Cedarpath
thistleclan
large mink point with white paws and green eyes
warrior
she-cat (she/her)
35 moons
Appearance
In comparison to the rest of ThistleClan, Cedarpath is tall and broad. Her build is that of a fighter, though she defines the musculature to compliment it. Instead, all of her bulk is a result of her bone structure, a trait passed down from her parents. Despite her height, her legs appear to be slightly shorter than would suit her torso. She is square in structure and has the potential to be stout should she gain the opportunity to enjoy a steadier diet.
In coloration, Cedarpath is a deep brown in color. Her fur is long and someone ragged, curling slightly in a way that gives her an ever-messy appearance. She often leaves it untended to because of this, lended her to look rougish and unkempt. The darkest of her furs are about her face and paws, as well as along the length of her tail except for the tip, which ends in a stark white. Occasional white hairs decorate her belly, and the toes of her hindfeet are also pale in coloration.
Her face is round and almost gives something of a broad appearance. Her whiskers are long and numerous but can't seem to agree on which way to curl. Wispy fur flares out to cover the base of her ears. Once rounded with kitten-curiosity, Cedarpath's pale green eyes give a spirited look, fitting easily with the ever-confident tilt of her jaw.

Personality
~ protective & loyal +
To those that earn her trust, Cedarpath is fiercely loyal. She is choosey with individuals who she spends her time with. It is rare to find oneself a cat she connects with beyond the limits of acquaintanceship, but those who she calls friends she is fiercely devoted to. She is protective and would face the world if it meant keeping her companions safe from harm.
- intense & bossy -
Raised in a realm where one had to fight for what they needed, Cedarpath is pushy about meeting her needs and maintaining her position within society. She has a dark perspective of her surroundings, assuming the worst in other's intentions. She is often insensitive to the feelings of others and tends to be judgmental regarding peers, authority and herself. She tries to assert control in her life by controlling others, but generally comes off as bossy rather than an individual with leadership skills due to her harsher disposition and lack of power.
+ straight-forward & practical +
Cedarpath views the world from a pessimistic but logical perspective. When surrounded by chaos, she is good at keeping her feet firmly on the ground and making clear, rational decisions. She prefers to consider all options when choosing a path but does not stall for the sake of overthinking. While her decisions are often made with effectiveness in mind more so than empathy, Cedarpath could not be described as prone to making poor or hasty decisions. She is very responsible and keeps her word. When communicating with others, she rarely avoids what she means, and s blunt and to the point.
- distant & independent ~
Cedarpath struggles to expect anything of anyone beyond herself. She often assumes the worst, and in doing so, pushes more and more emphasis on her own capabilities. Conversation, especially positive banter between peers, comes difficult to her, so she often finds herself not reaching out even when it would be beneficial to her. She flits somewhere between loneliness and extreme introversion, finding that she can't stand being around most people but still craving close relationships.
History
Mother: Birchsong (@ lightningtrail)
Father:Oleander (@ sloth)
Sisters: Meadowshine (@ sloth), Pinesmoke (@ egotistic)
Cedarpath was born to Birchsong and Maplebranch of ThistleClan at the cusp of leaf fall with a single sister, Meadowkit. While their family was oddly composed in structure, Birchsong and Maplebranch not being mates and instead Maplebranch having a mate of his own named Lilypad, Cedarkit found herself contently wedged in a large, comfortable family. It was only when Cedarkit was taken out of ThistleClan territory on her third moon that she became aware of just how odd and dangerous her family was.
Her mother had lied about her father to her and all of ThistleClan. Instead of bearing Maplebranch's kit, her two children were sired by Oleander, a rogue and one of Lily's sons. After tricking Birchsong into bringing Cedarkit beyond the border to meet him, Oleander stole Cedarkit and brought her, kicking and screaming, into the wilds of no borders.
Cedarkit hated living with the rogues. Often, she was cold and hungry, and no one seemed willing to comfort her when she cried. Her father grew despondent in despair that Cedarkit could not understand. Her aunt Poppy bullied her relentlessly, stealing food from her and forcing her to try to fight for her place among the rogues. Her uncle Hawthorne seemed to show her some interest but never was able to give her what she needed - a mother.
Her grandmother was terrifying. Lily was imposing and callous, a creature that utilized Cedarkit as a pawn rather than as a grandchild. Her initial moons among the rogues were full of cold, bitter nights and rumbling tummies.
