Emotional: Sedgeshadow often struggles to contain the tornado of doubts, anxieties, and intrusive thoughts that whirl around in her mind. She's internalized the belief that she's worthless and oftentimes struggles to convince herself otherwise. This oftentimes affects her outward demeanor, appearing slow as she tries to trudge through a myriad of anxieties. These feelings are often overwhelming for her and when she can't find an escape, Sedgeshadow is prone to exploding.
Resourceful: When she isn't letting her anxiety control her, Sedgeshadow can actually be pretty witty and quick-thinking. It's easy for her to catch patterns and spot things that she could use to her advantage. Having spent most of her life watching, the molly is extremely observant and perceptive when she wants to be. Sedgeshadow finds she has a penchant for doing things behind the scenes and can be quite crafty.
Egocentric: Even if Sedgeshadow doubts and hates herself, she still tends to think that she’s right. She’s only had herself most of her life so she has a self-centered way of thinking. While she isn’t outright arrogant, she can’t help but think she’s better than the faith-blinded cats in her clan.

PERSONALITY
Aloof: While Sedgeshadow's name was given to her for her aptitude towards stealth, it also denotes her nature. The molly prefers life in the shadows, far away from judgmental eyes. While she isn't exactly cold, she definitely isn't forthcoming and has long since grown used to her own company. When she does have to interact with others, she's quickly read as timid and awkward. Conversation has never been her strong suit and she's never been known for her confidence. Despite the distance the guarded molly draws between herself and others, Sedgeshadow secretly longs for a connection a clan full of genuine warriors.

History
0 - 6 Moons
Sedgekit is born alongside her sister Sagekit to a healthy young couple. These two are fresh warriors who are equally eager to make their kits into strong warriors someday. Both are traditional and have high expectations for their two daughters.
---
Sedgekit is baptized and she remembers this clearly. The water is cold, suffocating, and unforgiving, and she doesn’t understand how Sagekit could do it without a fuss. Soaking and scared, Sedgekit questions her parents on why StarClan would do this to them. Her mother replies that they must be cleansed of the original sin. Sedgekit presses further but is met with the disappointed hisses of her parents and the scornful gazes of everyone else watching the ceremony. Sedgekit quickly learns to keep everything to herself.
---
Sedgekit spends the rest of her kithood listening and observing. She becomes scared of talking and isolates herself from most of the kits in the nursery. Her mind is the only safe place she has, far away from the scorn of her clan-mates and family. Doubts about StarClan begin to form in mind, but everytime Sedgekit entertains them, she panics.
6 - 12 Moons
Sedgepaw is gifted Bristlefur as a mentor, who is the exact opposite of the kind, nurturing mentor she would daydream about in the nursery. The matted tom is grouchy, loud, and abrasive, and causes Sedgepaw to further retreat into her shell
-
Bristlefur is quick to overwork her. She’s constantly on patrol or constantly training. Sedgepaw does not at all excel in her training and starts to hate herself. How can she not hate herself when she sucks at training and doubts StarClan. She knows she’s going to The Dark Forest someday.
In her depression, Sedgepaw strives to escape camp as much as she can to moderate success.
---
Sedgepaw goes to her first gathering around her tenth moon. Despite instruction to stay away from the other clans, she converses with a few ThistleClan and RedwoodClan apprentices in the shadows. She especially remembers the spotted RedwoodClan tom by the name of Newtpaw. From these cats, she learns that it’s only LichenClan that is as fervent as they are about StarClan, and is even more shocked to learn that ThistleClan doesn’t revere them at all. These cats are so nice to her, but they don’t obsess over StarClan.
---
Sedgepaw leaves the gathering with a new outlook on life, and can’t help but wonder what life would be like in the other clans where they don’t get punished for freethinking.
---
Knowing that there’s more to life than suffering in StarClan boosts the molly’s confidence and she finds herself taking her training more seriously(if only to sneak out of camp better).
---
Learning that Sedgepaw is a natural at stealth, Bristlefur leaves her training to a warrior more gifted in that practice. Sedgepaw is happy to have one thing that she’s good at.
---
Sedgepaw rushes to her sister when she returns to camp bloodied from a skirmish. Sedgepaw is horrified by the pride Sagepaw seems to feel about harming an innocent cat. It’s then that Sedgepaw realizes her purpose, and it’s to put a stop to all the unnecessary violence.
---
Sedgepaw and Sagepaw finish their apprenticeship and they head to The Mooncave to earn their names. Sedgepaw's confession is a lie that she mutters under her breath, but as she stares into the water she confesses her own sins to herself. She regrets ignoring all the atrocities her clan has caused and vows to help others whenever she can. Even if she doesn’t show it, Sedgepaw is immensely proud of her new name: Sedgeshadow.
