Russetstrike | 100+ moons. Well-on now in moons and no stranger to the long-standing feud between LichenClan and RedwoodClan, here is a warrior who is no stranger to hardship or battle. He is a firm believer in the code and traditional RedwoodClan views, himself maintaining his own personal beliefs that a tom must profess strength and honor and a she-cat’s duty is to bear kits and raise the next generation. He has not drifted from these beliefs and lived peacefully while maintaining them with his now-dead mate Parsleyroot, a she-cat taken on the battlefield. This tom’s personality is very conservative; try to preserve dated views and a strong belief in gender roles as they apply traditionally (this can change ICly). He favors all male heirs within the family but turns his nose up at Firepelt despite her best efforts. Their relationship is strained, yet he seems to be in no great rush to make amends. Appearance should be a longhaired red mackerel tabby. White spotting beneath or at 50%. Otherwise, he is open to interpretation. Coppernose | 60+ moons. Borne amid a time rife with war, Coppernose was hardened by necessity rather than choice. Although, as a father, he was not opposed to offering some forms of tenderness and compassion, many will recall him as being stern and heavy-handed. He believes strongly in strengthening RedwoodClan’s war effort, but another side of him laments the comrades lost to the fighting. In the futurem how Coppernose approaches this is up to the adopter, but a pacifist route is favored once the worst of the fighting ceases. His relationship with Firepelt is strained. He did not shower her with as much attention as his sons, it is true, and while he offered them ample time and reared them in his image, he was ill-at-ease in the presence of a she-cat with whom he could not relate. Though he loves her as only a father can love one of his own, they do not often talk, if at all. His relationship with Lilyspring is both genuine and artificial. The two came together by the demands of Russetstrike who valued his contributions during the war. Coppernose loves Lilyspring, but is notably more bound by his warrior duties than showing such feelings to her firsthand. Appearance ranges. Coppernose is intended to be a black tabby, but he may also be of a red variant if the adopter so chooses. White spotting is up to the adopter. Lilyspring | 50+ moons. Firepelt’s mother and the daughter of Russetstrike, Lilyspring is nothing spectacular. A well-to-do mother and a compassionate shoulder on which to lean and garner advice for her kits, while she has no merits on the battlefield, she has solidified herself as a queen worthy of respect. When LichenClan invaded RedwoodClan camp, it was Lilyspring who joined the fighting in defense of the queens and the kits within the nursery. She is a subpar warrior but is not unsettled by her mediocrity. Her family is her utmost priority as well as the well-being of the younger generation – she very much in tune with social issues that may plague the Clan. How she addresses the recent tensions and rise to arms is up to the adopter. Her views on the tribe and the other clans are also open to interpretation; however she is very much one for closed borders. She does not bear fond opinions of those beyond RedwoodClan’s boundary line but tolerates them. Her relationship with Coppernose, though set upon her by her father, is one she respects. Lilyspring cares for Coppernose, though often wonders how different things would be for herself and her litter had she chosen someone she truly loved. Though she loves him in her own way, her heart has strayed on more than one occasion. Still she finds herself returning to him, loyal to him who aided her in bearing her kits. Appearance should be a red mackerel tabby like her father. White spotting at or below 50%. Otherwise, she is open to interpretation. Cinderleap | 30+ moons. Russetstrike’s ‘magnum opus’ so to speak, Cinderleap most strongly reflects his grandfather’s values. He is the largest of the litter, the most physically gifted, and possesses a natural fighting instinct that did not slip past his grandfather. If ever there were one doted on by Russetstrike, it was him. He believes strongly in Russetstrike’s conservative thinking, upholds such views himself, and has similar opinions of the war effort. He is not well in tune with his emotions, has a brazen personality, and is like to assert himself over others (especially she-cat’s) as he sees fit. He has a very set idea on how a tom should behave and rarely steps outside of those traditional views; as such, he does not take time for things such as compassion- in his eyes, those are traits better left to the opposite sex. His relationship with his father is strained. Although Coppernose respects Russetstrike, he finds himself unnerved to see his father-in-law’s values reflected so strongly in one of his own. The two have a respectful relationship, but Cinderleap has always valued the validation of his grandfather over his father. He does not share a close relationship with Lilyspring; it is not often if at all he visits and he cannot recall having spoken to her in any great depth since his apprentice ceremony. He intends to keep it that way, himself asserting he has no business with a queen such as her. He has an equally strained and contemptuous relationship with his sister. Of all his brother’s it is he who resented and plagued her most of all. Please submit a form listing your interpretations of this character below if you intend to adopt this character. If in doubt, DM me. |
