Honey Bell Where
Songbirds Visit
Tribe of Floating Stones
a rosetted tabby with brown eyes
has-been
she-cat (she/her)
114 moons
Appearance
Honey Bell fits the archetypical prey-hunter physique easily. She is small and agile. While in her youth she was muscular and toned, her life as an has-been has let her gain a bit of extra meat on her bones.
Her short pelt is spotted with dark rosettes. She has the typical tabby markings on her face, and fur that transitions from pale cream to deep chocolate. Her face is round and soft, with smaller than average ears. Her muzzle is flatter than average, and her brown eyes are small and hooded.

Personality
Funny & Caring:
Honey Bell is genuinely a sweet old lady. She is a grandma (maybe one day great-grandma) who wants nothing more than to spoil her children's children. She has a good sense of humor and is not afraid to use it. She has a knack for reading a room and determining the best way to bring joy to those around her. She cares deeply about her tribemates and does what she can to make their days a bit brighter than they were before.
Mischievous & Lazy:
Honey's life as a has-been has led her down the path of lounging rather than working. Of course, she has no one to tell her to do otherwise, so she is left to waste away her days. When she does get off her rump she often finds herself getting into mischief. While none of what she does is ever intended to be cruel or problematic, she can often get herself into situations that she cannot get herself out of alone. This can lead her to be scolded as much as any kit or brand new to-be.

It is a cool fall night when Rain that Waters the Lands told Fang of Hissing Viper and Glow of the Moon at Sunrise of two visions. The first is a vision of lighting crackling in a pitch-black sky, and the other is of two songbirds visiting a honey bell flower. As is the tradition of those that live in the Tribe, they name their kits in accordance with the visions of their teller. Thus, the two kits are named; Darkness Broken by Lightning and Honey Bell Where Songbirds Visit.
Darkness and Honey were a mischievous duo. Fang and Glow had to learn the hard way when to be stern. The pair of kits wandered too far from the den on a snowy winter evening, and Fang was only barely able to return them before they froze. After that, the two kits both learned that when their parents told them no, that they must heed their words or else. Honey's first of many lessons.
On Darkness and Honey's 6th moon they were made to-be's. The pair were thrilled. Both of their parents had been prey-hunters before them, but Fang and Glow were only interested in their two children finding the right home. Honey Bell found prey-hunting to be the right calling pretty quickly. While she would occasionally go with her brother to explore the options together, it became clear quickly that their paths were diverging.
Before the pair were able to be made Fledgelings, Darkness suffered a tragic accident. During a horrible storm, he was working to assist the Stone-guards in their duty of helping a young family find shelter after their nest was destroyed. A thick limb of a tree fell and killed Darkness on impact, but not before he could throw the kitten that he had been rescuing to safety. Honey was deeply troubled by the news and spent many moons in reflection and isolation before she was able to fully embrace the communal living of her tribe.
It was fear that drove her away. She refused to allow any cat who she cared about to die due to her failures. It took the kit that her brother saved, now a to-be, to pull her out of her isolation. He made an important point to her, one that would follow her in every action she took.
She was proclaimed a fledgling prey-hunter without her brother by her side. However, she still saw the intense eyes of the to-be he had saved. She felt them, hot on her fur.
The to-be was called Berry that Poisons the Squirrels. He was an intense tom, one that Honey Bell would normally not seek out to befriend. However, she was indebted to him for returning her to the welcoming embrace of her tribemates. So she spent time with the largely ostracized to-be and came to call him a close friend. Once she was named an official prey-hunter, Berry would train with her often. Despite his bulkier size and the stone-guard blood in his veins, he was desperate to become a prey-hunter. Honey was never sure if this was because he felt called to this type of work, or because he was desperately chasing after her.
However, as the tom became a fledgling prey-hunter, she knew that he once again had taught her a valuable lesson.
As Berry and Honey settled into life as fully-fledged prey-hunters, life became simple and kind to the pair. They decided to take each other as mates, as Honey Bell deeply desired kits and Berry loved her with all of his heart. However, there was always something lop-sided about their relationship. Honey cared deeply about Berry, but she never seemed to be able to commit herself fully to the tom. He was able to give her the blessing of motherhood, and for that, she would stand by his side.
It was early on a spring morning when Rain visited Honey for the second time with the intention of delivering visions of names. Rain's words struck a chord with Honey. All of them were so closely linked with the sky, a place that reminded her only of her brother. While his passing was many moons ago, she still felt the pang of sorrow hit her as she heard Rain's words. The teller had seen visions of hail and thunder, of clouds, stretched over the mountains, of a night sky dappled with blue stars, and finally a blood-red moon rising over the pine trees. Honey named her kits accordingly, finding the process comforting as though her brother was watching over her and her new litter.
