Rosekit is built along sturdy lines, larger than her siblings and made to seem even larger with a dense coat of fluffy fur. The resemblance to Sturgeonstone, her mother, is undeniable despite their difference in coloration. Where her mother, however, found her size as a tender spot, Rosekit recognized it early on as an asset and an easy way to identify closely with her primary role model.

Like her siblings, Rosekit’s fur is a myriad of shades. Patched heavily with black over her face and down her legs and tail, the remainder of Rose’s pelt sports blots of cream and russet that are softened by the downy length of the fur. Tufted, black-mottled ears crown a pretty – if broad - face set with eyes in a shade of warm topaz; eyes that are constantly alert and always seeking out flaws.

Raised with the ingrained knowledge that her mother’s words were utter truth and the beliefs they shared were superior to the mindsets of others, Rosekit was bound to be confident and straightforward. While not outspoken in the sense of loudness or brashness – she was well-raised to know her place – it could never be said that she minces words. If she sees something wrong, it will be called out; if she sees something praiseworthy, it will be mentioned.

This is not to say that Rosekit is impulsive or lacks a filter. If anything, her grasp of language and ability to artfully craft her words makes her come across as very thoughtful for her age and maturity level. Guided by her stringent moral code – black and white with no margin for shades of grey – debating the finer points of her beliefs and working to sway others to her side is second nature. After all, doesn’t she owe it to those poor souls who don’t understand The Truth to try and educate them?


With a mother like Sturgeonstone, developing her own sense of superstition was inevitable for Rose. Hanging on her mother’s every word, every story of sin, consequences, and fate skewed her own worldview along an odd tangent. Though well within the bounds of conventional thought on everyday topics, her early exposure to the dogma of her family and the supposed inferiority of others has led Rosekit to see coincidence as divine intervention – extrapolating the ordinary and mundane into a game of possible life-or-death consequences.

As niche as her mother’s beliefs are within LichenClan, the exclusivity of their worldview has led to Rosekit being intrinsically attached to her family and their position as being “special.” This devotion extends to every aspect of Rose’s motivations; every action she takes is, in her mind, righteous for the sake of her family and their piousness.


Given her upbringing and predisposition to pleasing her mother, Rosekit is (to put it bluntly) a narc. Critical and nitpicking to an intense degree, she actively seeks out supposed “pockets of sin” among the Clan to report such transgressions to Sturgeonstone. Like a positive feedback loop of censure, each newly-discovered fault reassures her that the self-imposed quest to ferret out all improper behavior is a justified one.

Alongside her critique of everything from a perceived lack of reverence or heretical thought, Rose makes no secret of her opinions and positions. Raised on a steady stream of cautionary tales and ardent gospel, she is hardly shy about spreading her opinions to anyone who will listen (and even those who would rather not). The sheer strength of her dogma has made Rosekit almost entirely unwilling to budge on any aspect of what she considers to be The Truth. Words to the contrary, no matter how convincing, are simply insidious lures toward sin – and those who sin will face consequences.

From the very first breath, Rosekit’s environment will prime her for the cat she’ll eventually become. Larger and healthier than her moments-older siblings, her first glimpse of the world is one of comingled wonder and assurance. How can her life be anything but successful, given the blessings around her?

With Sturgeonstone’s dedication to her beliefs and her commitment to the success of her kits – if not their happiness – the first steps Rosekit takes into her life will proceed in much the same way as the rest of her path: full of conviction and righteousness.
