Icesong - ART BY FRET
BRY of W&&R, ADOX, and WW
|It was a chilly summer night, and the odd temperature let cats finally rest for once. Under the cool night, her cats were at peace. The chill made cats pull in together closer than they already were from training together. Most hot, humid summer nights led to Icesong wandering the territory. Tonight it wasn’t the heat that kept her awake, it was a rumbling. She had picked at scraps from the fresh kill, but no amount of cool blood and flesh would saitate her stomach. That only left her with one option.|
Like an apprentice sneaking out, Icesong left the camp up to no good. New responsibilities left no time for fun, and Icesong was due to let off some steam. Yet an uneasy tense stomach told her it wouldn’t be so easy. In the past Icesong would find a pretty she-cat or tom to play with, but that felt hollow and empty.
So many cats around her had kits, yet Icesong was without. Growing in age, Icesong had a sinking feeling she’d never have a litter of her own. It was just like StarClan to curse her to be barren, when all she wanted was a family. Screw leadership, screw power. Icesong wanted to be a true queen. But, even if she could have kits, no wasn’t the time. Icesong needed to lead, and she couldn’t do that while dealing while nauseous.
What Icesong wanted most right now, above anything, was a distraction. So, she stalked through the dark Redwood forest. The further she went, the more ominous the land became. Soft footsteps between bushes and twigs became long stretches overtop of fallen trees. Fog tickled the bottom of Icesong’s paws, and the air felt heavy with water. Standing out amongst the death and decay, was a beautiful she-cat that would compare herself to the moon and stars.
If Icesong was the coming night, in all of its calm beauty, the cat she happened upon was a falling sun. Gorseflame was a pale replica of the sun at noon, but if Icesong looked carefully she could see a strong, confident tom.
