LightCLOUD
REDWOODCLAN
Elegant longhair torbie and white molly
warrior
molly
28
Appearance
10” at shoulder.
Lightcloud is a fine example of a Redwoodclan molly. Ancient genes have been passed down through generations to gift her with a well-shaped rectangular frame. Her head rests upon a tall neck which trails down into an extended midsection, giving her body an elegant and limber bearing. Her legs are long but sturdy, though mostly hidden by the bulk on her shoulders and her copious fur, so that mostly one sees only from her elbows to her paws.
Lightcloud’s fur is a watercolor study of the casting of shadows upon a forest floor. From her forehead, down her spine, falling over her sides and all the way to her tail tip her fur is a dappled visage of classic torbie markings that dance between ginger and black patches. On her face, down her chest and belly and all four of her legs, the torbie shadows are swallowed by pure white fur, which the molly keeps clean with a daily dedication of washing. Her fur is long and fluffy, not unlike a cloud which one can press against for comfort should they so choose.
Lightcloud’s face is shaped like a birch leaf. She has a wide forehead capped with large ears awash in her torbie markings, which end in black tufts of fur. Her gleaming golden eyes are crowned with a single black stripe above each, and separated by a thick blaze of white which stands out markedly when gazing at her profile. Her muzzle comes to a prim point, with a distinctive chin and pure white whiskers, capped with a very pale pink nose.

Personality
Empathetic - Charismatic - Gentle - Imaginative - Hopeless Romantic - Discreet - Passive - Humble - Self-effacing - Self-sacrificing - Sheltered
Lightcloud was raised to believe that a cat should embrace who they are and know what makes them individuals within the clan, even if they are different. This reflects not only upon herself and how she behaves, but also in how she treats others.
-She is caring and understanding of the problems others face, and is always open to talk or be good company to any cat that needs it. She is known among her peers for being a good listener, the type of molly that can sooth hurt feelings with her presence and calm tense situations with words that she applies like balm.
-She loves embracing the softer, more heartfelt duties of the camp. Lightcloud doesn't mind assisting the elders, she enjoys their stories and the wisdom they can offer. She can very often be found in the nursery, babysitting so that tired queens can get some rest.
-Lightcloud is a capable enough warrior but she is not prone to violence. If she fights it is defensively. She is not cowardly, but she does not care much for the idea of carving her name into the stories of valor told to kits. Though, she doesn't begrudge cats that enjoy fighting, and she admires the warriors that she sees as brave and skillful.
-If Lightcloud gets a thought she finds interesting, she often gets carried away with it. She can become distracted, to the point of forgetting her surroundings, if she isn't busy. She enjoys daydreaming about ideas she gets, including romance. Courtship, especially, is something that she thinks about quite a bit. Flirting is something she always enjoyed and she eagerly awaits the day when she finds that meaningful connection to someone that leads to true love.
-If pressed, she could admit the qualities that are good about herself, but she doesn't care to acknowledge them normally. She is modest and has a low opinion regarding her own importance. This can lead to her outright demeaning herself and her own capabilities when faced with a failure, and also means that she is more likely to accept a bully's mean words instead of arguing back. Not only that but she is always more likely to sacrifice her own needs, wants, or goals in order to help someone else accomplish their own. She tries to live vicariously through their deeds, but in the end is unfulfilled because what she wants isn't happening.
History
Lightkit was born to a loving mother named Leafshine, a queen that had no mate and seemed unbothered at the prospect. The only kit to be born, she was from the moment of her first breath cherished and raised lovingly by her mother. Her time in the nursery was never lonely, for there were kits born both before and after her in other litters. Luckily for her, she was too young to be exposed to the turmoil within the clan that had been brought about by a certain wanderer from across a sandbar. And when a violent storm appears to have destroyed it, Leafshine cannot help but feel relieved that her kit faced one less danger on the island.
Quickly it became clear to Leafshine - and any other queens that cared to notice - that Lightkit was a gentle soul. She was quiet and polite where others were rambunctious and causing havoc, and more inclined to pretending that a tree cone was a kit of her own than fighting in mock-battles. Her first six moons passed mostly without incident for Lightkit. Though around the time that Icesong was made deputy, and after witnessing her daughter buckle under the pressure of her peers during many play times, Leafshine began to fear that Lightkit was too unprepared for life as a warrior. Skirmishes were erupting between Redwoodclan and Lichenclan warriors constantly, and Leafshine felt a cold fear grip her at the idea of her young and untrained daughter caught in such a struggle.
