and cold. Her sister's actions were in direct conflict with all of her values. This news troubled Juniperfang greatly.
Despite dealing with the frustration of failing to be nominated deputy again, Juniperfang wanted to spend more time with Stagflight. Her interest in him trumped her resentment. In the spur of the moment, Juniperfang invited Stagflight on an outing. Together they went on a hunting "date" where they ran into a fox and redirected it away from camp.
Tawnypaw graduated, and Juniperfang was assigned the apprentice Ivorypaw (Akura ). Though she wasn't a particularly warm she-cat, Juniperfang developed a love of Ivorypaw and her dedicated, passionate nature. Ivorypaw was a hasty apprentice, but their time together brought Juniperfang a lot of joy, proud to see her pupil grow into herself.
While living at the Great Owl Tree, rogues seized the Thistle Clan camp. Redwood Clan sent a patrol to Thistle Clan. Juniperfang guided them to Thievingstar where they requested an alliance between Redwood Clan and Thistle Clan against Lichen Clan. Figuring that they sensed Thistle Clan's vulnerability, Juniperfang defended Thievingstar and her ultimate decision to reject the alliance. Though, doubts simmered that with the rise of rogues, worse was yet to come.
In retaliation, Thievingstar sent patrols to fight the rogues and reclaim Thistle Clan's original camp. Their mission was a success and Thistle Clan returned to their original grounds. Worse did follow. A band of rogues under the kit-snatcher Lily (rain ), were on the rise. Having killed Curiosity, they ambushed the camp and stole one of Birchsong's kits; Birchsong was nowhere to be found. Juniperfang discovered the horrific news from Shadepool, to which she lashed out at him and immediately stormed to Thievingstar. In desperate attempts to find her sister, Juniperfang told Thievingstar everything: The origins of the kits and Birchsong's rogue mate, Oleander. Birchsong stumbled into camp. Immediately Thievingstar confronted her and banished her. In retaliation, the confused Birchsong struck at Thievingstar. Immediately, Juniperfang tackled her to the ground, hoping to save her from Thievingstar's more gruesome vengeance. With Thievingstar's orders, Juniperfang escorted Birchsong out of camp, repressing the guilt which, like a tempest storm, thundered in her belly.
Lily's rogues joined forces with Lichen Clan and attacked Thistle Clan. In the battle, Juniperfang fought alongside Ivorypaw outside the nursery where Thievingstar lay. They fought valiantly against the warriors Flintheart (kaz ) and his apprentice Heronpaw (fallenreaper ). Their battle was cut short by the blood-spiking screams from the belly of the nursery. Thievingstar died, exchanging her life for the kits of Squirreltail (Raven~ ) and Graygaze (bombora ). Juniperfang blamed herself; It should have been her. She had no future in leadership, and she had failed at her one true, self-assigned duty, which grounded her in the chaos of life: To protect their leadership.
After the events of Thievingstar's death, Juniperfang fell into a serious depression. Having fought in the battle, her apprentice Ivorypaw earned the name Ivoryleap; It worked out better this way as Juniperfang was primarily absent. She continued through the motions physically but was a ghost of her former self.
The blood moon hung into the sky, Stagstar found Juniperfang weak in the forests, her body thinning and fur neglected. There, he stood beside her, held her, and invited her to join his den. During this time, Juniperfang realized she'd never become deputy. To meet what was once her aspirations would mean the demise of someone she cherished. Moving past the dreams of her former self, Juniperfang started a new life beside Stagstar, to love, support, and cherish him as not only the leader, but her mate.
In the season of 2023, Juniperfang was pregnant with Stagstar's kits. After birth, only one survived. On a stormy night just days after her kitting, Stagstar showed up to the nest with an abandoned child. Without further questions, Juniperfang agreed to take her in; Together they had two children once more Pinekit (Egotistic ), named for the forests in which she was found and Bramblekit (wish ), named for the strong, guarding walls that sheltered their home.
