The Apostles is a warrior cats roleplay based in northern Wisconsin. On Lake Superior, the wild cats have made the Apostle Islands their home. It is on these islands - Rocky Island and South Twin Island - that the clan and tribe cats have lived in a peace and harmony that ebbs and flows with the tide.
But as the tides turn, so does the truce that binds them to one another; and as the water raises, a darkness follows, an evil that will end in bloodshed and violence.
IC DUE DATE: APRIL 3nd, 2024 APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 22nd, 2024
LITTER CONTEXT
Honeybun was a lowly rogue, born to a former LichenClan cat who fled her home, and Poppy was the promising heir of Lily's rogue kingdom. It was love at first fight.
They first met as Lily was gathering recruits for her rogue pack. Seeing an opportunity to fight more, Honeybun left his mother and sister Sugarplum behind to join the rogues. While he trained alongside the rogues, Honeybun became smitten with Poppy and decided to stay beside her in Faulty Medical Practice. To him, there would be nothing sweeter than a chance to fight at her side.
Lily led the group with her three adoptive kits at her side, Hawthorn, Oleander, and Poppy. Slowly, her favors shifted, as Poppy lied and cheated to convince Lily that Hawthorn was innocent and a coward. As Poppy was given more and more power among the rogues, Hawthorn grew increasingly disillusioned. Tension brewed between siblings. After the final battle against LichenClan, the rogues fell apart. Poppy's brother Hawthorn murdered Lily, and in retaliation Poppy killed him, thereby destroying all that remained of her patched-together family. It was the first and only time Poppy had ever killed another cat, a memory that haunted her. Meanwhile, Honeybun got lost in the chaos of the fighting. But he refused to stop looking for Poppy. Even when a blizzard raged, he kept searching and found her weathering the storm alone in a small den in Welcome Home Valentine.
That night Honeybun swore his life and love to Poppy and promised to see her ambitions come true. They moved to The Northern Peninsula, and Poppy started to form her plan. She gathered like-minded rogues and promised them safety. Celandine they would be called, and like the weed, they would spread to each corner of the island until it belonged to them alone. Next, Poppy elected a few to positions in her inner circle. Among them was Honeybun taking up the position of Commander in Say That I'm Your Favorite Preacher alongside his sister Sugarplum. He was Poppy's favorite after all, and the only tom she had ever trusted besides her kin. As Commander, Honeybun trained the rogues to hunt and fight and made sure to keep them in line.
The rogues stayed silent for moons, waiting for the perfect time to strike. Just as Poppy secures a pivotal alliance with Firfoot, ThistleClan’s deputy, she falls pregnant with Honeybun's kits in Foxy Poppy, and an opportunity presents itself.
FUTURE PLOT PLANS
While initially perturbed by her pregnancy, Poppy has lived her life making the best of otherwise unwanted situations. She will aim to make her litter useful to her in a way that her sworn rogues cannot - she will utilize them to infiltrate the clans and finally unlock their secrets. Of course, using her children as pawns is a rational, logical thing to theorize, but after they are born, Poppy will struggle with separating maternal instinct and genuine love from the challenging truth of her litter's destinies.
As they age, Poppy will do her best to develop the loyalty of her kittens. She will train them and show them affection in equal measure, but only to accomplish her goals of furthering their bond with her and channeling their distrust of anyone else. Finally, when she thinks they are ready, she will tell them their true mission. They are to infiltrate each one of the clans, preying on the warrior code's rules about aiding kittens in need. They are to complete their training as apprentices, and when they graduate as warriors, they are to return to her and share the knowledge that they learned during their training.
POPPY'S PARENTING STYLE
As a parent, Poppy will sporadically shift between loving and harsh. She will raise the kittens as she was raised, showing them kindness sometimes and cruelty at others. She will pit each kitten against the others, aiming to create a strong rivalry between siblings that will fuel them to compete for her affection. She will act as though she favors whoever she is alone with, but when with the group, she will never reveal her favorites, instead allowing their accomplishments to be what draws her attention towards one and away from another. She will teach them how to fight and hunt, but only the basics, as she plans for each to grow much more skilled after their kithood moons while within the clans. No one is to be trusted except for her, a fact that she will repeat over and over, showing it however she can whenever she gets the chance.
