Spring has finally sprung! Better late than never along the 'ole, miss chilly Lake Superior! The islands are finally green and teeming with fresh, flourishing life. Trees are budding and blossoming. Lounging in a stray sunbeam is finally socially acceptable again...yet a cold, dark presence is lingering in the tunnels, remnescent of leaf-bare's cruel clutches...dun dun dun. We have a lighter Announcement month this may! We're continuing our spring cleaning event and announcing a few site updates and patrols, so please check 'em out!
The Apostles is a warrior cats roleplay based in northern Wisconsin. On Lake Superior, the wild cats have made the Apostle Islands their home. It is on these islands - Rocky Island and South Twin Island - that the clan and tribe cats have lived in a peace and harmony that ebbs and flows with the tide.
But as the tides turn, so does the truce that binds them to one another; and as the water raises, a darkness follows, an evil that will end in bloodshed and violence.

How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot
Saltwhisker is a loyalist to Starclan. In his eyes, Lichen clan is the right paw of Starclan and is duty-bound to act in their faith's best interest. It is by loyal followers' paws that they should rid their island of sinners and create a paradise free of sin. To waver from this path is unholy and will result in any worthy Lichen warrior's life being a sacrifice to the dark forest. A waste of fur.
Despite his service to the current Heron bloodline, he is disgusted that the weakling she-cat is in charge and all because of her bloodline. The only positive thing in Saltwhisker's mind was Minnowstar's failure to produce any sort of heirs to her lineage. With her death, the foul bloodline for leadership might actually die out and a more worthy tom will take her place. At least, that's what he hopes while he waits for her end.
Saltwhisker values strength from physical to faith. His standards are high and those that fall will find it challenging to recover back to their position in his eyes. Their past attempts fell short of the newly raised standards. Saltwhisker is not excluded from these same expectations either. Upon failing, he will demonstrate his faith in extreme efforts from standing in the rain and speaking his dedication to Starclan to even walking through bramble multiple times for his failures in battle. When a cat fails, only faith and blood will cleanse these sins.
He has a high distaste for mollies. From his experience with his mother and sister, they are a weak and gentle breed. They should be hidden away in the nursery delivering kits or cleaning the nests with fresh moss. Their delicate nature risks sin clinging to their filthy pelts. His prejudices will often fall second to his faith which is why he doesn't always air his thoughts aloud.
What are your personal plans for the character?
My personal plots for him are pretty simple cause I want the room to alter and change depending on what's tossed at me.
1. I wanted to explore being a Minnowstar loyalist that might not like her in charge but tolerates it because of faith. Saltwhisker will not kill or betray their current leader, but inside he prefers a cat more suited to the role. A worthy tom like himself though he won't breathe it out loud.
2. I wanted a cat that I could use to push more neutral cats into a side or at least make the ability to be neutral harder. In a sense, he'll become either an antagonist or a strong example for loyalists for those with a set path. I also feel he will able to provide challenges for Rebels and Loyalist alike to navigate through, including another point of view on things.
Member name: Jinxy Character name: Shell washed upon deserted shore
How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot
Shell is not only Gale's greatest supporter but she tries to keep everything flowing smoothly. She works hard to keep things in line and is usually positive and upbeat, often keeping spirits high. Despite this she often lead false hope. Her being in the middle of the plot heating up in the tribe I want her to play an almost active part, either pushing false narratives or even grappling with the truth. sumac is pushing an agenda of not trusting fog and I can see her pushing back, creating an almost in clan war/debate on who to trust and who is at fault. Shell whole heartily believes in Fog, because that's what the prophecy said. Being so superstitious she believes him without a shadow of a doubt. Something that challenges her morals or makes her think about things differently!
She's an between the clans and family. Shell is also outspoken, she has no problem saying her opinion out loud and talking to others about it, and with that believes what she's told. i can see her be told something false and spread it around fast! Overall it depends on what happens to the plot, but somehow Shell will try to wiggle her way in and try and sway things.
What are your personal plans for the character?
