The Apostles is a warrior cats roleplay based in northern Wisconsin. On Lake Superior, the wild cats have made the Apostle Islands their home. It is on these islands - Rocky Island and South Twin Island - that the clan and tribe cats have lived in a peace and harmony that ebbs and flows with the tide.
But as the tides turn, so does the truce that binds them to one another; and as the water raises, a darkness follows, an evil that will end in bloodshed and violence.
...she's running through the city in a rampage, pressing on her fingers till the bones break...
Between the rippling washouts of clouds drifting slowly across the empyrean, RedwoodClan was left to pick through the chaos of LichenClan’s most recent attack. Unspoken the horrors that happened here as intervals of muffled rain droplets carried with the passing of the morning. However, as always, RedwoodClan would remain steadfast, holding onto their dignity, and most vitally, the virtues of the warrior code.
Freezingkit and her siblings clung close to their beaten and pummeled mama. The tiny kit opened her eyes wearily, not too fond or trusting of others without a thorough sniff. Those who smelled similar to Icesong already earned her confidence, seemingly already knowing affection. With that moon behind them, they were off to nuancing a new chapter to cast over the carnage.
Pale blue eyes flickered to her two sisters and Freezingkit stumbled towards them. “You guys want to play a game?” She chirped with paws fidgeting in excitement, the dilute calico almost setting herself off balance. Oh… But what to play? Wondered the kit with the short tail in the first instances of combat with boredom. “I know! We could play hide n’ seek! What do you think, Gorsekit? Will you take Coldkit and hide?” Freezingkit asked her sister with a wide excitatory gaze for a bit of a hunt.
She passed her gleeful mouth-opening wide grin, revealing her fangs to Coldkit. Mama says Coldkit cannot hear us. But surely they can try to hide from me together, until I eventually find them. They are never prepared and that is what makes it fun! Freezingkit thought of her sister as odd, and it certainly added an extra layer of complexity to their games. Unable to flick her tail impatiently, she switched her stare back to Gorsekit without expression.
Raindrops quietly fell outside of the nursery. They started high up in the sky, somewhere unknown to the little kit. It was mere seconds before they hit the ground, once again disappearing. Cats beyond the nest moved quickly, spending as little time as they dared underneath the falling stones. Beside her, her sister moved. Feeling warm fur brush up against her side as Warm moved, Cold turned to see what she was up to. Fluffy was here too, having approached them without Cold noticing. Her mouth moved quickly, and she fidgeted. Does she want to play?
Leaving the warm side of her sister, Cold got to her paws. There was no moss ball so that wasn't it. Fluffy was fidgeting, so maybe she wanted to wrestle? Cold had seen Fluffy and Warm do that before, the two tumbling across the nursery floor until one was declared the winner. Cold fell into a crouch like she'd seen her littermates do. She wagged her tail, hoping to convey her interest in such a sport.
She looked at her other sister from the corner of her eye, watching to see if she knew what Fluffy was up to. Warm was always good at that. She always could tell what other cats were thinking.
There was a buzzing within her body. One that thrust her heart to life, and made her eyes flutter open. Already, there was an eagerness to start the day, and as her sister’s rose to life beside her, Gorsekit could barely quench the fire that was her burning excitement. Gorsekit had plenty of ideas on how to spend the day, but before the calico kitten could list them, Freezingkit had suggested something even better.
”Hide and seek!” she gasped. Watching how her sister’s blue and white tail waved around with excitement, Gorsekit pounced on it and chirped back in response. ”Yes! Yesyesyesyes!” And as she fell off of Freezingkit, attention drifting towards the smallest sibling, Gorsekit thought not of Coldkit’s hearing, only of how much fun they were gonna have. Already, she imagined Coldkit’s reaction, smiling as she could hear her favorite laugh in her head. And Gorsekit was already laughing, a picture in her head of Freezingkit bumping into everything trying to find their impossible hiding place.
”C’mon, Coldkit! We have to find the best hiding spot!” She explained. Even if she knew Coldkit couldn’t hear her, Gorsekit liked talking to her sister anyways. Jumping and slipping into her sister’s white side, the calico spun on uneven paws and readied herself to run. ”But, wait…” Curious eyes peered past the nursery walls and onto her mother’s white and pink coat. It was only when she recognized the gentle rise and fall of a sleeping cats flank was Gorsekit reassured. They couldn’t go around playing if mama was upset or sad. But she was sleep, which meant it was time to hide.
