HAILHEART
REDWOODCLAN
Tall, downy-furred lynx point tom with light blue eyes.
warrior
male
23 moons
Appearance
Though hidden under thick, downy fur, Hailheart's build is notably lean in comparison to his clanmates. This is only emphasised by his slim, long legs. While he may appear skinny underneath the fur, he maintains light musculature; still a far cry, however, from the stockier and sturdier builds of his father and brothers. He takes after his mother in that regard, almost exclusively so.
His fur length is also closest to his mother's, medium to long and downy, soft to the touch. His tail plumes in the slightest with wispy, long strands of fur. Hailheart has a tendency to stand out amongst the rest of his family with his stark light colouration- though the dark mackerel tabby stripes that adorn his face and extremities bear a striking resemblance to his father's fur.
Hailheart sports a round face and muzzle, and fittingly, large round eyes. As a result, he's hardly intimidating to look at despite his height; and often appears rather stunned regardless of circumstance. His eyes are a pale, cold blue- his most striking feature in comparison to the rest of his form.

Personality
Perfectionist | Knowledgeable | Principled | Dutiful | Co-operative
To Hailheart, being a perfectionist comes with its benefits more than its shortcomings. Though he often takes longer to complete a task than others, the end result of his labour is worth the extra effort. He could, to some, be described as wise beyond his years; with an innate knack for personal judgement and planning and a naturally fast pace of learning concepts and skills. Throughout all, it cannot be denied that Hailheart is highly principled- acting and interpreting matters through the lens of morality, and never straying from his own personal ethical code. His steadfastness in such matters makes him a dutiful worker, often preferring to stay productive over sitting still. Hailheart enjoys working in groups; and as such is highly co-operative and in tune with co-ordinating his peers' actions.
Bossy | Naive | Impassive | Single-minded | Literal
Co-operative though he may be, this often manifests as Hailheart unwittingly wresting charge from most situations, often slipping into a role of leadership without thought or grace. Though well-meaning he can often come across as demanding or controlling when he assumes leadership without thought. Despite his assumed wisdom, in addition, Hailheart is actually rather naive, if only in relation to social matters. He'll often completely misunderstand the impact of his words and actions, and accidentally hurt others as a result. His impassivity only exacerbates this issue further; and he can come across as quite cold, annoyed or emotionless in situations that call for an emotional response. Being an avid planner and a big thinker, it's hard for Hailheart to stray from his one-track mind and he often overlooks other goals when focused in on his tasks. Communication with Hailheart can be a struggle at times, especially due to the fact that his interpretation of information is literal rather than any creative, emotional or belief-driven process. Hailheart struggles to read subtle social cues or understand grand tales and concepts that he cannot view logically, and as a result often misunderstands said concepts.
History
Kithood
Hailkit's birth could hardly have been considered well-timed given the circumstances of his surroundings- the young kit was born in the midst of warring between LichenClan and RedwoodClan; and yet despite the circumstances, Hailkit could recall a simple, happier time in the nursery. His mother, Dawnlight, had doted upon him and his brother more than a kit could ask for, and though his father, Loudstorm, seemed a hesitant and distant figure to start, he soon warmed to the pair. Though Hailkit was quite reserved in comparison to his rowdier brother, Reedkit, both enjoyed each other's company and the sheltered comfort of life in the nursery.
They were hardly on their own there, at the very least; and while still far too young to fully remember or process the event, an orphaned denmate named Honeykit was welcomed into their family. Hailkit wholeheartedly accepted this addition as though it were second nature; at first not even realising the original absence of his adopted brother, though learning as the passing of the kit's mother was explained to the young tom over time. Though saddened and somewhat confused, Hailkit's views on his siblings never changed, and as far as he knew, Honeykit would be a brother just as Reedkit always had been.
Apprenticeship
Though Dawnlight had attempted to shield her children from the realities of RedwoodClan's current plight, such sheltering wouldn't last once the kits moved on to their apprenticeships. Hailpaw, still the most reserved of his siblings, was one of the last to fully grasp the true gravity of the strain between LichenClan and RedwoodClan- and the way in which he had learned could hardly have been considered gentle. Hailpaw was mentored by the hardened warrior, Gorseflame, who'd pushed the young tom in ways he'd never been familiar to, prior. The training was a shock to Hailpaw, pushing him to his limits, breaching his comforts and even leaving him wounded on more than one occasion. Believing that perhaps Gorseflame was right- that he was far too weak and cowardly to protect his Clan, Hailpaw never outwardly complained, least of all to his siblings or parents. Though in a shallow sense perhaps, Hailpaw branched out and attempted to form bonds with his denmates. On a deeper level, he only withdrew further.
Hailpaw's struggles only culminated nearing the end of his apprenticeship, the young tom attempting to scale a tree, and injuring his hind legs in a rough fall. Shaken within that time period, the apprentice spent what would have been his shared ceremony in the medicine cat's den recovering, and fell behind in receiving his warrior name. Nonetheless, he cheered his brothers on, with the hope that he could join them soon enough.
Warriorhood
The time eventually came, to Hailheart's relief. Over time he'd grown anxious, though the slow improvement of his legs held promise, and the comfort and support of his family only aided matters further. Hailheart, always a studious one despite his shortcomings, had received his warrior name soon after his recovery. Hailheart, of course, couldn't help but feel as though he had catching up to do. For the first few moons of being a fully fledged warrior, Hailheart only focused on work, until it became the structure and routine he depended upon. He often found himself helping in any way he could, striving even when unnecessary to make up for his inaction, and to this day still grapples with a sense of inadequacy. Regardless, even despite the more carefree and mischievous nature of Reedtail and Honeyblaze's regular working routine, Hailheart regarded both with the highest praises, and would often, even unknowingly, strive to be seen as a warrior to be proud for in their eyes.
Most of all, Hailheart wanted to prove his independence to Dawnlight, who'd tirelessly cared and looked out for him during his recovery - not only to assure he could fully provide for himself, but also to relieve her of what he presumed to be a burden. Though Hailheart still differed greatly from Loudstorm, he often finds the tom, similarly to his brothers, to be a cat worth proving himself too, and thusly is in the process of awkwardly rekindling a bond with the family he'd once struggled to be vulnerable with.
