large long-haired ginger tom with amber eyes
clanless
tom
21 moons
Appearance
From the time he was born, Sunflower was a bulky cat. Long legs and a large frame are reminiscent of his father, a clan warrior. In his younger years, he was a bumbling clumsy kitten that could barely keep his paws under him as he navigated the world. His mother used to softly chuckle each time her kit stumbled over himself in an attempt to run ahead during their travels. As he aged, Sunflower slowly grew into his size. His paws balanced out with his long legs and muscle bulked up his shoulders and frame.
This helped Sunflower to grow into his good looks. Alongside his size, it is complimented by his long golden fur. Sunflower does his best to keep his pelt in good shape but his long fur and the underbrush of the wilderness don't always agree. It was in better shape while he was living among twolegs with their manicured yards but since leaving in search of the clans, he has looked a little raggedy. Darker tabby stripes adorn his head, giving his round kind face more handsome features.
Despite his intimidating size, Sunflower's face is one of a kind cat. His wide open features and amber eyes radiate a warmth that seems to follow this cat. He is particularly expressive, all of his emotions easily readable on his face.

Personality
+ optimistic, charismatic, good-humored, loving
- naive, self-centered, hopeless romantic
- naive, self-centered, hopeless romantic
Sunflower is the definition of a friendly wanderer. He has spent most of his time in solitude with just his mother for company. In this situation, the young tom learned that remaining optimistic and open was the easiest path forward. When he could get those around him to smile, it was like a badge of honor that Sunflower wore proudly. This led to his default nature being that of kind familiarity, even with strangers, and his emotions worn clearly on his face.
Over time, this developed into a certain charisma for the young cat. His easy smile could win some over, his kind words would get a few more, but there are still some less trusting that are offput by the friendliness of this gentle giant. While he does not have a deceptive bone in his body, some cats question the motives behind his immediate trust in others.
Due to the luck in his life, Sunflower has also remained relatively naive of the how the world actually works. He romanticizes his heritage, seeing clan warriors as heroes of the fantastical stories his mother once weaved him. He expects the best of other cats and this will undoubtedly lead to him being led astray one day. However, until that happens, he continues to be unabashedly open to those around him.
This has led Sunflower down the path of a hopeless romantic. Quick to fall in love, the young tom has a desire to find a mate that will keep him for the rest of their lives. Despite a lack of luck, he hasn't given up hope though. His perfect cat is out there and part of him thinks it might be one of the heroic warriors from his mother's stories.
Even though he leads his life with kindness, Sunflower is also deeply self-centered about his actions. He has a hard time understanding why those around him don't see the world the same way and accepting the opinions of others. He tries to bend the world to fit around his desires and expresses frustration when things don't turn out the way he expects.

History
Seasons ago, a young loner by the name of Ladybug lived on the edges of the clan's territories. Her day-to-day life often brought her within mousetails of RedwoodClan's borders and this led to her interest in the strange cats that lived within. She was respectful of their spaces, only trespassing when absolutely necessary, and occasionally attempting to make conversation with the clan cats when she would come into contact with patrols. Most wanted nothing to do with her as she was an outsider but there was one cat.
Antlerstrike showed a particular interest in her, flirting with her whenever they crossed paths and telling her stories of RedwoodClan, the brave cats who stood true with the Warrior Code. She was enchanted by the idea and loved to hear his tales while growing closer with him. This would ultimately lead to her leaving in the end.
It wasn't too long before the she-cat realized she had fallen pregnant and would become a mother. She wasn't too frightened by the prospect as perhaps she would be able to raise her son among the honorable warriors of RedwoodClan. However, that hope would quickly change.
Tensions were rising between the clans and Ladybug watched from the edge of brutal battles over the borders, leaving something inside her cold. She didn't want her kits to fight like these cats. There was one thing to defend oneself but to seek causing harm to others was too much. Without so much as a goodbye to Antlerstrike, Ladybug disappeared from the clan territories and the lands that bordered their territory. When she eventually became too heavy to travel, Ladybug settled in an abandoned campsite to give birth. Despite her size, Ladybug only gave birth to a singular kit, one that very closely resembled her RedwoodClan warrior.
Her son, lovingly named Sunflower, became the light of her life. As he grew, Sunflower proved to be an adventurous and talkative kitten. He spent his time exploring the world around him and soaking in his mother's stories. She had many of them from her travels but her favorites were those of the clans. Noble warriors who followed a code and the words of their ancestors to protect their home and families. These were brave cats that Sunflower painted as heroes in his head. It also meant he was part hero as well as his father was a clan cat! As he grew older, he often asked questions about his father but Ladybug was always avoidant on that part. While they traveled, she never brought them close to the clan territories, as she was afraid of what would happen if her kit encountered clan life.
As Sunflower approached his twentieth moon, Ladybug's health began to fail. She was not a particularly old cat but a disease had begun to settle into her chest. Sunflower was left alone to care for his mother, hunting for the both of them, and desperately trying to find a remedy for Ladybug's ailment. It was all for naught.
A moon ago, Ladybug passed with a final rattling breath, leaving Sunflower completely alone in this world. The young tom was nearly sent into a downward spiral of depression but he knew that was not what his mother would have wanted for him. No, she wouldn't want him to be alone and wallow in his feelings.
This led to Sunflower deciding he was going to find the clan cats. The heroic stories of his kithood blinding him to the real dangers of a life in the wilderness. He set off from the abandoned campsite in search of the clans and only recently found himself on the borders that create the clan territories. Sunflower has yet to encounter a clan cat but the thrill of finally meeting his heroes is strong.
