I literally watched an anime for the first time in my life this summer. Watched Dragon Ball Z, and I liked it. I've never watched Naruto before, but I feel like Dragon Ball is somewhat similar. Maybe. XD
My avatar is Beerus from Dragon Ball Super though.

rain, ngl, but it's not super amazing. XD Most of the antagonists are kinda poorly developed and the plot is pretty predictable. Also, the battles drag on sooo long. For instance, 5 minutes in their world is equivalent to 8 episodes; the monologuing gets ridiculous after a while. Most of the people that love it probably just love it for the nostalgic factor because they watched it as a kid or something. However, I will say that a lot of the characters are pretty charming, making them pretty likable. I really liked the characters, which is why I watched 200+ episodes of yelling and pretty repetitive fights. XD

i just rewatch the stuff i was into as a kid. i've seen death note a zillion times. i loved fullmetal alchemist. wolf's rain is always good. ouran high school host club is very cute. and then you have the ghibli films of course xD. and ofc we can't forget pokemon.
I prefer anime that has really, really nice art. I really watch it mostly for the animation as it is so beautiful.

if none of you have ever seen it, Ginga Densetsu Weed (GDW) and Ginga Nagareboshi Gin (GNG) are great animes based off of mangas, GNG being one of the kinda oldschool ones so the art is pretty NEAT. The episodes all used to be on youtube but I don't think they are now, so it might be kinda hard to find them.
All of Sheepish's recommendations, I can confirm, are good. Wolf's Rain is underrated af.
I highly HIGHLY HIGHLYYYY suggest Clannad if you want something warm and fuzzy but also completely heartbreaking. The characters are pretty well-written too.
On hulu, there's Blood -C which is really good if you're into action.
and Afro Samurai, if you've never seen it, is super good and not very long at all so it's worth it to watch even if it's just to say you did.

If you're gonna watch Fruits Basket, I suggest you read the manga first. But that's just my opinion.

oh, i agree 100%. the manga is sooo much better. but i also watched the og anime first and then, like sobbed bc it was done, and then discovered the manga and quickly binged it on mangafox lmao. i think either order works - the main thing with fruits basket is ya GOTTA read the manga regardless.
i honestly have watched v little anime. i mostly read a BUNCH of shoujo manga lol (when i was thirteen...it has been awhile)

OH MY GOD @catalysta YOU ARE LITERALLY THE ONLY OTHER PERSON IVE MET THAT HAS WATCHED GDW I LOVED THAT ANIME AS A KID I WATCHED IT ALL ON YOUTUBE!!! but i didn't watch gng?? is that based on daddy?? is it as good? and Wolf's rain i remember watching too but i didn't watch a lot Deaths Note i literally jUST watched half a year ago for the first time and i was super surprised it held up to the hype it had in the day but ♈︎ SHEEPISH i super love pretty animation too. if you want that, if you havent seen the classic Akira movie that was a stepping stone in animation. lain i remember being good visually. im trying to think of anime that compares to the ghibli films in terms of how breathtaking it is but i cant think omg ALSO I FORGOT MADE IN ABYSS IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING I RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE EVEN IF YOU DONT LIKE ANIME I SWEAR ITS GOOD BUT ITS ONLY ONE SEASON SO FAR ALSO EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH NICHIJOU THAT IS THE FUNNIEST THING IVE EVER WATCHED and Azumanga Daioh is a classic funny

Other suggestions: Steins Gate (if you want something to break your brain), One Piece is my ultimate fav but it's something you have to stick with for the longhaul (I've been read/watching it for 15ish years), Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass was fine, furture diary is okay, if you like reading Eyeshield 21 is my favourite manga of all time (its a sports manga but it ultimately focuses on friendship and is so inspiring it made me cry), My Hero Academia is a new one that's pretty good, and Case Closed is a classic.

rain :OOOO dude I've never met anyone outside of the fandom who actually watched it too XD and yes, GNG is based on Weed's father's story of becoming leader and defeating the Akakabuto/bears. GNG is /very/ good and gives you more insight to a few things that seemed 'random' or left you wondering contextually in GDW. It's still highly enjoyable regardless of if you watch them in chronological order, and they're really not the same experience at all. GNG just FEELS nostalgic af.
