MAPLEPAW
REDWOODCLAN
a lithe calico cat with blue eyes.
APPRENTICE
DEMIGIRL
SIX MOONS
Appearance
Graceful, sleek, and gentle. These are the words used most often to describe the nimble apprentice, an aura of regalness following the feline with each step. Their physique is quite polarizing to many other Redwoodclan cats - their body is small, fur sleek and rather short, and their anatomy is much more limber compared to their counterparts. Where they diverge is where Maplepaw tends to excel, using their supple body for different tactics. What they lack in strength, they make up for in their agility. Of course, this doesn't stop them from struggling when they need to show their strength the most, and Maplepaw can often be found trying to build their strength up when left alone.
Their name, Maple, is derivative of the calico pattern on their coat - a spitting image of their grandmother, warn tones mixing together with darker ones being a key note in their family line. Splotches of color conjugate towards the top of their head down to their shoulder blade, stopping before reappearing on their tail. Their specific pattern reminded their mother of the maple leaves that fell on the ground every year during leaf-fall, something she noted as her litter of three was born during the late days of leaf-fall. Their eyes are big and blue, their nose and the insides of their ear being a pale shade of pink.

Personality
Maplepaw is often described as quite intellectual for their age, more mature and quiet compared to other apprentices. This isn't by any means because they grew up before the other cats but rather because of their introverted tendencies, often having trouble making friends with the cats around them. What had once been their biggest insecurity is something they've turned into a positive, now preferring to stay towards themself and finding the beauty in the world around them. They're more likely to stop and smell the flowers than to run until on empty, serenity being their biggest desire at life. They take the motion that less is more when it comes to their words, preferring to listen rather than bud into conversations.
However, anyone who misinterprets their personality for a more docile, timid feline will often be surely mistaken. Maplepaw is undeniably quick with their tongue and headstrong, their worth being preached to them as a young child. They're guarded and hard to get to, often unable to truly let anyone in despite trying. They can be feisty when pushed and can occasionally come across as incredibly offputting thanks to their somewhat awkward delivery of words. This is something they're working on, hoping to finally become articulate enough to become one of the great warriors they've heard about in stories throughout their youth.

History
Maplepaw was born a child of war. An internal war at that, both of her parents anything but the other's soulmate. The two felines were supposed to be timeless - the love they once had that reverberated around the Redwoodclan camp now lost, bitterness between the two that stayed together out of a fear of being alone. They weren't made for each other, far from it at this point, but their own inability to admit it as well as the sudden news of a litter between the two of them being on the way kept them from splitting. The two carried on, hoping that maybe, just maybe, this would solve their problems.
However, the litter of three kits that her parents had bared were anything but a solution to a loveless relationship but rather pushed it into more decay. They spent most of their kithood in the nursery, listening to their mother complain about their father to other cats and watching the two bicker while the three kits stayed inside. Naturally, a rift formed. They stopped seeing their father as much as he stayed away from the nursery, being raised by their mother and mother alone. Soon, their parents had officially split - the loneliness taking hold of their mother as she soon began to coddle her kids. They were, after all, all she had, and she was determined to make her bond stronger with them.
And Maple was okay with that. They were an awkward kit, often struggling to relate with their peers and even their siblings, and their mother gave them a break between it all. She was a breath of fresh air to the young cat, the most stable thing in their life. They became clingy, coddling up to their mother in hopes of staying there forever. But, as all cats must do, Maple was destined to leave the nest soon - a scary situation only made scarier by their lack of connections to their peers. Their mother often tried pushing them out, even just to their siblings, but all attempts fell flat as Maple stuttered, stammering on words before finally giving up.
Their last night in the nursery was scary, truly. While the other kits were talking about how excited they were to move up, Maple was outside looking to the moon, hoping that Starclan or some other heavenly body could come speak to them. They carried this moment with them to the moment of receiving their apprentice suffix, looking back to their mother for guidance before taking their first step forward into warriorhood. And as they settled down into the apprentice den for the night, they found themselves longing for something more, staying towards the edges of the den as they overtook that same isolation they withheld before, once again.
