Oakthorn
THistleclan
ginger spotted tabby tom with green eyes and a bobtail
warrior
tom
15 moons
Appearance
Oakthorn is a slender tom, lacking the thick fur of his sister or the stout shape of his brother. Strong back legs and long body lend a powerful jump and a hard hit in battle. While not as sturdily built as his brother, Oakthorn's focus lies in fighting, whether in scuffles with Clanmates that he has pushed too far or while defending his Clan from outsiders.
His base coat is a pale ginger, overlayed with dark orange spots that merge into tabby stripes along his back and legs. His eyes are bright green, just as vibrant as the rest of his fur. As with the rest of his family, Oakthorn has a bobtail. While lacking the extra balance from a long tail, Oakthorn's long limbs and agile body help make up for it and he does not let it hinder him.

Personality
+ passionate, hard-working, reliable
/ loud, immature, envious
- arrogant, abrasive, insecure
Oakthorn is a bit of a conflicted cat. When it comes to serving the Clan, he is reliable and trust-worthy, always taking on whatever is asked of him and doing everything to the best of his ability. Like the rest of his family, he is a bit loud, even when completing such tasks like patrolling or hunting, and like his brother, is quick to join in on pranks or other shenanigans. When not overcompensating for his insecurity within the Clan, he is a fun cat to be around, quick to crack a joke and lighten the mood. He's passionate about his work as a warrior, devoted to ThistleClan and his Clanmates, though he can be pretty bad at showing it at times.
Socially, he suffers. Desperate for attention and recognition, Oakthorn acts out, his words harsher than his siblings and his attitude arrogant and entitled. Much of his negative traits stem from envy for his siblings and their success and what he perceives as easier integration into the Clan than himself, as he feels he has always been overshadowed. He's emotionally immature and has much growing to do, but tends to push away positive influences due to his abrasive nature.

History
Oak-kit and his siblings were born with a dead father and a depressed mother. Fawntail and Nettleclaw had been deeply in love, and the death of Nettleclaw brought Fawntail down so far, not even the birth of her kits could help. From the start, it divided the family. Oak-kit was conflicted and confused, uncomfortable with the deep emotions his mother was experiencing and keeping a distance from her. It was scary, to not be able to come to his mother for comfort or reassurance, especially without the support of a father to help. His brother tried to lighten the mood and his sister, Tawnykit, tried to take on the role that their mother was unable to fill, but the family was hurt from the start.
Oak-kit was eager to get out of the nursery and into his apprenticeship, anything to get away from the negative energy of the den. The family, save for their mother, was loud and energetic, and it was a relief to have an outlet for their young liveliness. Oakpaw was apprenticed to Mouseleap, a small and respected she-cat. He was successful with his training, Mouseleap just as much of a fighter as he was.
But despite his successes, Oakpaw felt himself not rising to the attention he wanted. His brother, Harepaw, was the source of pranks in the Clan, garnering feelings of mixed love and annoyance from the rest of the Clan. His sister, Tawnypaw, so successful and mature for her age, and Cloverpaw, responsible and fun. What was he? He joined Harepaw on his pranks and was quick to assist the older warriors alongside his sisters, but he was always the assistant, never the focus.
And so Oakpaw began to act out, fueled by envy and desire for...something. What was it he wanted? The attention of a mother who had been so distant? To rise above where she had fallen? To become more than the son of a dead father? He didn't know. He wasn't happy, though, and his mentor worried for him. He strove for greatness in a different way than his siblings, growing louder, fiercer. His words were launched with intent to hurt, rather than the playful teases of his brother, and his tolerance for his Clanmates decreased. He would get attention, but now it was negative, and Oakpaw found himself even more conflicted.
He was still a hard worker, though, easily separating his volatile social life from his dedication to training under Mouseleap. An easy apprentice, so to speak, he did everything she asked of him, soon meeting and matching her towards the end of his training. But she didn't know how to approach him on a personal level, never having been a motherly or emotional cat. Perhaps, she thought, had she been someone different, she could have helped him through whatever he struggled with.
At last, his warrior ceremony. Named Oakthorn, for his sharp claws and sharper attitude. He earned attention, though not the good kind, and not from his mother. While a valuable warrior, he has much emotional growing to do, if only he could figure out what he wants and needs.