HONEYBUN'S PARENTING STYLE
Raised by a strict mother with harsh rules, Honeybun will do the exact opposite. He'll treat the kits more like friends or siblings than children. Honeybun will be a carefree parent, letting the kits run amok and only reigning them in when Poppy asks him to. When it comes to a choice between his mate or his kits, he'll always pick Poppy. Honeybun lives to fight and will try to impart this same love of combat and violence to the boys. He'll encourage them to push themselves and go too far in fights, often with bloody results.
THREAD IDEAS
Poppy teaches her kittens how to fight and hunt from a young age, expecting them to practice on each other.
After hearing that one of the rogues has been picking on his children, Honeybun teaches his kits how to stand up for themselves.
Poppy takes her kits to a clan border so that they can witness clan cat hatred for rogues firsthand.
Honeybun tries to teach the kits the rules his mother instilled in him and he gets most of them wrong. Even young kits can notice the contradictions and flimsy in what he's saying
Honeybun pits two of the kits against each other in a playfight that goes too far and he ends up encouraging violent behavior.
After each kit has proven himself worthy of her trust and respect, Poppy assigns each to a different clan to infiltrate.
SUGGESTIONS
We want at least some of the kits to eventually return to Poppy and the rogues. While some may become integrated with their clan and stay, the plans listed in their application regarding their relationship with their future clan will be considered when deciding on who we want to adopt the kits. Please specify whether you'd prefer them to stay with their new clan, return to Poppy, or something else.
RULES
Kits are not first come first serve. Members must fill out the application to claim a kit.
Deadline for applications 11:59 pm EST on March 22nd (may extend if necessary).
If you go inactive (no IC posts for a month) or leave the site, your kit will be placed back up for adoption.
Please don't kill the kit without discussing it with us first! We want to see the kits active and living their lives. If it's a lack of interest rather than a narrative choice, we would love to re-adopt the kit.
Which clan each character goes to is NOT up to the adopter but will be decided by me and staff with input from each clan's HRs. You may include your preference within the application, but the ultimate decision will be in the staff's hands as to better develop the site plot. It is very important that you state your plans regarding the character's future loyalty to the rogues vs. their assigned clan to better let staff make this decision.

Personality Ideas: - Jokester Springtail finds humour and entertainment in stupid, child-like endeavours, and will often be around setting pranks and chatting light-heartedly without a care in the world. He finds much humour in everyday life, and it's hard to dampen his spirits, unless you happen to be one of his brothers whilst the parents are around. Also, god forbid you have a fluffy tail, because that's a plaything.
- Socialite/Extrovert Need someone to talk about your day? Want to bitch about your relatives? How about a playfight? Springtail's your guy! The kit is always up for conversation, and will probably approach you from out of nowhere to talk about this and that. He thrives on social contact, and goes to find others just to talk with - hence why he often chatters with cats in the clans, or outside of Celandine. It just comes naturally to him.
- Rebellious Springtail thrives in rebellion and breaking the rules. He'll defy the punishments his parents set, rushing out in the middle of the nice to prance around under the stars, meeting other cats and making himself known. He really gets a kick out of it.
- Competitive No thanks to his parents, Springtail has a competitive streak a mile wide, and wants to win. How to win? Who cares! As long as he wins. This abrasiveness and need to win will definitely cause an issue with his brothers, because he just has to win, to be the favourite, to get the prize, whatever!
Plot Plans: From the beginning, Springtail would be a mischevious one. Not necessarily geared towards malicious violence or ill intent, he finds more entertainment in stupid pranks and troublesome deeds. Often, you won't find him in Celandine's camp, having fled to prance around the territory, mess around at the borders and making friends with the younger apprentices he finds. He's a social cat, so making these "friends" is essential for him, otherwise he might just go insane. Any punishments given to him for these breakouts would fall upon deaf ears.
Despite this, though, Springtail's loyalty would shine through. He'd train with his brothers, basking in their competitive atmosphere and almost thriving on the stress it caused, although it would certainly sour any relationships he might have gained with them. When it came time to moving to the clan, Springtail would approach it with open paws. He'd want to make friends, but also to gain the approval and move the ranks in Celandine, to impress his parents and outshine his brothers. However, his heart isn't made of stone. Whilst he'd never truly grow attached to the clan, knowing he was never supposed to stay, it's very likely he'd grow attached to the cats and friends there (ideally, he'd have cats his age to become friends with to show this). His forays to the borders of other clans wouldn't stop, but he'd focus more on his assigned clan.
