Fireflypaw was born a runt, and will always keep that label. She’ll stay small and short, standing below her peers. As she and her denmates become apprentices, this has started to become apparent. While Falconpaw is getting taller, Floodpaw is getting larger, and Fireflypaw is staying pretty much the same. She looks approachable, with soft rounded features. But hidden behind her innocent deminer are sharp claws and well-built muscles.



Fireflypaw’s fur is short, but dense in a way that makes her soft to the touch. She’s a classic blue tabby with twisting swirls of dark grey. Only a little bit of white fur is on her pelt. She’s got four white paws, like socks of varying states of put-on. One diagonal streak of white cuts across her face, starting just above her left eye and reaching her chin.



Her face always seems to have a pleasant smile, even when she’s insulting you. Her ears are short and her muzzle is slightly pushed, giving her a kit-like appearance. Her eyes a bright amber, and captivating to look at.

Fireflypaw is all that and she knows it. She's arrogant and assertive, often putting her feelings above others and always willing to jam in her own opinion. She thinks she can do anything and will risk her skin in the process. Her bluntness often causes problems with other cats, and she's not quick to make friends.

Fireflypaw is smart and easily picks up on small details and facts. She'll breeze through the first few days of her training and start to slack off. Unless Fireflypaw is pushed to her limit, she'll get distracted or not give it her all. She's also brave, always willing to speak up and say her mind even in a huge crowd. No task is ever too daunting for her. She'll dive right into danger.

Fireflykit only had stories of her father to go by. Wavefrost told her many tales as she grew up: about Falconfire fighting in battles to protect their home, the occasional tender moment the two shared, and the parents' hopes for their kits. Expectations heavily weighed down Wavefrost and Falconfire’s first litter. Blessed with holy names, Holypaw and Sacredlight are expected to live up to their namesakes. In comparison, Fireflykit had a good kithood. But something nagged at her. All these stories her mother told her and the constant prayer to StarClan was great and all. But… if StarClan was as great as Wavefrost made them seem, why didn’t they protect Falconfire? Fireflykit tries to ignore the nagging unease she feels, but she can’t escape it forever. As far as she knows, Falconfire died fighting a RedwoodClan warrior. She has no clue it was Sacredlight who dealt the killing blow. Why, did RedwoodClan have to take her dad away and why didn’t StarClan stop them?

One night when the moon is big, Wavefrost takes the kits to meet Lilacmist at the moonpool. Fireflykit had heard whispers of baptism from the other kits. Some seem horrified by it and others awed. She approaches the ceremony with trepidation, but once Falconkit freaks out and the ceremony goes awry, Fireflykit runs off before she can be baptized. She refuses to visit the moonpool ever again.

Moons later, and it’s finally time for her apprenticeship. Fireflypaw thought she was getting a nursery queen as a mentor, but Littlestream is far from it. As an apprentice, Fireflypaw begins her rebellious streak. She takes to hanging out with Anemomepaw and the other female apprentices and is often caught skipping training or daily prayer to hang with her friends. Her doubts in StarClan are just beginning to show. What place does she have in a clan so devoted to the stars?
