GULLYSTORM
REDWOODCLAN
Long-furred, blue mackerel tabby with yellow eyes
Warrior
tom
26 moons
Appearance
Stature-
Gullystorm's size is not particularly notable amongst the ranks of RedwoodClan, though he comfortably stands at their average height, if somewhat taller. Compared to cats from other clans, however, he's a hulking beast. Most notable in his build are the well-built muscles underneath his long coat, adding to his considerable size. Battling since youth and building his strength ever since, Gullystorm boasts a muscular build designed for combat and climbing, with strong legs and a sturdy body. Gullystorm isn't a particularly agile cat considering his build, though the tom gets by on strength and balance first and foremost.
Pelt -
Gullystorm proudly bears long fur, similarly to his mother, with the same downy texture present in his family. Gullystorm's fur often tangles and tends to carry debris due to his irregular grooming patterns, the fur being a trifle to clean. Gullystorm's pelt is a muted blue, tabby markings evident on his face. The mackerel stripes along his sides are often hidden by the overlapping of his fur, though become evident through proper grooming. Much like his base fur, however, his tabby stripes are a semi-muted colour, gradually becoming darker along his back and tail. Though he sports no white, his chest, muzzle and underbelly are lighter in colour.
Face -
Gullystorm boasts the average wedge-shaped face, with defined features, though his face is slightly boxier than average. Gullystorm's ears are average in size and shape. Gullystorm's muzzle is notably broad and somewhat shorter than average, the tom's eyes a bright yellow and almond-shaped. Gullystorm's nose is rosy in colour, and his face sports a small range of scars accompanied by fur that has grown back poorly (resulting in pockmarks).

Personality
Traits-
Positive:
|| Passionate | Aspiring | Courageous | Protective | Loyal ||
Gullystorm is a passionate cat through and through, and has been that way since the early stages of his youth. He is steadfast and proud in his beliefs, and works hard to ensure that his goals are met. Nothing can offset him from his course of action, as a result. Gullystorm openly aspires to be a powerful force for his clan, knowing exactly what he wants to achieve. He aims to not be a pushover, as he calls it, showing disdain for the 'softer' viewpoints within his clan. Gullystorm is a courageous cat who'll face any threat that falls upon their brethren, steadfast through fear and injury to hold his ground against any threat and to step up when needed. Gullystorm would rather be caught dead than not defending and providing for his clan, and thus builds his life around protecting those close to him. Though quick to arguments and fights, there's no doubt that Gullystorm is almost paternally protective of those within his clan, one to self-sacrifice for others' safety and to pick fights with those who put his clanmates at risk. Decisive in his actions and words, Gullystorm is undyingly loyal to his Clan and family. Regardless of the bonds he may or may or not share amongst them all, he sees every cat within their Clan as family, and his responsibility.
Negative:
|| Volatile | One-sided | Strong-willed | Impulsive | Insecure ||
With Gullystorm's passion, however, comes a short fuse. It doesn't take much to make the tom angry, or even spur him into a physical fight. It can be hard to gauge what exactly will set Gullystorm off, leading to many cats being somewhat cautious around him. Strongly sided with his clan in every situation, Gullystorm is very heavily biased towards his clan to the point of nationalism. He refuses to see any other sides against his cause as viable, even going so far as to direct his anger against innocents in his fight against LichenClan. Gullystorm, as many can account for, is very strong-willed. His stubborn nature makes it practically impossible to talk him out of dangerous or harmful ideas and acts, and he often learns the consequences of his actions far too late. Gullystorm is undoubtedly impulsive, quick to act in the moment and reactive to anything that sets him off. Despite his seeming confidence, in all, Gullystorm is insecure deep down. Named after his noble uncle, Gullystorm feels the pressure of his lineage and responsibilities on his back, making him rather jealous of those in good standing, and especially those that have favour within his family. He fears loss above all else, and fights tenaciously to make sure he won't have to experience it again.
Beliefs-
As with many other RedwoodClan cats, Gullystorm holds a stalwart belief in StarClan, and particularly the warrior code shared by them. As such, he holds a brewing hatred against the Clan they'd warred with for many moons prior, not only for taking away his clanmates but the right to the mooncave. Whenever possible, Gullystorm will follow the warrior code and chastise those who break it, though tends to interpret the code rather loosely whenever making a decision to protect his clanmates. Though he operates within the code, he believes that StarClan allows the breaching of the code when absolutely necessary, often leading to his range of poor decisions and needless skirmishes.
Goals-
Being born at the coming end of Heatherstar's reign and Finchstar's oncoming time as leadership, within a war constantly battering at their clan, Gullystorm has grown to despise the weaker nature of their leaders. He advocates for offence over defence, even enacting his own battles on the LichenClan border. Gullystorm believes that RedwoodClan will never find peace until LichenClan is utterly removed from the island altogether, and thus works to push them towards battle.

History
Kit-
"Home is people. Not a place. If you go back there after the people are gone, then all you can see is what is not there any more."
