ADDERFANG
LICHENCLAN
Shorthaired brown tabby tom with yellow eyes.
Warrior
Male
45 Moons
Appearance
While Adderfang's mother was a lean and lithe feline, he took after his father in the physique category. His father's bulky physique gave him an added advantage in a scrap, and made him a head taller than most of the other standard LichenClanners. However, Addefang did receive the standard LichenClan pelt from his mother. Darkened reddish-brown tones crossed with faded, jagged stripes, and short fur to compliment it. Despite it's length, it feels soft and feathery, like warm moss on stone. Finally, his face is a face only a mother could love. Especially when it LITERALLY is her own face. Same round appearance, same long ears, same hot pink nose. All except for his dark yellow eyes, which he believes are from his father.
Personality
Negative:
Let's start with his big bad traits, because oh boy does he have a lot of issues.
Firstly, it's beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's notoriously DIFFICULT for most cats to be around. He doesn't listen to other cats he deems not an equal or in a position of respect to force his attention. He can be quite rude in his words, dubbed a 'snake-tongue' by his various and varied critics. Adderfang can't sit still to save his life, and will recklessly dive-bomb into a situation and start muddying the waters with his half-baked actions. It takes quite the patient and understanding feline in order to get near him, let alone be his friend.
Secondly, he has a vicious SUPERIORITY COMPLEX. Raised by a molly who valued him over his foster siblings has bred a superiority complex that would engulf the whole of the stars if it was allowed. He was the best, perfect, flawless, incredible, and the Clan should give him what he was owed for being so perfect! He would never outright say it, but his actions speak louder than words.
Finally, flaw that he would never reveal, even to himself: He's allowed his FEAR TO RULE HIM. The fear of being ignored, sidelined, like how he was as he grew up, has left him with the worst case of Athazagoraphobia. His reckless actions, acts of superiority, all of his previous flaws can all be traced to the fact he could never be brave to face the notion of loss like this.
Positive:
But not all is terrible about the warrior. He has some positive traits that keeps him from being completely useless.
Firstly, he's an INVENTIVE tactician. He takes his time to think and ponder upon his enemies weaknesses, moving his thoughts around like a chess board to mentally crush them. He keeps his wits quick and his plans of action even quicker. It is lucky that he mainly uses this for the betterment of LichenClan, sans one particular member.
Secondly, he is STUBBORN. One might think of that as a fault, but in Adderfang's case it fuels his loyalty and principles. He is not so easily turned from his goals, fixating on the overarching story with his steely focus. Even the thought of harm and destruction of his current life can not properly dissuade the tabby. In fact, it can further spur him on.
Finally, he's known to be a rather SERIOUS tom. He's realistic of his own capabilities, even with the flaw of still believing himself better than the common rabble. He sees everyone else as they are, and utilizes them to the best of their abilities than drafting some illusion of pseudo-grandeur. He does not entertain other's fantasies real well.
History
KITHOOD:
Adderkit was born as an only kit, but he never minded not having siblings for his first moon. He was absolutely spoiled by his mother and father, given all their attention and treated like he was sent by StarClan themselves. Already things were looking up for the young tom, until his life was flipped upside down in the worst way possible: Siblings.
Another litter's mother had perished, leading to his mother and father being forced to take them in. Where once was a life of solitude and guaranteed attention was now in shambles. Adderkit loathed and resented his new foster siblings, and almost joyfully antagonized them when he was sure he could get away with it. He made it a point to give other kits better attention and even befriend them, but never towards his 'brothers and sisters'.
APPRENTICESHIP:
The stress of being suddenly thrust into a big brother role, the perceived lack of attention from his parents, and the growing fear of being left behind by his Clan dogged his every step as an apprentice. It didn't help that his mentor was a older warrior on the cusp of becoming an elder. Adderpaw was more often than not left to his own devices, forced to trail after other apprentices and warriors for glimpses and advice on his to do better.
His further resentment of his situation only gave him the belief that he was meant, destined even, to be better than these others. If he could go and become great without a constant mentor, he was meant to have a grand destiny in the stars. Adderpaw began to see others as less than him and his beliefs, souring those friendships he once possessed with his own delusions.
None of that became any better once he became a Warrior.
WARRIORHOOD:
He approached the pool with the medicine cat at hand, confessing his sins that he knew he would do all over again. He kept his difficult personality in check, resuming his more 'personable' mask to everyone except the usual suspects that have earned his ire. Him and his dear foster brother would never get along, coming to blows multiple times through words in civil discourse, and claws during sparring and fighting matches. It wasn't until he gained an apprentice that things...changed slightly.
Batpaw was the complete opposite of Adderfang. Where Adder was one of mind, Bat was one of heart. Where he would strike for vengeance, she would let it flow down the river of life. Where he was an excellent tactician, she threw to see what would stick. It was a rocky start, but they eventually began to understand one another. He turned his heart away from his fear and was on the cusp of re-learning how to live a life of co-existance while watching his apprentice grow strong.
When the battles against RedwoodClan came forth, Batpaw was almost to become a warrior. He ushered her forth against the other Clans, hopeful for their destruction so LichenClan can reign. But during one of the raids, he could not find his apprentice. He made his way back towards the battle in order to scope the place, but only could find tufts of fur from Batpaw. The loss tore down the progress he had made, leaving only a cold shell that watched the world go back without him.
His worst fears realized once his greatest rival became Deputy instead of him.
Only recently has he come back out of his shell, prickly nature on full display and never lowered. It will take time before he's able to try changing his ways again.
