NorthSky
LichenClan
creamy-furred tomcat with darker leopard-like markings and blue eyes
warrior
male
thirty-one moons
Appearance
There's nothing particularly special about Northsky structural-wise. Besides being a bit more slim than the average cat, resembling his clanmates in this matter, he does not stand out among other felines. He sports a lithe frame, built for speed and agility. With swift paws and powerful legs, he's more than capable of running far distances and jumping great heights.
Visual-wise, Northsky could be considered handsome. His fur is short and thin, but smooth, like the petals of an flower. This allows him to glide through water like a slippery fish and dispose of liquids promptly. His base coat is a creamy-white, darker along his spine and legs than his belly, and littered with darker leopard-like spots all over his torso, legs and tail. As the spots run up his tail or down his legs, they darken in color until they're black, and his base coat pales to a pure white at his tail-tip. He sports dark tabby stripes on his forehead and cheeks.
Northsky's lengthy coarse whiskers are white, like the frosted tufts of fur standing against the pink insides of his ears. His nose and paw pads are also pink, and is eyes are usually a icy shade of blue, which seem to become a stunning pale gray, almost silver, when exposed to brighter lights and a shadowy blue in dimmer areas.

Northkit's story started long before he was even born. His father, Webfoot, came from a long line of felines who dedicated themselves to StarClan, who believed even the slightest movement of a leaf in the wind was a sign from above. Northkit's paternal grandfather was no exception. Webfoot was groomed to follow in his father's pawsteps. Every aspect of Webfoot's life was dictated by his father, such as his diet, his training, and even who he could hang out with. Webfoot's father stood by his statement that everything he did was under StarClan's guidance. This is why Webfoot's father encouraged him to pursue Bluefeather, claiming StarClan had led him to her in the form of a blue feather lingering on their territory.
Bluefeather and Webfoot were not your typical mates. They would never have considered one another as possible significant others if Webfoot's father hadn't said anything. They did not fall head over heels in love. Webfoot did not sweep Bluefeather off her paws. She was well aware of the fact that Webfoot was not interested in her, but instead thought their union would please StarClan. She found it challenging to be one half of a relationship without love, but she was as eager to satisfy their ancestors as he was. Besides, she could get used to the way he treated her in public, especially when he gifted her pretty flowers and feathers and stones. She didn't mind having a tom padding after her, even if it was just for show.
Moons later, not long after Webfoot's father passed away, Webfoot desired offspring to pass along his bloodline. The two had never even considered having kits, but they were growing older, and Webfoot feared never having heirs. Now Bluefeather would do anything to maintain the illusion that they were genuinely mates, but bearing Webfoot's kits was crossing the line. He took matters into his own paws, and approached a reliable clanmate named Mistfern, and without permission from StarClan, he requested she be the biological mother of his kits. He would not leave Bluefeather for another she-cat, as StarClan had supposedly destined them to be together, and Mistfern had a mate herself. Mistfern agreed to have his kits, as she'd had an infatuation for Webfoot since they were young. They hatched up a rather complex plan, just so nobody would suspect Webfoot had an affair and went against the wishes of StarClan. Mistfern would not be able to hide her round belly, so she went and publicly announced she and her mate, Newtspring, were having kits. Meanwhile, Bluefeather came to Webfoot and told him that while hunting, she'd found a family of mice, and came to the conclusion that StarClan wanted her and Webfoot to start a family. This disrupted Webfoot's entire plan. Soon enough, Webfoot and Bluefeather had an announcement to make, also, and Webfoot spent numerous nights restlessly tossing and turning in his nest. He and Mistfern had made a terrible mistake, one that should not have happened.
Both litters only had one kit each. Mistfern's litter consisted of Northkit, and he was raised to consider Newtspring as his father. Bluefeather had Quillkit, who Webfoot went around bragging about to all his clanmates. Webfoot completely disregarded Northkit, and let Newtspring raise him as his own. Mistfern would never say anything about the true father, and Webfoot knew and was comforted by this. Poor Newtspring was oblivious, but this gave him the opportunity to treat Northkit like his biological kit. Newtspring made an incredible father. It wasn't uncommon to find Northkit cuddled up against him in the mid-day sun, or listening eagerly to his stories, or chasing one another around camp, squealing with laughter. Mistfern was a different story; she was never happy, probably because she realized Webfoot would never be hers. She was always screeching at Northkit, like that one time they were settling into their nest for the night and he accidentally pulled her whisker, or that other time Northkit asked one too many curious questions. Northkit preferred Newtspring to Mistfern, there was no doubt about it.