In an already raging war, Gullykit, Hollowkit and Mottlekit were born to a queen named Drizzlepelt. Gullykit could have been considered one of the luckiest of the bunch; named after Gulchstone, the molly's brave brother... and the kits' departed uncle. They were conceived far earlier than would have been optimal for the couple, their mother still concerned for their safety as the ceaseless battles continued, taking the life of close family in the process.
The battles that weighed heavily on their Clan were not the only worries when it came to raising kits, however. In leafbare, a famine fell upon the Clan. As food began to dwindle, so did their mother's milk. Despite the efforts of each of the queens, in a bid to protect each other, bundles of kits were lost to the famine. Gullykit's littermate, Mottlekit fell victim to sickness and was lost well before her time, weak due to her malnutrition. Their father eventually succumbed to the same illness, and as Drizzlepelt buried the lost members of their family, Gullykit and his brother were left behind.
Gullykit, malnourished and weak, still didn't wholly understand the concept of losing a loved one. He knew that his mother's sudden absence from the nursery had to be important, and as much as he wanted to accompany her, he couldn't. The young kit grappled with his grief and separation alongside Hollowkit, afraid that his mother would never return... Similarly to their sister and father. Even when she'd returned after only a brief absence, Gullykit was more than relieved to see her again, and feared he'd lose her ever since.
Apprentice-
"Older men declare war. But it is youth that must fight and die."
The two brothers, however, were strong. The cruel grip of leafbare was finally released, and with newleaf the famine ceased. Gullypaw and Hollowpaw were in good shape to be apprentices at six moons of age. Gullypaw quickly adapted to his new role, his tasks a form of distraction for the young tom. Day after day, however, he'd always spend extra time with his family. Despite Gullypaw's expanding social circle, he maintained a strong familial bond with Hollowpaw and Drizzlepelt, leading to the slightest amounts of teasing from the apprentices older than him. Already developing a temper early on in life, he often lashed back at those he assumed to be insulting him, even being confrontational with his mentor early on.
As moons passed, the pressure began to increase. Gullypaw was familiarised with his namesake for the course of his youth, knowing of his lineage and their impact on the Clan. He felt obligated to serve in any way he could, not only due to the burden of expectations, but also due to the constantly encroaching fear that every day with his friends and family could very well be the last. Whether it would be famine or war, the young tom feared that he'd lose the very anchors to his home. Those fears hit him squarely when he was only eight moons old.
At eight moons, Gullypaw had experienced his first battle. To a young cat, the battlefield was exhilarating. In a bout of rage, he enacted his vengeance on those once-faceless enemies that had taken far too many to count from them. He felt righteous, powerful... With each little wound he managed to give to the enemy, he could feel the warmth of his clanmates nearby. They would be safe as long as they had him. Of course... At only a young age, Gullypaw was weak. He couldn't hold his own in battle, and was often flanked by those more experienced in a merciful sign of their protection. Gullypaw felt almost invincible... Though the truth, he had to face sooner or later.
From a young age, Gullypaw had seen pawfuls of his peers fall in battle. He was old enough to understand what their burials meant now, old enough to witness the harm LichenClan had caused for them and understand just what these battles meant. Yet he returned to his mother, seemingly not shaken, but agitated. Proud, at times... He often refused to address the deaths on the battlefield in favour for his promise.
"We can take them on, ma. We have to."
For everyone they'd lost.
Warrior-
"The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time."
With the experience of battle already at his disposal, the tom became Gullystorm at thirteen moons, alongside his brother. He truly hadn't grown out of his temper at this stage, and his risky behaviour had only gotten worse. By the time he'd become a warrior, it was glaringly clear that his leader was no fit for the plans he had in mind for a future RedwoodClan. He denounced Finchstar's measures of diplomacy, fully expecting the likes of LichenClan to never accept their peace. It was just as he'd expected, of course.
Confident now that he'd been right, as always, Gullystorm took on his warrior duties with vigour. He'd often go above and beyond, and at times that 'beyond' was often too far. Whenever given the opportunity to patrol the LichenClan border, if eyes would ever fall upon their kind, he would leap into a skirmish without preparation. These poor ideas became a habit of his, and despite his mother's worries, he only stepped it up as time continued. Gullystorm felt as though these acts were required to protect her, after all. Call it retribution or deterrence... Gullystorm was adamant to lead whatever battles he could feasibly manage against LichenClan, in a mix of fury and desperation.
He'd never left a battle fully unscathed, however. His clanmates often returned wounded when they joined him for patrols, the tom bearing scars of his own from a young age due to his reckless behaviour. Even as Drizzlepelt continued to fuss over him, to fear for his safety, he remained the one to pick fights that were often unnecessary. To this day, Gullystorm still assures his family that all will be well, yet is still somewhat aware of the risk in the back of his mind.
He'd be ready to die for them if the time came... But he wanted to do all he could to protect them, first.
