pearl feather
lichen clan
pale, long-haired she-cat with green eyes and a short muzzle
warrior
she-cat
sixty-eight
Appearance
Pearlfeather is jovial in feature, consumed by rounded edges and thick, plush skin. Her cheeks push from beneath her ball-like jowls. Pearlfeather is slightly below average in height and length. Overall, she is a heavier she-cat with a well-rounded stomach, which wanes with only the worst of leaf-bare.
The she-cat's long furred pelt is mostly alabaster with weaves of cream and muted grey undertones. There are peppers of tabby stripes, but this feature is not predominant. Her fur is long in the way that it is thick, like a never-ending cloud as opposed to plumy feathers or stringy-like wisps. Only in opportune places does the long fur seem to congregate, specifically, of the cheekbones of her mane and her large, plush tail. Her ear feathers and whiskers are sporadic. Pearlfeather does well to ensure she is well-groomed.
In contrast to her color, Pearlfeather has large, rounded eyes which are lined with black. There are no wings to the corners to once again compliment the smoothness of her contours. The she-cat's eyes are crisp, green, which teeter on the spectrum of yellow (as opposed to blue). The burnt creams of her fur-tone cluster around important features- such as the bridge of her nose. This splash of color does well to accent the pink pastels of her lips and nose. Pearlfeather's ears mimic this color, along with her paw pads.
Her voice is exuberant and full of laughter, though mild when the situation demands. At the same time, she smells of lakeside breeze and mosses.

Personality
Pearlfeather has always been in-tune with her ego and sense of self. Actively, she tries to be a positive force and provide a sounding board for any cat in need. She is very skilled at being impartial based on her own judgements and prejudice, which makes her an easy cat to confide in.
Pearlfeather is a worshipper of Starclan. She is not pious, but actively prays for her brother, Bristlefur, to return to Starclan. A lot of her guidance, trust, and faith, is tied back to Starclan and their ancestors. Perhaps this is attributed to soothing the pain of her mother's passing. Even still, she sees her world actively through the lens of Starclan's praise.
Yet even still, despite her internal disagreements between others and religion, she is very accepting of what she cannot change. Pearlfeather shows her love through this acceptance and is unconditionally supportive of those she cares about. Though she will not just willingly agree with everything, Pearlfeather understands that a lot is outside of her own control. In turn, her sense of support comes from vocalizing her thoughts and then continuing to promote the outcome that nurtures the most sense of personal peace and self-fullfillment. Although there is no universal truth to what peace is, Pearlfeather imagines life free of the constraints of ego. In this way, she is not a complete pushover. She can willingly love, support, and accept, but will not let others walk over her ideals. She is comfortable agreeing to disagree.
When dealing with others Pearlfeather is easy-going. She does not hold grudges, struggles with hostility, and tries to see the potential peace in everyone.
Yet, like any individual, they do not come completely without ego. Pearlfeather struggles with her own sense of self but like others, has come towards acceptance (rather than working to change). As a warrior, Pearlfeather is incredibly lazy. She much prefers sunning, watching the lakeshore, and talking to others, than doing warrior duties. She is a sloppy huntress at best and relies on evasive battle techniques. Though, she has the understanding how to use her weight against an opponent well and can be quite artful in battle, she has little desire.
Additionally, Pearlfeather struggles with greed. She will be the first pick off the fresh-kill pile and often times selects a juicy, plump piece of prey without considering others. This is not conscious, she just has a soft spot for fine-dining.
Lastly, the laid-back she-cat is dependably tardy to absolutely everything. This characteristic has gotten her in a pawful of trouble with superiors. Whether it be a personal meet-up or patrol, expect to be waiting on Pearlfeather.
History
Only in kit hood stories did Pearlkit hear the origins of her name. Her mother, Pearlshine, took to Starclan too soon. After the tragedy of her mother's passing, she and five siblings were fostered.
Food was scarce, and there was not enough, even in the most bountiful green leaves. Pearlkit was always in competition. While others took to fighting for attention and admiration, Pearlkit sought wonders in the delicacies of life. She quickly relished in the juiciest trout and most excellent sun rays.
These indulgences came with consequences. Pearlkit was first resented for her name, as Pearlshine left them in this hardship (through no fault of her own). And for her gluttony, she was seen as selfish. When approached, Pearlkit responded naively. The others figured she was air-headed or stupid more than malicious. Though during the moments she crafted herself the name a scapegoat, Pearlkit grew close to Bristlekit. Two social pariahs were in better company than one.
Pearlpaw spent most of her apprenticeship exploring her sense of Starclan. Cast in the inner turmoil of self-doubt, Pearlpaw's mentor was not blind to her struggles. She noticed how Pearlpaw longingly looked at the stars. And, she noticed how over time, even Pearlpaw's biggest indulgences seemed to lose the sharp twinkle in her stare. One day, she gifted her a freshwater clam. Claws unsheathed, she dug into its mouth to crack its spine and reveal the treasure of a freshwater pearl. In this metaphor, her mentor assured her of the unpredictability of Starclan's signs. Despite its deceitful outer shell, with time and fortune, the greatest treasures were found. Pearlpaw continued to look around her world and trust her intuition. Despite her shortcomings, Pearlpaw knew who she was and celebrated her strengths. Beneath every shell was a pearl. This same treatment extended to others.
It was at this moment that Pearlpaw developed a relationship with fishing. Assumed to the art of Starclan, she predicted her days and events based on the catch of her paws. A strange form of fortune-telling, it went undisputed as it fed the belly of the clan (though no one cared to notice). And with it, her connections remained just vague enough to satisfy her own sense of hunger. Pearlpaw believed that the world (or her subconscious) would reveal what she needed, given this moment in time.
