Icicle that Melts at Dawn was born very small and skinny. So small, in fact, that his parents were warned that he might not make it through the night.
Which was why his current size ended up as a surprise to everyone. Standing at a tall, 11.5”, he’s taller than his mothers, siblings, and even his sire. Despite his height, however, he never really gained a lot of weight, and he is still quite skinny.
While not purebred, Icicle is of oriental longhair descent. This fact is quite easy to see, as not only does he have absolutely massive ears, he has a very distinct, pointed face, and a very long, feathery tail. His fur is long and tangles easily, meaning he has to take care to groom it often. Like his siblings, he neck fur is much thicker, looking almost like a mane.
Icicle is an exceptionally handsome cat, and a lot of that has to do with his pelt. His base coat is a stunning mix of silver and lilac, the colors blending together to give him very striking silver lilac color. He is a spotted tabby, and his pelt is full of darker spots.
Apart from his color, one of the most striking features Icicle has, are his eyes. The amber eyes of his sire mixed with the green eyes of his mom to create a pair of hazel eyes. His eyes are browner closer to the pupil, growing greener towards the edges. Their lemon shape accents their color perfectly.
Despite what his name might imply, Icicle is not mostly white. In fact, he has maybe 25% white spotting. A lot of it is hard to make out, specifically his white ear tips, white front toes, his white back right paw, and his single white toe on his back-left paw. The only obvious bit of white on him, is his white chin.
For most of his life, Icicle’s pelt was mark free. Without any clans to get into border skirmishes with, he managed to go quite a while without scars. It wasn’t until he turned twenty-eight moons that his pelt was marred by anything. Now, following the scrap with the coyotes that took Mist from him, he has a large, very bad bite mark on his back and side.
A bite mark that had took a while to finally stop being infected, and one that had barely finished healing before the fire erupted.
Now, he has burns on his paws and heels from when he was forced to climb an extremely hot rock.

Personality
+ Familial- Being born to a family as large as Icicle’s was, it should come as no surprise that he views family as very important. Even though he spends most of his day away from his family, he makes sure to have at least one meal with them every couple of days. He is so family-oriented, that, were he forced to choose between the tribe and his family, he’d choose his family every time.
+ Dedicated- A dedicated tom, there are few things that Icicle won’t see to the end. Bordering on stubborn, when Icicle decides on a goal, very little can dissuade him. For example, he wasn’t meant to be a cave-guard. He has the build of a prey-hunter, but he didn’t care. He preferred to fight, and despite it not coming as naturally to him as hunting did, he eventually managed to become a fairly good cave-guard.
+ Skeptical- Not one to believe everything he hears, Icicle is quite skeptical. He refuses to accept anything at face value, which can be annoying to others, though he doesn’t care.
+ Assertive- To say Icicle has no issue telling cats off would be an understatement. Extremely assertive, he refuses to let cats walk all over him or try to pull something over him. He has no problem sticking up for himself, and will do so without a second thought.
- Impulsive- While he is dedicated, Icicle also has a tendency to jump into things without thinking. It’s not uncommon for him to start something in the heat of the moment.
- Tribalistic- With Icicle being as family-oriented as he is, it should come as no surprise that he is extremely loyal to his family. Too loyal. Normally it would be a good thing, but he lets his belief that family comes first cloud his decisions. He will confront anyone and everyone he sees who is somehow being disloyal to their family.
- Opinionated- Icicle has quite the opinions, and most of the time, he has no issue sharing them. In particular, he firmly believes that Fog is no longer fit to be teller, and is vocal to his family about his support of Sumac.
- Petty- Icicle holds grudges. He holds them for a while. But he isn’t one for revenge. Instead, it’s more likely that he’ll do something petty like take the last piece of prey before the cat he is upset with can.
History
Icicle that Melts at Dawn’s family is a bit different than most, but he wouldn’t change it for the world. Born to two mollies, Starlight that Shines on Lake and Snowflake that Falls from Clouds he was sired by a tom named Leaf that Shakes in Storm. Biologically, he is the youngest son of Starlight and Leaf, though he doesn’t really know that, nor does he care.
See, Starlight and Snowflake wanted kits, and decided that they’d each try with Leaf to see if they could become pregnant. They didn’t expect for them both to become pregnant at the same time.
Starlight’s litter was born first, consisting of three mollies, Thunder of the Coming Storm, Sunlight on Snowy Hill, and Shadow that Falls During Night, and one tom, Icicle that Melts at Dawn.
A few weeks later, when the first litter had started to open their eyes, Snowflake gave birth to her litter, a tom named Rain that Splashes in Puddle, a tom named Breeze that Carries Petals, and finally, a little molly named Flower that Blooms at Dusk.
For two moons, the group of seven kits were happy. Shielded from the sickness that had taken their sire the day before Starlight had given birth, they had no reason to think anything was wrong.
But then, Flower grew sick, and Rain followed soon after. The day those two were moved to the teller’s den, Thunder and Sunlight began to show symptoms.
All four deteriorated quickly, and it was soon very obvious that they would need a miracle to make it.