On the eve of spring, Cedarkit saw her mother for the first time since she had been abducted. Birchsong appeared before the rogues and was nearly killed before Cedarkit by her grandmother. Only with Oleander's insistence did Lily relent, finally permitting Birchsong to stay. It was then that Cedarkit realized that her father was not distant because of some sort of malady or illness, but because he did not love her. Only when Birchsong appeared, one he truly did love, did he spring to action.
She was alone and unlovable, surrounded by those who had betrayed her.
Cedarkit did all she could to spurn her family and the other rogues over the next several moons of her life. Occasionally, one would corner and force her into conversation, but she only spent time with them whenever she was caught unaware. Only her uncle Hawthorne was spared the time of day, and only because he was the first cat willing to teach her how to hunt and fight. As she learned, she grew more and more independent, but still she could not leave Lily's sight in fear of being hunted down.
Eventually, the rogues moved from the shore and into LichenClan to aid them in their war effort. It was during this time that Cedarkit got her first chance to view the world beyond her rogue cage. Under careful observation by her aunt, Poppy, Cedarkit was allowed to visit a gathering. There, she met with her sister for the first time since they were three moons old. Meadowpaw desperately urged Cedarkit to return with her, but Cedarkit refused, knowing that she was being watched and could put Meadowpaw in danger if she tried to leave.
After the gathering, Cedarkit decided that the next chance she was given, she would escape. Battle struck, and Cedarkit took her chance. She ran towards ThistleClan's border but froze before she could reach it in unexpected terror. Before her, she saw her uncle kill her father, blood burbling up from his throat and coating her uncle's muzzle. Her mother dashed forward, throwing herself at her own kin in defense of her dying mate.
Terrified, Cedarkit ran away from them, away from ThistleClan and LichenClan and everything, back to a place she knew well. She found the old Cedar tree where she had been delivered to her father all those moons ago and wept for her father and her mother until the morning sun rose.
All of her resolution to return to ThistleClan had suddenly vanished, replaced by the fear that she would be treated as her mother was in that final battle. So, she remained on the peripheries, hiding away and hunting for herself. The blizzard came, and nearly left her dead. Luckily, she escaped to the underground, finding shelter in the caves beneath the island.
It was the flood that hit next, sweeping her out of the caverns and into the lake. She flailed, desperately trying to return to land. Luckily, she was able to survive by clinging to a log swept down the creek. Injured, weak, and hungry, she finally tried to return to ThistleClan, only to find their camp flooded and her birth clan gone.
It was luck that the adopted brothers she never knew, Fennelfall and Sproutwing, were patrolling the flooded camp and found her weakened and alone. They brought her back to camp where she received a mixed reaction from her clan. Most were astounded that she had returned at all. Some wondered if her motives were true, as she had failed to return even after rumors of Lily's death had reached the clan nearly a full year prior. Others celebrated the return of their lost kit, eager to reintegrate her into the clan especially when new warriors were beneficial during the newfound time of tension.
For a couple moons, she was permitted to stay in the medicine cat den under Meadowpaw's careful watch. When she was healed, she vowed to prove herself to the clan and earn her warrior name, no matter what it took. Under her uncle Firfoot's guidance, Cedarkit trained hard in order to prove herself. She developed hunting and fighting skills that she had never truly been taught, and spent a lot of time helping Meadowpaw gather herbs and protected her from dangers while they were away from camp.
ThistleClan was finally attacked, and Cedarkit did not personally see battle, though she knew that the longer she managed to avoid it, the less her clan would trust her. The clan was driven from the bearstones, and she pushed even harder to train in order to be ready to face RedwoodClan during her clan's counter attack.
She was among the first to volunteer for the fighting, but she was not selected by Stagstar and Firfoot to join the assault. She waited eagerly for the outcome, and yowled victory cries from camp when she heard voices rising in the distance.
Finally, Stagstar saw fit to give her one final test - a duel. The pair met at the stone gully and fought. While Cedarkit hardly stood up against the intensity of Stagstar's blows and the wisdom of his many moons, she was able to prove herself to him. That night, she nursed her wounds bearing a new name - Cedarpath, for the lost kitten who had found the path, against all odds, back home.
Now a fully named warrior, Cedarpath faces the future. She no longer has to prove herself to the leadership, but she fears that if she relaxes or stops working, the clan will realize that her reason for staying is more so in order to stay alive herself and not exclusively because she values ThistleClan above all. Caught between the need for shelter and support, and the want to hide from the world and those who might question her, Cedarpath moves into the green-leaf season with a great burden on her shoulders.
