Icesong
![]() | Icesong had sent Ravenfeather out on a hunting patrol, telling the tom to leave his apprentice for the day. She'd woken Freezingpaw up instead, taking her out for some battle training. With Minnowstar dead Icesong's anxiety eased. But even so, seeing Snowtalon hurt in the medicine den pained her heart, and watching Mallowfrost sulk was not any easier. She'd yet to reconcile with her daughter, the air between them too tense to stand. Her second litter, kits undamaged by her narcissism, were a relief to spend time with. Though, as apprentices, Freezingpaw, Gorsepaw and Coldpaw were no longer safe from the world. Sure, the war was over, but a single border squish could take her kits away from her. She needed to see Freezingpaw, just for a little while. While they were walking through the forest, Icesong spoke up. She'd slowed her pace to walk side by side with the young calico and was quite surprised to see how tall Freezingpaw had gotten. She'll be taller than me one day. "How was training with Ravenfeather been? I hope he's been treating you well." She said. "He's a good tom." What she didn't add was how she hounded Finchstar about picking good mentors for her kits. How she'd checked with the rest of the clan to make sure Ravenfeather was a decent tom with the required skills. "Ah," Icesong said, realizing they'd already reached the training hollow. Redwood trees frosted with white lined an open circle. The ground was packed down with snow from countless other apprentices training. With a tail flick, Icesong gestured to Freezingpaw to stay while she moved a tail length away. "You should know the basics by now, give me a battle stance." Freezingpaw had grown a lot in the past moons, taking after her mother. She was slim, with a build fit for speed and stealth rather than brute strength. Perfect. Icesong knew exactly how to fight like that. doge |
