Howl of midnight
storm
Tribe of Floating Stones
smoke spotted tom with green eyes
prey-hunter
tom
20 moons
Appearance
Howl is a lanky cat, seemingly made of all legs, big eats, and long tail. He seems built for moving quickly, fitting his placement as a hunter instead of a guard like his more solidly built sister. He has a thin face and eager eyes, his body often seeming full of energy just waiting to be unleashed.
His pelt is a smokey gray-black, darker along his back and paler underneath. Darker bengal spots dot his fur, though often aren't completely visible unless in direct sunlight. His eyes are olive green, pale against his equally muted fur.

Personality
+ friendly, optimistic, confident
/ competitive, talkative, kind of dumb
- forgetful, reckless, stubborn
Howl is a cheerful and friendly cat, rarely caught in any mood other than happy to see his Tribe-mates. He is always eager to talk to friends (or enemies), always ready for something to do or things to see. He certainly encapsulates the wild spirit of the Tribe, always up for any sort of game or adventure. Anything can be a competition or a game. Who can catch the most birds? Who can fall asleep the quickest? Who can dig the most holes? Whether helpless or pointless, Howl lives for just doing anything and is confident that he can do it.
Howl is just as reckless and stubborn as he is friendly. He tends to jump head-first into any sort of scenario, rarely (if ever) thinking things through and is too stubborn to listen when others tell him to slow down and use his brain. He is an all action sort of guy, both with his duties as a hunter as well as his personal relationships. He can be a little oblivious to social cues or dislike from other cats and comes across as just a little dumb. Just a bit. Not helping, he can be quite forgetful, whether it is something told to him 3 moons or 3 minutes ago. Perhaps he really doesn't have a brain to hold it all in.

History
Howl and his sister Echo were the first and only litter of Ember that Burns Brightly and her mate, Starling's Flight. The pair had been friends through their younger moons, close throughout their training, but when Ember graduated as a Prey-Hunter and Starling as a Stone-Guard, they momentarily went their separate ways. Ember settled down with a fellow hunter, having a litter of kits of their own, while Starling simply focused on his duties as a guard.
It was only after Ember and her previous mate broke things off that they began to reconnect. Her kits were grown now, graduated and serving the Tribe on their own, and the pair began to spend more and more time together. After many moons of courtship, the pair declared themselves as mates and merged their dens, and soon after, Ember found herself pregnant with a second litter. Her previous children were all excited to meet their new siblings, especially since they were fond of Starling and generally approved of his relationship with their mother. Soon, during a stormy night that echoed throughout their large den, Howl and Echo were born into a large family of cats eager to meet them.
Named Howl of Midnight Storm and Echo of Distant Thunder after the weather that announced their birth, the pair quickly showed themselves to be living up to their names. Howl, right from the start, was a pawful. He was loud, eager to get into anything he could, and talked his family's ears off from the moment he was able. Echo, on the other hand, was more subdued, quiet and almost solemn for a kit, though she still trailed behind Howl on whatever adventure he devised for them. By the time they were old enough to enter training, all members of the family were quite ready for a break.
As a to-be, Howl quickly found himself gravitating towards the hunters while Echo seemed to be following a different path, attracted to the duties of the guards. Howl didn't have the patience for watching the sky for hawks or carefully ensuring an area was safe from flooding. It was boring. He craved the thrill of the chase, rushing prey into the paws of his waiting Tribemates or working as a team to bring down larger creatures. It was so exciting, and Howl loved it.
At 12 moons old, he was assigned to an older hunter, Light of Morning Sun, who was not impressed with his reckless and overzealous attitude. They bickered much of the time, Howl angry with Light's approach to hunting, which was silence and stalking, while Light had little patience for Howl's eagerness to rush headfirst into situations. He complained frequently to Echo, and only ceased when she politely told him to shut-up and listen to his mentor. "You're too dense to see any method but your own. Listen to what she's telling you, then ignore it if you want. But please, for once, shut your mouth and listen."
Howl was quite offended by this and did not speak to his sister for the entire span of an afternoon and, no, he would never admit how difficult that was. But he supposed she was somewhat right, though he would never admit that either. So that evening he mumbled an apology (which Echo then asked him to repeat with the excuse that she couldn't hear him and he then proceeded to yell said apology at her) and the next day, he listened to Light's instructions without complaint.
She was sure he had a head injury, but it was the most they had accomplished in a moon, so she wasn't going to complain.
The rest of their training went by smoothly, Howl even not completely hating Light by the time he graduated, though he has gone back to bickering with her now that he is an official prey-hunter. It is more light-hearted than their previous arguments, though, as he did take away some value from her teachings and Light relaxed enough to let herself act as impulsively as him at times.
Now, his curiosity is peaked by the warriors from across the water who bring aid to the sick Tribe. What sort of adventures await right beyond their paws?
