Despite being of average size, Bumblestep is round and filled out. He's not very tall despite his RedwoodClan heritage and he often stands a paw shorter than his male peers. With thick legs, Bumblestep can come off as smaller than he is and any muscle he builds while training gets easily hidden beneath fat and fluff.

His cheeks are plump and his muzzle is short and stout, giving his face a circular look to it. Picking up a bit from both his parents, Bumblestep's expressions are large and exaggerated. His entire face emotes with every word.

His eyes are wide and large, looking like both of his parents combined. From afar, his eyes are a pretty blue-green, similar to the colour of grass. But when standing muzzle to muzzle with him, you can see the hint of blue is actually due to small slivers of blue. Although it's not as noticeable compared to other forms, it's certainly heterochromia (spectral heterochromia). He has green and blue eyes, something not even he or his family realize.

Despite being short, his fur is dense and thick, doing well to keep him warm in harsh winters. His sandy cream markings match those who have come before him. With the same muted orange as his mother and most of her family, Bumblestep doesn't stand out much. On top of the orange are faded, thin tabby stripes. While most of his fur is orange, his entire belly is pure white. His legs, while mostly white, have small patches of stripes and cream. The most noticeable thing about his face is a single spot of orange on the right side of his face, above his whiskers.

Bumblestep has mellowed out since his apprenticeship, but he's still a kind soul. He always looks for the best in others and tries his best to see the brighter side of things.

Sweet words can easily lead Bumblestep astray. He's naive and easy to manipulate. Growing up in a war that turned to peace, Bumblestep wishes everyone can get along. He wants to learn about the other clans and is open to making friends with everyone

Despite being easy to manipulate, Bumblestep is knowledgeable. He likes to keep old stories and lore. In an attempt to never let Parsnippetal be forgotten, he keeps the tales the tom told him alive by sharing them with kits and his peers.

Bumblestep is skittish and traumatized by seeing his mentor die. He's haunted by the forest and the dangers it brings. Rarely will Bumblestep go willingly to the redwood graveyard and the slightest cool wind will make him feel unsettled.

Two lovers split up by war, come together on the blood moon, their union a blessed one. Daffodilshimmer and Chicorypelt fell in love as apprentices and stuck together despite the ongoing conflict between their clans. Bumblekit along with his siblings Berrykit, Daisykit and Sunnykit will grow up without a father in the clan, only a single meeting with him in secret. The image of his father on that fateful night, his coat as bright as the moon and seemingly filled with stars stuck with Bumblekit. He never realized the tom was his father, instead remembering him as the "star cat".


Bumblepaw is apprenticed alongside his siblings. He is placed with a young warrior named Parsnippetal who grew up alongside Daffodilshimmer. Their time together was brief, as one day when out training, a blizzard rolled in. The two are caught out in the storm and seek shelter beside a tree. Parsnippetal spends his last days protecting Bumblepaw and telling the young tom stories. When he finally succumbs to the cold, something stirs Daffodilshimmer and she finds her way to her lost son, lying in Parsnippetal's embrace.

After his recovery, Bumblepaw is reassigned to Mintbreeze, a tom who has enough patience to handle the traumatized young tom. Thoughts of Parsnippetal's final moments still haunt the young tom. He finds a friend in Sandpaw, the apprentice of Mintbreeze’s brother Milkblaze. The two often train together and get roped into Milkblaze’s antics. Early spring, after the snow had melted, a great flood seized the island. Bumblepaw, Sandpaw and Blizzardpaw who were out hunting far from camp get caught in it. Bumblepaw almost washed away, but they managed to make it back to their nests unscathed but frightened. He pushes away the fear and finishes his training and is named Bumblestep alongside his friend Sandthroat. But the threat of war is on the horizon.


At the break of the new year, the sound of battle warns of more fights to come. Bumblestep starts to get lessons from Woodfrost on how to fight and he trains alongside Sandthroat. But something is pulling in his chest, reminding him of all the horrors he’s seen.
