Swoop of
hunting Eagle
Tribe of Floating Stones
ginger-and-white classic tabby tom with amber eyes
prey-hunter
Tom
23 moons
Appearance
Swoop of Hunting Eagle, also known as Swoop, is a bright ginger tom with dark, richly-colored red classic tabby markings swirling around his hide. His fur is somewhat thick with a slight fluffiness to it while still being short. He has a wide, white muzzle, blaze, and his lower half from the shoulders down is pure white. His tail remains a bright orange, though, no white tip for him.
His head has a circular shape to it without being overly round or obtuse, and his ears sit somewhat close together. His eyes are almond-shaped and a very light shade of amber.
He is average-sized and, if anything, he leans toward a smaller stature. He is compact, well-proportioned, and lacks the length or angular look that some of the other tribe cats have. He's well-muscled because of his active lifestyle, although usually he has a little layer of fat covering up that muscle (he tends to eat big portions). He's a fairly simple cat physically, nothing too exaggerated about his features.
Swoop has very good stamina and is stronger and faster than he ever thinks in spite of his self-perceived weakness. He is, however, a klutz.
His voice is high without being shrill and has a softness to it.
He doesn't have much scarring, especially not any scars that are visible.

Personality
Swoop would probably never say something to intentionally offend someone else, not unless they really deserved it. Even then, there are definitely better candidates for giving out tongue-lashings. Even if he felt that another cat deserved to be cuffed over the ears, he has a very strong tolerance for pretty much everything from annoying kits to rule-breakers to being walked all over. It's both a curse and a virtue.
While he is very patient and polite (especially for his age), he's also very meek and cowardly. He would rather submit to the wills of and tolerate others than argue or fight, especially since he hasn't much confidence in his abilities to defend himself - verbally or physically. He's fully aware of his own weaknesses, though. In fact, he's hyper-aware of them and it only feeds his insecurities more since he isn't sure how he can work on himself... or if he can at all.
This causes Swoop to keep to himself, for the most part. He's not a recluse, per se, but he is quiet and shy. He'd rather let everyone else do the conversating or decision-making and, at the end of it all, he'll be there to lend a helping paw or simply a listening ear. That is one thing he's good for, at least; support. He's very amicable and he has a certain sort of compassion for others that compels him to do kind things. He is a loving guy, and secretly starving for positive attention. So much so that he is visibly happier whenever that does happen. He makes a quiet effort to show his tribe members that he cares about them and is a very dedicated hunter.
Swoop has, however, lived a bit of a cushy life for a wild cat. Without much outside interference from the rest of the world, he's grown up without a need to fight battles or defend territory or anything along those lines. Such things rarely even cross his mind. Because of that, he's not the bravest of the bunch.. some may even call him a coward. He can't help it. The instances where he is confronted by danger, his solution is always to hide or run away. There is not a fiber of his being that would rather stand and fight. His flight instincts take over long before he can quell them, and it is perhaps one of his most dangerous traits.

History
Swoop and his sister were raised by their mother, and her alone. They never knew their father, and growing up without one was just a part of life for them. For the most part, they shrugged it off because their mother was just great all by herself. She spent a lot of time playing with them, not just watching them like some of the other kit-mothers would always do. She taught them to be kind and respectful and patient, and to say 'please' and 'thank you'.
From the start, Swoop was a quiet kit. His sister was much more socially inclined and someone always ended up speaking for him because he tended to be pretty shy. He was the type of kit to hide behind his mother when older cats tried to talk to him. Everyone brushed it off, but as Swoop got older he resented that part of himself. He wished he could make friends as easily as his sister did.
As a to-be, Swoop was eager to do well... but very hard on himself when he under-performed or made a mistake. He was extremely self-conscious of them and tended to give up if he wasn't good at something. Fighting was definitely his worst skill, but he did love the thrill of a good hunt. Because he knew he would become a prey-hunter a few moons after he started training. He devoted as much of his training to it as he could before he was even assigned to train under the prey-hunters, and when he finally was, he realized that he still had a lot to learn.
His sister became a stone-guard before he became a prey-hunter. He blames it on his self-doubt; he always hesitated at the wrong moments and sometimes it seemed as though his true skills couldn't shine through at all because of his own insecurities. Which made him look terrible, but his mother (a guard) noticed his struggling and tried to give him as much help as she could. She encouraged him to let his instincts guide him, and to think less while he was hunting; to live in the moment.
It helped, slowly at first but after a few moons, Swoop was excelling at hunting and graduated to official prey-hunter a little under 14 moons old. His mother and sister both expressed how proud they were of him when that happened. It taught him a valuable lesson; to not give up on something he really wants.
Becoming a full-fledged prey-hunter also gave Swoop a boost of confidence in that role. It's a good thing about himself that gives him a sense of pride, accomplishment, and importance. He loves doing it and often goes on long hunts to unwind and escape his stress.
Swoop's mother became deathly ill around the time he was 17 moons old. He refused to leave her side during the ordeal except to go on the odd hunt out of obligation to his Clan. That was, until he too became sick. After that, the rest of the tribe was advised to limit interaction with the sickly to avoid a breakout. Swoop's stress over his mother's failing health did nothing but worsen his own condition since there were times he could not eat or sleep, and soon he was also seriously ill.
It was not long before his mother passed away in his and his sister's embraces. It took Swoop a few solid weeks to fully recover. Fortunately, his youth was a source of strength and he pulled through in spite of the seriousness of it.
He took things easy after that, mostly because the loss of his mother was really hard on him - especially since he watched her strength and life fade quickly and unexpectedly. He's recently returned to his duties in full swing; moving on slowly, but surely. The loss gave him a new appreciation for the ones he does have, like his sister and his tribe.
