CLOUDCATCHER
REDWOODCLAN
Dark brown tabby tom with hazel eyes.
WARRIOR
MALE
38 Moons
Appearance
Cloudcatcher is large, to say the least. Between his muscular physique crafted by his training, to his naturally large size despite being the youngest of his litter. His legs helped him earn his suffix of 'catcher', pouncing and clawing his way to the top of trees to catch even the most stubborn of prey. He got his name 'Cloud' from the murky clouds outside, brewing a devastating storm. At least, that's how Cloud himself theorizes it.
His fur is very short, yet thick enough to withstand a few chilling breezes or two. It's scratchy, pointed texture is a surprise to anyone who would believe him to have, at least, a physical soft side. Dark, thick brown stripes trail around his body, ending in the familiar 'M' shape along his face, coating his lighter brown pelt evenly. The only thing that would mar his body is several scars dancing along his flank and legs, from training accidents and battles.
Cloud's face is rather round, pointed with two murky, circular hazel eyes. He has a very soft voice for a cat as big as he, yet it flutters with a triumphant note in the heat of battle to show how his resolve would never weaken. The tom has a rather smoky, warm scent to him as well, making him easy to find in the cold months among snow and shivering air. Finally, his most notable feature is his bushy, long tail that tends to curl around his paws in moments of irritation.
Personality
+Driven, Inspiring, Strong
-Instigator, Vengeful, Reckless
Let's start with the positives. No cat in the Clans can deny how driven Cloudcatcher is for the sake of both his Clan, and in bettering himself. Every loss is a win in his mind, reflecting on his past mistakes for only a moment before challenging himself to become a better Warrior.
However, this drive to be a better warrior can push him deep, and make him instigate several paths he would not have taken if he took the time to think about consequences. His lack of deep thinking, a stark contrast to his siblings, makes him experience the world in a very black-and-white or trial by fire sort of way.
Despite his lack of abstract intelligence, he gains his strength from his social skills enough to be an inspiring force when times are rough. Being in touch with his emotional side allows him to see the vulnerabilities and the charisma to help them overcome such things for the good of themselves. Think of a personal trainer type personality. He believes fervently he would be a good mentor because of this trait.
But being in touch with those emotions can threaten to drive him into passionate, vengeful furies. He takes emotional loss a lot harder than physical challenges, and when someone manages to get on his bad side it is a harsh climb back to the top of that proverbial mountain. He engages in small slights against his perceived foes, especially against those from LichenClan.
His final, noticeable positive trait is his endurance. He prides himself on being strong enough to weather any storm, and come thick and thin, he would never waver in that strength and loyalty. And he would rather cut off his own tail than flee the scene of a battle if it is not truly lost.
Lastly, he has a very reckless streak in those fights as well. He employs a very "Attack first, Question Later" approach to his enemies, wanting to make them feel just a taste of what he can offer and THEN give them a chance to answer or run with their tails in between their legs. He will never admit it to himself, but some part of him really relishes that violence.
History
Cloudkit was born in an act of love between two warriors, along with his siblings, and compared to them it was easy to see that he was going to be an easy kit to take care of. Instead of the restless inquisitive nature of his sister Shrewkit, he was rather lax and more focused on the present going-ons of the Clan than how those going-ons worked. He worked on his social skills a lot as a kit, playing games and maintaining those good relationships with his family and newfound friends. But his most notable activity was his attempts to be around and learn from the older apprentices. Cloudkit could easily be seen watching them and attempting to practice their battle moves while they were in camp. There were some unfortunate incidents of him playing too rough with the others, and his thoughtless backtalk earned him a longer wait time for his apprenticeship until he grew out of his immaturity.
But the day finally came where he received his apprentice name, and even got a wonderful molly by the name of Icefang as a mentor. He and Icefang got along very well, with Icefang providing support and companionship when he was struggling to get along with his sisters. She mainly focused on their battle moves, with war always on the horizon, and came to neglect his hunting skills as a result. He still maintained his good social skills, and generally had an ordinary apprenticeship beyond a few hardships sprinkled in.
Then came his first trial by fire: Love. An apprentice caught his interest, and in multiple foolish endeavors he attempted to woo them with feats of daring bravery. Jumping off tall rocks and scaling the most perilous branches didn't sway them, so he tried harder by catching the most dangerous prey, or even attempting to make it to the edge of LichenClan territory without his mentor noticing. But when one feat went too far, and the apprentice almost drowned, he realized that this apprentice would never see him the way he saw them. A few moons of recovery and the tom swore off addle-minded love. If the right cat were to be in his life, then they'll come eventually.
He was the last of his litter to receive his Warrior name, and he approached Warrior life with the same friendly-reckless abandon he approached every other aspect. Hunting, patrolling, and the few occasional fights became the new routine, but he always looks beyond and has an optimistic hope for the future. His current goals are trying to gain an apprentice of his own, or try again at love and loss. Life opportunities are endless for this little tom.
