Cedarflame
Thistleclan
Brown tabby she-cat with green eyes
warrior
she-cat
57 moons
Appearance
Cedarflame was named for the color of her pelt. She had brown fur, darkened by clustered, thin black stripes. Her fur is a lighter amber color on her underside; belly, chest and chin. Especially around her paws, between her toes, her fur is very dark, almost totally black. She has dark rings around her eyes and greatly emphasize her eyes. Her eyes are a bit large compared to her face. There is a ring of a lighter yellow color around her pupils that fades out to green as it goes out. She has fairly short, white whiskers.
Cedarflame is a slip of a cat, on the shorter side with a slender build. She is more agile than she is actually powerful and relies on speed more than strength in fights. Her paws are petite with dark orange-pink skin on the pads and house small, needle-sharp claws. The claws are dark in color and somewhat translucent. Her ears are small, tufted and somewhat wide set. She has a few minor scars from the fights she had to participate in as a warrior. She does try to fight in a way that avoids injury in order to maintain her self perceived good looks.

Personality
Cedarflame isn't afraid to do whatever she has to do to get ahead. From cheating on her mate simply because he told her no to using two of her kits to try and manipulate the third into behaving the way she wants. She knows what to say to get what she wants and she proved that when she convinced Adderstrike to be her mate. She is known to be outspoken, pushy, bossy, headstrong and any other synonym you could think of to describe a generally overbearing cat. She will not stop needling until she gets her way.
She keeps information on a need to know basis and is far from an open book. She puts forth only what she wants the Clan to see. A devoted mother and mate, a faithful warrior, someone to be respected. She also likes to hold onto important information until it is beneficial to her to reveal what she knows.
While she does have a genuine soft spot for her kits, she also is on constant watch for what they can do for her. It is very important that her Clanmates view her and her family as perfect. She doesn't tolerate well any misbehavior from her offspring that could bring shame onto their family. That being said, it is no secret that Cedarflame doesn't always get along with her daughter Foxshade. It is a source of shame for her because she thinks that kits should respect their parents, but it was no secret that Cedarflame didn't have Foxshade's respect. Despite that, she still tries to control and guide the lives of her kits.

History
Cedarflame had a relatively uneventful early life. Her father was a well respected member of the Clan, but distant so she was never close to him, but got to piggyback off of his status a bit. Her mother taught her from a very young age how to manipulate and scheme to get what she wanted. She raised Cedarflame to be a pushy, determined, headstrong adult. Near the end of her apprenticeship, she began thinking about how to gain respect as a warrior and set her eyes on the warrior Adderstrike, merely 19 moons older than herself. With his age and wisdom came respect from their Clanmates and Cedar knew that if she could win his favor, she could gain some of the respect he earned as well. A few moons after she became a warrior she started trying to win his heart. Even though he kept turning her down, claiming to be too old for her, eventually her persistence paid off and they became mates. She played the sweet, affectionate mate to Adderstrike even though her heart wasn't truly behind it.
Her first litter brought three kits into the Clan, Foxkit, Tawnykit and Mintkit. Cedarflame thrived on the attention she received from her Clanmates while pregnant and nursing. While she did love her kits, it soon became clear that she and Foxkit clashed. Unsure how to deal with her spitfire of a daughter, Cedarflame paid most of her attention to Tawnykit and Mintkit instead. She let Adderstrike deal with Foxkit. Cedarflame loved having cats that loved her. Cats that needed her, who depended on her. She kept Tawnykit and Mintkit close, showering them with affection until all three of her kits moved to the apprentices' den.
Back in the warriors den, Cedarflame was getting less attention from her Clanmates, but more noticeably, less attention from her mate. Even her kits seemed too busy for her. Mintpaw would frequently ask her to join him for meals which she appreciated but it seemed like her daughters were too busy picking fights with one another to pay attention to her anymore. She was embarrassed by Foxpaw's hot headedness and the trouble she always seemed to be in with her denmates. She paid no heed to any bullying her kits went through, wishing instead that they would just put their heads down and be quiet.
As their apprenticeship progressed, Cedarflame realized soon her kits would be warriors. Full fledged adults who wouldn't need her at all anymore and she began to panic. She approached Adderstrike and told him she wanted to have more kits. He looked tired. He reminded her that he thought he was too old LAST time to be fathering kits and that was nearly four seasons ago. Quietly, out of earshot from the rest of the Clan, Cedarflame would argue with him. To Adderstrike's credit, he tried to be gentle with her but was firm in his 'no'.
And so Cedarflame found a different option.
Though she was sure Adderstrike must know, when she announced her second pregnancy, he stayed quiet. Cedarflame convinced herself that he didn't know and relished in the fact that her family wouldn't fall apart. She could keep the real father of her kits a secret, she wouldn't be outed as unfaithful, and her new litter would get the same luxury of her last of having a respected senior warrior for a father. To the best of her knowledge, only Mintnose knows the truth. Despite her fears, the pair remained close even after he became a warrior. Even Tawnyfire stayed close, but Cedarflame felt only her son would understand her decision. She was still young, just because Adderstrike was older it wasn't fair that she didn't get to know the joy of motherhood again. It wasn't her intention to cheat, but as long as Mintnose kept quiet and no one else seemed to know, then everything would be fine. The family could continue on as usual.
Except that wasn't quite true. One morning, a heavily pregnant Cedarflame is woken with news that Adderstrike had gone to StarClan in his sleep. The queen is genuinely shocked. She realized that, even though their partnership was more one of convenience at this point, she had loved him in a way. Though he was much older she had never considered a time when he wouldn't be with her. Once the initial shock passed, she went to sit vigil with the rest of the Clan. She cried and sobbed about how her unborn kits would never know their father. Now that Adderstrike was dead it was sure that her secret would never come to light so she figured she may as well play up the drama. She did sulk for weeks after her mate's death for various reasons. She missed him. She missed the privileges that came with being his mate. She was enjoying the attention she was getting for being a grieving widow.
Two of her kits, Tawny and Mint, doted on her during the time and it was with no shortage of irritation on Cedarflame's part that Foxshade visited less and less. Cedarflame would regularly send the other two to try and fetch their sister for "family time" with mixed success. Soon, another litter of three was born to Cedarflame. At a time when she wanted her family together, Foxshade stayed distant. The two had never been exactly close, but she still didn't understand. But with her paws full of newborn kits, she didn't have too much time to worry about it. At least Tawnyfire and Mintnose were still attentive.
After her new litter was apprenticed came a particularly hard leaf bare. To Cedarflame's heartbreak, she lost her daughter Briarpaw to sickness. But the same sickness also took the last life of the leader which brought Foxshade to the position of Thievingstar's new deputy. Her daughter was deputy. Despite Fox's attempts to keep her mother at a distance, Cedarflame was fiercely proud. Though they still don't speak much beyond Clan niceties, Cedarflame continues to try and get close to Foxshade or at least to ride the deputy's coat tails as mother of the deputy.
