If Graygaze had a lost brother, it was probably Eggpelt. Either of them had an affinity for relaxation and communication - more importantly, they were both strongly averse to violence. The white tom was a happy-go-lucky leaf in the wind. However, despite his warrior status and his amicable nature, Graygaze couldn't ever see himself on the same patrol with Eggpelt. The newly-made warrior was fat, egregiously white, and unimpressive in battle as far as the older of the two could tell. Graygaze could afford to be placid because of his immense skill in the field combined with his natural talent. Despite their similar personalities, the fact remained that Graygaze couldn't trust that Eggpelt would have his back when it mattered most. It was a problem he'd have to bring up with him sooner or later... ugh, why couldn't it be later?
A thick fog crept up the hillside of ThistleClan territory. Their warriors followed suit. One by one the clan cats ducked through bramble openings underneath stark white pines, carrying their kills. As visibility decreased, Graygaze thought he might do this some other day.
No. He didn't want any prying eyes while he had this dialogue. Graygaze wanted to keep this matter private.
A black tail dropped directly in front of Eggpelt before the warrior could return from whatever he was doing outside of camp. Graygaze breathed, and for a moment he wondered if he should say this at all. Smoke nearly poured of his ears as he thought to himself. He looked like a deer on the verge of deciding whether or not to cross a thunderpath.
"Eggpelt," he started, his voice low. "I don't mean to sound like a flea-brain... I mean, we've pretty much never looked each other's way since you became a warrior, anyway. I just-..." Graygaze wasn't at linguistics as his compatriot. "If you were to run into a hostile rogue like the one that injured Mistflower a moon ago, do you think you would win?" he mewed bluntly.
"It's not a trick question. I'm not going to tell anybody else your answer. But if you were to meet a rogue, do you think you could fend them off our territory?" he asked with earnest in his tone. "Without talk," he added.