Unfortunately, they didn’t get a miracle. Smoke, Icicle, and Breeze were forced to watch their siblings grow weaker and weaker from a distance, only having Starlight for physical comfort since their mothers had made the choice for Snowflake to stay with the sick kits.
Then, at three moons old, Flower passed. Sunlight went later that day, and Thunder and Rain went the day after.
The family was devastated by the deaths, and the three remaining siblings began to grow even closer. For a little bit, they were left alone. Allowed to grieve as their mothers did their best to comfort the trio.
For a while, it seemed like maybe the family could get through this without incident.
Then, when Icicle was five moons old, Snowflake grew ill.
The family was devastated. Icicle found himself asking Starlight if the Tribe of Endless Hunting was going to take all of them. He stopped playing, spending most of his time staring at the teller’s den, hoping and praying that his momma would come back while his mom did her best to keep all three of the surviving kits from thinking about Snowflake.
But Snowflake was stronger than the four kits. She had survived longer. While the sickness took a lot out of her, she held on.
Half a moon later, the tribe got their paws on the cure.
The first day Snowflake was allowed out of the teller’s den was the day Smoke, Icicle, and Breeze were made into to-bes.
With his body as skinny and gangly as it was, Icicle was made a prey-hunter to-be like his siblings and mothers. He was good at it, and the motions of hunting came naturally to him, but he felt empty.
He kept quiet about this, even after he found a joy in his stone-guard training, and when he turned twelve moons old, he was made a prey-hunter fledgling.
Still, he found himself dreading each training session.
He tried to shove the feeling down, but it was fruitless. It wasn’t until he had ran from a training session and straight into an old, silver, green eyed cave-guard tom named Mist that Forms in Morning that he realized what was going on.
Mist asked him what was wrong, stopping his own self-training session in order to talk to the young tom. Icicle, too tired to hide his feelings any more, told the tom everything.
He explained how he came from a line of prey-hunters but he hated hunting. He explained how proud his moms were when he caught his first prey. He told him how he missed the play fighting he and his siblings did when they were kits. He told Mist how much he loved the stone-guard training he had been given. He told Mist everything.
And Mist listened. He explained to the young tom how not every cat was fit for the role they start in. He offered to teach Icicle to fight for an afternoon to see if he truly liked it.
So Icicle agreed. And, as expected, he loved it. And Mist, despite the fact that Icicle was behind in training, agreed that he had a knack for it.
That night, he approached Snowflake, Starlight, Talon of Owl who Hunts at Dawn (@wolfie) and Creek that Breaks the Stone and asked to become a stone-guard fledgling.
Mist was there the whole time, sticking by his side and advocating for the young tom. Eventually, Creek agreed to let Icicle train as a stone-guard.
At sixteen moons, he was far behind other stone-guard fledglings, but he didn’t care. He drifted closer and closer to Mist, who was more than willing to help him train.
During this, a molly named Feather that Drifts in Breeze began to help him during training, and at twenty-two moons, he finally became a full stone-guard.
It was then that he started to fall for Feather.
The pair were close, close enough that his entire family would tease him about his relationship with Feather, but Icicle didn’t care. Afraid of losing her as a friend, he refused to say anything.
Unfortunately, at twenty-eight moons old, he learned that this was the worst mistake he could have made.
It had been a normal day. He and Feather were out on a walk. It was a nice day. He had finally worked up the courage to ask Feather to be his mate when coyotes descended upon them.
He can’t remember much of the fight, as a coyote had grabbed him and flung him into a rock soon after it began, but when he woke up, he was in Fog that Hangs in Air’s (moony) den, a large bite wound on his back and with Feather nowhere to be seen.
She had perished in the fight.
Now, Icicle had been having his doubts about Fog being the teller, but he didn’t say anything. But when Feather died? Well, that was the pine needle that broke the stag’s back.
He believed that Fog wasn’t fit to be teller anymore. He couldn’t bring himself to tell others this… until Sumac that Sways over Moor (Egotistic) came forwards and voiced the feelings that Icicle had been too afraid to speak.
Four moons ago, Icicle watched as Breeze welcomed new life into the family. The family had stayed extremely close, all of them supporting Icicle’s choice to become a stone-guard. So, when Breeze and his mate Dawn Breaking Beyond Arbored Hills welcomed in two kits, Sparrow that Chirps at Dawn (spotty) and Melody of Meadowlark’s Song (lightning), it was a celebration.
For two moons, life seemed to be looking up for the family.
And then the fire erupted.
The family was separated by the flames, and Icicle found himself stuck. Snowflake, Starlight, and Breeze came to his aid, but he still burned himself on the hot rock he was forced to climb.
The smoke separated the four again, and eventually, Icicle made his way to Rock Where Leaves Fall. Soon after, Breeze met him there.
When the tribe was finally able to come home, the true extent of the damage was revealed. While Mist and Shadow had evacuated to a separate island, Starlight and Snowflake were nowhere to be found.
Furthermore, Breeze’s mate Dawn had perished saving their kits.
Now, with his mothers missing, his sister suddenly growing distant from him, and his brother treating Sparrow and Melody horribly and blaming them for Dawn’s death, Icicle is alone.
Alone, and of the belief that Fog is the reason behind everything.