There was only one warrior that could possibly do the job to train her properly, and foster the loving heart that rested within Lightkit. Robin-nose would be the one. So, when she was named Lightpaw she was entrusted into the care of a molly that Leafshine was sure would not fail her only child. And indeed Robin-nose was as great as could be hoped, because she did not stamp out Lightpaw’s sweet side and she did all she could to encourage the young she-cat to grow and try new things. But try as she might, Robin-nose could not get her apprentice to grow a tough outer shell that would help protect her in the trying times to come as an adult.
Perhaps her efforts would have been more successful, were it not for what Lightpaw was experiencing beyond Robin-nose’s watchful eye in a place that should have been safe – camp. The apprentice den, more specifically. Lightpaw had developed friendships with most of her peers, but with several she clashed instead. Perhaps because of her naivety, perhaps because of their abrasiveness. The result was that Lightpaw was bullied and treated cruelly by a few other apprentices, and due to her nature she did nothing to stop them. Instead she weathered the issues and was too busy blaming herself to consider telling her mentor.
Training progressed, and Lightpaw did all she could to learn from Robin-nose’s expertise at hunting. Lightpaw gained agility and quick reflexes, and caught her first squirrel with a sense of real accomplishment. She told herself that if she could just keep doing well, and avoid the cats that treated her badly, her time as an apprentice would fly by. Then she’d be a warrior – and warriors surely didn’t have such problems. Only it wasn’t to be, for in the last moons of Lightpaw’s time as an apprentice, Robin-nose had to leave for the nursery to prepare for her own kits.
The cat that replaced her was altogether different. Thornfall was older, more experienced, and had a tendency to drill her in moving through the trees while he lectured about the clan's history. Lightpaw didn't mind. She missed training with Robin-nose, but Thornfall was strong and capable and made her feel as though she could be too.
It wasn't long before the ever vigilant tom caught wind of the bullying tactics being used against her. When Wasp-paw set loose a snake in the apprentice den while Lightpaw was napping, and Lightpaw let loose a yowl loud enough to disturb Starclan, how could he not?
The senior warrior was quick to address it privately with his apprentice. It took some prying, but finally Lightpaw opened up to Thornfall about the way she'd been treated. The tom nodded and gave her sage words that he hoped she'd take to heart: "You can't let their words get to you, Lightpaw. They're only picking on you because they're insecure, and they're missing the gentleness you have within yourself. Try standing up for yourself some time. You don't have to stoop to their level and say mean things back, but you can draw your own boundaries. Make them think twice next time they want to pick on you." From then on he worked on making sure his apprentice was confident in herself. If the bullying continued, Lightpaw didn't tell him.
Lightpaw's time as an apprentice ended not long after, and though she was named Lightcloud and given a place in the warrior's den she did not find her life to be altogether different as she'd expected. She had more freedom, it was true. Doing her warrior duties was an important part of her life, but she had no qualms about spending time in the nursery to help the queens and watch little kits. And if those duties kept her out of the path of some of her more aggressive peers, all the better.
For some time, the war with Lichenclan was a distant thing which Lightcloud could be inclined to worry over but was not forced to witness. She had never been caught in a border skirmish as an apprentice, only having witnessed the large battle in which Redwoodclan had gained victory when Finchstar took one of Minnowstar's lives. But her time for the shellshock of true battle was fast approaching, when she was chosen to join the attack on Lichenclan's camp.
The tremulous terror she carried under her pelt as she strode upon unfamiliar stone that night would haunt her for moons afterwards. While not terribly injured in the fighting, she witnessed the brutality that Robin-nose and Thornfall had tried to earnestly to prepare her for with wide, horrified eyes. She fled the moment retreat was called, heart pounding with anxiety when she realized that her seemingly-invincible deputy Icesong had been nearly killed. The mourning for Lionpaw that followed in camp was only a distillation of Lightcloud's shock. From then on, she did not go near the borders alone, and tried to avoid all talk of the war. She only prayed inwardly to Starclan that it would end, and soon.
When it finally did, Lightcloud wasn't there to see it. Instead she was in the camp, tending to the elders and listening with one turned ear for the first sign of which way the fighting had turned. Now that war doesn't hold it's unsheathed claws over Redwoodclan, Lightcloud feels a fluttering hope that the island can be renewed - like the trees in Newleaf. And the young molly is fully prepared to do what she can to help her clan towards that future.