When it comes time to leave the clans as a warrior, and return to Poppy, Springtail would leave. He knew from the beginning that he would. However, the thoughts of the clan would never leave, and he'd return to the borders often, keeping links to those friends he made.
How he goes from there depends largely on the plot. If given the attention, praise, and whatever promises needed, Springtail could turn his back from the clans, losing his connection to his friends and viewing them slowly as enemies, but this would need to be supported by his parents, and by "winning" over siblings - though him turning into a monster could scare a lot of others, even his parents. He could remain the oddball brother who is there "for the ride" but is never taken seriously, which would seriously hurt him, and might drive him away. How it grows depends on what happens, but I do like the idea of a blood-hardened Springtail meeting an old friend and realising he does miss what he left behind.
Thread ideas: 1. As an older kit, Springtail breaks out and runs into a new apprentice in one of the other clans, and chooses to play around with them. 2. Springtail catches one of his brothers in a scare/prank, and makes fun of them when they react negatively towards it, calling them a coward. 3. Trying to suck up to Poppy, Springtail tries to play with her and boast about how he's better than the others.
[ My first thing here... I am excited! Thank you in advance for your time in reading this. ]
Member name: Vidione ;; I will be applying for Lacewing
Personality Ideas: I can see Lacewing being more of a quieter type, with excellent observation skills and a thoughtful manner, being more of a manipulative type of character. Primarily preferring to stand back and watch others until he judges things for himself. I can imagine that despite his almost quiet and standoffish nature, he would be more independent and introverted. I can see him acting friendlier if a situation calls for it, but preferring to keep to himself, even among his family. I can also see him being incredibly good at acting. I can see him having a somewhat normal-ish relationship with his family, but that can vary depending on the personalities of his siblings. I can see him showing immense respect for his parents, and he will likely want to follow in his mother's pawsteps. Despite this I can also see him attempting and possibly succeeding in manipulating his brothers.
Plot Plans[/b]: I can see him wanting to learn everything in the clan he ends up in, trying to learn everything and anything that he can. He will eagerly listen to those in power and those with useful things to him with which to teach him, he will likely eagerly listen to any legends or myths the elders may have. I can see him either eventually aiming to become a clan leader or manipulating things from behind the scenes, or maybe convincing his brothers to take over the clans that they went to, he will likely do his best to keep in touch with them, likely usingwhat they find out when they have the meetings with their mother.
Thread ideas: three thread ideas can include (1) them hearing stories or something similar from their parents about the life in Celadine. (2) maybe a training session with siblings, or even a playfight with siblings while their parents watch. (3) possible session with the brothers interacting and conversing about their missions.
Grasshopper is the type to sit back, watch the world unfurl, and then exploit its weaknesses. Born the smallest of the litter in a cut-throat society, he learns at a very young age that everyone around him has the full expectation for him to be weak, dull, and easy to break. Grasshopper accepts these first impressions of him without batting an eye as he knows everyone else’s judgements to be inaccurate and their own undoing. After all, everyone overlooks the runt and that’s exactly what Grasshopper wants them to do.
This little tom has the power to compartmentalize trivial things like pain, anguish, and suffering. His own pain only fuels his drive to be better than his opponent. Anguish is simply a sign of weakness one should rid themselves of. And suffering is all a part of nature so accepting it as such will help you grow stronger. There is not much Grasshopper wouldn’t do to get what he wants and when his mind is set on something he will work tirelessly to achieve it no matter how long it takes.
Grasshopper adapts well to whatever surrounding he is thrown in thanks to being born under rogue guidance. There is always food to find somewhere and if not, there’s always someone who you can steal it from instead.
Plot Plans:
Grasshopper will love his siblings in his own way but ultimately views them as competition. He has the complex of a cat who thinks he will always win; at least in the long-term perspective, and feels his brothers are in the way of his path to achieve such goals.
Once Grasshopper understands his mother’s mission for him, he will accept the responsibility and let it guide every decision and intention. He will play the fool or scholar; the strong or weak; whatever is needed of him to get what he wants or achieve what his mother asks of him. Though not a people pleaser, he will do all that he can to prove himself better than his siblings by any means necessary.
