Rotflower
LichenClan
caliby she-cat with orange eyes and folded ears
warrior
female
42 moons
Appearance
Rotflower is short, very short. She's one of the smallest cats in the clan but stands taller than Littlestream. She doesn't have the sharp features well known to cats of her blood, but walks upon thin legs and holds herself with confidence. You'll never catch her shoulders slacking. Completely lacking muscle, Rotflower's strength lies in her lightweight and quick reflexes.
A thick coat covers up her delicate body. Her fur is short, but very dense, giving her body a rounded look to it. It's very soft to the touch. She's mostly white with a few black and orange tabby spots along her head, back and tail.
Her face is delicately crafted, with a small nose, short muzzle, high cheeks and large, pleading orange eyes. Her face is topped off with a pair of small, folded ears.

Personality
Rotflower is a kind cat. She's sweet and always tries her best to be considerate of others. She'll often go out of her way to do little favours for cats she cares about or leaves them gifts in their dens. Despite being obsessed with her own family and bloodline, Rotflower does her best to treat everyone with kindness.
Rotflower is smart. She learns quickly, easily noticing patterns and understanding the method of battle moves. Rotflower can think quickly and act accordingly
Rotflower is hypervigilant. She can't help herself from always overanalyzing a situation. She reads into what other cats say, often deriving baseless conclusions about their emotional state and feelings. She'll assume the worst from everyone, and become exhausted from trying to interpret every sigh and finding hidden meaning where none exists.
Rotflower is naive. She thinks LichenClan's ways are the best and is rather annoying about it. She'll say little, harmless things without realizing the effect on others. She doesn't understand why others dislike the class system of LichenClan and the expected role of she-cats.

History
Our story starts with Waterkit. It was a grand era for LichenClan, and they thrived under Sagestar's rule. Or at least that's what Caveflower told her daughter. LichenClan was caught in a brutal war with RedwoodClan, and while their kin was out fighting and dying, Waterkit was safe in the nursery. The family liked to call themselves the flowers of LichenClan, dubbing their blood "The flower line", hoping to reach similar renown as the heron line. It is of utmost importance that their kin gain warrior names related to flowers, so much so that past generations often pestered the leader about it. Waterkit was to be the next heir as Caveflower's sole kit and it fell onto her to carry on the tradition. To ensure Waterpaw continued on the family name, Caveflower looked for a suitable mate as soon as she became an apprentice. Nothing was announced until Waterpaw came of age, but Caveflower knew exactly who was worthy of her daughter. She certainly didn't want Waterpaw to get engaged to a tom like Pigeonheart.
But Waterpaw, with her head in the clouds, did not take easily to the ways of a refined cat. She tumbled in the mud with the toms and wrestled with them. She was fascinated by dirt, mud and all things dirty. Another apprentice by the name of Sweetpaw was her close friend. Despite her mother warning her to stay away, Waterpaw refused. When they became warriors, Waterpaw took on the name Waterlily, a worthy title for a flower cat and in honour of her grandfather. Sweetpaw was dubbed Sweetbee, a "good enough" name for a tom of his status. As a warrior, Waterlily was finally told of her engagement, and not understanding what it meant she nodded along and a few days later became mates with Sweetbee. The two had kits, and going along with Waterlily's odd whims, they named their kits after the most underappreciated creations of StarClan.
Rotkit was a victim of her mother's whims, gaining her name in honour of StarClan's beautiful process of returning living creatures to their soils. As a kit, Rotkit and her siblings were often looked at with contempt. Sweetbee hoped to rise in the rankings after becoming mates with Waterlily, but instead, he'd dragged them all down.
When she was a kit, Minnowstar had already taken control of LichenClan, carrying on her family line. By the time she was made an apprentice, the war was still raging. While Minnowstar and her senior warriors planned their next attack, Rotpaw began training under Flashfang. Many of their lessons consisted of proper mannors and learning from the other queens, but one day when they were out hunting Flashfang recognized talent in his newest apprentice. Rotpaw was gifted at stalking. She moved with elegance from moons of training to have grace and poise. On her first solo hunt, Rotpaw returned with a mouse. From that day onwards, Flashfang started teaching her real skills and how to be a proper warrior.
Rotflower got her warrior name the same season a plague befell the island. As the other clans suffered, LichenClan made it through with few losses. But it wouldn't stop from other cats looking at her with unease. Rotflower too, wondering if it was a sign from StarClan. She began praying more, finding guidance from her grandmother. Caveflower taught her how to worship StarClan, and the traditions their family used to have. Rotflower was eager to learn more about her family's history and took up practicing the rituals Waterlily had forgotten about.
As Minnowstar becomes deranged, Rotflower takes notice of it. She starts to question everything, wondering if the heron-line was so holy after all. She wanted to believe her blood made her special, she was a flower. A priceless beauty. But all she could see was rot infesting the clan and the sacred bloodlines. Hers too could soon become infected. Filled with doubts, Rotflower eagerly goes along with her grandmother's decision to find her a husband. Caveflower has yet to make a decision, too startled by the arrival of rogues but as things settle down in the clan it'll be decided soon.
When the final attack arrives, Rotflower defends her home. She battles in camp against the invading forces, not knowing what else to do. Chaos erupts as Minnowstar launches out of her den. Rotflower is too stunned to do anything and watches helplessly as their leader runs away, leaving them all to die. While she's watching, mouth agape, she's dragged back into the warrior's den. Rotflower is relieved to see her mother safely hidden in the den, her father and brother though, are nowhere to be seen. She attempts to leave to rejoin the fight, fearful that her kin could be in trouble, but Caveflower pulls her back.
"We musn't join them, I fear this fight is already over for us."
It is just as she feared, her brother is killed in the fighting. Rotflower runs out to find the rest of her family, who are thankfully unharmed.
Rotflower's engagement is decided. She's set to be married to Driftfeather, and is pleased with the arrangement. The pressure is on for her to have kits and settle down, but her heart aches for what could have been between her and Breamfur, and the tom won't let her forget it.
