Goldenpaw
redwoodclan
long haired mottled gray and black tom with amber eyes.
warrior
Tom
18 moons
Appearance 267
Goldenpaw, even as an apprentice, does not look like the cat to mess with. This tom is big, and his dense coat of fur does wonders in increasing his mass. If it wasn't for his protective cloak, you would be able to see the muscles that construct his body in it's intimidating structure. But, as he is he looks more like a big fluff ball. His massive paws are a bit of a different story, hiding black claws that are surprisingly short. He packs a punch, but doing more than bruises is not exactly his specialty. On the other hand, he can definitely pack a bite. Not only does he have a strong set of jaws, but his pearly white fangs definitely make up for the size of his claws, in length and in width. One of his fangs can actually be seen peeking out when his mouth his closed, which he considers his lucky tooth. Maybe they should call him Goldentooth when he's older. (please no)
As far as his coloring goes, his face, paws, tail and spine have a dark gray, almost black smear that is only subtly interrupted by flecks of ash gray. The rest of his body takes on a much more smokey gray take on his darker colors, mottling into his lighter shades that make up most of his pelt. His chest and the inside of his ears are particularly light in color, almost giving him a mane of white. His pale amber eyes make a nice contrast to his chromatic look, although a more vivid gold color would have suited him better.

Personality 515
- serious: Goldenpaw, even at his young age, isn't too keen on showing emotion. Whether he hides it or it's just a natural part of his personality is unclear even to himself. His sense of humor might as well be nonexistent as well, and that might just be from denseness. Either way, you can always bet that Goldenpaw has a dead pan look on his face. It's not like he is serious to the point where he is intentionally rude, but it's not like he is also the type of cat where you can just walk up to and expect a full on friendly conversation. He is definitely an all business type of cat, and rarely lets himself indulge in the wonders of life such as friends, relationships or just enjoying a walk to himself. If he isn't doing something productive, it gives him anxiety. If he is wasting his time at all, even cleaning himself is better than just sitting there. But the problem with that is he overworks himself. In fact, he suffers from insomnia he is so anxious about being unproductive. Just even imagining wasting his precious hours doing nothing but being completely still in one spot makes falling asleep practically impossible. If it weren't for the scent of his brother, he would probably turn into a zombie.
-neglect: Speaking of his brother, Ruepaw is probably the only cat that he could ever keep relations with. Goldenpaw is terrible at neglecting his social responsibilities. If he could live in isolation, he would. Although he's always wished he had someone to call a close comrade. Goldenpaw has never been interested in love, in fact he probably has a phobia when it comes to the delicate word. But even a mentor he could look up to would be nice. But for Goldenpaw, finding trust in anyone was difficult. As much as he craved trust, he could never bring himself to return it. And because of that, there really wasn't much he could do in terms of building relations. Because the second he would, he would break them down and neglect them.
- ambitious/determined: Goldenpaw has ambition to match his work ethic. He wants to be the best, and he is willing to put anything on the line for that goal. Whether that be relentless training or practicing self discipline, Goldenpaw wants to improve. He doesn't want to be leader by any means, but that was only because he lacked the communal love and dedication it needs to be in that role. Now, if the leader's only responsibility was to be the best warrior in the Clan, that would be a different story entirely. It's hard to distinguish between him being ambitious, and him being stubborn, unfortunately. Goldenpaw has an equal supply of both. Goldenpaw can never be wrong, and convincing him otherwise is practically impossible without some solid facts. Fighting a battle that is soley based on opinions won't ever end well when it comes to this tom. He's not stupid, he just hates being wrong. And as an apprentice, he sure is wrong a lot.

History 485
Goldenpaw's history has a tragic start, not having a father to witness his own birth. His father, Dandelioncloud, ended up being a bloody product of LichenClan's and RedwoodClan's consistent tensions, and a border skirmish would be the last thing his father would live for. Being a good-hearted and loving mate, it couldn't have been more of an unfortunate turn of events that Goldenpaw would end up lacking that paternal figure in his life, especially for how much he craved someone to look up to, but if it wasn't for his mother Tansytoes' motherly instinct, he probably wouldn't even be alive right now.
Why? Well, starving would do that to you. But after a desperate trek to LichenClan's border, she had managed to find aid that would provide almost as useful as her own mate's. Goldenscale. Offering to hunt and collect food for the soon to be mother, it was an every day ordeal that would end up saving him and his mother's life. Up until she would have her kits: Ruekit, Willowkit, and Goldenkit. It was obvious by Goldenkit's color that he definitely wasn't named after his appearance.
Goldenkit was a bossy kit, always having to do things his way. Throughout their lives in the nursery Goldenkit had claimed leader of their trio. He would be more aggressive to his brother, Ruekit, in pure frustration that he was so quiet. He would always try to find ways to get a reaction out of Ruekit, and deep down he was a little hurt Ruekit's seemed more interested in watching the scenery than him. He would always try to deserve his brother's attention.
Then something would happen that would put a damper on Goldenpaw's rambunctious spirit.
Seven moons into his apprenticeship, Goldenpaw and his siblings would face the legend that he was named after. For his entire life, Goldenscale had more of an impact on him than his own father with the countless stories his mother would tell him and his littermates. He was the equivalent to a savior in the family's eyes. But after being involved in yet another border skirmish on LichenClan's border, he would realize reality wasn't that simple. Goldenscale was actually an enemy. But he wouldn't get up and close with the warrior until the ground under his feet ceased to exist. In the midst of the battle, Goldenpaw had tempted an opposing warrior too far with his own undeserved confidence, and was thrown like a piece of meat into the unforgiving waters. And that's when he would get his first good look at the cat he was named after. Saving him. A LichenClan warrior.
This would turn the tides in Goldenpaw's mind, finding himself having no trust in any cat anymore. He didn't know who was enemy. Who was friend. If he deserved his own name, or if he should spit on it. Goldenpaw matured after that day, but it might have not been for the best.