Once a part of a clan, Grasshopper will sit back and watch how they do things and attempt to befriend those considered high in rank if at all possible. He will take particular interest in patrol routines and personal habits to figure out weaknesses within the clan and relay such information to his mother. My intention is to have Grasshopper remain loyal to Poppy however should the opportunity to gain power within the clan he exist in arise, his allegiance may shift to better suit his own personal goals/greed.
That being said, it is unlikely he will sway from Poppy's path but a slim possibility and one that would be discussed OOC with lightning and captain.
Thread ideas:
1) Grasshopper and his siblings tussle in front of their parents. After losing the fight, Grasshopper seeks revenge in the dead of night while the rest of his family sleeps.
2) Grasshopper has a moment with Poppy that leads him to believe he is her chosen child however after ease-dropping on her conversation with one of his siblings, he openly confronts his mother about her choices in the ‘chosen child’.
3) Grasshopper pretends to be injured after joining a clan and continues to play ill to befriend the medicine cat in the hopes of gaining their secrets.

Member name: Silverfire - For Lacewing
Personality Ideas: + Intelligent, observant, charming, adaptable, and silver-tongued.
- Womanizer, egomaniac, manipulative, battle hungry, and vain.
From a very young age, Lacewing is going to think himself the best of the litter. Seeing himself as the most unique of the litter since he is the only one with his father’s coat, he will become vain and arrogant very quickly, which won’t be helped by Poppy acting like he’s the favorite when they’re alone.
Despite this, however, he’s going to be incredibly sharp and observant, traits he will more than likely be taught to hone by his mother.
As he grows and is sent to the clans, he will be forced to become adaptable, something that he will culture as he grows old enough to become attracted to mollies. This attraction, and any attention from a molly he gets, will pull him from simply vain, to an egomaniac. He’ll believe he deserves the attention of mollies. He’ll use his manipulative ways to get them to fall for him.
This, in turn, leads to him seeing little value in actually caring about most she-cats. He will never find them weak or incapable, just… not valuable enough to him.
Despite all of that, he has inherited his father’s desire to fight, and he does so gladly. If he’s not looking for mollies, he’ll happily throw himself into a fight so long as he doesn’t have a chance of dying.
Plot Plans:
Note: I’d really, really prefer him not to go to TC because I would like to plot with whoever goes to TC with Cinderfeather!
From the moment Lacewing steps paw into the clan he is sent to, he is going to want to leave. Seeing himself as Poppy’s favorite, the shock of being looked down upon by even a few cats is going to cause him to despise the clan he is in. Despite this, he won’t actually leave until his warrior ceremony, in which he will most likely leave that night. The amount of rules is also going to bug him, and he’ll never truly fit into clan life, believing he deserves so much more.
However, he not outright abandon the clans. I plan for him to realize how easily manipulated some clan cats are and to use that to his advantage. He’ll be a massive flirt, one who is only there to sleep around and ditch. I can easily see him getting into at least two separate relationships at once, if not more, just because he thinks he deserves it. I can see him accidentally having kits and then dipping, as he doesn’t care to sit and raise kits. I’d like this to cause him issues down the line, perhaps ending in him getting scarred.
He’s never going to be undyingly loyal Poppy. He’ll fight for her, sure, and he’ll follow orders, but die for her? She’s not nearly as important as him (in his mind), and therefore not worth dying for. It’s very likely that he will spend more time wandering around, looking for one of the three “f”s than he will listening to his mother.
He’s going to be a member of Celandine, and will return, but he will hold no loyalty to them, ready to dip out whenever the going gets tough.
Eventually, I do plan on his hedonism to catch up with him, though that is far, far down the line.
Thread ideas: Thread 1: Lacewing asks Honeybun and Poppy about their scars and, without a filter, calls them ugly.
Thread 2: Lacewing comes across one of his siblings while they’re in the clans and acts like he knows nothing about them, insulting them to their face.
Thread 3: After returning to Celandine and talking to Poppy, the pair get into an argument about how reckless Lacewing is being by hanging around the clan borders.
Member Name: Ego/Egotistic Character of Choice: Weevil Personality + Plot Plans: positive traits: dutiful, fair, charming neutral traits: pragmatic, detached, frank. negative traits: arrogant, conformist, impulsive.