For Shell to grow, Shell has delt with her trauma and stress in a very unhealthy way and has no idea she's suffering so much. She's bottled everything up and with the tension, drama and stress and grief, she's nearly exploding with anger. She holds lots of resentment, and she believes acting negetivly or showing these feelings will result in something going wrong. So she hides it, she hides her intrusive and even sometimes mean feelings because she's not that person, she's good. She's a good cat and being angry all the time isn't what a good cat is.
My personal plots for her will be slowburn, but mostly about her growing up
1. Defending her family and her brothers no matter how bad they may be or know. Even throwing her friends under the bus so she can support her family. Only to be isolated and really feel the severity of the situation. Shell has been uncomfortable and sad but she has a hard time facing it head on. She needs to grow and understand.
2. Along with above, Shell maturing! Shell likes to cling to her naive and happy world view because seeing things as so bad is too scary for her. Shell growing and able to talk about her emotions, and not pretend to be happy all the time could be some big growth for her!
3. Shell is family based, and is very closed off to the idea of anyone but her tribe. Even when her tribe, who she views as family, is being threatened she wants no part in the clans buisness, and views them as uncivilized and brutal. She's pretty much set on this idea...for now, But I want that to change!
4. Shell's brother Gale is going through a lot, and with this Shell is by his side. Shell sees her brother Gale as her best friend and someone she has to protect and lean on. I want to see where her and her brothers relationship. She doesn't understand what he's hiding and wishes she could help.
Member name: jack Character name: Dandelionfang How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot? Dandelionfang has strong opinions about Finchstar's leadership, or lack thereof. In his eyes, their issues with Lichenclan should have been stomped out with force ages ago. He believes Finchstar's apparent weakness to be the antithesis of what Redwoodclan should stand for. He is supportive of Icesong and sees her as a much more fitting leader than Finchstar. He believes that the only reason she hasn't wholly eclipsed Finchstar is that she is mired down by his softheartedness, unable to reach her true potential and thus bring about the true potential of the clan as a whole.
The older he's gotten, the more staunchly he's adopted his pro-war stance. It was Lichenclan who tempted his father's wandering heart into being a traitor. It was the Tribe who brought sickness to them and, by proxy, stole his mother. As far as Dandelionfang is concerned, both clans are immediate threats to the very lives of the Redwood cats.
In a strange reversal of his push for war, Dandelionfang still finds himself playing mediator between his siblings. Though ignorant of the cause of their falling out—and more than a little annoyed that they simply can't seem to get along—family remains incredibly important to him.
He is desperate still to fill the hole left by his father's betrayal and finds himself idolizing cats who fit, even haphazardly, into the mold. Because of this, he has a tendency towards blind loyalty and is often unwilling to look closer at the actions or motivations of a cat he admires.
What are your personal plans for the character? I want to lean fully into Dandelionfang's warmongering and his negative opinions towards Lichenclan. He'd be coming in at the perfect time to get involved in the plot both through pushing his violent agenda and being directly involved in fights. Even as he ages, his penchant for leaping into the fray head-first will remain, and likely get him into trouble.
He will take an active role in border patrols, training sessions with the younger Redwood warriors, and gathering information for the war effort whenever possible.
I would love for him to have a come-to-Starclan moment about the realities and horrors of war. Whether that's through a paternal connection with a younger warrior who then has something horrible happen to them or directly because of Dandelionfang's own experiences, I would love to be able to eventually navigate a full 180 on his opinions of all-out bloodshed.
Since I'd be adopting him as an older warrior already, I want him to come in and go out with an absolute bang.
Member name: Stormdancer Character name: Woodfrost How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)? Woodfrost is going to be very pro-war. He will bear frustration over the clan's inaction in the past, but be pleased to see that Finchstar and Icesong seem to be becoming more proactive. He will hate Lichenclan, and be a huge advocate for striking hard at them whenever possible. He will also question Finchstar's decisions. I also plan for him to get into some fights on the border with Lichenclan cats, to give the impression of heightened tension. What are your personal plans for the character? Woodfrost is going to be busy! There will be a romance plot between him and Icesong, the results of which are up in the air until the characters are interacting. There will also be a huge plot with Woodfrost and his former apprentice and friend, Pinesmoke, regarding a betrayal of trust. This will result in a huge fight and a mid-life crisis for both characters. He will also have a very good friend in the form of Acorntail, who will be a large foil to his serious nature and take his ego down a few pegs every now and then. It is also possible that he will be a candidate for the future mentor of Gorsekit, though that is only a fun idea right now! I also really want him to be a cat that helps train the younger warriors. Sparring and battle training galore! And at some point I'd love to bring his conflict with Finchstar to a head and see where that goes in terms of resolution.