In contrast, her brother grew farther away from Starclan. Avulsed by the harsh doctrines and macabre setting that Lichenclan's Starclan, one which Pearlpaw came to accept but not celebrate, he confided in her. Pearlpaw was worried for her brother. She kept the secret safe. Yet still, she does not hide her sense of religion from him.
Despite her love for Starclan, Pearlpaw, like many things, had her spin. She disagreed with the harsh laws and practices enforced by LichenClan. Pearlpaw often turned a blind eye to the methods (or sometimes even the warrior code), under a veil of ignorance and clumsiness. The she-cat focused more on a sense of self and inner peace.
She quickly grew into a point of frustration within the clan. Before her warriorship, Pearlpaw had further developed her reputation for laziness and stupidity. These whispering did not shake her; Pearlpaw knew her sense of truth. By 16 moons, she received her name Pearlfeather, named for her long fur. No one knew much about her other than the few who had invested the time to grow close to her wonders.
When Minnowstar barred the other clans from the moon pool, Pearlfeather lost trust in the leadership of LichenClan. Any hope she had for Minnowstar's cruel and hostile ways was squandered.
Bristlefur took the warrior Cricketcall (Raven~ ) as his mate, giving Pearlfeather six nieces and nephews (heronkit fallenreaper , perchkit Egotistic , pikekit wish , pricklekit Raven~ , wildkit sloth , and shrikekit moony ). But just in time for the joys of a new family, Minnowstar held a mass confession, fearful of traitors among their ranks. Pearlfeather admitted she had been absent-minded in her prayer, lying that she was improving her battle moves. Truthfully, Pearlfeather couldn't think of anything to confess. She always tried her best to be kind and rule-abiding. Minnowstar did not take kindly to her response. Much to Bristlefur's dismay, Pearlfeather was damned to imprisonment. Pearlfeather figured her punishment had to do much more with her actions and status as a warrior than the confession itself, always criticized by Minnowstar for her lousy fighting and lackadaisical ways.
On the way out, Pearlfeather supported Cressclaw (Kazuko ), whose brother had just been punished and banished from the clans. Tension rose as the warrior Wispfang tried to silence Cressclaw with cruelty. Enraged, Pearlfeather threatened Wispfang and guided Cressclaw alongside her to the tunnels.
Imprisoned in the tunnels, Pearlfeather spent uncountable days and nights. During this time, she practiced her meditations and tried to encourage hope in the others around her. Her prison mate Sagefrost (sloth ) was a dedicated loyalist with drastically different values and ideologies, so their conversations were often short and fruitless. One night, Bristlefur snuck out to feed Pearlfeather and express his fears with Minnowstar's leadership. Together they ruminated on their doubts and enjoyed the solace of one another's company.
After Pearlfeather was released from prison, Lily's rogues joined their territory. To prove her loyalty, Pearlfeather was summoned on a raid attack against Thistleclan, accompanying her brother Bristlefur. Not much of a fighter, she squared half-heartedly against the seasoned warrior Firfoot (Egotistic ) until it was announced their patrol had killed the leader of Thistleclan, Thievingstar (Bandit ). Immediately, Pearlfeather retreated, her belly full of the stones of dismay, hurt by the nature of her clan.
The doubts continued to fester. Bristlefur, enraged by the rogues within their borders, became more hostile with Minnowstar's leadership. Tension continued to boil until eventually, Bristlefur was declared missing. Pearlfeather tried to comfort her family, simultaneously grieving as angry and skeptical of Minnowstar's words. Together, she and Bristlefur's children organized search parties to find their missing deputy. There was no luck. However, Pearlfeather never relinquished hope.
In the final battle a rebellion breaks out amongst LichenClan. RedwoodClan with the aid of refugees, Thistleclan, and the cats of the tunnels, together turn on Minnowstar, her loyalists, and the rogues. Pearlfeather had been looking for Bristlefur throughout the night and stumbled upon battling cats. Together, they made a pact for peace.
In the end, Minnowstar was killed by Quickstrike, the leader of the LichenClan rebellion. Hemlockstar and Quickstrike took Minnowstar's place as leaders of LichenClan. Though Pearlfeather was relieved and hopeful for the future of her clan, nothing could replace her brother's absence.

Season 2020
War thickened across the horizon. RedwoodClan was said to hold a demon from a group of cats called the "tribe," who swam across the lake searching for aid against a plague. Pearlfeather did not attend the gathering but was suspicious of the rumors and accusations. Being a social pariah herself, Pearlfeather was disappointed in Lichen Clan's response ranging from criticisms to horrific fears. When Minnowstar barred the other clans from the moon pool, Pearlfeather lost trust in the leadership of LichenClan. Any hope she had for Minnowstar's cruel and hostile ways was squandered.
Season 2021
After Hemlockheart disappeared, Pearlfeather's brother Bristlefur (Akura ), was appointed deputy. During this change, Pearlfeather's status rose in the clan. Cats who once ignored the warrior gave space to inquiry about her day, or offer her pickings among the fresh-kill pile. Keeping her head low and opinions to herself, Pearlfeather's work gained merit within the clan. Bristlefur took the warrior Cricketcall (Raven~ ) as his mate, giving Pearlfeather six nieces and nephews (heronkit fallenreaper , perchkit Egotistic , pikekit wish , pricklekit Raven~ , wildkit sloth , and shrikekit moony ). Season 2023.
As a giant blizzard assaulted their island, Pearlfeather was caught in the storm. In a small avalanche of snow, she crashed through the earth and into the underground tunnels. Serendipitously, she was united with Bristlefur. Animated with glee, Pearlfeather reconnected with her long lost brother and they fit together the pieces of their broken narratives.