First impressions were never his strong suit, and so many outsiders' first impressions will perceive him to be a cocky, cold, and dishonorable youth. And in many ways, he is those things. Weevil is undoubtedly arrogant, unarguably detached, and unquestionably pragmatic to the point of callousness, yet many would be hard-pressed to suggest he did not earn the right to his cockiness or that his pragmatism and detachment are not necessary. What one might find most surprising about him, however, is that he is nothing if not fair.
Weevil does not mock others over minor insults, yet one may not know it for how tactless his tongue is. He speaks frankly and openly and leaves little room for niceties. His penchant for sarcasm and dry wit are further traits that earn him few kind words, yet he does not view this as a negative. Honesty is of utmost importance to Weevil. He cannot stomach being lied to, nor does he lie without reason, openly frowning upon those who do and deeming their actions cowardly and those who mince words to be individuals unable to back their beliefs with tooth and claw.
Yet to those who can get beyond his mocking nature they will find a cat who is undoubtedly charming, charismatic and an easy winner of loyal friends. Weevil, for all his lack of decorum, is a cat who thrives in environments that do not require social aptitude. He is fond friends of strong fighters, well-loved by his subordinates, and has no trouble earning the respect of others—yet he is not above condescending to those who believe themselves morally superior to him and openly speaks out against views dripping in contradictions.
However, that's not to say that he is not rife with his own. Weevil, for all his views, is a conformist. He does not believe in acting against the expectations of others but feeding wholeheartedly into them—be they the expectations of his family or his enemies, he sees no reason to subvert their view of him. Weevil does not like to think for himself. He enjoys nothing if not to fight; thinking beyond battle tactics is a pastime he would instead do without. And if he must act on behalf of those he deems more intelligent than himself, he does not mind doing their dirty work so long as they ask no more of him.
Even that which he does not wish to do—that he mentally pulls away from to do—he does not combat. Doing so would bring up too many matters he would rather not face, too many hardships he may have caused, or hurts he would rather not think about.
- - -
The Renegade or The Reluctant Soldier The eldest-born and muscle of the group, Weevil, at his core, desires only three things: glory, honor, and acclaim—for himself, for his people, and, most importantly, his family. He is (guiltily) fond of stories drenched in heroics and desires to be one of those striking figures—a name passed down for generations to be remembered, revered, and even worshipped. And so, for himself, he envisions a future rife with bloody conquests, one in which he claims for Celandine a presence deserving not revilement but respect.
Yet for all his desires, Weevil is no killer, nor is he a mastermind. His ambitions are straightforward, the code he lives by far simpler, and he has no interest in manipulation to claim the things he wants despite his family's own affinity. He takes no pleasure in mentally overpowering his peers and would prefer to unman them honestly in combat. Yet should it be asked of him, he would willingly do it, for they are things which he is still capable of doing.
Which is a trait that defines him. Weevil is a tool that does not mind to be used. He finds little comfort in being made to think or make decisions for himself and would much rather be commanded to do those things by others. As such, he behaves as others expect him to and nothing more. A trait he finds immensely useful as someone who does not wish to think that the thingsthey are made to do are evil but honorable and necessary.
For if he must kill, why linger over the morals of it?
Even so, Weevil is not a cat who will ever come to enjoy the act of killing. He will always view it as an unfortunate necessity and find no pleasure in cruelty. In fact, he will openly frown upon it—even going so far as to end it when he catches wind of it. Some would call this mercy; Weevil will view it only as a side effect of his own impulsivity. It never allowed for much in the way of languishing.
I envision Weevil as a coward despite his acts of external courage. He is unable to and does not desire to defy his parents' wishes, even as he grows disillusioned with the cause and its intentions. Even so, he will always yearn to please them and act in tandem with their wishes—and be afraid that to turn back and defy them would put his efforts to waste. At the heart of it, Weevil does not wish to believe he is a bad person or that he was wrong in having done the things he did.
At a young age, Weevil will realize he takes no pleasure in the things that his parents insist he should. To cope with this, he will 'go inside' of himself. He relies heavily on dissociating in unpleasant situations to complete his task, be it harming or killing others. At first, it will be a small thing he does to overcome some unpleasantness. With time, it will become a thing he relies on so heavily he will lose himself to it.