Member name: rain Character name: newtpaw (renamed to salmonfur) How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)?
opinions on his clan and leadership all are seen through a dense layer of purposeful ignorance. salmonfur has never been, and will never be political, once due to idiocy, now out of lack of passion. but what he has understood over the moons of living in this clan is to follow the rules. although he has no respect for minnowstar, he obeys, almost drowning enough times in the moonpool to know what happens when he acts up around her. he would play no role in the rebellion, but he would not play a valuable part in minnowstar's scheme either, placing him in an uncomfortable middle that will challenge his resolve for the first time. this will especially be pushed by lichenclan traditions as he grows up, i.e arranged mates or confessions, which will be the first time he will find himself out of the divide in onto a concrete side: lichenclan sucks.
What are your personal plans for the character?
in fact, the only thing that will keep him locked into lichenclan will be his family. his mother particularly, finding himself going to her for advice, comfort, and even company. although he will also love his sister, her superior energy she throws around annoys him, and it will be his mother's compassionate and humble attitude that he is drawn to. i want him to also have a good collection of friends, and i also want his relationship with his mother to be tested with different values and perspectives of starclan.
Member name: Wolfie Character name: Pine- (Renamed to Hollyblossom) How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)? This character till play a minor role at first but as she grows and starts to see things in a new light, I see her reaching out to others to try to help them. This includes those in her clan as well as those outside of it. This thought process might end badly for her, but as long as it doesn't cost her her life she wants to atleast try to help. These random acts of kindness might help her grow as a warrior and maybe help her get under her sisters thumb... (do cats have thumbs?)
What are your personal plans for the character? I plan for her to try to have ties with her father, show that she doesn't resent him for not being present until after the death of her mother. It will be awkward going at first but I see her being able to bury the hatchet and overcome some of the unease she feels around him. I also plan on her being more welcoming towards outsiders, wanting to understand their motives and maybe help them realize that there are better ways to do things. This might make her a little naïve but its something shes been wanting to do not long after being made a warrior.
Member name: Cherish Character name: Marigoldleap How will this character integrate into the current clan/tribes' plot (Ie. what are their opinions on current events)? Marigoldleap does not harbor the same hatred for LichenClan that he brothers do; she is loyal to RedwoodClan, but this does not stop her curiosity. She wishes for the war to stop, while wishing for answers at the same time. Although she is disappointed in her clan, she does not desire a new leader. All she wants is for the war to end. Though she is dedicated to the cause, she knows that another part of her wants the war to end so she could learn more about LichenClan, Molefur, and her father. The knowledge of her father and Molefur's relationship fuels her interest in LichenClan. Marigoldpaw does not have any desire to get involved into the politics of the war, but is happy that the tide seems to be somewhat turning towards any type of resolution. She believes that it will last for a while longer, and dreads this. An end to the fighting is what she wants most, being much less pro-war than her brothers.
What are your personal plans for the character? Even as hardships continue, Marigoldleap's quest for answers persists. I think that this would draw her towards the LichenClan refugees without trying to draw too much attention to herself, especially with Woodfrost having called her a traitor in the past. She would try to talk with the refugees for sure, but perhaps she may befriend one of them or eventually even try to sneak into LichenClan territory.
Another option would be for her and her brothers to interact. After Sycamoretail's death, her relationship with Dandelionfang could become more strained, or bring them closer together. Due to the death of both her parents and her estrangement from Woodfrost, she feels quite distant from her family. However, unless something changes, Marigoldleap does not have much interest in interacting with Woodfrost. She is disgusted that he would call her a traitor and insult their father. She could also possibly find a friend to help her, but she would find it difficult to trust someone enough to confide in them. Perhaps a mate, but she is not focused on trying to find more friends or a mate at the moment.
