Splintersight
thistleclan
a long furred black smoke she-cat with yellow eyes
senior warrior
cis female
75 moons
Appearance
Splintersight is a she-cat that stands about 11 inches tall. She is a thick-boned, powerful cat, and though her fur hides most of her form, there is no doubt that powerful muscles lay beneath her pelt. Her body is of an average length, and her tail is also average, but made slightly longer by her fur. Her fur is thick and very long, even thicker in leaf-fall and leaf-bare. It is soft, much unlike Splintersight herself. Her pelt is a mix of shadow and light, of blacks, grays, and paler grays. Her face and legs are mostly black, while her body is dark gray with lighter grays mixed in. A mane of pale gray fur surrounds her neck at the base of her head. Her head is a slightly square shape, and her ears are very triangular and pointy. Her face is fairly flat with a short muzzle, which is also fairly bulky, giving her a powerful bite. Her eyes are yellow-green and round, though her pupils are often slits.
Personality
Splintersight is an ambitious and volatile warrior. She is passionate about being one of Graystar’s descendants, intensely loyal to ThistleClan, and doesn’t believe in StarClan.
+Purposeful: Splintersight has a witty mind and acts with purpose. She doesn’t waste her time and is assertive and takes initiative, whether it be in battle or in conversation. Additionally, this causes her to be bold and she will even strike out on her own if she believes it to be necessary. She is willing to take risks. Splintersight also tends to be very focused and committed to her routine. These traits are beneficial because they make her a good warrior to have in battle; a tank to balance the defense. They also make her a good addition to her Clan, as she is willing to voice her opinions if she believes that change is needed.
+Ambitious: Splintersight is very ambitious. Specifically, she takes pride in her heritage and wants to spread her ideals and beliefs. She has a need to prove herself, a want to please, and to leave behind a good legacy. Her ambition often manifests in her rising early and embracing hard work and her warrior duties. She’s very determined as well. Her ambition makes her a good warrior because she has high standards for any apprentices she takes on, and diligently works to serve her Clan.
-Volatile: Splintersight’s most obvious trait would be her volatility. An already grumpy and snappy she-cat, she can be easily angered and quickly turn merciless in verbal and physical confrontations. She is unpredictable emotionally. She lacks emotional constraint sometimes, and remorse more often. She becomes aggressive when her dominance is questioned and may incite a fight or look for confrontations unnecessarily. The only cats that usually are free from blatant aggression from her would be her family. Additionally, she is overly critical of herself and has unrealistic expectations for herself. She has low tolerance for mistakes made by her family or by her apprentices. This makes her an unfriendly Clanmate.
-Stubborn: Splintersight is extremely stubborn. Stemming from her confidence, she is single-minded and is unwilling to compromise. She has trust issues and does not want to rely on others; she’d rather hunt and fight for herself, which also stems from her independence. She becomes defensive easily and is mistrustful, which causes her to be controlling. Additionally, she is stuck in her ways and biased against any cat that does not have ThistleClan blood or isn’t loyal to ThistleClan. She reacts negatively to criticism directed toward her or ThistleClan. Her stubbornness can make her draining to be around, and hard to befriend.
History
Splinterkit was born in the early 2017 season to Mistyfang, Graystar’s grand-daughter, and a rogue father. Splinterkit’s 3 siblings were all still-born. In the nursery, Splinterkit was probably the happiest she’d ever be in her life. Mistyfang kept her rogue father a secret from her, but the rest of the Clan knew very well about her heritage.
Upon her apprenticeship, Splinterpaw was looking forward to becoming a strong ThistleClan warrior. Unfortunately, she experienced constant taunts and bullying from the other apprentices and one escalated into a physical attack, where a den-mate blinded her left eye. After this, she learned of her true blood. Splinterpaw was furious with her mother and disowned her, instead embracing the part of her blood that was Graystar’s. Despite this, the rest of her family continued to avoid her and refused to accept her. Their refusal spurred her on, and she threw herself into her training and was named a warrior early at 11 moons: Splintersight, most likely because of her cloudy, scarred left eye. Additionally, Splinterpaw helped in the fight against the foxes and became angry that they were taking valuable warriors from the Clan.
2018-2019: During her early warriorhood, Splintersight challenged many other warriors to duels, often those who were of higher rank than her, and lose. The more duels she fought, however, the more experienced she became and also stronger and witty. She also proved herself by battling the foxes and her hatred for rogues grew due to Lily. The Clan’s respect for her grew. Splintersight supported Thievingstar becoming leader, and shared her mistrust of the tribe. She is also extremely cautious regarding the loners and rogues turning up at their borders.
Around this time, Splintersight sought a suitable mate to father her kits, seeking to create a legacy. She wanted Lynxfoot, an older tom, but he refused. She challenged him to a spar, and said that if she won, then he would father her kits. She won, and Lynxfoot agreed to bear her kits. Splintersight gives birth to Needlekit and Nettlekit, and makes their heritage known to them from the start. She refused to do unto them as her mother did unto her, and wanted to prepare them for the ridicule they would face outside the nursery. Splintersight did not shine as a mother, and constantly encouraged the sibling’s confrontations and pitted them against each other, for what she believed was in order to prepare them.
2020: Wanting her kits to be as strong as they possibly could, Splintersight constantly interrupted their training sessions, mistrustful of their mentors and unhappy with their progress. Thievingstar gave in to her demand to reassign Nettlepaw to Yellowtalon. During the flood, Splintersight managed to escape, but Lynxfoot drowned in his den. The she-cat showed little remorse. Additionally, she begins to grow frustrated with Thievingstar, especially regarding the rogues. She is furious when Aster is left as their only healer.
2021: Splintersight aided in the many fights against the rogues to take back their camp. She remained frustrated with the rogues and hated not having their camp. She was very worried that they’d never be able to return, and is very grateful when they can finally return. The she-cat helps diligently to rebuild. When Birchsong’s kit was stolen and Birchsong was banished, Splintersight supported her banishment wholeheartedly. She was fine with letting the rogues have the kit- it’s blood was sullied, anyway.
2022: Splintersight was unhappy with Meadowpaw becoming the medicine cat apprentice, believing her unworthy due to her blood. When LichenClan and the rogues attack the ThistleClan camp, Splintersight aids in the battle, fighting the rogues and LichenClan cats mercilessly. She was enraged when she discovered Needleleap’s injury, and pushed Stagstar and Firfoot to battle the rogues. She adjusted easily to Firfoot’s training, and disagreed with the alliance created with RedwoodClan. She felt that they shouldn’t need an alliance and were strong enough on their own. She helped Needleleap relearn how to fight with her injury, though she was often callous and not sympathetic. She wanted to help, but the pair grew tired of each other quickly. Splintersight fought in the final battle against LichenClan as one of the most experienced warriors, and they were victorious.
2023: Splintersight continues to try to help Needleleap recover and stay somewhat close to her children. She is struggling to maintain a positive relationship. Additionally, she is skeptical of ThistleClan’s leadership, and believes they should take advantage of their position in the most recent flood to take RedwoodClan territory. She hasn’t voiced this explicitly.