I view him as someone who will be as much loved as he is hated, with a habit of earning the hatred of those who once loved him in particular. This he will portray a strong immunity to, under the guise of feeling no need to change minds that have already been made about him. Yet he will care and be affected dearly for the things they will whisper and say of him, and dislike most of all when he is reminded of those things.
Then, it should be no surprise that Weevil is, in some small part, ashamed of his heritage. When he is assigned his faction and undergoes the process of assimilation, he will find himself, at first, unnerved by the compassion, rules, and order he is met with, and when he looks back upon his own people, he will feel something close to loathing. Even so, he will return to them. He will aid Celandine in its efforts to crush the faction he learned to love—as if to vindicate himself and his own existence. And when the ground that scorned them is razed and cleared, he will vow to rebuild those he betrayed to teach their ways to the rogues, out of respect even to those who turned their noses up at him.
…or maybe he doesn't. It depends on how things go, hehe.
TLDR: Basically, he's a complex guy who tries not to seem complex and is going to have a LOT of regrets but is too afraid face them. Very tragic. We weep for him, truly.
Relationships: w/ Poppy… As much as Weevil will 'love' his mother, they will have very little in common. Weevil views his mother as something unattainable—the leader of a faction of downtrodden rogues, leading a resistance against enemies far larger and stronger than they. He does not intend to be her equal, but he intends to serve her as she expects. I imagine their relationship will be primarily formal. Weevil will always show a rare bit of unease around her, which he shows around few others, and will catch on very quickly to the fact that her love is very much conditional. w/ Honeybun… Honeybun's more relaxed nature will incite fondness from his son, which will allow the two to have a more personal bond than what Weevil will have with his mother. Weevil will enjoy the lessons on combat that his father teaches him, and it will be from his father that he develops a love for it. However, they may always differ in that he may never enjoy cruelty as his father; depending, it may even become a thing he comes to loath him for. Yet he will always have an odd sort of fondness for his father, even as he realizes Honeybun's loyalties to Poppy exceed those to his own children. w/ Siblings… Though unspoken, it will be felt, perhaps by all the brothers, that they are competing. This is a thing which Weevil will never forget, and yet he will not be cruel to his brothers without reason. That is not to say that he would not harm them, for he would and will if it were asked of him. But this peculiar fondness will lead him to desire to defend them from all hurts which any but their blood inflict. He will discipline as he sees fit and put an end to any acts he deems unnecessary, but should they face harm at the hands of their parents, he will do nothing. It is a thing too profoundly instilled in him. w/ Celandine… Weevil views Celandine as a possession more so than a collection of living, breathing cats. He views those who serve his mother as though they are indefinitely beneath him, yet he sees no reason to treat them unjustly unless it were ordered of him. He views it as a thing that his mother cares deeply for, so he must protect and raise it to the glory she insists it is worthy of. Despite this, he feels no compulsion to lead, and as he grows older, will come to loath it as much as he loves it. w/ the Clans… Old habits die hard, unfortunately—this will be especially true for Weevil. However much kindness he is met with, he will be unable to accept it, so deep are his insecurities. He does not believe the Clans will ever view a rogue as their equal; even as he finds companionship within his faction, he will consider this to be true.
Thread Ideas: - Such Bloody Business… Weevil gets the privilege of witnessing the death of another cat. They even gift him a diagram showing off the vital arteries and where to snip them. He quickly becomes disillusioned with the rush it supposedly brings; something about it makes him feel bad??? (so weird) - Reflected in their Eyes… An expedition near the Clan territories leads Weevil and some other rogue under the scrutiny of a patrol. Up until this point, the rumors of the Clans have only been rumored, but they are eagerly confirmed by their treatment and the disregard they're met with. weevil will remember that* - I Do This Because I Love You… Weevil is pitted against one of his brothers in battle. He wins over them, yet even as the battle is won, he is goaded to continue fighting. Despite a knot in his stomach telling him it's wrong, he does as he's asked. He takes no satisfaction in the task.
Thanks for everyone who applied!!! Captain are happy to announce!!! 🥁 🥁 🥁 Egotistic as Weevil, Silverfire as Lacewing, Kazuko as Springtail, and sloth as Grasshopper! I'm so glad to have such a great cast for my kibbens, thanks again for applying! :)