Northpaw was given Asterfern as a mentor. Although youthful and fiery, Asterfern was a respected and well-liked member of LichenClan. Northpaw adored his mentor immediately, and looked at him like he hung the moon and the stars in the night sky. Northpaw wasn't the only one who thought this way; Asterfern had an abundance of beaus to choose from, should he desire. Not only was he incredibly handsome, but he was quite the spitfire. He fueled flames in the cats around him, awakening their passions and cravings in a way only he was capable of. It wasn't exactly a wonder why Northpaw loved him.
With the proper training, Asterfern knew Northpaw would make a terrific warrior. Luckily, Asterfern shared Northpaw's build, and was able to teach to use his size, speed, and wit to his advantage. He excelled in his training, and was soon learning advanced techniques that few apprentices his age knew. Quillpaw, while an amazing warrior, was more interested in having fun than learning to rival her skill. Webfoot, who had been molding Quillpaw to follow in his pawsteps and was losing to Quillpaw's fun-loving nature, turned his attention to Northpaw when he demonstrated his outstanding progress. It wasn't long before Webfoot inserted himself into Northpaw's training sessions, or even took him out to train in their free time. By the end of his apprenticeship, Northpaw was capable of defeating Webfoot in a mock battle, and hunting down more prey than even Asterfern could with limited time.
At their naming ceremony, Northpaw was titled Northsky and Quillpaw was gifted the name Quillfeather. After a few moments celebrating with the tom he grew up alongside, he headed directly for Asterfern and thanked him for standing by his side, for making him who he is today, and then he went to Newtspring and expressed his gratitude for his love and support. They were the three most important cats in his life, unlike Mistfern, who had never been at all motherly. Webfoot tried to tell Northsky how proud he was of him without straight out saying it, but Northsky remembered how Webfoot had been so cool to him as a kit and harsh with him in training, and so he chose to be nothing but civil, thanking him and then excusing himself. He would celebrate tonight with the ones who actually appreciated him.
Northsky and Asterfern grew especially close, and could almost always be found together. After a few moons, their clanmates started waking up to the sight of the two tomcats sharing a nest. Rumors were passed around about the two warriors being mates, and if these whispers ever reached either of the pair, they didn't show it.
During this time, Northsky was given an apprentice, an orphaned molly who Northsky felt an immediate attachment to. She was sweet and shy, and Northsky's paternal instincts activated whenever so much as Daisypaw's name was brought up. The apprentice had the potential to be a great warrior, Northsky knew this. She was already so swift and sharp, but if they could tear down her wall of insecurities, she would be absolutely spectacular! Northsky and Asterfern made sure Daisypaw knew she was loved and wanted, but it took a few moons for the younger cat to actually believe them. She made great progress in training, while Northsky and Asterfern made plenty of distance in reassuring her. Daisypaw was coming out of her shell, finally. Unfortunately, she would not live long enough to completely crawl out of said shell. Asterfern was training Daisypaw that day, because Northsky had been assigned to a patrol. They were above the sea caves when a hawk swept Daisypaw off the ground, knocking Asterfern down into the shallow waters below. The hawk took off with Daisypaw, and Asterfern died the second he hit the rocky waters. Northsky was understandably distraught, and found comfort in all he had left: Newtspring and Quillfeather.
Once Northsky fought through his grief, he was able to perform his everyday duties again and commit completely to LichenClan. He had plenty of time to think now, and he put plenty of thought toward his clan. He didn't like the way Minnowstar ruled. She was so strict and StarClan-obsessed. Northsky believed he could be a better leader. With this thought drilled into his head, he decided to act on it. He got on Minnowstar's good side. He pretended to share her beliefs with a passion, he followed her like a good, loyal warrior would, and obeyed her demands without question. If he could secure Minnowstar's trust, he'd be one step closer to crumbling her empire. All he would have to do is maintain the act and recruit followers to overthrow Minnowstar in secret. Northsky would set LichenClan on a better path.
