THE WEATHER
[PTabbedContent][PTab=Rules]
WEATHER RULES
1. Weakly weather forecasts are available in the welcome table above the thread. You do not have to follow the weather report. It is merely there to help generate setting ideas. We only ask the weather in your thread matches the season (unless backdated).
2. Minor weather events do not need staff approval. These can include weather phenomena such as rain and thunder storms, small snow storms, wind storms, sunny weather, cloudy weather, fog, etc.
3. Within these minor weather events, members can take creative liberties with how the weather will affect the course of their thread. Damage can occur to the environment or the member's character.
a. For example, if during a thunder storm a member would like for a branch to fall from a tree while their character is out in the forest, they are free to do so.4. Major weather events only happen when staff announce their presence and lead them. These include massive floods, extreme blizzards, tornadoes, earthquakes, or any other weather phenomena that would drastically affect an entire clan/tribe and/or the entire island.

NEW-LEAF
Temperature: 30°—60°
Weather: Snow remains on the ground until mid-April and sometimes even early May. It's possible to see a snowstorm in May. Typically, temperatures start to rise in late March, and snow begins to melt. It is a slow melt due to the lake effect. Thunderstorms are likely the closer it gets to green-leaf, as are minor flooding events.
Prey: Moderate
Hunting modifier: 0

GREEN-LEAF
Temperature: 60°—85°
Weather: The Apostles enjoys warm, sunny green-leafs, but cool temperatures are not uncommon due to Lake Superior. Fog and sudden squalls and thunderstorm are common.
Prey: Abundant
Hunting modifier: +1
Stillborn rate: 20%

[PTab=Leaf-fall]
LEAF-FALL
Temperature: 30°—60°
Weather: Leaf-fall sees cool mornings and evenings. Expect hard frosts on the ground in the morning and leaves start to fall in September. Peak fall colors usually arrive the second week of October, with snow coming hard and early thanks to the effects of Lake Superior.
Prey: Moderate to scarce
Hunting modifier: -1
Stillborn rate: 20%

[PTab=Leaf-bare]
LEAF-BARE
Temperature: -20°—30°
Weather: The islands receive large amounts of beautiful snow during leaf-fare. January is the coldest month, and the thermometer can drop into the -30's. Lake effect snow tends to be light and fluffy. Heavy, wet snow is very common. Lake superior does not freeze over due to its size. However, its edges ice over, providing fish holes for the cats, and the caves freeze, forming "ice caves." Blizzards can occur.
Prey: Scarce
Hunting modifier: -3
Stillborn rate: 20%
