YARROWPAW
THISTLECLAN
short and muscled seal lynx point with white tom
APPRENTICE
AMAB
11 MOONS
Appearance
- A bit of an oddball, Yarrow can at least blend into his Clan with his height. He's quite short, standing about average for your typical Thistleclan cat. He is a bit chunkier than a usual Thistleclanner, both in fluff-volume and sheer size. No, Yarrow is not a chubby boy. He's packed with lean and dense muscle, making him a small but effective powerhouse. He is a very agile cat and highly responsive, and he's shown a distinct affinity for climbing trees, but as for actual speed, he leaves something to be desired. His stamina is fairly average.
- An undoubtedly handsome boy, Yarrowpaw is a long/semi long furred seal lynx point with distinctive white markings cutting through the pale chocolate color draped over him. While muscular, he really isn't very big, but his fur does help to make him look bigger. His seal markings are fairly dark on his body, which makes the white markings stand out quite nicely. The white is mostly on his underside, with four white paws and a white blaze. His eyes are a pretty blue color. One last thing to note about Yarrowpaw is his gaze. He was born fully deaf, so he navigates his world mostly through sight and while he can lip-read to a small extent, he mostly uses other's body language to understand their intent. Thus, he is not shy about staring very intently at a cat and has a habit of moving his head around a lot more than your usual cat, so he can make sure nothing is sneaking up on him.
- His lynx-point spreads across his entire face, with a collar of paler coloring and white cutting the color off at his cheeks. His ears are dark, and intense blue eyes surrounded by the color. A blaze covers his nose and muzzle and stripes up between his eyes, ending just above his eyebrows fairly bluntly.

Personality
- Upbeat
- Quick thinker
- Workaholic
- Pent-up and undealt with emotional issues
Despite a disability and strained family life, Yarrowpaw is an undoubtedly good clan member. He's not the greatest hunter and certainly has no promise as a diplomat, but he gets the job done, and shows promise as a fighter and is an all-around dutiful cat. Perhaps too dutiful, sometimes. Early to rise, and having a bad habit of going off on his own tangents to do what his whims tell him to, Yarrow can seem a little flighty. This isn't the case. He's quite intelligent and good at focusing on tasks, but he can be a little prideful and eager to prove himself at times, which leads him into trouble when he 'goes rogue'. Sometimes, these self-driven rabbit trails earn him positive lessons or rewards, other times, he ends up in a whole new world of trouble he has difficulty getting himself out of. He's overall fairly level-headed when it comes to cats other than himself, though. He's not the apprentice you have to worry about starting a fight at the borders, and never has been, and he handles other cats boisterous, prickly, calm or crazy with a patience that rivals many an adult cat.
Yarrowpaw is far from perfect, though. As mentioned before, he can tend to go off on his own tangents, and since he rarely (VERY rarely) speaks, he doesn't really let others know where he's going, what he's doing or why. There's a definite communication barrier there that he tries to overcome, but he's young and deeply self-driven, and struggles to bother to put in the work to communicate at times. Yarrowpaw does also seem very calm and upbeat about everything. You'll never see him too stressed out, too on edge, too bristled or angry or sad. He's a master at suppressing any emotion besides happiness and cheerfulness, which makes him a delight to be around. It also makes him a ticking time bomb of undealt-with resentment, pain, anger and hurt festering within. Sometimes, someone will be able to get a rise out of him, but at those times he is very volatile, and doesn't know how to control his temper except to turn it off. When it gets out of his control, he's likely to lash out with violent force at just about any cat, including himself. He harbors a fairly large number of insecurities and self hate as well, but again, he doesn't recognize or deal with any of it.

History
- Yarrowkit was born to Duckfang, a fierce warrior of the clan and her handsome mate Brineface. He had a stillborn sister, left unnamed, and a sealpoint sister named Nutkit. And for a time, the family was happy, and they were whole. The peace wouldn't last long. Tensions between Brineface and Duckfang had been rising for some time. They were a volatile, passionate pair from the very start, and things were rocky the whole way. Things only got worse when it was confirmed that Yarrowkit was deaf. Almost immediately afterward, Brineface admitted to cheating on Duckfang with another Clan she-cat, Sootpelt. Unsurprisingly, this news split the mates. Divorce itself would have been bad enough for the two young kits, but Yarrowkit received the brunt of the blame for the breakup. Duckface blamed her son's disability for the reason Brineface left her, and while Brineface was indeed more distant from his deaf son than his healthy daughter, the blame was undeserved and certainly not appropriate to place on a child. Nutpaw followed her mother's suit, and Yarrowpaw had little place to go to escape from the pressure of his mother and sister's hatred. His father remained distant, enjoying his new life with his new mate, and anytime he'd try to be more involved than the minimal role he held in his kits' lives, jealous Duckfang would drive him off. Yarrowpaw should have felt excitement when he was old enough to become an apprentice, but he really just felt relief.
- Yarrowpaw was overjoyed to become an apprentice and threw himself into the work fiercely. His deafness has proved perhaps his most challenging issue to overcome, but he has faced it with the same intense determination he gaces everything with. His father and his mate have had a litter(Mistkit, Sablekit, Antlerkit, and Batkit) and Yarrowpaw is trying to be involved in their lives in the hopes of forming a relationship with his father, but it is intensely awkward and he feels disjointed from most of his clanmates and particularly from his family.