Gorsekit matched Coldkit’s crouch, a nonverbal signal for her sibling to do as she. Together, they crawled through the nursery entrance, and into the sprawling clearing. Tail stilling, eyes going wide, Gorsekit whimpered upon realizing she had no idea where to hide. EVERYWHERE. There were cats. Leaving dens, entering dens, talking, playing, crossing from one place to another. Over the sea of felines, Gorsekit couldn’t at all make out a nook or cranny. Certainly not one that Freezingkit wouldn’t see.
And then she got an idea!
”Stay close.” Tail draped over her sister’s back as she led her on, a smile stretched from ear to ear upon realizing that her clan-mates could be hiding spots too. Her tail pointing in the direction of a particularly large and fluffy cat crouched in the corner, Gorsekit suddenly broke into a sprint. And it was in a heap of fur that she disappeared into. But what was once burning excitement, was quickly replaced with unease as she hid there. But she pictured Freezingkit struggling again and her smile returned.

...she's running through the city in a rampage, pressing on her fingers till the bones break...
Nodding excitedly, Coldkit seemed to at least somewhat understand it was time to play a different game. “I won’t bite your ear this time. Or maybe I will if I catch you!” Freezingkit squeaked, unable to contain herself from bouncing into her deaf sister. Glancing over, the two of them eagerly awaited the third sister to weigh in on her participation in the game. Her ears flicked as Gorsekit voiced her excitement, and the matter was settled upon.
‘C’mon, Coldkit! We have to find the best hiding spot!’
Her bunny-puffed tail wiggled into the ground, but she couldn’t cheat on their game. Turning away in fear of their mother scolding her, Freezingkit played fairly and looked away. Closing her eyes into narrow slits, she turned her fluffy back to them and began to drown out their voices with the natural business of RedwoodClan’s camp. She wasn’t sure how much time passed, but simply whipped around when she felt they were given ample time. I know! They’re probably hiding where mom is sleeping. Freezingkit smirked, overly, confident that she knew where they chose.
She scampered over to the nest, her chin hitting into the nest as she climbed. “Found yo-” She blinked as her voice cut suddenly, her siblings were not hiding there. They’re not here? Her ears drooped at her intuition being wrong, and hopped down from peering into the nest. Departing now from the nursery, Freezingkit planted her nose to the ground and began sniffing for any hints of a trail to where the two may have gone.
Seeing Warm filled with excitement warmed Cold's, little heart. Channelling the same energy, the kit hopped around, pouncing and tackling Fluffy as Warm had done. When Warm called her away, with a tail flick, Cold got off of her sibling and ran towards her. They bumped sides, and she snuggled into her sister's warm pelt. Despite not being able to speak, the three had developed a way of communicating and with Warm's signal, Cold was quick to follow her.
Beyond the nest, everything was large. Tall dens towered over them and great trees lined the camp. The middle of the camp was so open with cats wandering about. The comforting tail of her sister told her where to go. She followed where Warm was pointing to a large cat lounging in the corner of the camp. Quick to follow after, Cold darted behind the cat, pressing into her sister's side. Sticking close to her, they'd have a better chance of not being found.
Peaking out from behind the fluffy cat, Cold watched the nursery entrance. Between the sea of cats, it was hard to see. But there! Fluffy was leaving the den, her nose on the ground. With a squeak, Fluffy hid back behind the cat, and held her breath.
”Coldkit, look!” Whispered Gorsekit excitedly, throwing a paw into her sister’s fluffy pelt to get her attention. But the young molly was already looking in the same direction as she. Still, she poked her head from the feline's fur and pointed with her muzzle in the direction of their other sister. Freezingkit had gone in the complete opposite direction, meaning that her hiding spot was perfect. ”She’s going the wrong way!” The kit broke into a laughing fit, rolling around in fur as she reveled in their win. However their joy seemed to catch the warrior’s attention.
”You two seem like you’re having fun,” chuckled the fluffy molly. And while Gorsekit was normally eager to enjoy the company of any cat, the kit realized too late that if the warrior said too much Freezingkit would realize exactly where they were. ”Y-yeah… But-”
”Icesong’s kits right? Are you two-”
Gorsekit didn’t hear the rest, everything fading around her as she saw Freezingkit turn around in the nursery. With a frightened ”Eep! Gorsekit leaped from her position and into Coldkit once more. Shoving her forepaws into her side, the kit did what she could to get her sister up and running. ”You go! You go!” She shrieked lowly, more than willing to sacrifice herself if it meant Coldkit found another hiding spot. c a n n a,captain, doge,
