molly

Appearance
Mottleheart is a sleek, muscular molly with a calico pattern etched across her back to the tip of her tail as well as the top of her head, accentuated by the strap of white across her shoulder blades. Her rounded face houses a pair of golden green lakes, deepened by the black and copper details surrounding them. Her long, silken pelt only disguised the molly’s height as she progressed through kithood, standing at just over 10.5 inches at the shoulder, the elegant she-cat often finds herself towering over most other she-cats within her clan.
Personality
Despite her formidable appearance, Mottleheart is a gentle-hearted molly, preferring to hear all sides of a story before coming to a decision. Because she gleans her happiness from helping others in whatever way she can, Mottleheart is known for her insatiable work ethic, working until the task at hand has been completed. Taking after her now deceased father, the she-cat is fiercely loyal over her clan mates, stopping at nothing to ensure her clan mates are shielded from harm.
Fearing failure, she can be rather withdrawn and shy in unfamiliar social situations, preferring to make her own observations from a safe distance. Due to her young age and emotional immaturity, Mottleheart has a tendency to become overstimulated, leaving her with a short emotional fuse and a sharp tongue; she can make vicious, personalized remarks towards undeserving felines in times of great stress.
History
Mottleheart's memory of her kithood is scarce, filled with mere fragmented moments of feeding from her mother's belly while her pelt was groomed until it lay smooth against her frame. She was her parents' only living kit, therefore the center of their attention as she blossomed into an elegant young molly.
Mottlepaw spent the majority of her adolescence training beneath her father, his lessons fueled by his dissatisfaction with having a single female heir instead of the son he so blatantly preferred. His undisguised disapproval motivated the she-cat to push herself beyond her limits, both in his lessons and her montor’s, often returning home to collapse against her more nurturing mother, who's teachings directly contradicted that of her male role models, encouraging purity and elegance. Her mother instilled kindness and patience into Mottlepaw, teaching her to hold her morals close to her heart.
Despite her father's best attempts, Mottleheart's personality resembled her mother's as she bloomed into a young adult, oozing with empathy and compassion. That is, until the most recent bloodshed claimed the lives of both her mother and father, leaving the young Mottleheart to navigate new, unfamiliar emotional territory without the guidance of either parental figure. With minimal life experience, the she-cat is forced to integrate herself into her clan as she explores the remainder of her life, conflicted by her perspective on the war and the deaths of the only family she ever knew. Her father, a dedicated war-fiend, had supported the war, going as far as to convince her mother to fight by his side instead of leaving her at camp, ultimately resulting in the pair’s demise. While Mottleheart admired her parents' bravery and dedication to their clan, their deaths planted a seed of into her heart and soul; the seed consisted of primarily fear, fear of attachment, fear of death, and fear of love.
Mottleheart’s fears only steepen when she thinks back on the stories her mentor had engraved to her memory throughout her apprenticeship, seeing the similarities between today’ conflict and that of from when the original clans were formed. In times like this, before the war, Mottleheart would have consulted with her previous mentor, seeking guidance and clarification from an unbiased source, often ridiculed by her father for being “too emotional”. Her mentor however also lost his life in the recent bloodshed between clans though his teachings did not fall on deaf ears as Mottleheart did her best to remain true to herself and her beliefs, cherishing her gentle nature in times such as this. Her internal conflict has only intensified as she observes her clan leader’s tactics in admiration, inspired by his determination to end the conflict and return peace, prosperity and brotherhood to all felines of the island, much like Heatherstar had tried to do so many moons ago.
