YARROWTHORN
THISTLECLAN
a slender light gold she-cat with yellow eyes
warrior
female
36 moons
Appearance
Yarrowthorn considers herself beyond petty vanity, but in truth she is self conscious about her appearance. There is hardly anything to be ashamed about, however, as she is indeed a pretty she-cat. Slender and short-furred, the warrior has a golden glow to her coat. This is not as striking nor outstanding as some coats however. She is a pale gold with soft beige points; specifically on her muzzle, ears, legs and tail. Long legged and a bit tall compared to some female cats, she could say she was awkward if she didn't have the training as an apprentice. Her mentor trained her well enough, and she is able to use both agility and force behind her attacks.
The she-cat has a healthy appearance. Her fur is kept groomed and her weight is nothing to worry about. Yarrowthorn is a casual cat and her stance reflects this. She is not hunched over or proud, a happy medium in between. Though her features will change dramatically where concerned, especially if she is in a mood. She has very expressive yellow eyes that betray her thoughts. They flash in anger, sadness and other emotions easily. She is often furrowing her brow, thinking about things or judging others.

Personality
- CLEVER; a female who has a sharp mind, a quick retort always ready and a sense of humor. Though she sometimes fails to pick up some social cues, Yarrowthorn is always ready to express her opinion. She does not let other cats see her huddled in the corner, afraid to speak her mind. She is at the front and center if she has a strong opinion. Yarrowthorn can be vocal and stubborn; it takes a lot to change her mind.
- DEVOTED; there is no questioning the lengths she would go to help a friend in need. She is very dedicated to the cats she considers special, though it'll take a bit of time to open up to them for true. She places a mask on for all to see, but it isn't as dramatic as one thinks. She holds herself back because she cares too much, and frets over others needlessly. But to the cats that break her shell, Yarrowthorn is a devoted friend and ally to have. She can be suspicious of other Clans, however. She shows open hostility to them, is brisk in speaking and curt.
- SELF-CONSCIOUS; burning behind her fierce exterior is a mess of emotions. Is she pretty enough? Is she good enough? Is she ever going to amount to anything else? She hates when other cats stare at her for long periods of time, and she hates feeling like she has to work extra hard to be noticed. She is awkward and fumbling, both in actions and in words. She sometimes says the wrong thing, does the worst thing or thinks negatively. This stems from the lack of acceptance her father gave her growing up.
- ABRASIVE; even though she is sharp of wit, her words can be hurtful. she sometimes does not think when she speaks, allowing her personal feelings to get the better of her. she lets them leak forth, destroying everything in its path. whether or not she's sorry about it is left in the air, as each experience is different. most of the time she is regretful about the barbed words, hoping she could take them back but knows she cannot. Some like that about her, and some do not. Well, you can't please everyone.

History
- KIT-HOOD; born in ThistleClan, Yarrowkit didn't have much in the ways of family drama. She may be the result of a fling, but she never considered or thought too much about it. At first. As a kit, she was happy and carefree. Easy to play with. Easy to joke with. Her mother, Rosetail, was a good warrior. She wasn't a very good mother. Inheriting her mother's awareness, Yarrowkit was the singular kit in the litter to survive to apprenticeship. Her brother, Finchkit, caught sickness and died. It was a miracle that Yarrowkit did as well. She was ill, too ill to start apprenticeship when the other kits were ready. ThistleClan's leader held her back until she was well enough by advice from the medicine cat.
Yarrowkit hated waiting. She hated feeling useless. She'd practice stances and techniques, having watched the apprentices do their routines in camp, only to be told off by Rosetail. Having nowhere else to go, confined to the medicine cat den, she was mostly alone during this time. Her training started two moons late but finally she was cleared of the sickness. Yarrowkit became Yarrowpaw. There was never a question of her namesake - she may be a 'paw now, but she would always be Yarrow. It was a grim reminder of the medicine cat den and the yucky herbs they used. Rosetail, however, named her that after the pretty yellow flower associated with yarrow.
- APPRENTICESHIP; due to her time spent confined to a den, Yarrowpaw was excited to be allowed outside of camp. She zoomed this way and that, being told to slow down and be patient. Her mentor was a cat named Poppyfur, who soon grew exhausted with her first apprentice. There was always a biting word or an edge to her tone when addressing Yarrowpaw. The apprentice copied it, thinking it would make her mentor proud she was listening. It earned her a few glances from the senior warriors, and being told off once or twice for her behavior. Sharply, Yarrowpaw would say that Poppyfur talked to her like that. It only severed the relationship between both she-cats when Poppyfur was told to tone it down.
There was always a bit of bullying and hard words from the other apprentices too. Yarrowpaw's father was out of the picture, having been named as a warrior of ThistleClan but not actively in his kit's life. He avoided her in camp, thinking her less than dirt. As far as he was concerned, she didn't exist. Rosetail tried to be a good mother but failed, often snapping at her kit or avoiding the subject of her father. All Yarrowpaw wanted was to make her father proud so he'd acknowledge her. She trained hard, thinking something must be wrong with her. This subconscious behavior lingered, feeling she was never good enough for anyone. She made a few friends, but didn't let them close enough to see she was hurting. She'd turn them away in the end, so many apprentices didn't bother the prickly she-cat.
Her training was nothing outstanding either. Poppyfur worked her apprentice hard, and when Yarrowpaw was finished she earned her warrior name. Yarrowthorn, for her sharp and prickly wit. Her dedication strong in ThistleClan, just as prickly as she was. Heavy in sarcasm. Outwardly strong and brave, inside uncomfortable and afraid.
- WARRIORHOOD; Poppyfur was happy to get rid of Yarrowthorn but the gold she-cat could say she respected her abrasive mentor even after they severed ties. It didn't take long for Poppyfur to move to the nursery, and it was a shock to learn that the sire was actually Yarrowthorn's father. Rosetail left the clan shortly after that, and she begged Yarrowthorn to come with her. There was murmurs of "a breech of trust" and "betrayal" by Poppyfur. Many cats thought she had such cheek to have kits with her former apprentice's father. However, Yarrowthorn felt conflicted between her parent and her duty. She chose ThistleClan, bringing back news that Rosetail would never come back.
However, the guilt of abandoning her mother always remained.
She did not see Rosetail again, and tried to hide her loneliness by making new friends. Given an apprentice a few moons after the departure, ThistleClan's leader proclaimed what a loyal cat she was during the ceremony. Yarrowthorn always felt she had nothing to be proud of regarding the situation. She trained her apprentice differently than Poppyfur had with her, and eventually the young cat made it to warrior-hood. The gold she-cat was not given another apprentice for some time, and she could honestly say it was as uneventful as the previous time. Now a mentor twice, Yarrowthorn waits for her chance to do it again. She secretly liked training young cats, helping them and molding them. But she'd never admit it.
She still dislikes the medicine cat den, and will often put off going there if something is wrong with her. Her relationship with any medicine cat will be strained and uneasy, wary of them poking and prodding her. Yarrowthorn is often doing something, leading the clan to believe she is a workaholic. She has boundless energy as a still young cat, and dedicates all her time to the betterment of ThistleClan. Time will tell what the world has in store for her.