12 - 25 Moons
Despite her newfound purpose, Sedgeshadow still struggles with anxiety and keeping a lid on her turbulent mind. She tries her best to avoid participating in the war, but as more casualties occur, this becomes harder to manage. The new warrior does what she can to enjoy the freedom she now has.
25 - 30 Moons
Sedgeshadow is caught screaming by the shore, hollering about how much she hates herself and StarClan. Luckily, it’s by a like minded cat and not a monster like her former mentor. The paranoid Sedgeshadow doesn’t trust Lavendermist at first, but quickly learns that she’s not alone in disping the violence that surrounds them, and she’s not the only one who doubts Minnowstar and StarClan. Lavendermist urges Sedgeshadow to reach out if she really wants change, and after days of wrestling with anxiety over the thought of embarrassing herself, Sedgeshadow finally makes a friend.
--
Sedgeshadow freezes up during a LichenClan attack. She has no clue why she’s chosen to help invade RedwoodClan territory and fears for her life. Bristlefur punishes her instantly, chasing her down with claws to teach her a lesson that Sedgeshadow will never forget. She’s never meant to feel a moment of peace.
-
Anxiety plagues Sedgeshadow after the attack, but only grows worse after being invited to a meeting that Leaf-fall. Finally taking Lavendermist’s advice, the fretful molly tries not to be a stranger. This meeting isn’t at all what she thought it was however. She had wanted to simply see LichenClan cats gathered in support of each other, she had just wanted a place to feel safe. But nowhere was safe, and these cats, though like-minded, weren’t like her at all. They weren’t cowards. They wanted to fight. They wanted to form a rebellion. But after hearing about Minnowstar’s murderous tendencies, as well as Quickstrike, Lavendermist, and Sparrowheart’s plan to sacrifice themselves, Sedgeshadow flees for her life. Again, the molly feels alone. She definitely doesn’t have a place among normal LichenClanner’s but she’s far too ashamed to call herself a friend of any of the brave cats she abandoned. [
-
Grown mad from the loss with RedwoodClan, Minnowstar forces all her warriors to confess before The Moonpool for her to judge. Sedgeshadow approaches the pool eventually, but breaks down in the water, confessing that she doesn’t know how to be faithful to StarClan. Unable to handle the eyes on her, the poor warrior flees, and learns later that she is never to return. Her confession, as well as her treachery during the previous battle was enough to get her exiled, and in the moment, Sedgeshadow is far too mortified to realize the mercy that she had been shown.
Patchstrike, another exiled warrior leads her out of LichenClan territory. And when provided the option between joining the rebellion in the tunnels, and RedwoodClan, Sedgeshadow chooses the latter, knowing how cowardly she is.
30 - 45 Moons
Life as a RedwoodClan refugee is miles better than being a free warrior in LichenClan. Her denmates are driven mad by being held in the same den for moons and being guarded when they are outside of camp, but Sedgeshadow thrives beneath the RedwoodClan canopy. Never has she ever encountered cats so genuine and true. And even if she does face scrutiny for her past time to time, Sedgeshadow has met more kind souls than bad.
–
Sedgeshadow does what she can to help Finchstar and Icesong plan for their next ambush. Sedgeshadow is eager to help ice and finch as they plan for a next battle. She doesnt have any information to offer but she begs the deputy to at least let her help out in other ways. She owes rwc her life. Despite losing the next battle, the refugees are allowed more freedom until they can get back to lc. But sedge wrestles with the horrible reality of being forced back. She doesnt have many friends in rwc but she didnt have anything in lc. Rwc is her home now.
-
Eventually, sedgeshadow is earned an official place in rwc. But sedgeshadow is still scared to unsheathe her claws. With encouragement from Finchstar himself, sedgeshdow realizes shes willing to do anything for her newfound family. She couldnt fight in lc, but here, she’s fighting for whats right. Sedgeshadow dedicates herself to being the best rwc warrior she can be
-
In leaf-fall, sedgeshadow fights for the first time in the final battle. Sorta. Only fur is lost in an interaction between her and a former clanmate. Sedgehsadow and Pebblefoot are able to convince their enemies to retreat. But sedgeshadow doesnt feel good sitting back. She goes to the field again and fights her sister. Its bad bt then woodfrost saves them. Woodfrost fights like no other and sedgeshadow yearns to be as strong and noble as him. And she comes to realize that there will always always be violent monsters in lc who she MUST be willing to fight
-
Sedgeshadow overworks herself after the war, determined to become the best rwc warrior she can be, and to prepare herself incase of lc invasion. She’ll never trst them againn. Starvation and hunger, pain and aches, blizzards and floods, the rwc warrior wont let any of those things stop her from being of service to the clan that saved her.