Hail, Cloud, Red, and Night were beloved treasures, and she valued them above all else. While sometimes this devotion made Berry jealous of the kits, he did his best to be a dutiful mate and father in every way he could. The tom was right by her side at all times, doting on her constantly. However, it became clear to Honey Bell that his love was only for her, and not for their kits. After a particularly bad argument, she accused him of just this. After he could not deny it, she sent him away.
And it was soon revealed to the she-cat that, as her kits grew, they would become the best individuals in her life. As her parents had for her, she encouraged them to choose whichever path might bring them more joy. The siblings ended up split down the middle. Cloud and Red were moved to become stone-guards, while Hail and Night followed in their parent's footsteps and found themselves at home among the prey-hunters. Honey Bell could not have been more pleased with her litter as they grew, and did all she could to become important figures in their lives. She expected that she had tarnished her relationship with Berry permanently, as after their argument they did not speak for many moons.
Despite the fighting, Berry and Honey ended up sharing a den once again as mates. Honey became pregnant with a second litter just as her oldest children were named fledglings, and she could not be happier. It was with great joy that she gave birth to two more kits. However, Fern that Tickles Fox's Nose and Sea of Silver Fish did not last for more than a week, both succumbing to weakness. Their deaths hit Honey particularly hard, as she had also lost her father, Fang, not many days before their death.
She was devastated and mourned their loss with her tribemates. She never looked to Berry for comfort; instead, taking refuge with her children and mother. By this point, Hail had already made his den with a lovely stone guard she-cat, and Honey begged him to allow her and Glow, her mother to stay in his new den. She didn't want to go back to the den where her kittens had died, and also the den where she had made a nest for Berry so many moons ago.
Glow, Honey's mother, died shortly after the last snowfall, falling ill after the loss of her life-long mate. Honey Bell's first instinct was to find a hole to bury herself in, refusing to live in a world where she could lose so many of those important to her in such a short period of time. However, through the strength of her kits, she found a path to walk, and with the promise of grandkits on the way she pulled herself back to where she belonged. She continued her duties as a prey-hunter wholeheartedly, throwing herself into her work. However, she found no satisfaction in it and constantly asked herself what she was missing.
After she retreated fully from Berry, the tom left the tribe altogether. Honey still believes that he managed to make his way across the sandbar, to where the clan-cats lived. She tried not to care too deeply, but her many moons by his side felt like a waste.
The she-cat vowed to spend the rest of her life living fully. She would pursue joy and leave behind her regrets. She was not dead yet, after all, and she had no intention of dying any time soon.
The first leaves were falling when her first litter of grandkids was born. She spent her time coddling Hail's children. It was not long after that Night also gave birth to two kits, Vale of Rabbits and Ferns and Lightning that Grazes the Mountain. It was not uncommon to find Honey Bell leading the herd of kits in search of fun, even when it involved a bit of mischief.
It is deep winter when the sickness arrives. Honey Bell focuses on her loved ones in the chaos, even as Red is taken by its dark clutches.
The sickness becomes worse as the air becomes warmer. Honey Bell morns with her tribemates as Rain passes with it. She also accepts Creek wholeheartedly, believing strongly in Rain's choice of to-be. One of Night's children, Lightning, is also killed by the sickness. Before the illness is fully gone, Honey Bell becomes ill. She recovers, but only barely. She has had a wheeze in her lungs since. It is in the summer when this becomes problematic, as she collapses after chasing a rabbit. Her breath slowly returns to her, but the scare is enough to get all of her children to unite against her on her status as a prey-hunter. She is given the title of has-been so she does not end up in a situation where she might collapse again.
Her grandchildren grow, and she watches eagerly. As a has-been, she finds herself with more time on her hands, which she begins to make use of by pestering her children and grandchildren even more frequently. She also occasionally is seen participating in typical prey-hunting activities, and each time she is caught it takes the words of her kits to convince her to quit.
In the winter, the sickness takes hold of the tribe again. With the other has-beens, Honey Bell suggests that she help the sick. She lives primarily on the island of the sick but never gets the illness bad enough to kill her. Somehow, she refuses to die, even after her final daughter, Night, and her granddaughter, Vale, are taken by the sickness. She does her best to stay vigilant and busy, caring for the sick and dying.
The season of 2020 was a particularly complicated one for the Tribe of Floating Stones, but Honey was now free of her obligation to involve herself in the tribe's drama. She was of course very pleased to receive assistance from the mysterious cats across the sandbar and was terrified with the rest of her clan from the threat of attack that the tribe faced, but she reveled in the lack of responsibility she had to address those problems that were faced.
As the warmth of spring begins, the sickness curtails yet again, and Honey retreats to her life of peace. It is not long before a savage storm tears across the island. Just as quickly as the communication started with the strange cats across the path, it ended, as the sand bar was destroyed.
Despite one of the clan's immense help in providing herbs for the sick, Honey Bell took the "good riddance" approach to the destruction of the sand bar. She seemed to have trouble differentiating between the several clans of the island and instead saw them as a large group that was as unpredictable as a hungry badger.