Cardinalwing | 30+ moons. Although skilled enough, Cardinalwing does not shine in physical pursuits but is instead revered for his social prowess. Truly one with a way with words, Cardinalwing views himself as the assigned diplomat of the family. Few he can’t sway with his tongue alone, and he has taken it upon himself to strengthen his aptitude for such matters over time. Many a broken heart trails this tom, for he is nothing if not stunning to look at and takes great care of his appearances. Compared to his brothers, he is leaner, frailer of frame, and more fond of his mother in terms of inherited appearances. He has more feminine habits and traits of which Russetstrike resents. He is close with his father but turns his nose up at the dated thinking that plagues his grandfather. Though the two respect each other by means of their contributions, they are not oft in the others company if it can be helped. His relationship with his brothers is tight-knit, and he is not opposed to setting time aside to share words over prey with either. He is neutral towards Firepelt. He pities her, but cannot find it in himself to pity her enough to be openly sympathetic. The two have a strained relationship; Firepelt resents him for his flippant nature, he for her ‘barbarous’ nature. Sapstrike | 30+ moons. The smallest of his brother’s Sapstrike was hardpressed in standing out in a litter of boisterous toms. He favors himself the favorite; however, himself bearing strong family values and his mother’s compassion. He is a skilled fighter, earning himself his warrior name in a battle skirmish that spoke only more strongly of his capabilities. Despite his abilities as a fighter, Sapstrike values himself as one who leans more towards the sentimental. He wishes to have a family of his own, but is reluctant to do so until the worst of the fighting has ended, himself still remembering a time when LichenClan was so bold as to assault their own camp. As a result, he strongly believes in strengthening RedwoodClan’s war effort and contributes as best he can. His relationship with his father and mother is close. He values both parental figures equally, though he has always favored his mother. His relationship with Russetstrike is respectful. The two do not see eye-to-eye on many things, particularly his grandfather’s assumptions on the duties of the opposite sex, but he values his contributions and fighting during the worst of the conflict. His relationship with Firepelt is neutral. He was one of the few to offer his company when she was excluded from their father’s attention, even going so far as to teach her some of the battle moves he learned in passing. Though their relationship has grown strained since the loss of her litter, he still cares for his sister. Jaggedclaw | 30-40+ moons. Your titular RedwoodClan tom, Jaggedclaw is Firepelt’s past lover. Born into a family of average merits, Jaggedclaw made a name for himself in the war effort, applying his natural cunning and battle sense to the frontlines of the fighting. He earned his warrior name and subsequent reputation through a skirmish endured by a patrol in which the assault of LichenClan patrol was briskly averted. Further applying himself through his duties, it was then no wonder Firepelt’s own ambitions enamored him. She was, initially, all he could have ever wanted in a mate, and he found himself enraptured with her very presence. The two courted one another at a young age, the result being a litter neither were ready to manage. Initially unnerved by the repercussions of his own actions, Jaggedclaw approached parenthood tentatively and with caution but asserted himself in their lives to the best of his ability. However, the two’s relationship grew steadily more strained with time. Firepelt, whose fiery nature once attracted him, now repelled him. The lash of her tongue grew ever more scornful, ever more resentful of his presence. Still, he endured her if not for the kits they bore together. But as the moons passed, even those lives flickered out—taken by sickness and hardship, when there was but one, Jaggedclaw, grief-stricken and unable to shoulder the burden of his own emotions in tandem with Firepelt’s own, relinquished hold of his mate and returned to the life of a bachelor. Though he still spares time to overlook Bouncepaw’s growth, he is wary of Firepelt’s presence and does not endure her company willingly.
