daffodilshimmer
redwoodclan
a small cream and white molly with amber eyes.
warrior
cisgender female (she/her)
twenty-eight moons
Appearance
Smaller than average and lacking in the traditional muscular build of her clanmates, an outsider might confuse the she-cat for a Lichenclanner at first. Daffodilshimmer was a sickly and weak kit and it's clear that kittenhood had a lasting impact. Despite being rather healthy after, as an apprentice she was on the scrawnier side and looked as though a strong breeze would knock her over. Now, as an adult and recent mother, she sports a softer stomach and flanks from moons spent settling into the nursery. She stands at roughly shoulder height with most of her clanmates. Specifically older or taller cats, who notably would find themselves having to tilt their heads to speak directly at her.
Her pelt is a pale ginger and white. A color too faint to match her clanmates’ more vibrant reddish or earthy ones, but right at home alongside her family’s coloring. She has faint tabby markings, primarily on her face. Aside from it being dense and short, her pelt is well-groomed. Often, Daffodilshimmer delights in finding pretty flowers or petals to “wear.”
Daffodilshimmer has a very sweet-looking face with large amber eyes and a heart-shaped pink nose. She is very easy to read as she isn’t always great at concealing her true emotions. Her gaze is wide and often wandering. She has long white whiskers.

Personality
+ curious, dedicated, optimistic, soft-spoken
- somewhat timid, naive, passive, frivolous
Daffodilshimmer spent a lot of her kittenhood in the nursery alongside her sister and that time spent being cooped up led to an inquisitive nature to put it lightly. Once she was healthy enough for it, she spent most of her remaining kit moons learning everything she could and developing a taste for exploring. She maintained a very positive attitude and continued to be an overall very dedicated apprentice. Going as far as to take on tasks her peers complained about, such as gathering moss or assisting elders with ticks.
However, her gentle nature and tendency to be more compliant means Daffodilshimmer often submits to any cat who comes across very strongly. This most often comes out among her peers. She frequently appears uncomfortable to see others being mistreated, but does nothing in the moment to stand up for them. She remains very good friends with some of the apprentices who are antagonistic, despite the occasional poor treatment she receives. She genuinely believes the ‘explanations’ given to her, because she very strongly believes that no cat truly has malicious intentions.
Finally, Daffodilshimmer usually spends her free time doing things that most other cats would consider to be a waste of time. She might search for especially vibrant leaves, flowers, feathers, even the discarded wings of butterflies or moths. This treasure-hunting habit has gotten her into trouble more than once, considering she could be using her time more productively.

History
Acornfur and Fishleg’s second litter was already set up by having to follow in the pawsteps of their first. Gorseflame and his sisters were model RedwoodClan warriors. Strong, brave, though perhaps a bit too reckless. All of Daffodilkit’s life she’d been hearing about how admirable her older siblings, especially Gorseflame, were. Though Asterkit and she had a long way to go before they could come close to comparing, Daffodilkit was certain one day they would.
And so most of recent apprenticeship has been spent training alongside her sister with Gorseflame. While her fighting sessions have never been anything impressive, it’s clear her strengths lie in climbing. Despite her small size and lack of stamina, Daffodilpaw can maneuver the clan’s territory just as well, if not better, than her fellow apprentices. Often she scouts out the branches closer to the top for treasures or will climb to the top for the view early in the morning.
She is vaguely aware of the discourse between Gorseflame and Marigoldsong, although she doesn’t truly understand. She’s never known her older brother as anything other than adoring and patient. Idolizing him is putting it lightly. Daffodilpaw would likely be devastated to find out the truth of his nature.
Talk of war with Lichenclan makes the young apprentice uneasy. Like many of her clanmates, she does not believe LichenClan is in the right to claim the sacred Mooncave for their own. Daffodilpaw knows the war is many moons older than she is, but she hopes under Finchstar's leadership, a nonviolent solution can be found, though she is not so naive as to hope for something as fantastical as an armistice. The thought of heading into a vicious battle so soon into her apprenticeship unnerves her.
Luckily, she never had to face the war. Instead, Daffodilshimmer found herself blessed enough to find bliss in motherhood after a whirlwind romance across the enemy border ignited after a chance encounter in her early apprenticeship moons.
Daffodilshimmer was able to stave off despair and hardship for many moons but nothing lasts forever. Right after the fall of LichenClan tyrant, Minnowstar, she shuffled her kits out to see Chicorypelt at the border one night. At the end of their lovers’ rendezvous, Falconfire tracked Chicorypelt’s scent to the border where he saw everything. Berrykit ran back and Daffodilshimmer followed, leaving them both to witness the horrific and brutal murder of the tom at the paws of the former-loyalist.
Left in despair, the queen looks to her children and her clanmates to find the strength to go on…and possibly find something blossoming again with the mysterious, stoic Heavyshadow.
