Redfox
RedwoodClan
Smaller red mackerel tabby with deep orange eyes.
deputy
she-cat
47 moons
Appearance
Redfox is a relatively unusual RedwoodClan cat. While she does have the strong muscles and thick pelt that most define those of the clan, her stature is an oddity. It seemed that after a certain age of maybe around eight moons she stopped growing, leaving her below the average in height. The sheer size of her clanmates seem to make her seem even smaller though, but she thanks StarClan daily that she seems to be in proportion. Her legs aren’t stubby, and her tail is as long as it should be. She’s just small, and it is something she has come to terms with.
Though her height may hide her in a crowd, her pelt draws your eye. The brilliant red always seems to pierce through the darkness. A stark contrast to the eerie night sky, but a beautiful addition to the territory she calls home. All four of her paw tips are white, leading up to the inside of her legs, stomach, chest, and muzzle. Surrounding her eyes is a white mask, illuminating her face and contrasting with her bright orange eyes. Her pink nose features a scar running straight down the middle, a reminder of an accident back in her apprenticeship. Though she has numerous battle scars, none are big enough to be noticed through her thick pelt.
Despite her size, she has an aura of authority and confidence around her. Often, she likes to keep her fur slightly raised even if it only makes her seem vaguely more threatening than she was before.

Personality
From birth, Redfox always stood out as a cat full of personality. A tired queen may describe her as “hard to maintain” while a hardened warrior may describe her as “promising”. In general, Redfox is either a cat you love or a cat you hate. She knows this, and she understands this.
One of the most notable of personality traits includes her outspokenness. Though to some of the elders this may be a negative, it has so far proven as a positive in her life. It is easy to simply let things slide by you in life, letting that comment by a clanmate go or your idea put to the backburner. But this is simply something Redfox cannot do well. She is the voice to those less heard, often repeating what a softer spoken cat says so their ideas are put in the mix, or standing up to a rude cat for herself or her friend. No cat should go unheard, she firmly believes, and she will make sure they are. That includes herself and her thoughts and opinions. Which, fortunately, are typically well thought out and intelligent enough. Politics comes easy to her.
With her outspokenness comes with the eyes of her clanmates. When those older than her started to note her intelligence and vocal capabilities, they began to praise her. When she was praised, cats her age started to look to her for what they should be doing. Acting as a leader among her peer group, gave her a taste of what it could be like as leader and grew her ambitious nature. Her ambition touches and colors every aspect of her life. As for personal ambitions, she dreams of being the Leader one day. While she respects Finchstar dearly, Redstar just sounds too good. Every day as Deputy, she works to prove to her clanmates that she is worthy of the name. In addition to rising through the ranks, hunger drives her to find a mate that matches her ambitions. A power couple, if you will. Where she could then raise the greatest kits the clan as ever seen. Her ambition doesn’t stop for her personal goals, and too reaches to the clan. Wholeheartedly she believes that RedwoodClan should be the biggest, strongest, and most threatening clan of the lake. Partnered with her outspoken and mind for politics, she leaves no doubt she can lead the clan to this level of excellence. Plans are forming as we speak.
Although all that we have discussed so far could be seen as negative as well, Redfox have a few for-sure faults.
To many, Redfox can sometimes come off as apathetic. This isn’t truly the case. The red warrior truly does care about how her clanmates feel and believes she takes their emotions into consideration. The real struggle is the fact that she just hasn’t gotten a solid grasp on how to communicate effectively. She will always listen to her clanmates, but her reply may come off as harsh or uncaring. Bad news doesn’t seem to affect her and she can easily accept it and move on in a single breath. A request for a day off of patrolling may be met with a comment about weakening the clan for the day, as an example. However, she does recognize this and does want to work on it but has been failing thus far.
With ambition and the desire to bring RedwoodClan to being the best, her war hungry attitude matches that of Minnowstar. Constantly strategizing, Redfox goes over Minnowstar’s words over and over, carefully picking up hints. Actions from all of the clans are noted, but particularly Minnowstar’s as secretly, Redfox looks up to the other and sees herself in the slightly older cat but… you know… better. Driving her clanmates to train harder, to be stronger, faster, better is a little bit of an obsession for the Deputy. But perhaps, it’s what the clan needs to survive the next few moons.
As Deputy, Redfox compliments Finchstar well. Her spine and backbone gives Finchstar someone to rely on in regards to politics, war, and dealing out necessary daily punishments for warriors. However, Finchstar’s empathy and kindness smooths out Redfox’s rough edges.

History
Redfox was born about 41 moons ago to her mother Batheart and her father Oakstep. The two were not in love, and decided to produce a litter in the name of strengthening the clan through numbers. The two were cordial to each other, but did not hide the fact they were not in love from Redkit, whom grew up jealous of the other kits and loving parents. Her kithood was normal, but filled with praise from her father Oakstep. Being the only kit in the litter, Redkit received more than enough attention.
Redpaw was quickly made an apprentice when she hit the age of six moons. Oakstep was a respected warrior, and she knew from the beginning she wanted to be like him. She excelled at her training despite a few incidents of repremendation for challenging authority. Despite her lack of typical respect of eldership, she soon became the apprentice her peers looked to for advice and as a marker for their successes. Despite going through the battles with LichenClan, Redfox considers her apprenticeship relatively uneventful even though her mother Batheart was killed in a squirmish. Redpaw jumped from crush to crush, but found that she lacked the romance she so craved in her bones.
Finally when she hit 12 moons, Redfox was named a warrior. She accepted her ceremony with pride and a bleeding nose from a squirmish just heartbeats before. Her suffix, fox, quite pleased her. The name was given to her for her cleverness and intelligence yet her ferociousness in battle. To this day, she holds this name in high esteem.
The momentum she gained during her apprenticeship only accelerated as a warrior. This time, her father was found dead one morning from a strange illness. Left with no known family besides the ties created in life, Redfox for the first time was thrown out of commission for a moon or two. The loneliness hit her, causing a deep depression. The usually outspoken warrior became quiet for a period of time before slowly healing herself and coming back out of her shell. It was her ambition that drove her on. Her clan needed her.
With the death of the previous deputy, Redfox hoped her brief period of neglect of the clan would go unnoticed. With bated breath, Redfox waited for Finchstar to announce her name. Willing it. Saying it over and over in her head. But when the words really escaped his mouth, Redfox still felt the shock before the breath of relief escaped her maw. She would have the opportunity to lead.
Redfox has only been deputy a few moons now, but has already worked tirelessly to prove her worth. The position is hers, all she has to do is keep it. With the goal of reaching the top - for now - met, she now focuses on that lifelong feeling of romance she craves with every pawstep into the future.
